Digital booklet not opening in acrobat reader 9

Has anyone had a problem with opening digital booklets? File is PDF, but when I try to open it says the file is not supported or not properly decoded? Any ideas?

Why won't a PDF created in Adobe Captivate 5.5 open in Acrobat Reader 9.4.5? I keep getting an error at work. I am not able to upgrade my adobe reader at work and am wondering if I NEED Acrobat Reader 10 in order to view these PDFs.

    Update:
My stupidity.  Changed a path and still had the old folder on development computers so all appeared fine.  That was the issue.

  • Password protected files not opening with acrobat reader 9

I receive text file embedded in a PDF which is password protected. I just changed my comp from Vista to Windows 7 64 Bit and got the reader 9 duly updated. Earlier I was using reader 7 and the files used to work and open. Now they do not open and their is a big PIN mark on giving the password. The following message is displayed "Acrobat cannot open the file attachment because your PDF file attachment settings do not allow this file type to be opened" the file type is ZIP.  Please help

But it did work on windows vista with reader 7. If it is not at all possible then
my question is can I uninstall reader 9 and install reader 7.
will it work on windows 7 64 bit

  • Can not open Adobe Acrobat reader, when downloading a document...?

I downloaded Adobe Acrobat Reader "successfully,"  yet when I try and download a file, the pop up says would you like to download Adobe reader??

If the above does not resolve your issue, please provide some details.

  • Save As....PDF does not open in Acrobat Reader

I'm using a mac with all the lastest updates.
I have version 11.0.03 of Adobe Reader
When I use Safari to view a .PDF file, I can view it with no problems.
The problem comes after I SAVE that file.  So when I'm viewing a site such as http://www.lightroomqueen.com/downloads/shortcuts/lightroom_shortcuts_40_mac.pdf and then in Safari I go... FILE>SAVE AS...and select that default file name with it's .pdf extension it does save to that destination.  But...when I try to open that .pdf file via Adobe Reader..OPEN...(filename.pdf) I receive this messege:
"There was an error opening this document. The root object is missing or invalid."
How do I correct this issue please?

Don't use File Save in Safari.  As you can see it does not give you the expected results.  Instead, use either the disc icon either in the menu bar at the top or the disc icon at the bottom of the PDF in the HUD (Heads Up Display).

  • Pdf file created in Word 2008 will not open in Acrobat 8.2.6 or any other Adobe program

I have created a 12 page newsletter in Microsoft Word Publisher 2008 and have done so many times before with no problem. Today, I have tried to save it as a .pdf file both in Save As and through the printer. Each .pdf file created in Word will not open in Acrobat 8.2.6, Photoshop C3, Adobe Reader  nor any other Adobe software.
When I go to open it in Acrobat, my Mac gives me the spinning rainbow. If I try to click on the file, I get a watch and then Acrobat crashes or I have to force quit the software. I really need to convert this file and get it to the printer. Any advice???
    Mac OS X 10.6.7
    Word 08 12.2.8
    Acrobat 8.2.6
    Adobe Reader 10.0.0

    Here is a better example.
    https://www.calcerts.com/PBR1.pdf
is the original PDF file that is uploaded by a user.  Note that it is only 48kb in size.
I take the file, add a couple of watermarks and a footer for each page as well as a small image on the last page, add security on it and BAM, the file:
    https://www.calcerts.com/PBR1_AFTER.pdf
is now 1.5 MB and it takes a LONG time to print.
    Thoughts?

  • Hyperlink that contains backslash is not working in Acrobat Reader 8 and 9

    Hi,
Does anyone know why a hyperlink that contains backslash is not working in Acrobat reader 8 and 9?
I created a document in Indesign CS and it contains hyperlinks that open up files from network drive so they contain backslash (for example: c:\foder\forder\filename.jpg). All the hyperlinks work in Acrobat Reader 6 but not in Acrobat Reader 8 or 9.
Anybody could share the solution would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

Did you ever figure this out? I am also having problems with the "No Hand" javascript which turns off the (not very helpful) page-forward hand icon (a hand symbol with a down arrow) which confuses our users when in fullscreen mode. We create interactive PDFs and everything worked fine up to Acrobat X/Reader X. Now in XI it doesn't allow the internal link icon (pointing finger) nor weblink icon (pointing finger with W) to appear. It just remains a plain o’ hand icon no matter what you mouse over even though there are links present.

  • InDesign wants to open in Acrobat Reader--please help!

I am new to this forum...I have Adobe Master Collection CS 5.5. When I try to open an InDesign CS 5.5 document--from a folder for example, it tries to open up in Acrobat Reader which it can't do. I have to launch InDesign and open the document up with File/Open. Bridge gives me the same thing--wanting to open with Acrobat Reader. In my earlier version CS 3, I could click on an ID file and both the file and program would open. If anyone has any suggestions, I would appreciate it!

    Hi Bob,
I'm also forced to open my .indd files from the file menu, otherwise they
open in Acrobat, and yes, I did uninstall CS3 after I installed CS4 because
I didn't want to be stuck with nothing in case CS4 failed to install.
So what can I do now, please?
    Thanks,
    Susan
Best thing would be to uninstall and reinstall. Personally, I'd reinstall both versions (in order). There is no need to uninstall older versions from a compatibility standpoint, and if you need to edit a legacy file you may find you want CS3. If you uninstalled to save some drive space, odds are good it's time to think about installing a larger hard drive anyway. It's your data files, not applications, that eat up the dirve space in a hurry.

  • "open in preview" leads to open in acrobat reader

pdf in safari 4 are opened (in the browser window) with preview. but when I then want to open the pdf in preview with the popup dialog on the bottom of the window, the pdf gets opened with acrobat reader 8. HI,
You can select a specific application to open a document. Do this if you prefer using a certain application or if you don’t have the application that was used to create the document.
To change the application that opens a document:
Select the document and choose File > Get Info.
Click the triangle next to “Open with” to expand the section.
Choose an application from the pop-up menu, or choose Other to locate a different application.
If you want to use that application to open all documents of the same type as the current document and created by the same application, click Change All.
If you want to open a document in a different application without changing the application that normally opens it, Control-click the document, choose Open With, and then choose the application you want to use. You can also drag the document to the application’s icon in the Dock or in the Finder.

Comments are not seen on Acrobat Reader when the pdf is sent by e-mail, but it was before. I need help. Yks

    Hi,
Can you please check once if your comments are being saved in PDF? Add a comment or other annotation to the pdf, close it and open again to see if these are being saved? If these are getting saved, try sending again through email and see if they work now or not. Please try and share.
