Digital camera mount in car

Ok me and seester want to record ourselves in car on road trip. We used a go pro and it was too wide of an angle. We want to get a good digital camera and mount it properly to see both of us and be able to hear us well. What is the best for this

You can change the field of view (wide angle) on GoPros. But either way just remember, you can get ticketed for having them "in your vision" on the dash. I got one in the Viper on the way home from a trackday (ironically one of the few times I drove it there instead of trailering it). Video camera mounted on the roof hoop of the roll cage on the pass side facing forwards and a state trooper pulled me for it. Not even speeding.
My mount I had was a custom made one that clamps on the roll bar and has a ball mount for aiming with a 1/4-20 stud to mount the camera. Basically cannibalized a manfrotto ball mount to make this. Looks like a big "L" where the camcorder sits, 1/4-20 stud on the lower "L" and the ball mount bolts on the top of the "L", then the clamps on the other side of the ball mount. Wasnt the prettiest, but it worked and vibration was minimal with stabilization off.

  • Mount Digital Camera like a Hard Drive-HELP TONIGHT PLEASE

    I need to figure out how to make my digital camera mount on my desktop like a hard drive. I need to put Images ONTO my memory card, but when I hook up my (Kodak) camera, it always opens in either Image Capture or iPhoto, and only allows me to download images ONTO my computer. I need to put pictures ONTO my memory card. Please help!!!

    Digital Camera  Disks can be a problem getting mounted and/or accessed on a Mac. Windows has a proprietary system for integrating camera  disks but that system is not shared with Apple.
    Some cameras have a menu setup setting for disk usage. You might explore your camera's menu and look for a setting to tell it to "act like a data disk". Use the "Data Disk" option to bypass Microsoft's sabotage of your camera
    You can name your camera 's disk so the "NO_NAME" part will be something like "Camera". To do this, select the camera  disk and press (at the same time) command key (AKA applekey) and the i key, which brings up the infowindow. You can rename your camera  disk there.
    Another cool trick is to assign your camera  a custom icon, I have mine set as a camera  which makes it easy to find on the Desktop.
    I suggest ignoring applications in both Mac and XP and copying your pictures directly in Finder. When it mounts the camera  disk, navigate to the pictures folder and drag it to your desktop and the entire folder will be copied. You can then open the folder in whatever application you want, I use GraphicConverter.

  • IPod touch recognized and mounted as digital camera

    I've connected my ipod tonight and for my surprise it was recognized by windows (7 RC1) as a digital camera and mounted as an external storage device. It shows 4.2GB of total space in DCF file system (?), wich is the amount shown in itunes as free space, what's goin on? is it indeed to happen? O_o
    2.2.1 firmware and itunes 8.1

    hello simonhwsn,
    this seems to be dependant to the OS due the same os is used on iPhones which has the camera function.
    I have a iPod Touch 2G and updated to OS 3.0.
    Due this seems to be a feature and not a bug,
    I use this function to use my iPod as built-in USB-Stick
    to carry additional files always with me.
    Kind regards

    How to make that god damn thing work?

    If you<ve only got pictures on that memory card, then I suggest trying to use a program like gtkam (if using GNOME) or digikam (if using KDE) or something similar to download the pictures.
    I doubt that you could mount your camera as a partition, since the kernel doesn<t recognize a partition table on the device.

  • Digital Camera Won't Mount

    Hello, I have a Canon Powershot SD630 digital camera. Whenever I connect my camera to my computer via USB, iPhoto opens up normally and I can download the pictures to my computer fine. Although the camera will not mount on my desktop in order to see the contents of the SD memory card. Can anybody help me?

    Another option would be to invest in an inexpensive card reader. If you put your camera's card into the reader, iPhoto will still open, but the card will mount on your desktop, too. I also use a Canon camera, so I know this works. HTH.

    Hello,
    Gphoto is great, but there is a bug with the '--new' option. It wants to overwrite the files anyway. Does anyone of you know how to download the most recent files i.e. the files which are not already on my HDD? My camera is a Nikon P300 and it seems this camera does not work very well with the --new option
    Thanks for your help,
    #EO
    It's not a bug, if you execute in a terminal man gphoto2 you will see something like this
    --new
    Only get not already downloaded files. This option depends on
    camera support of flagging already downloaded images and is not
    available for all drivers.
    So it's all about what kind of camera do you use. I guess you're just one of the unlucky ones regarding this matter.
    Just use a graphical picture camera extractor like Darktable or  Digikam which will allow you to extract only the files you want.

  • Vivitar "Vivicam 2755" digital camera does not mount to desktop

    My mother recently acquired a digital camera. She acquired it from a second-hand store, which did not include an interface cable or software. The manual (and the USB port on the camera) indicates that a male-male USB cable is necessary for photos to be copied to the hard drive.
    I was not successful in locating such a cable at any local electronics store (I assume such a cable is now out-of-date). I purchased one from a seller on eBay. The brand is "e circuit electronics".
    Upon powering up the camera with the cable connected to it and the computer, the following message appeared:
    "Software needed for the USB device "USB Interface Controller TEST2.0" is not available. Would you like to look for the software on the Internet?"
    I clicked "Yes". After an approximate two-minute wait, another message appeared stating:
    "Software Update is not able to connect to the Internet. Please check your configuration and try again."
    I queried this discussions forum for assistance in locating software for this camera, or to correct "Software Update"'s issue with connecting to the Internet, but was unsuccessful. The discussion can be located here:
    [http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1280502&tstart=0]
    Yesterday, by pure luck while continuing my search via Google, one of the results was a German web site. Through Google translation, I was able to find software that alleviated the message that appeared after connecting the camera with the computer. That piece of software is the Vivicam V2655 (most likely a slightly older version than what I need), located here:
    [http://64.233.179.104/translatec?hl=en&u=http://www.treiberupdate.de/treiber-download/z-dltreiber/download_trei ber_9991007.php%3Fload%3D157665%26extern%3D1%26vendor%3DVivatar%26sys%3DMAC&prev=/searc h%3Fq%3DV2755%2BMac%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DG]
    Upon restart, I expected a new icon to appear on the desktop as well, but that did not occur.
    Is there an application that will reveal such an icon (with the action of a folder) that will allow me to copy the photos in the folder, from the camera to the hard drive? I assumed Drive Setup would be able to do so, but I was wrong.

    Your easiest & cheapest way to transfer the camera pictures is to buy (about $10 - $20) a USB memory card reader. Just plug your camera's memory card into it & copy the pic files to your Mac. Quicker & easier than interfacing the camera for pic transfer. Note - After you transfer the pics, be sure to drag the memory card icon to the trash before you remove the card from the reader.
     Cheers, Tom

  • Mount Digital Camera as Hard Drive

    I've recently upgraded to Leopard and I want to have the camera mount as a hard drive so that I can add some images back to the camera to take and show to my friends. Is there an option to do this, i think I could do it previously in 10.4... I have a Nikon Coolpix s51 and went through all the menus and don't see any options there for disk use. I also tried dragging images to the mounted camera in iPhoto (as that is the only place I can 'see' the mounted camera), but that wouldn't work either.
    Thanks!

    I am also trying to do this with my Canon Cameras. I used to be able to use my camera and a USB cable as a card reader, but now I never see the disk mounted. I even looked under /Volumes/ , but it is not listed there.
    I am wanting to copy specific files to and from the camera/Card, but now can not see it. iPhoto detects the camera, but I can not browse the disk any longer.
    Does anybody know how to enable this on 10.5 Leopard?

  • [solved] Digital Camera not recognized in device-manager

    My digital camera "Canon Powershot SX120 is" is not recognized by the devicemanager. I have read Digital Cameras.
    $ groups
    wheel storage users printadmin
    The "camera"-Group isn't needed anymore and this group doesn't exist on my system.
    The Powershot SX 120 has a  MTP/PTP connection mode (as the manual says). But:
    # mtp-detect
    Unable to open ~/.mtpz-data for reading, MTPZ disabled.libmtp version: 1.1.6
    Listing raw device(s)
    No raw devices found.
    gphoto succeed:
    $ gphoto2 --auto-detect
    Modell Port
    Canon PowerShot SX120 IS usb:002,019
    A gphoto --summary could be found here
    There is no udev-rule for this camera. If i create one while copying a rule from a similar camera from /etc/udev/rules.d/69-libmtp.rules, and store it into /etc/udev/rules.d/69-canon.rules, the device-manager shows up. My udev-rule:
    # Canon PowerShot SX120AX (PTP/MTP mode)
    ATTR{idVendor}=="04a9", ATTR{idProduct}=="31e0", SYMLINK+="libmtp-%k", ENV{ID_MTP_DEVICE}="1", ENV{ID_MEDIA_PLAYER}="1"
    The device-manager shows me only the option to open with a file-manager. Doing so will result in an error:
    The file or folder udi=/org/kde/solid/udev/sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:02.1/usb2/2-8/ do not exist.
    With my udev-rule:
    solid-hardware listen
    Object::connect: No such signal org::freedesktop::UPower::DeviceAdded(QDBusObjectPath)
    Object::connect: No such signal org::freedesktop::UPower::DeviceRemoved(QDBusObjectPath)

    Device Added:
    udi = '/org/kde/solid/udev/sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:02.1/usb2/2-8'
    Without the active udev-rule, "solid-hardware listen" produces nothing, but
    udevadm monitor
    monitor will print the received events for:
    UDEV - the event which udev sends out after rule processing
    KERNEL - the kernel uevent
    KERNEL[5077.662572] add /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:02.1/usb2/2-8 (usb)

    Don't know what to do ... is a udev-rule necessary to bring up the message from device-manger? Or is the Camera not recognized as a mtp-device (the Camera has no such settings)? How could i figure it out?
    With Digikam i could import Fotos, but i would do so with gwenview. I've tried to check it out with gwenview_importer:
    $ gwenview_importer --udi '/org/kde/solid/udev/sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:02.1/usb2/2-8'
    QDBusConnection: session D-Bus connection created before QCoreApplication. Application may misbehave.
    gwenview_importer: Missing required source folder argument.
      (don't care about the different udi, i took this example from a former try) but i don't know, how to find out where the "source folder" is ...

    I have solved this by making an extra udev-rule for my camera. See my adventure on forum.kde.org for details

  • My iTouch is being recognized as a digital camera and cant take out my music from it.

    i have an iphone and an ITouch and also a Ipod nano and and i just got a brand new computer cause my old 1 died. i still have music in my ipod iTouch and iPhone. i want to fill my new laptop with music. but since my iTouch and iPhone are both being read as a digital camera i can only take out photos from both. witch right now i dont care about the photos. my iPod nano on the other hand is being read as a storage device meaning i can take out the music out of the nano. i want to make it so i can also take out my misic from my iTouch and iPhone. in need of assistance. tried a bunch of methods but im tired of it. im im going to need professional help.

    - It is normal and expected for the iPod to be seen as a camera
    - What do you mean " when I put it in hard disk mode"?  iPod touches do not have a disk mode.
    - Does the iPod show in iTunes?  If not try:
    iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows

  • Importing selected photos from Digital Camera

    More than a question, this is a suggestion to the Apple developers of the iPhoto software. There are two options or tools I would really appreciate to have in my iPhoto version 5.0.4
    1. Ability to import selected photos from my digital camera or memory card reader.
    2. Ability to select the albums I want to burn to a CD or DVD.
    I hope you can include these basic functions to your well appreciated iPhoto software.
    If any Apple Discussions Member agree with this request, please join me asking Apple for these useful tools.
    Best regards,

    G5 Dual 2.3 GHz   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   iPhoto version 5.0.4

    There may be a more "elegant" solution, but you can do it manually.
    1) Go to the finder. Look for the mounted Camera (the Camera mounts just like your drive, DVD, or Disk Image). You can find this on the Desktop or in list of volumes on the left side of any window. My Camera mounts as "NO NAME".
    2) Double Click the Camera "Volume". Keep Double Clicking (Opening folders) until you get to the picture images.
    3) Select the ones you want to Add/Import to iPhoto.
    4) Drag these on the iPhoto Icon in your Dock or in the iPhoto window, which will perform the import.
    Hope this helps.

  • Can't Import large .avi file from digital camera into iPhoto 08

    I have a digital camera with a 4GB SD card. I was shooting video and have several small .avi files on the card and one large .avi file (2.67 GB) on the same card. I did not have a problem importing the small files. iPhoto hung while trying to import the large file. I read in this forum that I should use Image Capture, which I tried. When I used Image Capture on the smaller files (just to see how it worked), my camera would flash while it was transferring. When I tried Image Capture on the large file, the camera did not flash and after about 20 minutes, there didn't seem to be anything going on with the transfer. I also tried an old card reader through Image Capture, and that didn't work either. Should Image Capture be able to handle this size file? Do you know of any way to break up the large file into smaller files on the SD card? What am I missing? Thanks!

    Canon's cameras do not mount on the Desktop. It's a 'feature' of the brand.
    There are several possibilities for Image Capture - including minor directory damage on the card etc. The only solution is get the card to mount, and that means a recent Card Reader.

    I just bought a new Canon Powershot S3 IS digital camera.
    I haven't used it yet, just opened the box.

    My question is this: do I really need this program?
    Or can iPhoto take care of downloading my pictures?

  • Using digital camera as webcam

    Well, it'd be nice to use my digital camera as a webcam under linux(I can do it under windows). The camera is a Nova DC-2L (finding info for it is a bitch). Well I'm wondering on how to get it working as a webcam under linux..
    Under windows all I gotta do is set the cam to webcam mode on the camera then plug it in, and it's good to go from there..
    Well I dunno what driver the camera uses as a webcam so I guessed qc-usb as it seemed to be the only one listed on the wiki page
    sorta preEDIT: Ok as I was about to post the device info I seen that Zoran is what it came up as, so I looked it up and the module for it is zr36067, but when I try to modprobe it I get:
    FATAL: Error inserting zr36067 (/lib/modules/2.6.9-ARCH/kernel/drivers/media/video/zr36067.ko): No such device
    any ideas?

    First of all, use udev. devfs is mostly useless if you want to use USB.
    in udev rules, you need something like:
    #camera
    KERNEL="sda*" SYMLINK="camera%n"
    KERNEL="video[0-9]" SYMLINK ="video%n"
    I dont like a zillion groups, so I change my permissions,
    sd*:root:users:660
    #camera devices
    camera*:root:users:0600
    usb/dc2xx*:root:users:0600
    usb/mdc800*:root:uesrs:0600
    The problem with devfs prevented me from using my camera as a webcam and mounted storage device without restarting devfs and fiddling with the mounting of usbfs or whatever it was called.
    cat /proc/bus/usb/devices
    should tell you what is being seen on the bus.

  • Can a digital camera display appear on iphone

    I want to mount my digital camera and then view the display with my iphone.  stated another way, i'm going to take pictures of books and i need to mount the camera way out of sight in a location where my head can't really go with ease.  i want to connect the camera to my iphone and mount the iphone right in front of me.
    I'm going to plug the RCA video inputs into the camera with this

    then connect that end to a USB cord with this
    http://www.amazon.com/USB-Type-Female-Adapter/dp/B000GHXTA0
    then connect my iphone to the other end of that female female USB adapter above.
    Does anyone know if that will work?
