Digital Camera Noise Removal?

Hi,
I'm a long-time Paintshop Pro user and have decided to switch products because Corel really hasn't done much to improve on PSP. In PSP9 there is a one-click feature called "Digital Camera Noise Removal". It cleans up the grainy look from digital camera noise, etc. What's the equivalent in PSE 5?
Thanks.

Because digital noise is very specific to a particular camera, to do this effectively you really need a tool that knows about those characteristics.
However, PSE does have some filters for this - like Reduce Noise.

  • How can "Digital Camera RAW Compatibility" 4.06 be removed so that 4.05 can be installed first?

App Store currently shows "Digital Camera RAW Compatibility" 4.05 as an update.  When attempting to update the following dialog box appears stating "An error has occured - The operation couldn't be completed. (NSURLErrorDomain error -1012.)(-1012)
After searching found that the pkg files can be installed, However when trying to install 4.05 from a pkg file get the following dialog.
    Any ideas?
Is it possible to erase 4.06, then install both 4.05 & 4.06?
    many thanks
    John

after trying to install 4.05 via a pkg get a dialog stating "Alert - A newer version of Digital Camera RAW support is already installe on your system"...  Hence the question about removing 4.06.
Is there a version of the Digital Camera RAW that contains all updates, like a combo?

How do i remove the exif metadata from my jpg file produced with a digital camera photo?

The excellent and free utility Irfanview has the option to remove the EXIF data.
Simply open and the file and do a Save, or Save As with the original name.
Surprisingly, the default is to not keep the original EXIF data.

  • IPod Touch Recognized as a Digital Camera in Windows 7 (x64) - SOLUTION!

    Hi guys
After several days I finally found the solution to this with some help from Apple 2nd level support.
Symptom: iPod Touch is not connecting to iTunes. Under My Computer you find the iPod as a Portable Device > Digital Camera
Cause: Windows 7 wasn't able to install the right Driver for your Touch.
    Solution:
    1. Uninstall all the Apple software via Control Panel:
    - iTunes
    - Quicktime
    - Apple Software Update
    - Apple Mobile Device Support
    - Bonjour
    - Apple Application Support
    2. Delete all the directories related to Apple (Including Apple,iPod, iTunes, Quicktime and Apple Computer -if they are there-) under:
    - C:\Program File\Apple
    - c:\Program Files (x86)
    - C:\users\<USER>\AppData\Local
    - C:\users\<USER>\AppData\Roaming
    3. Restart
    4. Reinstall iTunes (Right click and run as Administrator) but THIS IS THE TRICK!! change the installation path to C:\program files\iTunes (Remove x86) !
    5. Connect ipod
It will still be a Camera..don't worry..
    6. Go to My Computer > right click > Manage > Device Managers > Find your ipod under the Portable Devices
    7. Right Click > Update driver > Specific location and browse C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device support\Drivers
    8. After succesfully installed this driver you will be able to see your iPod Touch in iTunes
    Enjoy !

  • [solved] Digital Camera not recognized in device-manager

My digital camera "Canon Powershot SX120 is" is not recognized by the devicemanager. I have read Digital Cameras.
    $ groups
    wheel storage users printadmin
The "camera"-Group isn't needed anymore and this group doesn't exist on my system.
The Powershot SX 120 has a  MTP/PTP connection mode (as the manual says). But:
    # mtp-detect
Unable to open ~/.mtpz-data for reading, MTPZ disabled.libmtp version: 1.1.6
    Listing raw device(s)
    No raw devices found.
    gphoto succeed:
    $ gphoto2 --auto-detect
    Modell Port
    Canon PowerShot SX120 IS usb:002,019
A gphoto --summary could be found here
There is no udev-rule for this camera. If i create one while copying a rule from a similar camera from /etc/udev/rules.d/69-libmtp.rules, and store it into /etc/udev/rules.d/69-canon.rules, the device-manager shows up. My udev-rule:
    # Canon PowerShot SX120AX (PTP/MTP mode)
    ATTR{idVendor}=="04a9", ATTR{idProduct}=="31e0", SYMLINK+="libmtp-%k", ENV{ID_MTP_DEVICE}="1", ENV{ID_MEDIA_PLAYER}="1"
The device-manager shows me only the option to open with a file-manager. Doing so will result in an error:
The file or folder udi=/org/kde/solid/udev/sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:02.1/usb2/2-8/ do not exist.
    With my udev-rule:

    Object::connect: No such signal org::freedesktop::UPower::DeviceRemoved(QDBusObjectPath)

    Device Added:
    udi = '/org/kde/solid/udev/sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:02.1/usb2/2-8'
Without the active udev-rule, "solid-hardware listen" produces nothing, but
    udevadm monitor
monitor will print the received events for:
UDEV - the event which udev sends out after rule processing
    KERNEL - the kernel uevent
    KERNEL[5077.662572] add /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:02.1/usb2/2-8 (usb)

    UDEV [5077.693035] add /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:02.1/usb2/2-8/2-8:1.0 (usb)
Don't know what to do ... is a udev-rule necessary to bring up the message from device-manger? Or is the Camera not recognized as a mtp-device (the Camera has no such settings)? How could i figure it out?
With Digikam i could import Fotos, but i would do so with gwenview. I've tried to check it out with gwenview_importer:
    $ gwenview_importer --udi '/org/kde/solid/udev/sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:02.1/usb2/2-8'
QDBusConnection: session D-Bus connection created before QCoreApplication. Application may misbehave.
gwenview_importer: Missing required source folder argument.
(don't care about the different udi, i took this example from a former try) but i don't know, how to find out where the "source folder" is ...

I have solved this by making an extra udev-rule for my camera. See my adventure on forum.kde.org for details

  • Ipod seen as a digital camera, and won't be recognized by Itunes.

Have: Ipod 2nd Generation (2.2.1), Windows Vista, Itunes Ver. 8.1
Problem: Alright here it is, my Ipod and my sister's is not being recognized by Itunes. It is however recognized by my computer as a digital camera. If I shutdown my computer and then plug in my Ipod while its off into the computer while its turning on its recognized. However, it won't sync saying "the ipod cannot be synced. the disk could not be read from or written to." Now it trys to sync but my Ipod doesn't have syncing on the screen. My Ipod though will be recognized by other computers.
Things I tried: All the steps on the apple page, please don't link me to the instructions again. I have uninstalled and installed Itunes soo mny times. Tried restoring it also, but couldn't finish the restore on my computer and had to use another one. Also I have tried plugging it in and out, using differant usb ports, pretty much everything with no success.
    PLEASE HELP!!!

    Welcome to Apple Discussions
I know it is your first post so I'll offer a gentle reminder to start new problems as new posts and not hijack an existing thread. Your problem is different than the OP.
In your case, you need to disable the automatic camera notification. The help article how to that is here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1857
The crashing part can be caused by an obsolete/incompatible driver on your PC. You will have to figure out how to update it so it doesn't crash or remove it entirely.

  • Windows 7 running PC thinks my iPod Touch is a digital camera?

Hi everyone. I've had my second generation iPod Touch for over 2 years now. I originally had it synced up with iTunes on a laptop running Windows Vista, and it worked perfectly. I then switched it to a new laptop, running Windows 7. That laptop let me transfer everything fine, and let me play, add and remove music and apps (in other words, it worked fine). Then, that laptop had some problems (the hard drive fried itself and I had to get it replaced.) When I got the laptop up and running again it was like it was a new laptop. I downloaded the latest version of iTunes (10.2.2 is what I have on here now) but the laptop is recognizing my iPod as a digital camera instead. To be clear, my iPod shows up in iTunes and I can play music, but it won't let me put the music from my iPod into My Library, and it won't let me add or remove songs. I've tried updating the drivers in my Device Manager but that seems to not work. I've also changed the Autoplay settings on my iPod, but that also didn't work. Please help! I'm getting to the point where I want to chuck my iPod out the window and just buy a new one!

  • IPod only recognized as digital camera / Apple Software Update unable to be uninstalled

This may sound like a common problem, but I've done a LOT of work trying to fix it based on online searches. With no avail, I think this problem can't be easily fixed.
As the question states, the initial problem is that my iPod Touch (1st gen I think, maybe 2nd gen, iOS 3.1.3) wasn't recognized by iTunes as an iPod, but only as a digital camera (Windows 7, 64-bit). At first I was content because I didn't have extra songs I wanted to add. But then when I cleared the RAM one day, the iPod restarted with the USB/Connect to iTunes screen. Finally, I had no choice but to try to fix the iTunes problem. So, as most people suggest first, I tried to update iTunes.
Unfortunately iTunes was unable to update. There was a rolling back error, that I traced to Apple Mobile Device Software by using the Command Prompt and logging the install log. Apparently, iTunes didn't have sufficient permission by Windows to delete the necessary files. I even uninstalled iTunes to try to reinstall it, but it didn't reinstall, leaving me with no iTunes at all.
Then I extracted AMDS installer from the iTunes installation package and logged that installation process to find errors. According to an online source, the driver was blank, so I first tried using pnputil.exe in cmd to remove the Apple driver package. This failed, so I manually went into C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository to find the driver to delete it so it could reinstall. Unfortunately, it still wouldn't install.
In addition, I changed the ownership of ProgramData, Program Files, and Program Files (x86) in the C:\ disk to Administrator instead of SYSTEM and gave full permission to myself (the administrator) and "TrustedInstaller." A risky move, I know, but I was desperate. I had hoped that this would give permission to iTunes to modify what it needed to modify, but this still didn't work.
Thus, I tried to remove all traces of Apple software that related to iTunes manually. This involved the Apple files in ProgramData, Program Files\Common Files, and Program Files (x86)\Common Files. Then I tried to uninstall the list of programs related to iTunes (Bonjour, QuickTime, etc). However, Apple Software Update refused to uninstall and gave an error "There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program reuired for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor." I fear in my deletion of files, I might have deleted something necessary for this uninstall.
I downloaded multiple forced uninstallers, but none of them worked - the same message showed up constantly. I went into the registry key to see if I could manually uninstall Apple Software Update, but this didn't seem to work either. I was too afraid to delete anymore files...
So here I am again, having walked in a complete circle in this extremely complicated situation. The files I deleted in my first attempt at a solution ended up hindering a possible actual solution. Any ideas to uninstall Apple Software Update, or to solve iTunes rolling back error, or to remove the connect to iTunes screen from my iPod would be greatly greatly greatly appreciated. I can live without iTunes, but my iPod is very important to me. If anyone has a solution to remove the screen without connected to iTunes, or connecting to a different computer's iTunes, I would be willing to take that course of action too.
    Thanks!

  • IPod touch 4th Gen is recognized as digital camera, not in iTunes

I'm using a Windows XP computer with the newest version of iTunes and my iPod touch 4 won't pop up in iTunes, it's a digital camera according to my pc. I have tried really EVERYTHING: update iTunes, downgrade iTunes, reinstall iTunes and all other apple software 7 times, USB drivers, firmware, DFU-mode, every single apple support I could find I tried! And now I'm tired of it, my rage upon this issue isn't describable anymore...
Please help me instead of referring to another topic

Found the sollution, but it is very hard to do though:
"Unfortunatly uninstalling/re-installing iTunes and all doesn't always seem to work. We had the same issue with the ipod touch being recognized as a digital camera under windows xp. We tried just about any recipe listed by apple or others with no success.
In the end what works is to just force the drivers on what windows thinks is a camera, i.e. to ‘update’ the device to use the correct driver. There are some hints on how to do this already listed on this forum, but I’ll try to give some more detailed information:
    1. First off you need to have iTunes installed and the ipod touch plugged in
and recognized as ‘something’ e.g. digital camera (it shouldn’t really
matter what it’s recognized as, but it needs to be found by windows).
    2. Search for usbaapl in the C:\WINDOWS system folder:
o open windows explorer (e.g. Right-click Start and then click ‘explore’)
o right-click the WINDOWS folder and select ‘Search’).
o type in usbaapl and hit Search – try to ignore the dog!
You should find the driver info in a sub folder of
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\DRVSTORE e.g. C:\WINDOWS\system32\DRVSTORE\usbaapl_A65621D65F5B7507DD7B22331826547BDD2D206B
Remember that location (either leave the search box open or copy the folder
name into note pad – you’ll need it later)
If you don’t find usbaapl.sys, usbaapl.inf etc. then your drivers have not
been installed with the iTunes install and you’ll have to reinstall iTunes.
    3. Locate the ipod-camera device:
o Open the device manager, e.g. using Start > Control Panel >
Performance and Maintenance > System > Hardware Tab > Device Manager
o Look for a device called ‘ipod’ - if your ipod shows up as
‘digital camera’ it will be under something like ‘imaging devices’.
    4. Update the driver:
o Right click the ‘ipod-camera’ in device manager and click on
‘Update Driver’ – the Hardware Update Wizard will open.
o Check the ‘Install from a list or specific location’ then click ‘Next’
o Check ‘Search for the best driver in these locations’. Un-check
‘Search removable media’ and check ‘Include this location in the search’.
In the text box below type (or better copy and paste) the folder
containing the ipod driver information found in step 1 (in the example
    above it was C:\WINDOWS\system32\DRVSTORE\usbaapl_A65621D65F5B7507DD7B22331826547BDD2D206B),
    then click Next.
You should now see something like ‘Apple ipod device driver’ or so. Continue
installing that device. Once the driver has been installed the ipod will come
to life and iTunes (if you have it open) will show it.
Hope this helps. Please add comments to the instructions above if you find variations that work for you."
Apple should fix things like this!

  • IPod Recognized as a digital camera

So I have an old 8gb ipod touch, and since my old computer crashed, I have reinstalled itunes on a new computer and want to sync my ipod with my new itunes, and access it through windows,  but my computer is recognizing it as a digital camera, and i cannot do anything with it. I have used this troubleshooting page, with no results: http://www.apple.com/support/ipodtouch/assistant/itunes/ . I was wondering if there is another way to fix the problem. I do have mcaffee antivirus on my computer so that is most likely the problem.

    First try disabling Mcaffee.
    Then
    Did you do everything here:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    Including
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
    or
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
New cable and different USB port?
Runs this and see if the results help with determine the cause

  • My Computer Only recognizes My IPhone 4 As A Digital Camera

When I plug my iPhone into my laptop, it does not show up in iTunes. I'm running windows 7 with iTunes version 10.0.1.22. When I run a diagnostic in iTunes it says that no iPhone is connected, I have tried different USB ports, different USB cables, I have uninstalled iTunes and have tried removing, disabling my iPhone which is recongized in device manager under portable devices, and I followed some instructions in services to fix this problem, but at this moment can't remember what it was at this moment.
Now I know a few other people are experiencing this problem but one diffence I have noticed is that my phone Shows up in my computer as a digital camera, other people have not reported this issue.
So if anyone can help with this conundrum, many thanks

The iPhone is two separate devices, a digital camera and an iPod. It is normal for it to be recognized as a digital camera when there are photos in the camera roll; this is to allow you to transfer the photos to your computer.
The iPod should also launch iTunes, then appear in the left panel of the iTunes screen. If it doesn't your iTunes installation is corrupted or you have USB driver problems. To diagnose the problem first make sure you are connecting the phone to a USB port directly on the computer, not to a hub.
Next launch Task Manager (CTRLSHIFTESC). Click on the Processes tab then Image Name to sort on the name. Look for AppleMobileDeviceService.exe. If it is not present that is your problem. If it is the best solution is to completely uninstall then reinstall iTunes. See: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925.
If the mobile service is not running to to Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Services. Find the service, right click on it and launch it. If you get an error your firewall or antivirus may have disabled it.

  • Iphone shows as Digital Camera on XP Pro. Problem?

I'm on my second 3G S because of problems syncing (disk cannot be found, read from, written to messages). I just noticed under My Computer that it is listed as a Digital Camera, not as a hard drive or as removable media.
Anyone think this could be the cause of my syncing problems?
Anyone know how to change this?
