Digital camera SD card problem

I have a fujifilm digital camera and I got it two years ago, the usb cord went missing long ago because I always plugged my camera's blue SD card into my HP computer instead. Now that I've had a macbook for a year, to get pics on it I have to put the SD in my HP, transfer them onto a thumbdrive and plug that into my mac...now my HP computer decided to keel over and die so..l and I wanted to know if there's SD card adapters for macbooks??? I've wanted one for a while but now I really need it because there's no way for me to transfer my pics onto my computer without a memory card slot!! And it's obvious my mac doesn't have one..sooo any insight??

The common USB card reader for SD cards should be adequate.
Some of these card readers may require you to put the Card into
the Reader, then plug the reader into the computer's USB port.
Others may do OK if the reader is first attached to the computer
and then the card is put into it. (I have both kinds; and prefer to
put the card into the reader, then plug the combination into Mac.)
Also, replacement cords for the camera to connect to computer
should be available. Depending on the type of port in camera body,
the replacement cord may be a common one with small plug on
one end and standard USB2.0/1.1 plug on the other end. ($6.?)
My Panasonic digital camera uses an SD card for image captures
and I've used a card reader specific to SD cards successfully w/ it.
The card reader I have looks like an adapter, with USB2 plug on
one end and a slot for the two most common SD cards in the other.
(But most often, I use a standard USB camera cord and power-on
the camera to transfer images; works fine if battery life isn't an issue.)
Some cameras have a small round USB data port in them, while others
have the USB Mini small port which takes a semi-rectangular shape plug.
Both my Panasonic & Nikon D70 use *Mini 5-pin* kind of USB w/ small end.
Your camera may require a different end cable; but probably not uncommon.
The big end is a standard A end USB cable, to go into the computer.
Of the Card Readers I found in a simple online search, some of them offer
support for three kinds of similar cards: USB2.0 SD/SDHC/MMC. The basic
ones do not have slots for every card made; they are SD specific. While I
also have a card reader that can accept 11 different cards, it doesn't always
see the camera's cards correctly. I prefer to use a USB cable to the camera.
Between USB camera cords (with images) and USB card readers, these
should be an easy find online via search; you could match the kind of
shape the ports require for cable ends to match, & also get a card reader.
Good luck in this matter!

  • Automounting a digital camera's card?

I have a Panasonic DMC-FZ4 digital camera that attaches via usb to my
computer. It uses a sandisk ultraII memory card. I use fluxbox and pcmanfm as my file system. I have hal and dbus setup and working. Pcmanfm sees that card there as /dev/sde but it doesn't get auto mounted, I'm guessing 'cause it's not in fstab. What I want it for it to either auto mount or allow me to mount it when I click on its icon in pcmanfm? Right now when I click on its icon in pcmanfm I get an error saying that the file system cannot be mounted. Can anybody help me out here, I will make a similar post on the arch forums as well. Thanks for any help given.

I have a panasonic tz1 with SD memory card.
I utilize fstab to get the usb connect of the SD card and it opens with ...pana 100.
Click on pana 100 to display the recorded
    camera shots including the .mov.
Please see my posts in ARCH DISCUSSION regarding the conversion of .mov to .avi.
You have to enter the USB device in fstab and open it...I utilize kde ..kdiskfree.. to enable convenient access.
I have generated hundreds of converted stills and motion shots with my TZ1 via USB and mencoder.
EDIT:  The file system for the card must be ...vfat.....

  • N82 Camera & Memory Card Problem

Hello! After two months of careful operation and having the following problem: when you open the shutter of the camera, blinking charging indicator flashes, then a message "unexpected error occurred. Restart the device." Then, the phone does not "see" the memory card (included with delivery). Additional software is not installed. Resetting factory settings did. Memory card in other phones, Nokia tried it - everything is in order. Please define the problem. According to rumors, this is a common problem with this phone. Sin in the xenon flash. With the patience of waiting for a response.

    Do a nuclear reset then:
    Hold Green button + 3 + *
    Turn on the phone
Keep on holding the 3 buttons until the shake hands appear.
Choose your region and that should be done. Your lock code is now should be 12345

  • Droid Charge Camera SD Card problem

I went to my local Verizon store this morning because my camera (Back cam) says that the SD Card is 19310 ... (Front) says that the SD Card is 99999. I was told that I needed to delete a lot of programs to fix the 99999 problem. The saleman proceded to delete many programs off of my cell phone. We then deleted most of my pictures. Now, my phone is about like a 1950's phone and the camera still says 99999 on the SD Card. What can be done with this pc of junk phone to fix the problem?

        Hi charlesstrength,
I feel your pain, Sd card issues are no fun. While some SD cards may become corrupted over time and stop working properly, most SD card issues get resolved by formatting http://goo.gl/FNsYa the card. Please save your media and give it a shot. Keep us posted.

  • Digital camera DX card

Where can I get DX cards for my Fujifilm S5000 camera?   No body  seems to have them in the sore.

    From the manual;
    xD-Picture Card
These are separately available xD-Picture Card.
Use the following xD-Picture Card :
    DPC-16 (16 MB)/DPC-32 (32 MB)/DPC-64 (64 MB)/DPC-128 (128 MB)/
    DPC-256 (256 MB)/DPC-512 (512 MB)
Last I checked, BBY (if you can find any) only sold a 2Gb card...might be a compatability issue?
I am a Best Buy employee, but I provide my own opinions.

  • Digital Camera compatability!

So far...I love the computer, it just won't acknowledge my Sony Cyber-Shot Digital Camera. The problem is that I am running a Logitech Wireless Keyboard & Mouse and every time I plug in the USB cable for the camera to download pictures onto the computer, it shuts off the unifying receiver for the mouse & keyboard. I've tried the receiver in every USB port on here and then try plugging in the camera's USB cord again...I get the same result. I've taken a few different flash drives and plugged those into different USB ports and there is no trouble at all with the receiver. I am currently using 2 of the ports...1 for my printer & the other for my external hard drive and those are recognized & visible on the C drive. So...to the best of my knowledge, there is no trouble with the USB ports themselves. I was told that it may be a signal interference issue and to try using a powered USB hub. The hub is recognized as when I plugged it in and checked it in device manager, it now shows 10 as opposed to 6 USB ports. The camera is 5 or 6 years old & the computer I previously ran it on was a Dell/Windows XP machine...never had any troubles there at all. My question is, is it a driver issue or is it not compatible with Windows 8.1 somehow? I checked Sony's website & it says that my model is but...I still have troubles. Is it time for a new camera? Any suggestions??

    Hello Tommy,
I was curious when this happens, have you went into the windows Device Manager to see if there are any errors reported with those USB devices? If so, what are the errors?
If you don’t know what that is, I can try to explain how to navigate to it or you can just Google how to use Device Manager. Let me know
Also, when you plug the camera into the port, does anything automatically pop up asking what to do?
If so, perhaps turning off Auto Play for that media device will have an effect.
You can update the chipset drivers for your model computer, but I doubt it will have anything to do with this.
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=4158&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=7123...
BTW: I noticed there is an RF remote control driver update for your system in that link also.
I wonder if you have such a driver installed already, if it turns off the mouse when a remote is plugged in? IF this is so, perhaps when you plug the Sony camera in it thinks the remote is plugged in instead, turning off the RF signal of the USB Dongle.
I could be wrong, it’s just a thought. IF I’m right, that might point back to turning off that feature in Auto Play settings I mentioned above or uninstalling that feature.
    Finally…
Even though it feels annoying that this isn’t working the way it should, I never recommend anyone connect the camera via usb to transfer files. ALWAYS pull the sd card and insert it into the slot on your PC. Connecting the camera drains the battery unnecessarily and risks the chance of a malfunction that could corrupt the files.
The pros always use the card method for a reason so perhaps that should be a heads up.
It’s just a suggestion though, the choice is yours.
I hope this was helpful in some way.

Post relates to: Treo 650 (Cingular)

    First of all thank you.
I memory card is  2GB. I brought a file from my friends pc using his digital camera as card reader. Then in my pc I connected the card using card reader n tried to cut-paste the file but it showed that problem("Write protected"!!!). Then I decided to format the card from the pc but it showed that message and format failed. Since the file was really big (almost 1GB!!)so I decided to format the card using the "Format Memory Card"option in the phone.
After formating the card I again connected the card using card reader to the pc and tried to insert the old applications and songs in it. But whenever i tried to paste something in the card the problem occurs and hence i cant put anything in the card!!!!
This is the details of the problem. I am looking forward for your reply!!!
    Again thankz

  • IPhoto 6 - recurring pop-up window for digital camera

Starting a few months ago, I began getting this pop-up window every time I launch iPhoto:
No matter what I click or answer, this window pops up again every time I launch iPhoto.
Why is this happening and how do I get it to stop asking me?  I work on an old PowerPC (OS 10.4.11, iPhoto 6.0.6 (322)).  The pop-up window comes up irrespective of whether or not a digital camera or card reader is attached.

Rj in WI is correct. I just started using iTunes about a month ago after my wife got an IPod. It took me about an hour of frustration and reading the instruction before I saw in the bottom right of the window "my computer". You click on that and then you can change it to the Airport network. Unfortunately It appears you can only send to only one place. I have two Aiport Expresses and I can only send it to one of the Express devices, or the computer, but not to two or all three places at one time.

  • Why is the memory capacity of a digital camera's memory card relevant?

    Hi All,
I'm new to all this . I have a question "Why is the memory capcity of a digital camera's memory card relevant?"
    Thanks
    Maggie

Why is the memory capcity of a digital camera's memory card relevant?
    It is not to Photoshop.
But to the photographer it is extremely relevant.  It determines how many images (influenced by "quality") your camera can hold before running out of room to store pictures. A larger memory capacity for your camera will allow you to take and store more and/or higher quality images.
("Quality" in this case is determined by  image size- the number of pixels making up the image in your camera and image "compression" -  how much JPG formatting will effect your image.)
    (attempted analogy coming... watch out!)
Think of the camera memory card as a linen closet to store down pillows. A small closet you can store 10 pillows on a shelf. Double the size of the closet and you can store 20 down pillows.
You also have the choice to stuff the down pillows in small sacks, allowing you to store even more pillows in the closet. The problem is after cramming the down pillows into the small container, they come out battered and not as nice as they were before storage.
    Linen Closet = Memory Card
    Down Pillows = images
Small sacks to stuff pillows into = JPG compression.
(and to add this this questionable analogy... the better down pillows have more feathers, and take up more room in the linen closet)
    Feathers = pixels

  • Digital Camera Connection Problems With Leopard

    Hi Everyone,
I'm having a big problem with connecting various digital cameras to my macs. I have 3 different machines (a G5 iMac, 2 MacBook Pros) all running 10.5.1 or 10.5.2 and none of them will recognize my canon Powershot SD800 or my SD1000. I haven't had a chance to test it out with my Digital Rebel yet but I'm suspecting I may run into the same issue.
I've read through all the tech notes in the iLife section and various articles on the web and from what I can tell Apple has a problem with usb device connections in Leopard. I've tried all of the fixes (deleting caches folder, resetting PRAM, updating all applications, etc) and nothing works. The cameras were working fine under 10.4.11. I was really hoping Apple would have fixed this in 10.5.2 but it is still not working. Does anyone have any ideas if Apple is working on this? For photographers like myself this is a major deal. I can get around the issue right now using an external memory card reader, but that's extremely inconvenient at times and I'm just not impressed that something like this has gone months without a fix from Apple.

And I'm not having any problems with Leopard mounting my Canon PowerShot Pro or Rebel though I typically don't connect them, choosing to use a card reader instead. (Saves camera battery.) This is true on the 4 computers I use at home and work as well as my wife's MacBook. Two came with Leopard pre-installed the other 3 I installed Leopard using Archive & install.
We can talk about how you upgraded to Leopard or what you have installed that might be getting in the way, or you can buy an inexpensive card reader and be done with the hassle.

  • Connecting to Digital Camera - Problems

When I connect the fifth gen ipod to the fujifilm digital camera it downloads the pictures with no problem, I copied 4 compact flash cards to the ipod. I then connected a Sony digital camera to the ipod it said it had finisheddownloading the pictures but when I checked the ipod all including the fujifilm pictures had disappeared!!
Now when I connect the ipod to the camera it says there are no pictures on the card when clearly there are! The only way around this is to format the ipod!
Has anyone come across this problem?

Reset Your iPod and try again, you've probarbly just had a glitch!

  • Zen Vision:M, Mediasource transfer problem and Digital Camera

It used to work. Norton 360 has made a mess of lots of things...
I can no longer transfer via Mediasource to my Zen Vision:M 60gb. I can view, play and rename files from Mediasource and I can transfer to the Vision:M via windows explorer (of course you don't get the benefits of gracenote or other tag modification programs). I have also noticed that on my XP "My Computer" the device shows up as both MY Zen (digital player) and and as Zen? DVP-HD004 as a Digital Camera. Is the digital camera piece related to the problem and/or normal?

The 60GB has a USB host feature for transfering pictures directly to the player that the 30GB does not have.Since the motherboard is not the same that makes sense.Have you tried turning off your Anti-Virus when you need to transfer files?
