Digital camera to Extreme for wireless picture downloads.

I have an AirPort Extreme to which I have successfully added a printer and external hard drive using a powered hub. I can access both wirelessly.
I am also trying to add a digital camera to the hub so that I can download my new pictures to iPhoto wirelessly without having to physically plug the camera into my MacBook, but I am having no luck with that.
Is it possible? If so, how do I do it?

Now I'm travelling to China at the end of the year I am hoping even more that some Apps guru can come up with even a basic processing App to load images that can attach to say, my daily news to my Friends on Facebook!
I know my Sony uses USB2.0 so all that would be needed is an intermediary link to plug into the Touch? I noticed there is Apple iPod Camera Connector (M9861) available but reviews don't cover the Touch and there's conflicting reports.
Already you can now get a useful photo retouching App (Picoli) which makes life even easier.
Fingers crossed I guess!

  • I am using an Airport Extreme for wireless and a Netgear VPN Switch for wired connections.  How do I get the two networks to connect?

I am using an Airport Extreme for wireless and also have a Netgear VPN Switch (FV5318) for internal wired ethernet connections.  How do I get the two networks to connect to each other?

Tesserax, I would like to keep the Airport Extreme in nplace before the Netgear FVS318 switch because I am using all of the 8 ethernet outputs distributed to 8 differerent locationsl  This way I can just use one of the LAN outputs from the Airport to feed the FVS318.  Here is what I think I am hearing you say:
Tne reason why the wired and wireless devices are not communicating is because the FVS318G is also a DHCP server and in conflict with the AEBS.
To remedy the situastion here is probably what I need to do in order:
    1. Change the LAN IP Address of the Netgear FVS318G to be the same subnet of the Airport Extreme.
    2. Then, disable the Netgear FVS318G as a DHCP server.
    3. Make sure the ethernet cable from the LAN port of the Airport Extreme connectis to the LAN port of the Netgear FVS318G.
    4. Restart everything.
Can you provide me the steps I need to take to get the right IP addresses from the Airport Extreme to put into the Netgear to fix the conflict?  I have the Airport Utility.  I also have two airport express hot spots, and two Apple TVs in addition to computers attached to the 8 ethernet lines.
    Thank you.

  • Can I set up Airport Extreme for wireless printiing over Uverse network?

I previously had DSL, and used my Airport Extreme as my wireless router. It was in my home office, so my printer was directly plugged into the Base Station. I recently switched to ATT Uverse, which came with its own wireless router. The new router is in another room, next to the TV. My question is this: Can I set up my old AEBS to function as a wireless printing outpost, like an Airport Express, that would be connected to my office printer but accessed through the ATT network? Thanks.

    Welcome to the discussions, Patrick!
Can I set up my old AEBS to function as a wireless printing outpost, like an Airport Express, that would be connected to my office printer but accessed through the ATT network?
In theory, yes. In practice, this is one of those things that you won't know until you try. Since the AEBS will have to "join" your ATT wireless network, the biggest question will be whether or not you can find a matching security setting on the AEBS for the ATT wireless network.
Are you able to get into the setup pages on the ATT router to see exactly what type of security is being used? Ideally, it will be WPA2 Personal, but different manufacturers use different names and flavors for the same thing, so it's rarely as easy as one might hope when you try to get devices from two manufacturers to talk to each other over wireless.

  • Can I use an old UFO Extreme for wireless printing?

Greetings, I have a new airport extreme base station managing my wireless network, but I am still printing wirelessly from a Macbook Pro by sharing a printer with wired a G4 desktop. (my 'main' BS is in the basement, G4 and printer on the 3rd floor, connected to the BS via ethernet). I have an older UFO style base station gathering dust that I'd like to use for wireless printing by having it sit next to the printer and connect to it via usb, join my existing network wirelessly, and, well that's it. Essentially I want it to be an airport express, so I can print wirelessly without the G4. Is this an easy/possible setup? What settings will I have to change on my 'main' airport BS as well as the UFO? Any guidance you can give me I'd very much appreciate. Many thanks in advance, and sorry for what I suspect is a dumb question.

Badlyva, Welcome to the discussion area!
The AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS) can not join a wireless network like the AirPort Express (AX) can. But you could configure your new AEBS to act as a WDS main base station and the old AEBS to act as a WDS remote base station. The bad part is that you would need to use 802.11g and the WDS link would cut your available wireless bandwidth in half of that.

  • Which digital camera is suitable for the pci-1422

when i purchase a digital cam for PCI-1422 , what should i focus on, for example: Resolution, interface, depth of color or etc??
How to classify the a digital cam and how to identify which is suitable for PCI-1422??
Does anybody have recommandation for me!!??
    thanx!!!

There are a lot of digital cameras that work well with the PCI-1422.
Selecting the proper camera depends more on your application than the PCI-1422. You need to look at resolution and frame rate, along with bit depth, color or B&W, etc.
You will also need to select a lens that matches your application. You might just need a fixed focal length, or you might need a zoom, a telecentric lens, or other possibilities.
I would recommend discussing your application with Robert Eastlund of Graftek Imaging (800) 441-2118. He will be able to help you select the proper camera and lens for your application.

  • Setting up Aiport Extreme for wireless hard drive access

I recently bought an Aiport Extreme Base Station, but I am struggling to set it up.
I want to use the Extreme to access my external hard drive (a Western Digital) wirelessly. I also have an Airport Express, which I currently use to extend my wirless network, and to connect to my speakers with AirTunes. My goal is to access and play my music library (contained on my external hard drive) without wiring my macbook to any external devices.
I already have an adequate wireless network in my home (my wireless router is a 2Wire 3800HGV-B, provided by AT&T).
So, I've already tried to set up the Extreme and failed. Rather than describe what I've tried already, let me tell you what I want, ideally:
    1. Access my hard drive wirelessly
    2. Access the internet and my hard drive at the same time (I assume this means that I need my Extreme to join my existing wireless network rather than create a new network, since i don't think I can be on two wireless networks at once)
    3. Keep my Airport Extreme in a separate room from my 2Wire Gateway (this is preferred but not essential -- if they absolutely need to be connected with an ethernet cable for some reason, I can do that)
Can anyone help me through the setup process? In case you haven't noticed, I don't really know what I'm talking about, so step-by-step instructions would be much appreciated. Thanks!

nononoah, Welcome to the discussion area!
The AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS) will not wirelessly join the wireless network provided by the 2Wire.
You will need to either connect the AEBS to the 2Wire via Ethernet or replace the 2Wire with the AEBS.

  • Express or extreme for wireless printing at college

The university has a wireless network that is supposed to be accessible in the dorm rooms. The rooms are also wired. I would like to be able to print wirelessly from a macbook pro.
I don't guess I need the express/extreme to be an access point for the network. Would there be an advantage to making it an access point? If I set up an Express as a client, is there security so that others will not see or be able to print to the connected printer? If it is a client, would printing only be available within the wireless range of the Express or from anywhere as long as the laptop is connected to the network?
    Thanks

If I set up an Express as a client, is there security so that others will not see or be able to print to the connected printer?
Anyone with access to the wireless network will be able to print.
If it is a client, would printing only be available within the wireless range of the Express or from anywhere as long as the laptop is connected to the network?
    Anywhere on the wireless network.

i  wanted to ask whether the camera for ipod touch comparable to a digital camera? if not are there apps available that can turn it into a digital camera? i want to buy an ipod touch and i like photography....what should i do? plz suggest

The iPod touch has a very rudimentary camera.  It has only a 0.6 MP resolution, no optical zoom, no flash, etc.   There is no app that can improve this as it is limited by the hardware. So it is not a replacement for a digital camera (nor even for an iPhone whose camera has a 5.0 MP resolution.

  • In search of a good digital camera/video recorder

Hello everyone!   I'm new here & I need some advice.  I'm looking for a good digital camera/video recorder for mostly family pics & videos.  I also need some feature that's good for actions shots.  My daughter is a competitive swimmer & we always take pics & videos at her swimming events.  I like to post the videos of her events on FB for friends & family who were unable to attend.  I want something very user friendly, easy to download on my computer but fairly compact so I can put it in a pocket that's in the $150 - $200 range.  Any suggestions would be much appreciated .

    Hi jbutcher,
To be honest no point-and-shoot camera will completely
meet your needs, and if you really want a camera that meets all your needs
(other than being compact) you would need to invest in a DSLR.
With that said I would look the reviews on each camera in
your price range on BestBuy.com first, and you should also be able to get some
good advice from a Digital Imaging expert in one of our stores.
With Point-and-Shoot cameras I tend to like Canon models
the best, and we do have the Canon SD1400 on sale right now for $199.99. You
could also look at the Sony H55, or the Nikon S6000 (both are currently selling
for less than $200, and should meet most of your expectations).
    I hope this helps!

  • Canon digital camera utilities

I've just got a new laptop with OS X 10.6 on which replaces my old one with OS X 10.4. I need to install the software for the Canon digital cameras but can only find 'updater' downloads for 10.6 which rely on you having the original installed on your computer. I have tried installing the software from the original discs but the computer doesn't recognise the CD, despite it spinning.
Does anyone know of anywhere I can download the full bundle of software that comes with Canon cameras? I have been to the Canon website, but that is where the 'updater' software is.
Any help would be much appreciated!
    Thanks!

I have Canon Camera Utilities running updated on my Snow Leopard. I moved everything over from my previous computer(s) using Migration Assistant and then Setup Assistant on the first bootup of the new Mac. I didn't need to re-install from the Canon Disk, so I don't have any experience doing it that way. Not sure, but it's possible that Disk might be too old for the new Mac to read properly. I know mine was from the 10.3 Panther era. Perhaps if you make sure you have Rosetta installed, the new Mac will then be able to read that Disk which was probably written for PPC Macs.
One possibility for a workaround would be to connect the two Macs together in Firewire Target Disk Mode and move that Canon Folder in Applications in its entirety over to the new Mac. I'm not sure of this, but there may not be any related files installed in places other than your Home Folder Library, and any of these should be recreated when you install, update and run the Application. I just had a very quick look and didn't see anything. So, moving over just that Folder which contains the Apps might be sufficient. (Make sure you have Rosetta installed, since the old Canon App will probably be PPC. The new Mac will be Intel.)
    Directions for Firewire Target.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1661
(The new laptop has Firewire 800, which uses a 9 pin Firewire cable and the old Mac may be Firewire 400 which uses a 6 pin cable, so you'll need a 9 to 6 pin cable. Check first to see what the Ports look like. The old 6 pin port is kind of rectangular and curved at one end. The new 9 pin is kind of square.)
The other possibility would be if you're in the US, you could call 1-800-OKCANON and ask for tech support for this issue.

  • Digital Camera is recognized but no photos are found

I just bought the referenced iMac. The computer recognizes my HP M537 Digital Camera, but does find any pictures. There were clearly 316 pictures on the camera, but iPhoto brought up a download page, and showed "0 Photos" on the screen.
I attached the same camera and cable to our Power PC eMac (1gb/1gb, Fall 2003) and low and behold, there were the pictues. I downloaded them to the eMac, and transfered them via a thumb drive.
Also, the machine does not recognize my laCie multiformat card reader(2004). I am not sure these two problems are the same.
Has anyone had a similar problem? Has anyone any idea what is up?

Did you try to manually "Add to Library" and drill down to the folder the images are stored on the camera?
Only problem I have had that's similar is putting older cd's that had files and only the folders show up and no files. My laptop PC sees them but the new iMac does not. Probably a compatibility issue with the drive and the cd or method the cd was burnt with but that's the only thing I have that's close.
I have had a mobile device not open iphoto and show 0 pictures until I do "Add to Library" and I drill down about 3-4 folders deep to pull my images out, so that's why I ask if you tried that.

  • IPhoto doesn't recognize digital camera

I just upgraded to Leopard and now iPhoto won't recognize my Casio Exilim Z750 camera. The device actually shows up in iPhoto but it won't show the contents of the camera in order for me to download them to my system. The camera also shows up in my Finder but I'm unable to access the contents. Furthermore, I'm unable to Eject the camera and am forced to unplug it without ejecting. Not sure if I need to purchase a card reader or if I need to update the driver. I searched the Casio website and they don't have a new driver for the camera. Any suggestions?

NOTHING recognized my Canon SD700IS digital camera when I upgraded to Leopard... not iPhoto6... not Image Capture... not even the supplied Canon utilities. I hadn't changed any settings on anything... camera or computer... the only difference was that I installed Leopard. Then... thanks to this thread... I thought to check system profiler... and nope... not even seen there. So I tried moving my USB cord from my 7 port USB 2.0 hub to a port directly in the back of my iMac. That solved the problem. Kind of annoying since it worked fine under Tiger.
