Digital Copies Not Playing - Gray Screen

This is extremely frustrating. I bought the new Lord of the Rings on Blue Ray and they came with a digital copy. I downloaded the digital copy from Itunes and now when I go to play it, it only shows a gray screen and no sound. The timer bar is moving like the movie is playing, but no video or sound.
I searched and found a similar thread here, but nothing in it worked.
- I have deathorized and authorized my computer again
- I have deauthorized, restarted iTunes and then authorized the computer
- I have the latest and greatest version of iTunes, quicktime, and every other piece of software I own
- The videos play fine on my iphone, but not in iTunes on my iMac.

I have contacted Apple support and they have confirmed that this is a know issue. I get the same gray screen, but oddly enough I can play old movies that I added a couple of months ago.
Apple support had me try and play the movies in other players with the same result. So it seems the authentication process that happens when you enter in the authorization code is broken and is not copying the digital movie properly to the computer.
Looks like we will have to wait for an update from Apple before this gets fixed.

Why do my Digital copies not play in iTunes

I have the digital copy of the disc and iTunes imports the file with no problems, it synchs with my iPad 2 and plays perfectly on there but the movie will not play in iTunes. There is no sound or picture (just black screen). The files are .m4v and play perfectly in Quick Time but not in VLC Media Player. My operating system is Windows Vista.

You need to be a lot more specific.
Songs do not magically appear in Playlists, you put them there. However, songs may appear in Smart Playlists, if the songs meet the rules for that Playlist. What are these Playlists, why would you expect purchased songs to appear in them?

ITunes videos don't play/gray screen

When my daughter clicks to play her purchased iTunes videos, a gray screen (with controls) comes up but there is no video nor audio. Her audio iTunes purchases play fine...it's just the videos that have this problme.

Thanks for the response, but I have already tried that. In addition, I have tried all the easy fixes (removing iTunes and re-installing it, removing the video and re-downloading it, etc.) that are listed on the various Apple help pages or have been suggested by Apple support representatives. However, the problem persists. Perhaps you could forward this on to one of the iTunes software developers? Thanks!

Some videos will not play (blank screen).

Some of my videos will not play. I select the video and a "Play" arrow shows in the upper left portion of the screen, but the screen is dark (blank). I can press Menu and return.
I don't believe it's a size issue because certain other larger videos do play. Nor do I think it's a format issue because all of the videos are the same format (*.m4v). It also doesn't appear to be a time/sync issue because some videos added after others do play and some don't.
I really don't have a problem reformatting and starting over if that is the best or only solution as I only use iTunes and don't have calendar, notes, etc.

Where are these from? Are they from the iTunes Store or where they downloaded elsewhere and then added to your library? Perhaps you can try restoring your iPod to factory settings and then resyncing the videos back over to it.
If the videos are not from iTunes, perhaps you can try and re-convert them using a third party utility such as Handbrake or MPEG Streamclip.

Digital Copy not playing

Hi, I finally decided to get my digital copies for a couple of my blu-rays (namely The Dark Knight and Rambo). I try to play them on my itunes, it says they are playing but no audio or video is coming out. I even put them on my 5g 30gb iPod and no luck, it'll load and go back to the menu. Anyone experienced a problem like this before and if so how did you fix it?

I have the same problem. It works great on my old PC with i tunes9.
I'm going to the apple store hope to get some answers.

Why do music videos not play full screen when not in video app on iPad and iPhone? video app is worthless, cannot sort or build playlists.

Is there a way to build video playlist within itunes that will play full screen or landscape? I do not like the video app.

It sounds like when you stream videos to your iOS devices using Home Sharing, you only get either video or audio.

Digital copies not in account purchases

I got a new laptop not too long ago. Captain America and Thor are two movies I show as being downloaded on my purchase history in my account (downloaded the digital copies of both on my old laptop). However, they aren't showing up on my iTunes purchases. Other digital downloads are listed in my downloadable purchases except these two and maybe one or two more. How do I get them back?

Make sure you have authorised your computer with itunes as well as your account then try to re-open itunes, see if that works, if not you will have to call them since they are the only ones with access to your account information.

My macbook does not start, gray screen, apple and turning gear appears

my macbook froze. then shut down the computer to clear the freeze condition. when trying to restart, the computer starts to boot,the apple appears on the screen, the gear rotates, however the computer does not continue to boot. can anyone help?

That would normally indicate a problem with the Hard Drive.
Do you have an Instal Disc to try to boot from? Hold the Mouse button down when powering up & eject if there's a Disc in it now.
The fans going strong is a safety feature when no OS is loaded.
Does it boot into any of these modes?
Holding Option/alt key at bootup.
Holding SHIFT key at bootup.

Adobe TV - Video Does Not Play (Black Screen!) OSX 10.6.8

I cannot get the Adobe TV videos to play. Only a black screen.
I use Mac OSX 10.6.8 and have the recent Flash player installed (11.5.502.146). I tried to troubleshoot on Firefox, Chrome and Safari.
I tried to apply all the settings that some used to get it to work through here but no go.

Checking "Allow third-party Flash Content to store data on your computer" didn't help?
- No, it didn't.
Do you find that website flash settings, like volume levels in youtube, are always reset for you?
- No, the volume is set to full, I just checked with couple of videos.
You might want to reset your Flash Player settings entirely to see if that helps.
- Do you mean "Delete All" data in the Flash Player setting in System Preferences. If so, I did this as well and no go.
What else can it be?

Netflix app for ipod touch not working - gray screen

I downloaded the netflix app today, but when I open the program it loads the netflix welcome screen then the screen goes gray and nothing happens. How do I get netflix to work on my 2nd generation ipod touch? I am running iOS4.

A friend from work came up with this, but I forgot to ask him how he came across it. I think his Ipad was working then stopped and he didn't change anything and figured out the time was off.
If most people are having a time issue it makes sense that mostly ipod touchs' are affected, since the iphone should sync its time via cellular magic and the touchs' don't do this.
I guess the netflix app is doing some sort of authentication and the time being off causes it issues.

Digital copies not syncing

I cannot sync any movies that I have purchased a digital copy of (at i.e Best Buy).
All of my options on iTunes are greyed out.

The digital copy has downloaded fine to iTunes using the redemption code and can be viewed on my iMac through iTunes. I cannot get the movie to sync to my iPhone 5. When I try to save a copy of the movie in an different format, the choices are greyed out. The movie appears to be protected in some way.

Someone said it may be the video card but Idk if that is right.

How do I move DVD digital copies from my iphone to a new computer's itunes account, same Apple ID?

I just got a MacBook Pro and I also have an iphone. My current main itunes is on a PC that I will not use any longer. I have several movies on my iphone which came with DVD's as digital copies, not purchased through itunes store.
In the past, I've lost these kinds of movie digital copies through syncing my phone on a new computer. I don't want this to happen again but I am totally lost since these are not itunes purchases.
How can I sync my iphone on my new mac's itunes and not "erase and replace" all the movies currently on my phone? Or how can I get them onto my Mac's itunes account so when I do sync my iphone, they'll still be there?

Since it's not all from the iTunes Store, you should copy your library from your old computer to your new one, as noted above. If that's not possible and you can use only your phone as the file source, you will need to use a third-party utility such as Senuti:

Frozen, gray screen

Purchased directly from Microsoft Store. My screen came up blank one morning. No prior indications of any problem, no drops or trauma to the laptop overnight, it just was blank and GRAY. I see lots of entries for a BLACK screen but not a GRAY screen. I plug in an external monitor via the HDMI port and with some fiddling with the f4 key I get it to display there. It displays perfectly with "duplicate" and "second screen only". In testing and messing with it I restarted with it set to DUPLICATE screen, and saw on the laptop, faintly, the same image that was on the external screen. However, the mouse would not move in the laptop screen (external nor touchpad) and the screen fairly quickly faded into uniform gray with nothing visible. The external monitor responds to mouse and works fine. I have refreshed all the drivers and have a driver history from Driver Store Explorer - although II have no idea which might be a suspect driver. I am now thinking this is a hardware issue. Does this touch a memory for anyone? Before I take it in to the commercial tech guys to tear apart, is there something I can do to test where exactly the problem lies?Video card or cable?Screen itself? (that would be nice, replacement screen is "cheap" and I can do it myself)Some controller or piece of hardware I have no clue of?since it only has 32GB I can't upgrade to 10, but I can still use it and it works fine with 8.1, just isn't portable. According to the apple store my hard drive died (after less then six months of completely non stressful computing??) and they are replacing it. In the meantime I have a lot of files on my time machine backup that I desperately need access to. Whenever I try to open up any of the folders in Backups.backupdp on my external hard drive I get a pop up window saying "The volume for "whichever folder I doubleclick" cannot be found. Insert the disk or connect to the server volume and wait for it to appear on the desktop, then try again." Does anybody know of a way to access folders in a timemachine backup without screwing it up so that I will be able to restore it onto my computer when I get it back?
