Digital decoding returned?

I have a X-Fi Xtreme Music (SB460). Recently bought a frontal panel from Sound Blaster Audigy 2 and it works correctly with my X-FI, even digital decoding. Just check.
Sound Blaster X-FI.jpg
I tested it with the Xbox 360 and it works: No CMSS but true dolby surround.
DTS decoding is enabled too.
I use the recent 2013 driver from Creative, without hacks.

My card always has Dolby and DTS decoding for internal media. As many people knows, you only have to switch the output to spdif and activate decoding in Creative Console Launcher. All that in the first X-Fi generation.
But i never got the SPIDF input working in decode mode, it always looked gray and forbbiden.
I bought the little i/o module and never got dolby digital and DTS decoding for external devices, only PCM reception. Later I read that this feature was cut off for some legal restrictions and bitstreams decoding was preserved only for internal sources. So i declined to go on, but i bought the i/o drive and that was all, the feature apeared.
It is not perfect: I noticed a little delay and the audio sounds diferent, not such as decoding internal media. It sounds as a diferent decoder: There is already a crossover bass redirection and the dolby decoding sounds always like in Theater Mode. Listening that, i prefer the Extigy for decoding the XBOX 360 audio.
That was my experience.

what speakers do the Creative Labs DDTS-100 Digital Decoder-Upto 7.1 work with thanks

Unless the Digital 5500 speaker set has analog inputs it can't be used with the DDTS-100. You must connect the DDTS-100 to a speaker system through the analog outputs either from the main unit or the switchbox. I have not heard of any cables to convert analog audio into digital form so digital speakers can understand and play it.
The best speaker system? I have absolutely no idea dude. You must be the judge of that, if it is you who are going to listen to it. I like my S750 system but that is me. You have to read loads of info and reviews and preferably listen to them in a store if you can.

  • DDTS-100 digital decoder

I plan to buy and use the DDTS - 100 digital decoder with a
Klipsch 5.1 speaker system in the living room as a home theater for the time being.
Just wondering, is their a built in equalizer of any kind in the DDTS - 100 that
you can access with the remote or from the main device?
I have read all about the decoder, but so far unable to find anything indicating
that it has a mixer or eq to adjust the sound with.

  • No Digital Decoder or option to use optical digital ports X-FI PCIe sound blas

Hi,I'm new to this board and I just got the new Soundblaster X-FI PCI express card. I'm dual booting both 32 and 64 bit versions of Windows XP and I don't seem to have any access to my digital optical ports. I dont have the doby digital decoder tabs in the sound settings on either windows or the Creative software. I'm a bit confused as I thought that would have installed when I ran the setup from the disk. I feel kind of dumb since im going to assume something either didnt install right or I might have to download something. I know the card has to support digital audio as it has the ports so maybe something is not set right? I tried doing a search but couldnt find anything specific to my problem. Thanks in adavance,SDB

Well, after a more detailed search I have found out that the Creative Labs PCI express X-Fi xtreem audio sound card can not decode DTS or Dolby. I was confused as I didnt know it didnt have that ability. Poop. I have to say that it might behoove Creative to make that clear on their website as I would have bought a better one had I known. Otherwise the card is awsome and I'm just going to have to pay the restocking fee but at least I can get most of my money back from where I got it. Seriously, I should have done a better job at doing my homework. I'll probably get another X-Fi card cux it sounds awsome with my new creative 7. speakers. Just wish I had known before hand. Anyway, maybe this will be helpful to other people.

  • Does the X-Fi Champion Series do Digital decodi

I am looking for a new soundcard, and the XFi Platinum Fatalty Champion Series is on the top of my list. However, after searching every specification site I could find, and browsing/searching through this forum, I still am not completely sure if the soundcard does Digital Decoding by itself or not. (if I were to plug a digital input in the optical, will I be able to listen to this through my analoge 7. speakerset?)?Many thanks in advance, any clarification on the subject is appreciated.Message Edited by eelco on 07-24-20070:34 PM

Or would the software be able to decode the digital input, even not when playing a movie?Else I see no use for digital input on the I/O box...
No, the software does not decode from the digital input.Digital input on that card can be used for stereo PCM signals. Search the net for hacked drivers.. who knows

I can't have de digital sound of my soundcard, beacause my speaker systems don?t have that type of cable (for digital sound, my system have a coaxial and optical.
How can ? conect my speakers (wich have an external decoder) to the digital out of de SB Audigy 2zs? I have buy de Creative Digital I/O Module, that have coaxil and optical output, but this not work in Audigy 2 zs....(:
Have I buy another speakers? this speaker?s are great, and I have my dvd conected to him.
    Tks.

There's a digital output on the card itself. 'tis the farthest one from the motherboard I beli've.
What you erally need is a cable like t his one:
    http://www.needledoctor.com/Sony-RK-...=2&category=92
Plug the mini-plug end into the soundcard and one of the outputs ( the left channel I believe ) will have the digital output.
You will only get surround sound via the decoder if when playing back pre-encoded DD/DTS content like DVDs. Games and stuff will playback in stereo when connected digitally as SPDIF only supports compressed multi-channel bitstreams or uncompressed 2 channel audio. No Creative card at present offers real time DD/DTS encoding ( there're other cards which do which support Dolby Digital Li've! or DTS Connect. ) Creative have a DTS encoder called the DTS-60 which can take analogue signals from the soundcard ( stereo mini-plug x 3 ) and encode it to DTS for output via a coaxial or optical SPDIF in real time. I've never used the DTS-60 and can't comment on how good it is. Also note that the Audigy 2 ZS has weak bass redirection if using the DTS-60 and the 60 lacks bass redirection of its own so you could very well end up with a 'bass-less' signal if you're connecting to small speakers, unless your decoder has volume controls for the subwoofer.Message Edited by nvidiot on 09-27-2006 0:32 PM

  • Problem with inspire 5100 digital decoder

I have some problem with the decoder included with the Inspire 500 digital. I usually have it connected by soundblaster's audigy digital out to decoder's coaxial digital in (SPDIF). and recently sound has dissaperas replaced by a chipping and cropping low noise. Have you any ideas about it's. When I connect the soundblaser's speakers out to decoder's line in works only for stereo (losing 5.1 capabilities), and bypassing the decoder i can get 5.1 sound, but i can't use the included remote control to change volume or anything.
    Thank you.
I'm sorry for my poor english, it's not my native lenguage.

I'm not sure exactly how you're connecting things. You say you connected an optic out to a digital DIN on the receiver? These are totally different connectors.
The output on the card itself isn't optical. What you could use is a minijack to RCA (female) adapter, and then connect a standard RCA to RCA, male to male (SPDIF) cable to that, which plugs into the coaxial input on the receiver. Alternati'vely you could use a minijack to Digital DIN adapter and connect the DIN cable to that, and connect to the receiver.
Do you have the SBLi've 24-bit External? Do you mean you connected the optical output to the optical input on the receiver?
It may be best to contact Customer Support to speak to them one-on-one, to go over the connections and settings, if you're unsure of which to use.

  • Audigy nx dolby digital decod

I have one of these units for my acer aspire laptop, i have NEVER got it to decode the dolby digital from a bought dvd yet, it doesnt even show the dolby light.. all the speakers test as o0k with the test tone, but put in a dolby surround dvd and all you get is two channel stereo.
So much for 5: surround sound, not much use of half your speakers are redundant.
Anyone else encountered and / or SOLVED this id really appreciate any info you have

Sorry, for some reason I suggested selecting 'SPDIF Pass Through' :smileyindifferent:. Actually if you are using analogue speakers, this option should be off. Just selecting SPDIF output in the DVD software should work.

  • Suggestion :x-fi dolby digital decoding vs logitech 680z optical decod

high guys , i got the xfi platinum because my set of speakers , logitech 680z has dolby digital and DTS decoding trough spdif blow by , and i also noticed that the x-fi has built in decoding .
im split in half because i think the sounds quality will travel clerer trough an optical cable than analog cables to my set of speakers , but i think the card would do a better job decoding in and enhancing the sound with the crystalizer (although dvd sounds should be 24 bit anyhow) and on more updated drivers.
however the logitech its not a full home teather system , is barely a high end computer speaker system that sounds great here is what it looks like http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/pr...CONTENTID=9486
so what is your take on it ? dolby digital blow by with optical cable and external so so decoder , or xfi decoding with with the loss of analog cables ?

alexs3d2 wrote:The site you linked to is actually for the newer Z-5500s. The best way to go forward is to test it by yourself and select the mode that sounds best. If it wasn't for the Crystalizer I would say to allow the external amplifier to do the work. Don't worry about the analog cabling, it shouldn't change your sound or add noice in any conceivable way.
first of all thanks for your opinion .
and the link i provided is because they dont sport the z680s on the website and the 5500 are the direct succesors , however they are the same decoder , save the nicer polished look and the bigger woofer ,dual speaker satelites and extra watage .

  • How come I get Dolby Digital decoding, CMSS, and EAX effec

Perhaps this is related to the fact that I use either headphones or 2. speakers. The info on the Vista beta driver says I'll get no dolby digital, CMSS, etc.
But, in PowerDVD I set to SP/DIF and the Creative decoder gives me the DVD audio fine! I turn on CMSS 2 and it expands things nicely for my headphones just like on XP.
Same with the Advanced EQ EAX settings and CMSS 2 with mp3 listening with headphones. The different settings all work, and have worked even before the Vista driver came out when I was using the XP driver.
Is it just the expansion to 5. speakers that doesn't work yet? Because the headphone listening effects seem to not only work, but music and DVD's actually sound better than on XP!
Further info: Vista RC Build 5728 32-bit, Audigy 2 ZS Platinum, Vista Beta Driver.
The driver install went perfectly except for some error messages on the first restart about driver access.
The major improvement for me regarding the Beta drivers over the XP ones is that Creative Soundfont Manager and Soundfont midi now works. I custom installed the Soundfont Manager, AudioHQ, and found that for some reason the DTS/Neo stuff gets installed along with System Info and Registration even when not selected. I left out everything else and did not install MediaSource Player.
Audio Console is able to control all the stuff in it. EAX Control in AudioHQ doesn't seem to work properly but Audio Console can switch between the preconfigured settings and the changes take effect fine.
Just no EQ. I tried installing it and it wouldn't run. That's how I found out the DTS stuff is installed. I noticed it when uninstalling the EQ.
The Advanced EQ in Audio Console works fine though.
Apparently the Vista Audio improvements help out the sound quality. At least for mp3 listening and DVD's, things are sounding quite a bit better than they do on 9x or XP.
Now if we could get a new driver/software package from Creative. Heck, they did it for Li've/Audigy shortly after XP came out (redesigning the whole package). Maybe they'll actually make us happy and give us a similar easy to install package that all works together.
I'm sure this won't happen until after Vista final comes out, but I wouldn't be surprised if they have this in mind.
It's just frustrating during the beta period. Especially for those that haven't gotten good (or, any) results.
It's weird. I know I've been lucky but nearly anything I've tried since starting to test Vista with my Audigy 2 ZS has mostly worked.

From what I've seen, the most of the problems with the cards are with the 64-bit drivers. My Audigy 4 also works with the XP drivers of the CD and Vista B2 drivers as much as they should. Many people don't realize that it is a beta driver, on a new OS (which is now in final development) so some things will and will not work. Also many people don't read readmes and such and still complain on things that where stated. Such as the Vista B2 drivers for the Audigy series
    Known issues:
    * Waking your computer from sleep or hibernate mode stops audio output. To resolve this, restart your computer.
    * In this download, the Effects Amount slider in EAX is disabled.
    * To configure your speakers, use Audio Console only. Configuring your speakers in "Audio Devices and Sound Themes" in Control Panel may result in loss of audio during playback in Windows Media? Player. To resolve this issue, close and reopen Windows Media Player again.
    * This download does not support
o Dolby? Digital or DTS? decoding
    o CMSS?-3D
    o recording
    o 6. speaker systems
All thats stated is pretty much what people are complaining. Though its stated what won't work, they may work due to its a general driver and not a specific driver. So some may have somethings working on one card, and not on the other.

  • So, how do I get Dolby Digital decoding aga

Do these new drivers still haven't fixed the DD in vista? Do I really need to buy a newer X-Fi card?

Remember this I think DDL will be in a seperate download...
    Hi everyone,
Dolby Digital Li've For Existing X-Fi and Audigy Owners
Further to our previous announcement, we anticipate making the Dolby Digital Live feature available in early August. The Dolby Digital Live feature will only be compatible with Sound Blaster X-Fi products with the EMU20k processor and Sound Blaster Audigy products that include a SPDIF output standard on the card or include a SPDIF output via a separate card or I/O dri've.
The Dolby Digital Live component will be made available for US$4.72.
    Thank you,
    The Sound Blaster Team
As for plain old dts and DD, I think it's broken recently -AC3Filter ftw

  • Is the dtt3500 digital decoder a amplifire as well

the dtt3500 digital is a dcoder and a amplifire is int it

Well if you are going to have two mics - you do not want to get a USB mic - as you will have trouble getting two USB mics to work at once.
I would suggest using a Pre-Amp like the M-Audio MobilePre USB and two MXL-990 Condensor Mics.

  • Digital 5700 Decoder

Hi,I have an issue with the Inspire 5.1 Digital 5700 decoder( I did log a call with Customer Services, but I'll get to that in a bit!). Essentially, when I power the on, the LED light goes from red to green. I then select the output I require? everything is fine. Seconds later, the unit switches itself off and the LED light goes back to red! When I try to turn it back on again, it always goes back to red. I logged a call with Customer Services, who asked what happens when I "gently tap" the unit. The LED does go to green, but eventually goes back to red again. Customer Services also asked me for the serial number, which I duly provided (CAMF375047000040N). They came back saying that they had no record of that serial number on their system. I even took photos of the unit with the SN and sent them across, but they still came asking me for proof of purchase and a 3rd confirmation of the SN. I'm at a bit of a loss as I no longer have the proof of purchase. The unit is 2.5 years old, and possible out of warranty. But I would like to know if what is happening with the unit is a common problem and if there is a fix? If there isn't, then I'll have to throw everything away and start again. Many thanks

    MasterRusty,
I have a post on here titled "inspire 5700's are junk" from back in Dec 2004, you are having the same problem with yours that I had so don't worry they will quit working altogether very soon. The digital decoder goes out in them usually within a year AFTER the warranty goes out so creative just says " oh well they are more than year old so too bad" I know from experience with them. There is nothing you can do about this except to pack them up and buy another brand. I stated before that maybe if enough people wrote in stating their problems with this system that maybe just maybe creative would realize that there really is a problem here and they would take a serious look into it and admit that yes we screwed up here and we will fix the problem for our customers, but I really doubt it because as I said before " they are the big company and we are the little people". I was told that "we can't offer unlimited warranties on our products" which I understand; but if you look at some of the other speaker companies they offer 2,3 even 4 year warranties, but again as I said you are really out of luck. I would really like to see Creative make a liar out of me and look into the problem and make things right for us, but I feel that is only a wish that won't come true.
    good luck,
    MrDave
