Digital editions 2.0 won't open

had the old digital editions but it was not working anymore so downloaded 2.0...this will not open at all. tried to uninstall it but it says it is running and I have to close it...BUT how do I close it if I can't open it?? thank you

There are lots of bugs in ADE2.0 (and 2.0.1). Try replacing ADE2.0 with the older but more reliable v1.7.2.
(You can have them both installed at once if you like.)
Version 1.7.2, it is a little difficult to find, available on Adobe site for Windows and for Mac.

Digital Editions 4.0 will not open after installation on Windows XP laptop.

Digital Editions 4.0 will not open after installation on Windows XP laptop. DigitalEditions 3.0 installs and opens fine. Have tried 4.0 several times. Removed 3.0 and 4.0, reboot, reinstall 4.0 still will not open. Error message says Windows has experienced and problem and requires that Digital Editions must be shut down.

Solved my own problem. It was necessary to delete all instances of Adobe Digital Editions in programs and the registry. After doing so and reinstalling 4.02...., it became available in the "open with" dialogue box and became the default epub reader.

Adobe Digital Editions quits unexpectedly when I open a book.

I have the same problem but no one seems to be able to help- I have spoken to kobo, apple and the library and no one has been able to rectify this issue. I think kobo has a software issue but they don't seem to want to look into it.

Unfortunately we just cannot help you in the way that you desire. We have no ability to open your book directly and do anything to it. It's all tied into the DRM and the fingerprint of your machine.
So, I looked at the case. And here's what I think. I think there probably -is- an error, and it's probably being thrown into the ADE error log. You can turn on error logging
You might not be interested in continuing, and that's fine, I understand. But I'm going to ask a higher level tech to take over the case anyway. And we'll make a policy exception and give you an email you can send the error log to (although you can attach stuff to our web case system.. that's a lot easier than FTP).

I really just need help getting the adobe reader to respond and open. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling multiple times. I tried restoring the settings. I tried troubleshooting and changing the settings. All it does is give me an error saying it stopped working everytime I try to open it. Please respond if you really know what your talking about thank you.

If Adobe Digital Edition 4.0.3 is open and no book is opened, it crashes when minimizing the window

I am trying to find a fix for this issue and I saw on a lot's of post, that people are having the same problem as I am with Adobe Digital Edition 4.0.3. If I open Adobe Digital Editions 4.0.3 with no book opened and I minimized the window, then it crashes and it give's me the following error message:

success. ADE 4.0 is to be avoided. It crashed after my solution.
The solution is trash the activation.dat preference file.
Navigate to /Users//Library/Application Support/Adobe/Digital Editions and drag the activation.dat file to the trash.

I reinstalled ADE 3.0 and life is good.

Suddenly today some entries on my pc icloud calendar can't be accessed/edited - they just won't open. Some work, others don't. (All OK if l try to do it on iphone/ipad) All worked fine till today

I find today when I open my icloud calendar on my PC that I cannot access/edit some of the entries - some are fine, others just won't open. If I click on them, they open a 'new entry' box, but will not give me access to the original entry.
If I go to my iphone or ipad, I can access them all fine.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled icloud on my PC, but still the same thing happens.
Is anyone else experiencing similar problems?

All I can suggest is that you open that file on the MBA and save it as a new file, then see if you can open the new one on the iMac.

Computer authorized to old (defunct email address), updated Adobe ID. Digital Editions (reinstalled twice) won't decrypt and add downloaded PDF books

iMac Intel running OS 10.6.8 I downloaded purchased books from Google Play/Books in EPUB and PDF. They are encrypted (.pdf.acsm). Adobe Digital Editions reader will not add them to my library because, I suspect, my computer is authorized with an Adobe ID that uses a now defunct email address. I have updated my ID on the Adobe web site, redownloaded and reinstalled Adobe Digital Editions but my computer remains authorized to the old Adobe ID. How do I decrypt these purchased books and read them in Adobe Digital Editions on my computer?

Ok so, I finally managed to remove the failed activation and then I reactivated after which I could read the ebook.
I used this method here: I can't de authorize my computer. It just keeps saying to try again later.
to deactivate, and then repeated the activation process.
Adobe, surely many many people have this problem with a new install, and to have to resort to editing the registry in order to fix it is just madness.
Why does the activation fail the first time, and why then does deactivation also fail? PLEASE FIX YOUR PRODUCTS.

Digital amplifier cd box won't open after I push the eject button

My digital amplifier cd box does not open after I push the eject button. Then it starts reading and shows no disc. I can't get it open to put a disc in. Please help.

If you experience difficulty with the disc tray opening or closing, follow these steps to try to resolve the issue:
Turn off the power to the disc player or the stereo system, if the disc player does not have a separate POWER button.
Unplug the power cord from the AC outlet.
Verify there is nothing is blocking the tray from opening or closing.
Let the disc player or the stereo system remain without power for approximately one minute.
Plug the power cord back into the AC outlet.
Turn on the power to the disc player or stereo system.
Attempt to open or close the disc drawer or tray.
If issue recurs, reset the unit to factory settings (attached below are the steps):

Edited Raw Files Won't Open In CS4

I run Lightroom v 3.3 and now that I have sorted out a CS$ problem I am unable to open an edited nikon raw file in CS$ via the option Photo/edit in/CS4. I get this message 'Lightroom was unable to prepare the selected files at volume/........ for editing. It will not be opened.
So whilst I used to be able to open seamlessly and edit raw images in CS4 after doing work in LR3.3 I cannot now do so. Is it an issue with Lightroom (I suspect it is) or a setting in my camera D3s?
Just prior to this I could not open these same files in CS4 without a serious degradation in the colour but corrected that by unchecking 'compensate for scene-referred profiles' in colour management in CS4.
I am Mac with latest snow leopard OS.
Can anyone advise, please?

Sorry You can actually upgrade to Camera Raw 5.6
Delete the existing Camera Raw 8bi file from the File Formats Folder before starting
Click and download the plug-in
Open the zip folder you just downloaded and click Extract Files.
You should see the plug-in file you need. The plug in has a file name: Camera Raw.8bi
Now drag the plug-in file (or copy it) into the File Formats folder in the following location:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\Elements 6\File Formats\
Note: Before you start the download you need to do some preparation. Navigate to the File Formats File on the Laptop and move Camera Raw.8bi I suggest you move it from the File Formats folder to My Documents or drag it to the desktop before you begin. This will prevent it being overwritten by the new Camera Raw file (it will have the same name) and you can always move it back again if the download installation fails.
If your laptop is running a 64-bit edition of Windows, then move the plug-in file from the unzipped download folder by navigating to:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 6.0\Plug-Ins\File Formats.

Why won't my digital editions open or update automatically?

I can't access any of my books on digital editions because when the program opens I get an error message saying I must download the newest update. When I click on this message to update it just shuts down Editions and doesn't take me to an update webpage. Also, when I click to update later, it shuts down Editions as well. I tried downloading the newest version on the adobe website, but this just opens my current program with the same error message. Help! This is so frustrating. I paid for my e-books and I want to be able to read them!

You can download the latest version of Digital Editions by going to http://www.adobe.com/products/digitaleditions , however since that doesn't seem to be working for you will want to use the stand alone installer which you can get at http://www.adobe.com/devnet/digitalpublishing/ (click on "Digital Editions Stand Alone Installer" link)

How do I open a acsm file with the newest version of Adobe Digital Editions

I purchased an ebook that was delivered in the the Adobe .acsm format. When I downloaded it, I specified that the Adobe Digital Editions as the app to open the file. ADE launched, loaded my old books but the new book was not loaded. I also tried to load the book from the ADE, but the book shows up as a grayed out item that I cannot select. I am running the book reader on a Mac running OS X 10.5.8 and have downloaded the lastest version of the ADE. Has anyone else had a similar problem? Thanks, Yvonne

I'm having the same problem. I have the latest Adobe Reader version, have Mac OS X 10.6.4, and I cannot open any .acsm file-old or new. I've also tried to load the book from the ADE, but the book shows up as a grayed out item that I cannot select. I've tried everything, but to no avail. The #2038 error indicates that ADE cannot get to Activation server. This generally happens because of either system or application level firewalls disallow access to the Adobe activation site (http://adeactivate.adobe.com/adept/)
Try disabling the firewall and check.
