Digital Editions does not recognize Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Nook?
I downloaded Digital Editions from my public library after uninstalling the previous copy. It recognizes my old Nook, but not the new Samsung Nook. Now I find I can't even transfer .epub books from the library to Digital Editions. I tried multiple books and even tried to transfer books I had read before.

Digital editions does not recognise Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7
Digital editions does not recognise my Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7. The device is authorised. Please help. Thanks
Your last post is confusing - and the technology is unforgiving. So let me
see if I can piece this together....
Starting with the Tab 7.7: some manufacturers have devices that they
improve upon and claim compatibility because they're 'just like' XUY that
they made last year. Sometimes this is true, but often, the user ends up
with claims and not much function. Samsung is pretty good about this, but
you can't assume that, just because you can connect the Tab to your
computer and move stuff back and forth, that the programs on your computer
are going to work with your Tab - and vice versa.
The OS on the tablet is NOT compatible with ADE, so you can't drag and drop
ebooks as you would with other ereaders. You have to use utility programs
to move the ebook to your Tab. Once you move the ebook to the tablet,
Aldiko should be the program that you use to read the ebook. In your
situation, all ADE is doing is retrieving the ebook from the source, and
storing it on your computer.
You mention "software/apps that are available for DRM". DRM is the copy
protection on an ebook. It's a software switch built into the ebook's ID
file and all that it does is to tell you whether or not you can copy or
print the ebook. ADE and Aldiko look at the switch when you open or try to
copy the ebook. And if the DRM settings are preventing Aldiko from opening
the ebook, you're stuck. Those settings come from the publisher,
distributor or author, not from either ADE or Aldiko. You can try to open
the ebook on your computer with ADE and see if you get the same results.
You mention error messages. I think, from the context, you're getting them
on the Tab when you try to do something with the ebook. Any messages
relating to time relate to the settings for your time, date and time zone.
I'm guessing here, but I think your Tab's settings aren't the same as your
computer's, and that's why you get the 'expired' message. The 'unknown
error' message may be from Aldiko - and we're not equipped here in the ADE
forum to deal with that one - sorry! If the error message section of the
Aldiko user guide doesn't tell you either, then you might be able to find
out what to do about it from an Aldiko forum.
Your Overdrive comment has me puzzled. I looked for some context in the
other posts in this stream, and I didn't see anything that helped.
Overdrive is a 'elibrary management system' that does much the same thing
as ADE does. So, you can import and export ebooks via Overdrive. Your
situation seems to revolve around how you get ebooks onto your Tab and then
get Aldiko to open them for you to read, and I don't know if Overdrive
supports the Tab either.

Digital Editions does not recognize and authorize sony PRS-505
The problem is that it my first purchase a DRMed ebook at dieselbooks and I dowloaded digital editions and authorized it with no problems,
i downloaded the ebook and i was able to read it on digital editions. But the problem is that when i plug in the sony reader digital editions does not recognize it, so i cant authorize it and im unable to read the ebook on sony reader prs 505.
Since the ebook is DRMed i cant use another program to do it, i tried acrobat 8 with no solution.
Do you guys have an idea how to solve this problem?Make sure you have installed and are running the latest Sony EBL software, the installation contains the needed drivers for ADE to talk to the 505. Note: if you are running on a Mac, ADE will not be able to talk to the 505 and you will have to use the Sony EBL 3.x instead.

Digital Editions does not recognize my new Ereader
Today I got a brand new Sony PSC 900 ereader.
I plugged it in, loaded up Digital Editions and guess what? The Digital Editions program did not recognize my device.
So, i am unalble to download and view books on my reader.
I uninstalled and re-installed digital editions.
I was able to use Calibre with no problems whatsoever so i know its not the reader.
Can anyone assist me?
Thanks.
ArielYou didn't mention whether you've activated your new ereader with the SONY
Reader Store or not. You must do that first, because ADE will look to see
that it has been done before it will authenticate the device and permit you
to transfer ebooks to it.
During that process, be sure to tell the SONY Reader Store that you do NOT
want SONY to handle .epub and .ascm documents - that's the job of ADE.
Once you've activated your ereader, please follow the instructions that come
with it to set it up with ADE.

Adobe Reader XI Pro does not recognize Samsung Multifunction Xpress M2875FD. I can not edit the PDF documents that I scan it. What do I do?
We need to find out what you actually have here. There is no Adobe Reader Pro. There is Adobe Reader and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
With Acrobat Pro, you may be able to do some editing after running OCR. With Adobe Reader, you cannot edit.
Which one do you have? -
Adobe Digital Editions does not detect my e-reader
Can anyone help please? My Adobe Digital Editions does not detect my Sony e-reader and does not appear in my bookshelves. My laptop detects the device without any issues but Adobe does not - I have re-installed twice but still the same.
Re-installing is not the answer. Most likely, the issue is either the
sequence of events that you go through, whether the SONY ereader is
supported and whether it is registered properly. Let me go through these in
reverse order. I am assuming (dangerous) that the SONY is 'new to you'. If
not, then please accept my apologies.
You start with making sure that the SONY ereader is supported by Adobe
Digital Editions (ADE from now on). Check the list of supported devices
HERE <http://blogs.adobe.com/digitalpublishing/supported-devices>. If it
is, then you know that the rest of the process should work.
Next, attach the ereader to your computer. Let's assume a Windows
machine: plug it into a USB port and wait for Windows to recognise it and
tell you your hardware is ready to use. If you've done this before, check
that Windows has added your ereader as a device by going to My Computer and
looking at the disk drives. Your ereader should show up. Then, if you
haven't registered the ereader with SONY, you should go to their website.
It will look for attached ereaders and confirm that it finds yours.
Register it with SONY, using your Adobe ID and password. SONY will then
write a small record onto the ereader, which ADE needs to see. Close the
SONY website.
Next, bring up ADE. If all is well, ADE will recognise your ereader and it
will show up on your bookshelf. If there's a problem with the ereader, ADE
will tell you that, and we can go from there.
If all is well, you can transfer your ebooks via drag and drop. When you're
done, close ADE, but don't disconnect your SONY until it tells you it's
finished updating itself. THEN eject it via My Computer or the small icon
in the system tray at the bottom right of the screen.
Hope this helps!

Adobe Digital Editions does not decect my e-reader
Can anyone help please? My Adobe Digital Editions does not detect my Sony e-reader and does not appear in my bookshelves. My laptop detects the device without any issues but Adove does not - I have re-installed twice but still the same.
Sorry, but you are at the wrong forum; this one is only for discussions on the forums themselves. The Digital Editions forum is here:

I cannot add Adobe DRM settings on my new Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Nook because it doesn't recognize the ID/password combination that works on the Adobe website. Please let me know if I am in the wrong community.
Having the same issue, called B&N, have spent many hours and still no resolution. As a work-around, I downloaded bluefire reader on my nook. Then I used dropbox to take the book that I borrowed from the library and open in bluefire reader on my nook and that worked (still cannot see it in my nook library, but at least I can read the book).

How can I authorize my Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Nook to accept my ADE e-books?
I have transferred my ADE e-books onto my new Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Nook (7"). However, when I try to open them, they ask for authorization (email address and password). How can I authorize my device so it will recognize information and open my books? ADE doesn't see the Samsung Nook when I plug it into my computer, and the Samsung doesn't understand when I enter my information. I'm running ADE version 2.0.67532. Thanks for the help.
You will want to download a copy of Bluefire Reader from the Google Marketplace.

Does it support samsung galaxy tab?
thinking of purchasing the samsung galaxy tab but need confirmation on its availability on this tablet
I see that this thread is already old. Firefox 9 is now available in Galaxy Tab and as I have experienced, performance is quite frustrating. Most of the time, it causes my tablet to crash and I have to force shutdown.

I've tried resetting the password that doesn't work no matter what I try
I wish I had an answer, but the same thing is happening to me. Can I go back to the old version of Digital Editions, please? Any help is greatly appreciated.
Update: While I didn't answer the question above, I did manage to fix my problem. Here is the background: My old Nook was a Nook Color, which, while it was greatly loved and semi-intelligent, it wasn't a tablet. When I connected it to my computer, it was recognized as a device and showed up in Digital Editions. My library uses Overdrive to handle the borrowing and download/reading functions. When you borrow a book, you downloaded it to your computer, opened it in Digital Editions, and then did a "drag and drop" into your Nook. I had assumed that when I got my new Samsung Galaxy Tab Nook, it would work the same way. I had not adjusted my thinking to realize that the Tab is a true computer with an operating system (Android) such as that on my laptop. I was trying to fix the problem with the DRM authorization using every other ePub reader that I could find (installing the app and then attempting to open the book) and nothing worked. I finally got a message that clicked saying "You do not have rights to open this book" rather than the unhelpful message that I got from Digital Editions saying "Error! Check Authorization". I looked at my library's website and caught the notification that Overdrive has an app. I downloaded and installed it, connected to my library, logged in using my library card number and everything was there. Now, instead of downloading to my laptop and then moving the book to my Nook, I directly connect to my library's website and download the book to my Galaxy Tab. I could read directly in my browser (provided I was connected to the internet) but downloading ensures that I can read the book in any situation.
This absolutely does not fix the problem in the question above, nor does it answer why my old method worked for exactly two and a half books and then stopped working, but at least I learned something and I have a solution that means my Galaxy Tab can be used for the primary function of my old Nook, that of packing library books with me no matter where I am in a lightweight, easily read format. -
Why Adobe digital Edition does not accept my Adobe ID for authorisation my Computer?
Hello, who has experience in this question?
Most like answer is my first below. Second added as a possible solution if the first doesn't work.
1) ~~~~~
Sometimes ADE gets its registration/activation confused and in a semi-authorized state.
Uninstalling and reinstalling does not help.
Unfortunately, it often then gives misleading error messages about what is wrong.
A common incorrect message informs you that the ID is already in use on another computer and cannot be reused.
This can often be resolved by completely removing any authorization using ctrl-shift-D to the Library screen on ADE (cmd-shift-D if on Mac).
Restart ADE, and then reauthorize with your (old) Adobe ID.
In extreme cases on the mac, the following extra step has helped some people. Navigate to /Users//Library/Application Support/Adobe/Digital Editions and drag the activation.dat file to the trash. If you are using 10.7, see Access hidden user library files | Mac OS 10.7 Lion. http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1265248?tstart=0
2) ~~~~~~~~~
There are lots of bugs in ADE2.0 (and 2.0.1). Try replacing ADE2.0 with the older but more reliable v1.7.2.
(You can have them both installed at once if you like.)
Version 1.7.2, it is a little difficult to find, available on Adobe site for Windows and for Mac.
http://helpx.adobe.com/digital-editions/kb/cant-install-digital-editions.html
The forum software is sometimes corrupting the link above. There shouldn't be a blank in 'editio ns.html'. The following redirects to the same page: http://tinyurl.com/diged172
Some people have found ADE trying to upgrade automatically.
It appears (not 100% sure) that if you install ADE2.0 as a new install (not as an upgrade) that your 1.7.2 will continue to run.
Probably best to say no if 2.0.x installation asks if you want to migrate your library. -
Adobe Digital Editions does not turn pages
I installed Adobe digital editions 3. No matter what I do it does not turn pages!!! I have checked all FAQ but there is no answer to this errror. the turn page symbol arrow is not even highlighted. Can somebody help please?
LeoI have the same problem. (Windows 7 and Adobe Digital Edition 3.0) and it won't turn pages, not unless, I select turn page and then toggle between "Maximum" and "Restore Down." It works, but it's not convenient by a long stretch.
And it's hard to get Adobe to support software when it's being given away free, or at least I haven't been able to get anyone at Adobe to pay attention to this problem.
Cheers,

Adobe Digital edition does not respond and is EXTREMELY SLOW
The PDFs take forever to load or scroll or navigate through the pages. Highlighting certain sections hangs up the processor. How is this even a thing? Totally unacceptable & clearly the WORST
I have just been through this setting up in advance the PRS-650 which is a Christmas present for my wife.
I have borrowed 3 books on her library account which I have in ADE, and I connected the e-reader. No joy as you have discovered.
What you need to do is download and install Sony Ebook Library. Do not accept it as the default for acsm and epub files if you intend to use ADE to open those. Ebook Library will "see" your reader. You should be able to sync the sample documents in the Ebook Library to the reader if you want, which should give you some confidence that the reader actually works!
You should already have authorised your computer for ADE. I think you will have to have an Adobe account to authorise more than one device, so hopefully you've done this already. Now when you open ADE it should see the reader and ask you if you want to authorise it, which you obviously will. When you have done this you will have the reader in the libraries list on the left. Select your ADE library and library view. Now drag the books to the reader. Good luck - it worked for me.
