Digital Editions problem

I have managed to download a book from a library to my computer, but it does not show up in my Adobe Digital Editions so I can send to my NOOK.  Am I missing a step ?

This is my first time installing this software and I am getting the error message "Could not find Digital Editions folder". From reading the forums I can see that this has been a major issue for over 3 years. I have none of the issues that you list that would keep it from working correctly. Your installer says that the program was correctly installed, My "My  Documents" folder is on the C drive (the Digital Editions folder is already showing in the folder)  and I have no foreign non-ascii characters in my folder path. I have tried installing it on Windows XP, Vista, 7 and on my Powerbook and I still get the error message "Could not find Digital Editions folder". I am using the latest edition so why does this software not work? And why can't the software be downloaded and then installed? Why does it have to be installed from the web?

  • Adobe Digital Edition Problems

I have Windows 7 and checked tech specs which show my computer is compatible with ADE 4.0. I downloaded ADE 4.0 and added several Epub and ASCM files which were successful and show up in library front end. The problem occurs when I open the ebook. I open it and it shows the front cover or page 1. The problem starts here as the next/back page button is greyed out and wont work. I can use the scroll the function and it shows the number of the pages changing but the image/page never loads. The twist comes when what ever page number I leave it on when I exit then is the page it is on when I open the book back up. So what is the problem? What is the fix?

    Hello,
Please download the latest ADE 4.0.3.114137

Some of the crashes have been fixed in this release.

There's a forum just for Adobe Digital Editions. Unfortunately, this isn't it.

when i double click on a downloaded book it will not transfer to the adobe digital editions app.,why?

If you take a look at the questions and answers here, you'll see that this "chat room" very frequently provides much better answers than the official Adobe help centers, and it certainly does it much faster. But nobody will force you to "chat" here, you are free to do as you please.

  • Updated book download problem in Adobe Digital Editions

    Problem:
I have downloaded a book in Adobe Digital Edition. it downloaded successfully. But after some days vendor emailed me to re-download the same book, becuase it has some invalid content. I tried to re-download the book, but it is showing old book. On the other hand i download the same book on another computer, i got new book. is it Adobe Digital Editions problem or something else?
Any help would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks

You need to download the book, which will come as a .acsm file which is a pointer to the content rather than the content itself.
You then need to open the .acsm file with ADE; that will force download of a .epub file which contains the real data  (encrypted if it is a DRM book).
You may well then find that you have two copies of the book on your computer and showing up in ADE, both the old and the new.
You can delete the old one if you are sure you don't need it.

  • I am trying to install Adobe Digital Editions

I've been trying unsuccessfully to install Digital  Editions for 3 days and ended up with Creative Cloud, which I do not want.  Please help. [private info removed]  Thank you.

What kind of problems have you been getting that stopped the install working?
    What operating system?
One thing that might be worth trying is to install the older version.
That often helps with Digital Editions problems, but without more information impossible to know if it will help for you.

There are lots of bugs in ADE2.0 (and 2.0.1).  Try replacing ADE2.0 with the older but more reliable v1.7.2.
(You can have them both installed at once if you like.)
Version 1.7.2, it is a little difficult to find, available on Adobe site for Windows and for Mac.

Some people have found ADE trying to upgrade automatically.
It appears (not 100% sure) that if you install ADE2.0 as a new install (not as an upgrade) that your 1.7.2 will continue to run.
Probably best to say no if 2.0.x installation asks if you want to migrate your library.

  • Question - Saving as ePub in Digital Editions

I have digital editions installed to manage by ebooks.  Since I am having issues with some books being too small to read comfortably on screen in pdf format, I was going to try and purchase a couple of new books and "save" them in epub format.  It seems like they keep automatically saving in .pdf, and I can't figure out how to get them into epub format.  When I buy the books, it reports the books as supporting adobe formats or whatever, but there doesn't seem to be anything that specifies if that is pdf or epub.  How can I either specify that, or have digital editions do that conversion so that I have the reflowable read.  My device (Kobe reader) supports either.

I seem to be caught between various support organizations with something I don't understand.  When I click on the info for the book on the Penguin website, it reports that book is "eBook: Adobe reader", it doesn't specify either .pdf or .ePub.  I get the .acsm file, and dowload the book in Adobe Digital Editions, and the result is that I have a .pdf book on my PC hard drive that I can then use digital editions to connect to the device and transfer.  Penguin support seems to be stuck on it being a digital editions problem.  Here was their response, of course it was less than helpful and I sent another question into them.  I guess bottom line is if I could tell if a book was .pdf or .ePub before I bought it, or could specify the format it was retrieved in, I would continue to purchase, barring that I can't continue.  Would you have any advice on how I could phrase my question to them?
Consumers using Adobe/Acrobat Reader Version 8 or earlier may not be able to open certain eBooks and should attempt to download and install the latest version of Digital Editions, which provides the eBook capabilities integrated with previous versions of Acrobat and Reader.

  • Problem with Digital Editions page view

I used Digital Editions on two books just recently and was able to fit each page of the ebook to it's full height from top to bottom.
I just downloaded my third book to DE, and I can't seem to find the button to fit each page to their full heights (top/bottom). Instead, it's stuck on dual-page view. The single-page view button option isn't even there on the third book, but IS there on the first two books. I downloaded a fourth book and it's experiencing the same problem; stuck in dual-page view with no single-page option.
If I try to re-size the DE window to force it into a single page view, the page numbers are all messed up appearing at random spots of each page rather than at the top right where they are suppose to be.
I re-installed DE but the problem still persists. Is this a problem with the books in specific? Or something else?
    Thanks

I have an older version of Adobe Digital Editions (around 3 years old) and was very happy with it.
Then I had problems with my Kobo Reader and asked a friend who works in IT to assist. She could not fix the Kobo but she messed up my Addobe. She downloaded version three and I have an account and a password - was not able to transfer my books from my reader to version three (and I don't like the lay-out - I would prefer to stay with the old version as I also loose all my download date info..)
But all the books I have bought over the last three years are in the old Adobe Digital and I cannot access them any more. When I use it I get the message "that the document is licensed to a different account. I can't even open the books on my computer.
When I go to my Kobo library, I cannot also not open my books and get the message "this doc is protected by adobe digital rights management and is not currently authorized for use with your adobe. please sign in with your authorized adobe id and try again"
I believe the problem is that I do not seem to have a digital id for my old adobe or that the Kobo is not in sync with it anymore.
can you please help me - going on vacation in three days and cannot go without books.

Please authorize ADE 3 with same credentials that you used with older version of ADE
