Digital Fax Incoming Fax Notiifcation

I've set up the 8620 so a  Digital Fax is sent to a folder on my Mac (lion). I've clicked the yes on Incoming Fax Notification and see nothing on the screen. I'm connected to the 8620 through a lan connection and faxes are being sent to a folder. What does the Incoming Fax Notification do and do I need to do more to make it work?

Hello @JiffyFingers and Good Afternoon
From what you have described, and from the work you did on another thread, I believe you'd get better assistance talking to either Microsoft or your router manufacturer. With not being able to create the network map, that's something a bit more intricate than digital fax setup
You can have a look at this Windows cannot create the network map. Responses from other devices on the network are delayed or th... Microsoft thread as well, and you may be able to figure it out from there.
Hope that helps, have a great day!

  • Digital Fax to Folder Setup gives error message unable to establish 2-way communication with device

Digital Fax to Folder Setup gives error message unable to establish 2-way communication  with device. I can s end a Fax and I can print documents. I can also, now, scan to computer. I have changed the phone line twice, restarted the router, restarted the computer, and made sure the front panel was lit when setting up the Digital Fax folder. I am on a Homegroup network, with both wireles and ethernet computers.  When I view the network, it sees both computers (wireless laptop and enthernet desktop), the printer, scanner, and router (VerizonDrive). I recently had to reinstall Windows 7, where Digital Fax to Folder Setup previously worked, and now it doesn't.  The network shows up as Network 3. When I try to view the network map, I get the error message that Windows cannot create the network map. Responses from other devices on the network are delayed or there is an  incompatible router on the network.  What am I doing wrong?

  • Digital fax won't saveto computer folder

Just set up my new HP8610 and everything is fine EXCEPT the Digital Fax Wizard keeps giving me the message 'Destination folder is set to read only or has wrong permissions' I have tried everything I can think of and torn out what remains of my hair but all to no avail. Incidentally I had no problem with this using my (late) HP4625. HELP!!!

    10.5.x/10.6.x instructions...
System Preferences>Network, click on the little gear at the bottom next to the + & - icons, (unlock lock first if locked), choose Set Service Order.
The interface that connects to the Internet should be dragged to the top of the list. Make sure the Modem used for FAXing is not on top, can be on the bottom in fact.

  • Digital fax

I have an Officejet 4620e all-in-one printer.  I set up the digital fax to send the faxes to a designated folder in my computer and it worked flawlessly for quite some time.  Suddenly, it stopped sending the faxes to my computer.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled the printer, updated software on the cpu and printer, created a new folder, etc.  I can scan into my computer so I don't think it is a communication issue.  Please help.

    Hello TAMATHA,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I see you are having issues getting your faxes to send into the computer. Have you recently changed the connection between the Officejet 4620 and computer?
While researching the issue I noticed that this printer only is able to send the faxes into the computer if it is connected via USB, unlike the Officejet 8600 which can do it over a network.
On page 55 of the User Guide for the 4620 the setup instructions start, try looking through those steps to re-setup the printer.

Have run fax test, all pass.
Please advice what shall I do. thanks.
    HP officejet 6500A plus E710n

This is probably due to a connection error.
I fixed this by navigating this route:

    Hope this solved your problem!

  • Digital fax saving, printing

    11/21/12
I have my HP Officejet Pro 8500 All-In-One Wireless configured to save faxes as digital files to folder on my Dell Server.  However, when I try to view them, with the WIndows XP viewer, the faxes seem incomplete.  When printed, they are illegible.  Is there a way to change the format in which faxes are saved to server, to solve this problem?
    Tom Rosenfeld, MD

I'm sorry, but there is no way to change the file format they save in. When you say the faxes seem "incomplete," do you mean the full fax isn't there, or is there some other distortion that's happening? Does anything else print distorted from the XP computer?

  • Remove digits from incoming DID number

How translation rule can i use to remove 6 digits of DID number received from ITSP and pass on 4 digits to the PABX (integrated with ISDN pri ) on cisco voice gateway.
The incoming dial peer is voip dial peer because call is coming from ITSP using SIP.
For eg DID number range is 0419137101 - 0419137599

If I follow, I believe you could use something like this:
    voice translation-rule 1
      rule 1 /.+\(....\)/ /\1/
    voice translation-profile strip6
     translate called 1
dial-peer voice 1 voip ! Inbound SIP dialpeer
      translation-profile incoming strip6

  • Need help Creating a translation pattern that adds dial out digits to incoming calls

I came across an article yesterday and it showed the steps how to fix Missed Call/Received Call numbers so that you can dial them from the menu correctly (auto-add a 9, etc.)?
I tried it this morning and came up with this translation pattern:
    voice translation-rule 6
    rule 1 /^201\(.*\)/ /8\1/
    rule 2 /\(..........\)/ /81\1/
    voice translation-profile filter_Incoming
    translate calling 6
This translation pattern rule 1 adds the dial out character 8 and strips 201 for local calls. Rule 2 adds dial out character 8 and adds 1 for long distance.  The purpose of this translation rule is when the ephone receives the phone call the characters 8 and 1 are added so when you quickly need to redial you do not have to edit the number and add 8 for each call.
    I tested the translation-rule:
    ROUTER-2911#test voice translation-rule 6 9082121231
    Matched with rule 2
Original number: 9082121231     Translated number: 819082121231

Issue is I am not sure with my inbound call leg if it can even work. We dial out through the SIP Trunk and the incoming is translated to the AutoAttendant on Cisco Unity Express.
    voice translation-rule 1
    rule 1 /2015552100/ /2003/

     voice-class codec 1
     voice-class sip dtmf-relay force rtp-nte
     dtmf-relay rtp-nte
     no vad
Can what I am trying to do be done with my current setup?

    Hi patldmart012,
The dial-peer 9 that you have attached will not be affected by following config
    voice translation-rule 6
    rule 1 /^201\(.*\)/ /8\1/
    rule 2 /\(..........\)/ /81\1/
    voice translation-profile filter_Incoming
    translate calling 6
Because you have not applied the translation profile "filter_incoming" on the dial-peer.
Could you please provide the exact call flow?
Along with that, If you are facing issue with calls on SIP Trunk, please collect following debugs in a logging buffer and attach the file. I will analyse it and will get back to you.
    debug voip ccapi inout
    debug ccsip message
    debug voice translation
    Debug h225 asn1 (If H323 involved)
    Debug h245 asn1 (If H323 involved)
Debug MGCP Packets (If MGCP involved)
Also provide the running config of the GW.
These are verbose debugs, so please collect them in the following manner:
    Router(config)# service sequence
Router(config)# service timestamps debug datetime msec
    Router(config)# logging buffered 30000000 7
    Router(config)# no logging con
    Router(config)# no logging mon
    Router# Clear log
    Router# term no mon
<Enable debugs, then wait for issue to occur.>
    Router# term len 0
<Enable session capture to txt file in terminal program.>
    Router# Undebug all
    Router# sh log
Once i have the logs, i will analyse it and will get back to you.

  • Does not send incoming faxes to emails

I have the HP Officejet 8600 Plus
First let me say, I am able to scan something to an email and it works fine.  BUT if I am not in the office and a fax comes I need it to send as pdf to my email and it will not do it.
I set it up correctly, I have all the SMTP settings correct from Time Warner in Austin, TX  SMTP settings are   mail.twc.com    with port 587    After I enter all information and go to save and test, I get a big red X that says it did not setup correctly but does not say what is wrong.    I am familiar with doing this setup, because I also did my Brother MFC-8710dw at home correctly and it works fine.  Same Timewarner settings and all.   Can someone please tell me why it does not allow me to save and test the settings

    Hello reddcannon,
Welcome to the HP Support forums.  I understand that you would like to confirm that you’ve set up the digital fax feature of your Officejet 8600 Plus printer.
I’ve included the Setting Up HP Digital Fax to Save Received Faxes to your Computer document.   You can use it as a checklist to ensure that nothing was missed during the setup as it sounds like something was accidentally missed.

  • HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M177fw fax to pc

I have just bought this printer and want to msend faxes to my pc.  I was told by PC world that it had this function.  So far I cant find it can anyone help.  Many thanks

Hi ,  I would be happy to help shed some light on the issue your are having with trying to setup this Color LaserJet Pro MFP M177fw to receive your faxes on your PC.  I have looked into this further for you, and I'm pretty sure this model doesn't support receiving faxes on your PC. You can double check to make sure I haven't missed it in the  COLOR LASERJET PRO MFP M177 User Guide.
I did however locate a different model, where in the manual does provide instructions on how to set this feature up but it is a black only printer. Its the LaserJet Pro MFP M225dw (again black only, no colour.)
Step 5 (Optional): Configure settings for receiving digital faxes (Windows) The product can save incoming digital faxes to a computer folder. Use the HP Digital Fax Setup Wizard to configure the settings. This feature is available only for Windows. 1. Click Start, and then click Programs. 2. Click HP, click the name of the product, and then click Digital Fax Setup Wizard. 3. Follow the on-screen instructions to configure the settings.  HP also has this feature available on it's HP Officejet Pro 8610/8620/8630 e-All-in-One Printers, which are Colour Inkjets. Some of the commerical products also support this feature but I'm unsure of which ones. I would really suggest contacting HP Shopping for more information on these models.  Hopefully this has answered your questions, and please let me know if there is anything else I can do to help.   Thanks,

  • OfficeJet Pro 8600 Plus e All in One fax to e-mail help

I purchased this unit yesterday for my office and I would like to have incoming faxes get sent to my computer as an e-mail.  I have gone through the digital fax setup process but I am not receiving e-mails notifying me of a fax.  Here are some specifics:
HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 Plus e All-in-one printer
Dell Inspiron 570 with Windows 7 64 bit OS
System is on a network but not through a server. Does anyone know how to set up the OfficeJet so it will send me e-mail notification when a fax is received?  Any help is appreciated.

    Hi,
You may set Fax to Email feature from the printer EWS page:
On the product control panel, touch the Right Arrow ( ), and then touch Setup . The setup menu displays.
Touch the Down Arrow ( ), and then touch Reports .
Touch Network Configuration Page . The product prints a network configuration page.
Locate the printer IP Address / URL to access the EWS:
Type the printer IP Address on you browser to access the EWS page
    Click the Fax tab
Click Fax to E-mail / Network Folder under the left column
Click Start Wizard and follow the steps to enable the feature.
Select Forward the Faxes to an e-mail address and proceed.
Follow the steps and provide your email account SMTP settings, similar to those used for Outlook
NOTE: You may contact your ISP to obtain the settings of your email server.
Click Save and Test to verify any of the settings is correct.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600 N911a - Print when Fax is Not Saved

Can I make it so a fax is printed when it's not saved? I know I can set it to print and save every time, but I rely on HP Digital Fax to save paper. If a fax is not saved, either due to a network error or if the computer that it usually saves to is shut off, can the fax just be printed?

, it's nice to meet you. I think I found something that may help with your faxing dilemma. This information was in the User Guide for the Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One Printer - N911a; pg 69. Set up backup fax Depending on your preference and security requirements, you can set up the printer to store all the faxes it receives, only the faxes it receives while the printer is in an error condition, or none of the faxes it receives. The following backup fax modes are available:On > The default setting. When Backup fax is On, the printer stores all received faxes in memory. This enables you to reprint up to eight of the most recently printed faxes if they are still saved in memory. NOTE: When printer memory is low, it overwrites the oldest, printed faxes as it receives new faxes. If the memory becomes full of unprinted faxes, the printer stops answering incoming fax calls. NOTE: If you receive a fax that is too large, such as a very detailed color photo, it might not be stored in memory due to memory limitations.
On Error Only > Causes the printer to store faxes in memory only if an error condition exists that prevents the printer from printing the faxes (for example, if the printer runs out of paper). The printer continues to store incoming faxes as long as there is memory available. (If the memory becomes full, the printer stops answering incoming fax calls.) When the error condition is resolved, the faxes stored in memory print automatically, and then they are deleted from memory.
Off > Faxes are never stored in memory. For example, you might want to turn off Backup fax for security purposes. If an error condition occurs that prevents the printer from printing (for example, the printer runs out of paper), the printer stops answering incoming fax calls. NOTE: If backup fax is enabled and you turn the printer off, all faxes stored in memory are deleted, including any unprinted faxes that you might have received while the printer was in an error condition. You must contact the senders to ask them to resend any unprinted faxes. For a list of the faxes you have received, print the Fax Log. The Fax Log is not deleted when the printer is turned off. To set backup fax from the printer control panel 1. Touch (right arrow), and then select Setup.2. Touch Fax Setup, and then select Advanced Fax Setup.3. Touch Backup Fax Reception.4. Touch On, On Error Only, or Off. Reprint received faxes from memoryIf you set the Backup fax mode to On, the received faxes are stored in memory, whether the printer has an error condition or not. NOTE: After the memory becomes full, the oldest, printed faxes are overwritten as new faxes are received. If all the stored faxes are unprinted, the printer does not receive any fax calls until you print or delete the faxes from memory. You might also want to delete the faxes in memory for security or privacy purposes. Depending on the sizes of the faxes in memory, you can reprint up to eight of the most recently printed faxes, if they are still in memory. For example, you might need to reprint your faxes if you lost the copy of your last printout. To reprint faxes in memory from the printer control panel 1. Make sure you have paper loaded in the main tray.2. Touch (right arrow), and then select Setup.3. Touch Tools or Fax Tools, and then select Reprint Faxes in Memory. The faxes are printed in the reverse order from which they were received with the most recently received fax printed first, and so on.4. If you want to stop reprinting the faxes in memory, touch the Cancel button.  Please let me know if these steps resolved your issue, or if there is anything else I can do to help.  I look forward to hearing from you!  Thanks,
