DIGITAL IMAGES IN PREMIER ELEMENTS

Is there a limit on the number of still images that can be incorporated into a video?

Hi all
Thanks for the replies.  All very helpful but the more I learn about PrEl the more I come to realise how complex a programme it is and as a so called "silver surfer" my old brain doesn't assimilate information as quickly as it used to.
As regards my original query, I have, at a guess, something like 50-60 still images currently in my project with possibly around another 20-30 to still be added so compared to some of your projects it isn't that many.  Anyway I will dutifully resize them to720 x 480 or 1000 x 750 (which would be best). The images I am using are either 3216 x 2136, 4288 x 2848 or 3072 2304) so I guess PrEl was having difficulty in "digesting" these large files.
A secondary question.  When I resize using PhotoshopElements 10 is there a way to resize en bloc or can they only be rezized one at a time?  Further advice would be appreciated.
Roy
PS to Steve.  Ordered a copy of your book from Amazon USA as it's not available here in UK.

That's going to be a ridiculous waste of money and energy.
First of all, the current ATI drivers don't support multiple GPUs, so at the moment even a single 4870X2 would be only a 'normal' 4870 (which is quite a speed beast already). GFX drivers evolve rapidly, so things might look different next month, but when it comes to Linux and hardware there's one Golden Rule: stay away from the newest stuff and wait for proper support to get coded.
I also wonder what power supply could possibly cope with the differences between idle and full load; that's way beyond 400W. But then, I'm one of those "quiet&green" types where >100W idle is already a bit much.
I kind of understand that you want to get it done and not worry about hardware for the next 10 years or so, but that's simply not how the hardware world works and never did. At least not for the average consumer.

  • How to import a jpeg image into premier elements 12?

how do  i import a jpeg image into premier elements 12?

Just for background information, what computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 12 running on?
The generalized answer is Add Media/Files and Folders/Projects Assets from where you drag the photo to the Expert view Timeline.
But all that can generate a mountain of questions about the photo and the project into which it will be going
    a. what are the pixel dimensions of the photo - will or will I not have to resize or crop/resize the photo for the project
    b. is the photo going into a project that will consist of photos and videos
    c. if video inclusion, that leads to questions about the properties of the video so that you can set the project preset to match those
    d. that leads to questions on the best size to have your photo before you import them into this project.
So, one simple question generates a lot of side questions.
Please let us know how we might help to sort out the details for your Premiere Elements workflow and its source media.
    Thank you.

  • Exporting still images: Premier elements

    hello all,
When exporting frame stills from premier elements they seem to be 'squeezed' when viewed on any other media source or importing back into the program,
any ideas on how to export without this squeezed ratio?

My first guess would be that the Clips on the Timeline are using non-square pixels, i.e. PAR = something like 0.9 for NTSC Standard, and you are viewing in a program that does not accept PAR other than square pixels, i.e. PAR = 1.0.
Now, some programs, such as Photoshop (CS or later) and maybe PSElements (?) can adjust the PAR of an image.
For more detail on PAR in Video (and in Stills from that Video), see this ARTICLE.
    Good luck,

Are you importing the slideshow as a wmv file rather than using the Edit with Premiere Elements Editor Output option in the Photoshop Elements Slideshow Editor?
Lots of information needed but I may have the answer in spite of all the questions.
What version of Premiere Elements are you using and on what computer operating system is it running?
Is your slideshow coming from Photoshop Elements Slideshow Editor? If so, how are you outputting it
    a. Save to File Movie (wmv)
    b. Burn to Disc
    c. Edit with Premiere Elements Editor
There has been an epidemic of 1/2 wmv displays associated with a recent Windows Update kb. This may be at the core of your issue. Please see the Announcement at the top of this forum. For your convenience, it should look like:
Announcement: Windows Update Causes Display to Be Blacked Out
    Hide Details
MicroSoft has issued an Update for Windows, that is causing problems with Displays. The following is from Talbot McInnis, who tracked down this problem, and offers a fix:
"MS bulliten MS13-057.  Specifically, on XP kb2834904 and on windows 7 kb2803821 is causing a problem
For us, it occurs when decoding WMV9 files.  Not all uses of WMV decoding are affected, but I confirmed that when connecting the WMV decode DLL to a sample grabber for RGB32 video, the frames arrive black on top, so that points directly to decoding internals of the WMV Decode dll.
You can uninstall these windows updates to resolve your problem."
There are several threads on the problem that this Update is causing on the PrE and PrPro Forums, so one can get more details. So far, there is not another fix from either MS, or Adobe.
Also, see this Adobe KB Article: http://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/kb/wmv-files-corrupted-import-or.h tml
by Bill Hunt (Jul 12, 2013)
Please check out the Announcement details and delete the appropriate Windows Update kb if this applies to you.
There have been many, many threads on the topic, all with helpful advice which includes
    a. for now, have the Windows Updates require your notification and approval for any downloading and installing of Windows Updates
    and
    b. if you catch the offending Windows Update kb in the Windows Updates Important Updates, right click it and select Hide. That is supposed to keep it away.
Please view and then let us know the outcome.
    Thanks.

  • How do I do still digital photos on Adobe premier elements 10?

How do I edit and organize still photos on adobe premier elements 10?

You don't edit with Premiere Elements, it is for video processing. Post your question to the Photoshop Elements forum and they will help you out.
You can access the Elements Organizer 10 from both Premiere and Photoshop Elements. To get your media into the EO10 use the File menu to access the options. You can also have EO10 monitor particular folders for new media, or you can just drag your media from the Windows Explorer into EO.

  • ACR 8.3 & Premier Elements 12

I just installed Premier Elements 12 and yesterday and up popped the update for ACR8.3. Never knew Premier Elements used ACR
The payload for ACR 8.3 for Elements was about 50 MB smaller than the payload for ACR8.3 for Photoshop - so they may not be the same? But for the dickens of me I cannot figure out how ACR is used by Premier Elements other than being able to import a RAW file - There is no adjustment panel for correcting white balance, exposure etc etc. So is it just used to import RAW files?
Anyone have any ideas as to how ACR is used in Premier Elements?
    Cheers

I recently had some 8mm film transferred to DVD. I am trying to edit the film clips using Premier Elements 4.0. so I can reburn the films on a single BluRay disc. Some of the film clips copy into the project but others don't. I tried copying the VOB filed onto my hard drive and then changing the file extensions on the VOB files to MPEG but this was no help. Some of the VOB files contain numerous film clips but my software does not appear to be able to recognize them as such. I need to know if replacing my old Premier Elements with the new Version 13 would solve this problem or not. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

    What do you have now.....
What computer operating system do you have?
We can go into the finer points of source and your intentions, but for now it would appear that you are using SD 4:3 source media to get to a HD 16:9 result. Lots to discuss in this regard.
What was given to you on the DVD disc? DVD-VIDEO 4:3 or something else?
If DVD-VIDEO on DVD disc, you should expect to find on the disc a folder named VIDEO_TS. That is your target for your video files.
If you were given a DVD-VIDEO on DVD disc, then all you want from it are the video files, specifically
VTS_01_1.VOB, VTS_01_2.VOB, and so on through that series until possibly getting to
VTS_02_1.VOB, and so on. How many files you have beyond the VTS_01_1.VOB file will depend on the size of the DVD-VIDEO.
Does the above scenario apply to you?
The alternative might be someone giving a DVD disc (data disc) which contains just the VTS files mentioned which were copied from
the VIDEO_TS Folder. So, you do not get the whole VIDEO_TS Folder, just the essential video files. Does this scenario apply to you.
I see no need to replace your Premiere Elements 4 with a later version unless you have a huge project and need a later version that will be a 64 bit application running specifically on Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit computer.
Consider...Premiere Elements 4 and if you have DVD-VIDEO on DVD....
    1. Place the DVD disc in the burner tray
    2. Open Premiere Elements 4 and set the project preset for NTSC DV Standard (assuming you are working in a NTSC setup)
    3. Go to
    Get Media
"DVD, Digital Camera, Mobile Phone, Hard Drive Camcorder, Card Reader"
"Adobe Premiere Elements - Media Downloader" and its Advanced dialog.
Set the Source in the latter dialog for the drive which has your DVD disc inserted in its tray
You should see your VTS_01_1.VOB thumbnail in the "Adobe Premiere Elements - Media Downloader" Advanced dialog.
With this VOB selected, click on Get Media to get the file from there into the project.
    Should work fine.
Complications may be involved if the people who processed your footage gave you something other what is described above.
Please review and consider, and then we can plan our project strategy accordingly.
    Thank you.

  • Sorry, a serious error has occurred that requires Adobe Premier Elements to shut down.

I have Adobe Premier Elements 7. When I launch the application then try to begin using it an error is presented which advises Sorry, a serious error has occurred that requires Adobe Premier Elements to shut down. We will attempt to save your current project.  When I click OK the program shuts down. I have tried fixes I have found on the Forum. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled the program.

From the Premiere Elements Information FAQ http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1042180
•You MUST use an account with Administrator Privileges to run Premiere Elements
•(Doing Run as Administrator http://forums.adobe.com/thread/969395 [says Encore and also for "All" versions of Premiere] will sometimes fix "odd" errors)
•What version of Premiere Elements? Include the minor version number (e.g., Premiere Elements 12 with the 12.0.1 update).
•What operating system? This should include specific minor version numbers, like "Mac OSX v10.9.4"---not just "Mac"
•Has this ever worked before?  If so, do you recall any changes you made to Premiere Elements, such as adding Plug-ins, brushes, etc.?  Did you make any changes to your system, such as updating hardware, printers or drivers; or installing/uninstalling any programs?
•Have you installed any recent program or OS updates? (If not, you should. They fix a lot of problems.)
•What kind(s) of image file(s)? When talking about camera raw files, include the model of camera.
•If you are getting error message(s), what is the full text of the error message(s)?
•What were you doing when the problem occurred?
•What other software are you running?
•Tell us about your computer hardware. How much RAM is installed?  How much free space is on your system (C:) drive?
•How many and what speed are your hard drive(s)... ie 5400rpm or 7200rpm or?
    And some other questions...
•What are you editing, and does your video have a red line over it BEFORE you do any work?
•Which version of Quicktime do you have installed?
•What is your exact brand/model graphics adapter (ATI or nVidia or ???)
•What is your exact graphics adapter driver version?
•Have you gone to the vendor web site to check for a newer driver?

  • Is Premier Elements 12 working on Mac OS 10.9.2?

I am a professional editor.  My job provides me with a AVID MEDIA COMPOSER.  At home I have a 2008 imac in which I used FCP 6.  Since I upgraded to Maverick, the program is not opening.  The problem, I need to edit a project ASAP.  I am contemplating the Premier Elements as a last minute solution, since the Pro version requires 8GB and mine has only 4.
My concern is the fact that I have found people complaining about compatibility problems.  I have OSX version 10.9.2
Is Premier Elements 12 work on Mavericks?
I used 2 cameras.  I will need to match both.  Am I be able to add layers of videos and audios?  Is this program will allow me to isolate the audio of one of the cameras?
I ask these questions because I tried to use Imovie and it was a total frustration.  I was hoping premier elements would have a interface similar to the pro version, and would allow me to do precise trims, not approximates like Imovie.
Any professional editor out there who could have a word on Elements, the editing and compatibility with Mavericks?

In both the HD/Library/Application Support and the User/Home/Library/Application Support folders there's an Adobe folder that will have some Bridge support files in it.
Using Photoshop or Photoshop Elements as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop or Photoshop Elememts as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop.  When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window
that indicates that  PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file.  You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
With Photoshop Elements  the Saving File preferences should be configured as shown:
I also suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always.  In PSE’s General preference pane set the Color Picker to Apple as shown:
    Screenshots are from PSE 10
Note 1:  to switch between iPhoto and PS or PSE as the editor of choice Control (right)-click on the thumbnail and select either Edit in iPhoto or Edit in External Editor from the contextual menu. If you use iPhoto to edit more than PSE re-select iPhoto in the iPhoto General preference pane. Then iPhoto will be the default editor and you can use the contextual menu to select PSE for your editor when desired.
Note 2:  editing a RAW file with either PSE or PS creates a new file which must be saved outside of iPhoto, i.e. the Desktop, and imported as a new photo into the iPhoto Library.

  • Install Adobe Premier Elements 9 results in Windows Installer window pop up

Installed Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 fine.  When installing Adobe Premier Elements 9, the installation fails during 'Configuring Windows Installer' and a pop up window appears with the title 'Windows Installer'.  What do I need to do to get this software installed?

You need at least 30GB (or better, 60GB) free defragmented space for PRE9 to work. Do you have this? You may have been on the borderline during install and your first project, so when you rendered your project, or restarted the machine, (possibly Windows creating a system restore point) your free space dropped below the limit.
Can you also confirm that you didn't install any new software between the saving and opening of your project.
Here are some general points you should work through to maximise your chances of success
    Install all Windows Updates.
Install latest version of Apple QuickTime (v7.6.8 at time of writing). Even if you don't use QuickTime, PRE relies heavily on it.
Install most recent graphics and sound drivers from the manufacturers web sites.
    Run Disk Cleanup.
    Run Defragmenter.
Temporarily disable any anti-virus realtime scanning.
And give us some information about your clip and hardware:
Use the GSpot Codec Information Utility to analyse the file and post screen image.
What project preset did you use?
Where did the clip come from?
How did you get it into PRE?
Post back here with the necessary information described here: Got a Problem? How to Get Started

  • Using Adobe Premier Elements to create a video using the photos and it is make the photos blurry. Is there a setting to correct this?

as the subject states, i am suing Premier Elements pro to create a video using photos. The photos are clear then when you play the video they become blurry. I would guess there would be a way to correct this but not having much success. any helps would be great.

Thanks for the follow up. Right now I see details that do need addressing. For one, you are importing 3:2 photos into a project set for 16:9.
You still have not told us what version of Premiere Elements that you are using and on what computer operating system it is running. For now I will assume, Premiere Elements 13/13.1 on Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit. NTSC setup.
Please try the following as a mini test run (just a few of your photos) to determine if the Timeline photos present better in the Edit area and in an export.
    1. Open Premiere Elements 13/13.1 to the Expert workspace and go to File Menu/New/Project and Change Settings.
    2. In Change Settings, change the settings to
    NTSC
    DSLR
    1080p
    DSLR [email protected]
    OK out of there.
    3. In the New Project Dialog that now opens, rename the project and make sure that you have a check mark next to Force Selected Project Setting on This Project. OK out of there.
    4. Back in the Export workspace, import your photos using Premiere Elements' Add Media/Files and Folders/Projects Assets from where you drag the photos to the Timeline. There will be an orange line over the Timeline content. Press the Enter key of the computer main keyboard. or the Render button above the Timeline to do Timeline rendering which will result in the best possible preview in the Edit area monitor.
Also, right click the Edit area monitor, select Playback Quality, and then determine if the "Highest" gives better results than "Automatic".
If all looks good, then let us look at the quality of a AVCHD.mp4 export of that Timeline....
    Publish+Share
    Computer
    AVCHD
    with Presets = MP4 - H.264 1920 x 1080p30.
Is the quality of the photos in this mini test run better, the same, or worse?
About your photos (3872 x 2592 3:2)...video is 4:3 or 16:9. So to avoid black borders, you could consider
    a. cropping the originals from 3:2 to 16:9 before import
    or
    b. importing them as is and doing any needed scaling in the Edit area monitor
But, right now the focus is on image clarity rather than black borders.
    Please review and consider.
    Thank you.
