Digital Integrator
To whom it may concern,
I need to design two digital integrators to solve a 2nd order differential equation. It needs to take both AC/DC. I've been told that if my input is DC, that my output should be a ramp. If my input is a sine wave the output should be a cosine wave (shifted wave form). The IC's to be used are the following: ADC, DAC, adder, u/d counter, comparator, register. Not all of these IC's are necessary to make this work. e.g. One can use just adders and a ADC/DAC to get it to work.
I'm not very familiar with Digital design, and would appreciate any help or direction in this area. I've been "playing around" with multisim a bit with no avail.
My goal is to design the circuit with multisim, replicate it onto a breadboard, then a PCB.

Hi all,
I have an application where I have a repetitive 30 kHz waveform (WF). This waveform is comprised of 10 individual pulses. What I'm interested in measuring is the area/integral/riemann sum/energy or whatever you want to call it of each pulse in the 30 kHz WF. One method would be to oversample and then compute this in software. A sample rate of 20 MS/s and above should get the job done. Obviously, the faster the sample rate the better the integral will be. However, I have 7 separate channels of similar WFs so the 5105 board with 8 simul sampled channels would be one choice. The downside of this method is record length. At the max rate of this board and with 7 active channels I think a total record length of ~0.6 sec is possible. In reality, what I really need is a sample rate of 300 kS/s (one sample for each of the 10 pulses of the 30 kHz WF) and then the record length will reach my requirements. The 5922 is one step closer by oversampling and then filtering and decimating. I haven't entirely ruled this approach out but instead of filtering and decimating it would great if I could get decimation through summing. Is there anything out there that does this? I don't think the 5922 will work since the bandwidth of the filter varies with sample rate. In essence, what I need is a digital summation in hardware so that I can either take longer record lengths with onboard memory or allow the capability of streaming to disk/ram without bus bottlenecks. Any thoughts, inputs, suggestions would be helpful. Also, I don't necessary need all 7 channels on one board (hence the mentioning of the 5922) but all will need to be strictly synchronized.

Let me see if I can address what I think are your two main questions:
1. How can I integrate the pulses acquired by the digitizer?
The easiest way to do this would be in post processing. We currently do not have a digitizer which will do what you want on the hardware itself. What we can do however is take measurements on the data after it is fetched from the onboard memory. You could either use the scalar or array measurements built into the NI-Scope API, or implement you own custom code that calculates what you need. You are correct that the record length on the 5105 with maximum memory and maximum sample rate would be roughly 0.6 seconds.
2. Can I have a HW based summation of my signals?
Summation of the signals would have to be on post processing. We have an array measurement built into the API which sums multiple channels however, as before, this measurement is done post fetch of the data from the device. Also in regards to the 5922, the resolution changes over the frequency range, not just the bandwidth.
Overall, it seems like you are on the right track in terms of ideas; oversampling or filtering and decimation. It is important to note which aspects will be available in hardware or software. I have a few additional questions for you to help me get the best information to you.
What is the record length that you want?
You mentioned continuous acquisition and streaming, is this a streaming application?
Is there an explicit need to do the processing in HW? (i.e. is your application time critical?)
With more detail about your application and what you want to do exactly I can better point you to the useful resources.

High Frequency Measurements -
Skype was working just fine previously when making a video call (could hear the other person well - no problems.) Then I stopped using the monitor stereo speakers and installed desktop speakers.
Wasn't happy with them and uninstalled them about a day or two later. When I tried to make a video call again (after choosing monitor speakers again under the pc control panel - sounds and audio devices, also tried to choose monitor stereo speakers in Skype but didn't see this option) - there was no sound - even on the Skype test.
So I tried "check settings" and saw under speaker - "can't detect your sound card". Under adjust speaker settings there's no speaker suggestions at all - it just says none.
I also cancelled the speaker setting on SoundMAX digital integrated audio under the control panel.
I have rebooted the system but still the same problem!I'v sorted out the problem. Sorry for the inconvenience!

Please, please bring out a Zen Vision:M with integrated digital camera!
Is there some chance to contact the development division of creative and ask for a Zen Vision:M with integrated digital camera? there are mobiles out there with 0 Megapixel cameras and they don?t have a 30 GB disk space.
There would be nothing better then have this nice Vision:M mp3 player with an integrated camera..
one additional use for Vision:M besides using for listining to mp3 is to keep and carry around photos with it anyways.. so why don?t they bring it our with camera? wouldn?t need to take photos with another devise, transfer these photos to the pc/mac and then transfer them back on Vision:M.... just carrying aroung one devise would be so much better... but I guess that is also some marketing stuff... first sell this generation of Vision:M, and then wait some time and come out with the new generation of players, with finally integrated camera... or maybe just wait, until ipod brings them out first... anyways, I really don?t see a technical problem for this...
Olympus m:robe 500 put a mp3 camera on the market a couple of years ago, though it can't really compete with Vision:M on the mp3 player part.
any comments from anyone?I actually disagree, reason being that when you take into account the cameras that are build into the phones they are at most adequate, 2MP is the current theme (at least in UK I think). The option/settings/tweeks with the phone cameras is poor when you look at it, stand alone digital cams offer better features compared with phone digicams, then you have the power too, to dri've a good camera if you have one then you know required decent batteries, storage (ok you have a hard dri've so that is sorted) but take into consideration that you will always get better results with a digicam than phone cameras and you can see that would be a waste of time for the time being.
There is an old saying "Jack of all trades, Master of none" and this seemes to hold true to the phone cameras. Don't get me wrong it would be nice to have it only and only if you have all the features of the stand alone one with big resolution and so on, heck I have a Nokia 6230 and like it very much but my old 3.2MP Cannon (by all means not the best and not the newest?in the world) gives me far better/superior results than the the one on the phone even can. What would be cool to have is a port where you can hook them both up and use the Mp3 players HDD to store (I know you can on some Creative players) your snaps without having to buy or have attachments, just plug a mini USB and you are off. Technology as always moves forward and an astonishing reate and new gadgets?come out?and quality improves, battery life lengthens and so on, so we might even see this happen. Adobe PDF/Acroforms & Digital signatures/Integrity/Authentication/Non repudiation
Hi folks,
I have been investigation the feasibility of using PDF as a customer-facing data collection mechanism, starting with Acroforms for a pilot, initially at least (we may consider XFA/Livecycle in a later phase).
I've got a demo application up and running using the FDF toolkit, presenting PDF forms to the web user, collecting and processing/storing the collected data etc.
My question is around how this process can be secured.
(Q1) (This may be strictly a web dev question, please ignore if considered not relevant here) : If the web application communicates over HTTPS, then the conversation between client & server is secure (encrypted at least, so that others cant sniff the content?) - but it does not necessarily authenticate the end user to the server?
(Q2) If we wish to ensure that the FDF data Submitted from the PDF form (via submit button to an ASP.NET url) is (a) known to be authentic from a particular known user, and (b) signed in some way to be non-repudiatable ... how can be do this with FDF ? If we re-generate a flat PDF document from the data they entered, is there any digital signature mechanism that can be employed for the public end-user to "sign" the PDF document in a manner that ensure Integrity/Authentication/Non repudiation ?
any pointers to Adobe or Third party toolkits, products etc. ?

Aidan.Q1. That's right. But if the form includes fields for a username/password, this could be sent along with the rest of the data and used to authenticate the user. Or you could use other common means, but as you said, this has nothing to do with Acrobat.
Q2. FDF can contain digital signature data. So the form would have to contain a signature field and the user would have to sign it. Assuming a self-signed signature, it's up to you whether to trust such a signature. The signed PDF is constructed from the original PDF that was served by concatenating the appended saves contained in the FDF. You can then validate the signature.

Solaris 10 x86 5/08 audio driver for SoundMax Integrated Digital Audio
Hello out there, I recently installed Solaris 10 x86 5/08 on my IBM ThinkPad T60 (2007-63U) and I'm really impressed how well it is working.
The only thing I've found not working so far is the audio.
I've installed the Solaris Audio Drivers 1.0 from:

...but it still is not recognizing the audio device.
Everything else is working great (thank you Sun and the OpenSolaris Community!!!!!!!), so getting the audio working would be even better.
Any pointers anyone has on what to look for on the system (e.g. in /var/adm/messages) or how to configure the audio to support the SoundMax Integrated Digital Audio would be greatly appreciated....well, I've tried building oss-v4.0-build1016-src-cddl but I haven't been able to get it to work.
In preparation for the build, I did install Sun Studio 12 (from http://developers.sun.com/sunstudio/index.jsp ), patched it, and installed gawk-3.1.6 ( from http://www.sunfreeware.com/indexintel10.html ) and ran configure/make install as instructed which successfully completed.
The following is what I get when executing ossdetect:

Stevemaybe your spdif default properties, in the supported format tab, options there are configured too high for your revceiver???
is there an error code on your receiver? if there is an error code check the troubleshooting section in the manual your receiver came with.
you could also try in windows media center, go to the tasks->settings and click windows media center setup->setup your speakers for 5.1 and hit the test button..

Digital barometer to be integrated with Labview programme
Hi,
Does anyone have any recommendations for a digital barometer that could be integrated into an existing NI data acquisition system and Labview 8. Ideally I'm looking for a barometer that can connect to the acquisition hardware we have currently and provide a real-time readout of the ambient pressure within the Labview VI we have currently (obviously some modification to this would be required). I've had a look around the NI website and can't find anything suitable, and Google turns up far too many results.

Can I ask what acquistion hardware you have first of all? A barometer measures the static DC pressure and a recommendation I have is to use a compactDAQ or compactRIO board using a C Series Module; preferably a NI 9237 or NI 9219. Both the NI 9237 and NI 9219 modules can power strain gages or pressure transducers.

Integrated digital TV on Qosmio G20-156
My husband has a Qosmio G20-156.
Can anyone tell me if there is digital TV reception available on this model. I am hoping to get him a DVB-T USB for fathers day, however on looking at the product specification it states that it has digital capability integrated.
I am certain however if his machine did then we would already be hooked up !

According to the Qosmio specification site the unit was delivered with DVB+T Analog Hybrid TV Tuner and DVB-T Antenna.
I dont know where do you live but the fact is that you cannot receive the digital signals everywhere. The signal must be strong enough to receive the digital channels. -
Integrating Digital Signatures into J2EE Web App
I have a requirement to add digital signature functionality to a J2EE web application. Our customers would like to press a �sign� button on a web page, be prompted to connect their hardware security token (e.g. USB device or smart card), and the signatures stored inside our system for later verification (e.g. in court).
The main issue I can see is that when using hardware-based tokens the private key can never leave the device, so the device itself does the signing. Whereas our J2EE Web Application has all the code on the app server tier, and the data is located on the database (and in our architecture cannot be exported to client PCs for security reasons).
Does anyone know of any solutions to this kind of requirement? Any vendor toolkits that allow this? From what I�ve read from researching this subject the pieces are all there but most web-based security solutions only implement application login authentication of one sort or another.Hi Tony,
As of DIAdem 2012 there is no product feature that makes it easier to create a web front end to DIAdem. You can host DIAdem with a terminal services approach such as Citrix, which will give you all of DIAdem's functionality in a web GUI. You can also host DIAdem on a cloud server if that's where your data is.
On final option is that LabVIEW offers a user programmable web server which can make calls to DIAdem via ActiveX.

there's a function SetOutputPath(path) where you can specify the path where the driver of the camera saves the pictures. for more information see the SDK docs. after the pictures have been saved to disk you can read the files with the LV-VIs from the "Graphics & Sound" palette. there are some examples shipped with LV of how to read image files.

WebEx-CUCM Integration - Best way to prefix digits?
In CUCM, I need to implement a solution where the digit 9 is automatically prefixed on all calls from WebEx to NADP (1+10digits) numbers, but do NOT prefix digits for 3-digit internal extensions. When manually dialing a 9, outbound calls work great, but is not acceptable as a deliverable solution for the WebEx "call me" feature.
What is the best way to do this? With Jabber, I simply used an application dial rule, but with WebEx, its essentially a SIP trunk, so that feature is not available.
CUCM 9.1, WebEx 1.1.1.9The encoded values are coming from a database, but the displayable text was hard coded in some old Swing code. There is no look up table in the database for those values.
There is no need for multi language support.
I was going to be clever and thought about creating a custom tag to handle this similar to how the <fmt:formatDate value="name" /> tags work.
Something like:
<myTag:formatValue value="OO" /> <%-- prints Original --%>I think it may be overkill to create a custom tag to handle this situation.

This is required to avoid paper work of getting the signature and archiving those papers.

Requirement is
Whenever the goods are shipped from warehouse to Stores, a report of items are taken and it is signed by the driver who transports those items.
These are done by taking the printout manually and getting the signature manually.
Because of this archiving becomes very difficult.
We would like to get the drivers signature online and embed into the report.
