Digital movie charged to my Apple ID supposed to be free

Bought a blue ray movie that had free digital version. When I went to download digital I logged into my Apple ID and I got charged 17.99 instead

To be honest I am not absolutely certain about being signed into your iTunes account, I cannot see any situation where you wouldn't be. However you do not need to be connected to the Internet in order to play your rental.

Since I updated Apple TV to 4.1 it's not possible to stream movies with Dolby Digital sound to Apple TV anymore. When I try to start playing the movie I get this error message:
The operation coulnd\U2019t be completed.
(BackRowErrors error 326.)
This problem didn't appear on iOS 4.0. Videos with stereo sound still work, so I think it has something to do with the Dolby Digital. I encoded the videos using Handbrake.

I was having the same error. I switched Audio Language to default and Dolby Digital to 'on' and I finally can see the video, but with no sound...
I tried MKVTools and Handbrake, AC3 passthru for audio on both, iTunes plays nice, but Apple TV doesn't. Any other solution?

Can I transfer movies/tv shows to apple tv for storage to free up HD space?

short answer, no.
the appletv is not a primary storage device, and as such it is designed to only have copies of your content, and not the only content.
your master library is still itunes and as such itunes should always have all your content in it.
if you are running out of space then i suggest some external storage.

Apple TV uses iTunes. The reason you can't rent through your ATV is because you can't rent movies through iTunes Canada. Sadly, as this is a user-to-user forum, no one here would know when or if rentals will come to Canada.

Am sick of going back and forth with what has turned out to be worthless customer support. Have sent them so much info and pictures, no help. All they do is send me links for instructions on how to redeem the codes. I know how to redeem, I have redeemed at least 50 codes. To them I am obviously an idiot though. To me it seems to be a problem on their end, but can't get an answer from them on why it is telling me code redemption is unavailable. Please help! Anybody!

Thanks restoring and restarting didn't fix my problem - i have started it fresh and still it doesn't work. Basically I press ONCE on the remote, after the machine has not had any commands for 10 minutes, and the cursor skips from one end of the menu to the other - so I can't choose network or update software etc - I sometimes manage to stop it randomly in the middle of the menu if I press on a command in the middle of the cursor skipping all the menu steps...not sure what the problem is but I have basically not used my brand new apple tv since I bought it for that reason! I should call Apple support I suppose! grrrr hate wasting time with stuff like this!

Streaming iCloud movie from iPad to Apple TV via AirPlay resulted no picture but sound.

I notice that movie (iTunes purchased) that store in my iPad 2 when AirPlay to Apple TV 3 everything fine but for iCloud movie streaming (iTunes purchased that store in iCloud), I only manage to get sound from Apple TV 3, no picture. Apple TV only displayed running time. This happen after Apple TV new updates few days ago. Before update, everything is fine.
I used iPad 2 to stream iCloud movies to Apple TV because the streaming is much faster than using Apple TV 3 own streaming which some times the buffer took quite some times to load.
And why on my iPad 2 which still running iOS 5.1.1 the AirPlay icon missing the Mirroring on/off icon. In AirPlay I can only choose iPad or Apple TV but without the Mirroring on/off icon.
If I AirPlay iTunes purchases movies (iCloud Streaming) to Apple TV, my Pioneer AV amp decode Dolby Digital 5.1 but if I connect using Apple Digital AV Adapter via HDMI into Pioneer AV amp, I only manage to get PCM Stereo track.

How do I delete digital movie downloads from I cloud

I have a half dozen or so digital movie downloads in iTunes. I think they were originally downloaded onto my iPad 2. And then shared via the cloud with all of my Mac devices ( MacBook, iphone 5, iphone 4, iPad 2 and iPad 1). One of the movies is copying itself onto my Mac hundreds of times. I highlighted the copies and clicked delete. Clicked move to trash. They all cleared and then started popping back up at about 1 copy every 2-3 minutes. How can I stop this? Thank you for any help.

I'm not sure you can delete them from iCloud. They don't use your personal iCloud storage. You can hide them though, as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4919.
If iTunes is acting up, try signing out of your Apple ID (Store>Sign Out). Then quite iTunes (command-Q), restart your Mac, then go back and open iTunes again and sign back in with your ID (Store>Sign In). See if works properly now.

Please understand I am a frustrated customer like you, , but the availability of movies that have been shown before is dependant on licencing from the rights owners. Sky quite rightly have to pay the film studios for the ability to show to Sky's customers. As I understand it they purchase the right for a period of time, hence when the right expires then it has to be removed. The costing of the movies does reflect on the anticipated popularity of the programme, hence an older less popular movie might seem expensive but if not many people watch and pay that would be right. The apparent silliness of having movies in the store and on demand, allows those people who do not have a movie subscription to rent the movie on a one off basis. I agree that Sky seem to be licencing some programmes for shorter periods and it really upsets me when movies appear in buy and keep but not available to rent only. I recently queried Sky about Fortitude being available in OnDemand until 2022!, then of course found out that Sky owns the rights of the series. I can only say be careful if you are a movies subscriber and wish to watch a movie, not to select the Sky Store version if it is available in the Movies on Demand section. I recently wanted to watch a film that I found in Sky store at a cost, and just to be sure I searched for it and found it was to be shown on Channel 4 in a few days. I don't think we'll ever understand how such decision are made as to how long they licence movies for and how the charging model works with the film studios. Logically you would think that a smallish fee to have available indefinately and to pay the studio fee based on the number of rentals would be better, but that might be difficult to administer and Sky would have to have extra server storage fees, which they outsource. I previously entered the code to a digital movie into my computer. I accidently erased the movie off the computer. I still have the actual digital DVD, but not the flyer/paper containing the code (or the DVD plastic cover). Through iTunes/ Apple, is there any way to retrieve the digital code/movie I already input a while ago? Thanks.

Those are one-time only codes, even if you had it you could not use it again.
I don't actually know if movies downloaded this way appear in your purchase history or not, but if they do then you may be able to download the movie as and when the rights holders grant permission for repeat downloads in your region.
To avoid disappointment in future create a backup and keep it up-to-date.
