Digital painting question

Making a comic. When doing a digital painting, why do people color everything in blue before coloring with other colors?

It's a pencil sketch technique employed by old school comic artists.  It's called "non-photo" or "non-repro" blue.
Non-photo blue is a particular shade of blue that can not be detected by graphic arts cameras. This allows layout editors to write notes to the printer on the print flat (the image that is to be photographed and sent to print) which will not show in the final form. As well as this, it allows artists to lay down sketch lines without the need to erase after inking.
Non-photo blue - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
You wouldn't think it would make it to digital, but this explains it: http://comicsaregreat.com/video-making-non-photo-blue-pencils-in-photoshop
It's one of the Brush Tool Presets in Photoshop

  • Report Painter question (FGI1) How to limit output up to a specified period

    Hello
I have a report painter question.
I am trying to create a BS report using tcode FGI1 (FALGFLEXT), that lists out the BS values by month (Jan - Dec).
But the problem I am coming across is, if I specify selection parameter 01 2008, the report also populates the same values into the unposted months ahead (Feb/Mar/April)
Something is wrong with my parameters.
Is there a way I can limit the report output up to the specified period/month?
I thought I might be able to work around this by creating a formula/variable (like in GL-SL), but it doesnt seem to be the case.
    Any thoughts appreciated
    regards
    Ken

Period shall be included in the column characteristics. Check the variables or Values in column definition for the characteristic period.
You could either give the values of period 1 for col 1, 2  for col 2, etc
or you may use variables for period. The variables can be a formula variable with conditions.
You make the user to enter a value for the 'To period'  (ZTOPRD)
The value for the variable for column 2 (Feb) shall be  = 2, if ZTOPRD > or equal to  2  else, give some 17 .
This way when the user enters a value of 1in the to period, the system would default 17, for which there won't be any values.
You may extrapolate the above formula for various remaining columns of period.

  • Crazy input lag in digital painting software

    Hi,
at work I have a MacBook Air 13" Mid-2012 (CPU i5 1.8 GHz, SSD 128 GB, RAM 8 GB, OS X 10.8.5) connected to an external monitor (DELL ultrasharp). I tried to use this computer with some digital painting software (like Adobe Photoshop, Corel Painter and GIMP) via Wacom Intuos 4, but I have always the same problem: heavy input lag, I am not comfortable to paint anything with this lag. This problem occurs with mouse too (if I try to paint a long line with mouse the lag is still there); I do not have this problem under Windows 8 on another computer with my Wacom Intuos 4 (this means the problem is related to MacBook Air and/or Mountain Lion). Should I switch back to my old workstation with Windows?
    Thx for any help
    Paolo
    P.S.
All drivers and software are updated, I tried SmoothMouse and similar software but the problem is still there.

    Hi Kelmen,
"clicking mouse or keyboard will causing obvious lagging/short-hanging in game, like 1-2 seconds. if i move mouse it is ok. this will keep occuring for like 15-30 secs, after that, issue will gone."
According to my own experience ,it is a normal symptom .
During the booting process of the games ,there are many system resources occupied by the games. So it is reasonable ,we will come across a little lag issue. We can open the task manager to monitor the staus of the system resources .
To get a better performance of palying games ,we can try to disable the unnecessary autorun program to allocate the system resources for the game .
We can use the Autorun tool to achieve.
    Autoruns for Windows v13.2
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb963902.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396
To get a better performance ,it is recommended to keep the machine up to date .
We can try to manually update the driver for the mouse ,keyboard ,video card .It is recommended to download the latest driver from the manufacturer website for these devices.
    Best regards

  • My pen pressure opacity "glitches" and does a full opacity often when I try to digital paint.

Does anyone know why it does this? It does it every 4-6 times which is really really often since you brush about 10 times every 3 seconds or so when digital painting especially when shading, lighting, blending, etc with brushing.
Why does it do this? I cant recall when it started doing this but I think it was either when I updated from CS4 to CS6 or maybe it just randomly kicked in.
I already updated my drivers and re-installed my tablet. That wasn't the problem.

Traditionally this kind of problem is solved by changing / reinstalling tablet drivers.  I recall a time when people were actually having to load Wacom drivers that were NOT the latest to work around it.
As JJ has said, posting more specific information might get you more specific help.

  • I need help with digital painting

I have a sketch that I want to add color to but it always turns out flat-looking (if that makes sense). I can't seem to find any good tutorials online on digital painting. Can anyone give me good tips? This is the sketch.

Chrishonda, I may be missing something but . . Can I say painting in digital is very much like painting in canvas. Have you approached it as putting down some light base color in front of the face, say right cheek there. Brush darker as you move away from the cheek bone toward the temple. less dark as you move toward the nose. Then go back the the cheek bone and put down some lighter tone, right where the light would be reflecting off the cheek bone high spot. In PShop, set your brush options to "Fade" in x pixels, try 25 or maybe 100, depending on size and resolution.
You might check out a post or 'how to' on 'painting on layers with 50 gray fill'.
    and have fun .

  • [REQUEST] Digital Paint: Paintball 2

    Hi to everyone:
Could anyone package this?: Digital Paint: Paintball 2
Paintball2 is a fast-paced first-person game with capture the flag, elimination, siege, and deathmatch (free-for-all) styles of gameplay. This project focuses on enhancing the Quake2-based engine it uses.
With its high-value team objectives, limited range projectiles, and intense maneuvering, Paintball 2 offers a very unique experience that will appeal to both hardcore and novice players. It only takes one shot to eliminate somebody, but the fast-paced, arcade-style movement from Quake 2 allows for quick dodging, insane jumps, and breakneck speeds. Best of all, parts of the game have been released as free software.
    More info here
    A lot of thanks.

    Bom dia Carlos,
Isto acontece para 100% dos casos ou é individual?
Você fez upgrade recentemente? Instalou o SLL-NFE-JWS SP 11?
Após a instalação fez os refreshs de cache (SXI_CACHE e na web full CPA cache refresh)?

  • Report painter question FI-GL or FI-SL?

    Hello
I have a general question on reports created via report painter.
I want to create a BS & PL report to see balances by month, and am trying to determine considerations to take into account.
Creation of a report where I can see the balance of an entire year is my goal.
From my limited understanding, I know I can create it in FI-GL or FI-SL.
For FI-GL, the global variable formulas I need to create look to be a pain, since they reference user exits (to calculate periods 1-12). Maybe its not that difficult, but Im not that knowledgable on this yet.
FI-SL (Special Ledger) is something that looks very usable, and I was planning on creating a special ledger and creating a BS report for it. But my concern is its reading from a different ledger. Are there cases where a discrepancy arises between ledgers?
If anyone has any advice on the the FI-SL or report painter, I would appreciate it
    Regards,
    Ken

  • Report Painter Questions

    Hello,
I am new to SAP and this forum and have been put in charge of report development for Finance for our organization.  I have been delving into report painter on my own with no official training on it and have a few questions I can't seem to find answers to.  I was hoping someone here could help.
    1.     What is the limit to the number of columns in a report painter report?
    2.     How do I get a literal in the body of a report?  In other words, I just want text to appear in one of the lines as a label which would mark different sections of the report.
    3.     Can I get both p&l activity and balance sheet balances (not activity) in the same column of a report painter report?
    4.     Is there a way to take report painter reports and import them into an already existing formatted template so that they look nice when printed?
    5.     How do I get headers to show up in the Excel option of report painter reports?
    6.     How can I get period end dates to print in reports?
Thank you to anyone who can help.

  • WS Security digital certificate question

I have a BPEL process which I have secured using OWSM. I am using digital certificates which I have generated using the keytool command.
Say I have two clients A and B and both have their certificates and send the messages. The request contains a field called sender. A should specify this field as A, and B should specify this as B. How do I verify that A send the message in which the the sender is specified as A.
I want to validate against the digital certificate belongs to sender A. He does not fool me by providing the certificate of A but in the message sends the sender as B.
Is this scenario valid? If yes how to resolve if not why not?
Thanks in advance for your help.
    Regards,
    Sash

this is not really a certificate issue. Its more of your application / process and where you want to handle this validation. (either at OWSM or else where).
When Sender A is digitally signing the message it is coming only from A (unless the private key / cert is stolen, etc). It A itself sends wrong value for sender field, they are not sending message as per your schema.
To answer your question, yes you can validate if the sender field matches with one of the fields in your cert such as Organization Name or you can map to your database. You have to write a custom step in OWSM to match the certificate information with the sender field.
    Thanks

  • What formatting/zooming features do YOU use in Photoshop CS6? (Digital art question)

Hi, I am a beginner dabbling in digital art, and I was wondering what format you use. Examples include "Default Photoshop size", "U.S. Paper", "Web", etcetera. I feel that the paper, without doing anything to it, is too small for details.
Also, when what do the pros in digital art do as for zooming in? Do they set it "Fit on screen", "100%", "200%"? I'm talking about maybe concept paintings that have very small and fine details.
Sorry my questions are sort of awkwardly-phrased. I don't know the correct terminology.

The size and resolution depends on the intended output.
In my opinion relevant zooming shortcuts would be cmd-0 (View > Fit on Screen), cmd-1 (View > 100%) and cmd-spacebar/cmd-alt-spacebar to temporarily switch the current Tool to the Zoom Tool.

  • X-FI Titanium digital in question

    Hello,
    Here is my problem.
I have a Stanton T.90 turntable that has an spdif output that I would like to use to connect to my soundcard.
In order to do just that, I also bought an spdif/toslink converter. I did some tests on my sound system and everything works fine.
So I use the same setup and hook up the turntable to my X-FI titamium and ... no sound. At all.
Might be a problem with the soundcard. So I plug my dvd player to the soundcard using a toslink cable. Evreything works fine.
So my question is, why isn's an spdif/toslink converter working woth this soundcard while any other digital sources working? :smileysurprised:
    I'm using Vista x64?SP2.
    Any ideas?

Yes, thank you, much more readable.
I agree that you should probably do a complete uninstall and reinstall. Use a driver cleaner if you have one you are familiar with, just in case. And you can try going into device manager and seeing if there are any Creative entries, and use the uninstall (with delete driver software option checked) function there.
Be sure to only use the drivers and software from the CD; there are not currently any downloadable Titanium drivers. There is an ALchemy and wavestudio update you can apply after you install from the CD, if you end up using either of those applications.
Post if you have further issues, but hopefully that will do the trick.

  • X-Fi Fatal1ty - Digital Out questions

Hey everyone, I've done a bit of reading on this, but I'm still confused.
First, some background. I've been looking for a small speaker solution where I don't have to run speakers to the back of my office. I've decided to go with the Pioneer HTS-GS - it's branded as an Xbox Home Theater in a box. What I like about this system is that it will do a "spatial surround" and let me keep the rear speakers on my desk. It also has multiple inputs so I can hook up my xbox as well.
Now on to my question. I have the X-Fi Fatalty. I've read the sticky post stating that with PC games, "The EAX processing is done on the soundcard, and the 6-channel sound is output via the analogue (or digital DIN if available)." So - that confuses me a bit. I ran through the speaker connectivity wizard. There's an image in there that shows I can use the mini digital DIN connection to connect to a coax digital port (see here: http://ask.americas.creative.com/wwimages/speakers/xfi_xtrememusic_digital_speakers.jpg).
Now - does that mean that EAX will pass through and I'll have surround while playing games? Sorry for my confusion. I just want to make sure I'm doing the right thing...
    Thanks!

I have the exact same problem with my Fatalty sound card! So if anyone has a solution to this problem please replay.

  • Digital ID Question

Hi, I'm quite new to this, so sorry if this sounds like a silly question. I have a form that I've developed using livecycle and need to distribute it to companies that will then pass it on to employees (maybe 50 companies with 10 to 70 employees each).
I've figured out that I can encrypt the document and include users in the encryption if I have exchanged public keys, which seems to work very well. However, I don't want the form to be used for any longer than 12 months, can I change the expiry date of the encrypting certificate? Could I purchase a digital ID from verisign and set my own expiry date?
I have spent days now trying to find the answer to this and it's driving me mad. The form will not have net access as it will be used on laptops away from the workplace.
Any help would be very much appreciated.
    Sean

Since the extensions were brought up, they are only needed if you were to need the save of the file. If you have folks submit data to a web server (not the entire form), then it is not a problem. They should still be able to print the data. Since your setup looks like it would exceed the 500, you would need to call Adobe an negotiate a price if you need to use it.
As for your basic question, the other post suggested the best way to set and expiration. Other than that, you may be able to write some JavaScript that would simulate the same phenomena. You might want to ask in the scriptiong forum for related information -- I am not really a JavaScript programmer.

  • Sound Blaster Z Digital Input Question

    Hi,
Problem: PS4 connects via HDMI cable to my speaker-less monitor, cannot connect the PS4 to my stereo system since there is no separate analogue connector to use (there was on the PS3 but not on the PS4) and my stereo does not have a Digital Input connector (it's old).
Solution?: If I get hold of a Sound Blaster Z, can I connect the Digital Output from the PS4 into the Digital Input on the SBZ and therefore output my PS4 sound through my PC?
This is a relatively cheap solution for me so I would really appreciate it if you guys could give me a heads up on whether this is possible. Apologies if this is a straightforward/dumb question. I want to doublecheck before dropping the cash.
    Thanks for reading,

    Hi Yosharian,
Do you want to consider getting the Recon3D USB instead? The price is almost the same as the Sound Blaster Z and it can function alone without the computer. You may be able to save on your electricity bills using the Recon3D USB instead.
Here is an illustration of the Recon3D Omega Wireless connecting to the PS4 using SPDIF input. The Recon3D Omega Wireless is actually the Recon3D USB with a Tactic Link card connected to it and a wireless headset.
