  • Install Digital Signature on PDF Generator - Turn Key installation?

    Hi,
I use TurnKey installation to install PDF Generator ES already. It works fine and it is in production line. Now I need to install Digital Signature ES. Can I use turn key installation? I suspect if I am doing so, the Jboss/MySQL will get overwrite and the perevious PDF Generator ES installation will be messed up, right? Any recommedention under this situation how to install Digital Signature ES?
    Thanks a lot.

    Hi,
I believe the correct approach will be to run the configuration manager, and simply add your key for DS, and go through the configuration. It shouldn't destroy your PDF G installation.

    Hello Surender,
there may have been connection problems to your content repository when you tried to view this file. I would also recommend that you apply the latest version of the Acrobat Reader. I would recommend that you run a
trace on the RFC destination to your archive and see what errors are reported when this error occurs again.

  • Digital Signature on PDF

    Hi Folks!
I'd like to digitally sign a PDF document out of an ABAP program or class, just to ensure that the document was not modified by anyone.
In my program I hold the PDF as a binary stream in a XSTRING variable. I convert it into a binary table and use the function module 'SSF_KRN_SIGN_BY_AS' to sign this binary stream. In general, this is working fine (validating it with function module 'SSF_KRN_VERIFY' is successful).
But if I open the generated file with Acrobat Reader, no signature is found.
Obviously it does not work to sign the binary directly, as I did.
How can I create a digital signature on PDFs using ABAP? Do I have to convert it into ASCII or so before? Or: How must a signature be attached to a PDF file?
Our release is 620. Every little hint is appreciated.

    Hello Srini,
To Migrate Smart Form into Adobe
    Prerequisites
All graphics that are used in the Smart Form have already been migrated.
    Process:
Go to the Smart Forms initial screen (transaction SMARTFORMS).
Choose Utilities --> Migration --> Interactive Form -->Export.
In the dialog box, enter the name of the Smart Form that you want to migrate, the name of the PDF-based target form, and the target interface. The system suggests the name of the Smart Form as the name for the target form and target interface. You can change these names. The target form and the target interface can have different names.
    Choose Continue.
The system displays the Settings dialog box where you can flag various options for migration. To activate the selected options and close the dialog box, choose Continue.
the dialog box Create Object Directory Entry, enter a package for the interface, or save it as a local object.
Assign the form to a package, or save the form as a local object.
    The system migrates the form.
If no errors occur during the migration, you can activate the new interface and the PDF-based form. If you see an error message, read Migration with Errors or Warnings below.
Activating an Interface and PDF-Based Print Form
If the form was migrated without errors, the system returns a corresponding message. You now have a PDF-based form (consisting of a form and interface) that you can edit. Initially, migrated forms and interfaces are always inactive and therefore have to be activated before a call can be made from the application.
To activate or edit the form, choose Utilities --> Migration --> Interactive Form --> Edit. The system displays the initial screen of the form builder for PDF-based forms. After you have activated the form, you can "switch runtime" as described below.
    Refer:Migrating Smart Forms
Pl read the constraints before migrating
    Notes About Migrating Smart Forms
    Hope the above information helps......

  • Using iText to generate a digital signature that can be signed in Adobe Reader

I am able to create a digital signature in a pdf using iText.  Adobe Reader does not allow that digital signature to be signed.  Everything I have been reading suggests that I need to enabe Reader Usage Rights, but that requires using Adobe Pro.  I was hoping that I would only need Adobe Reader inorder to digitally sign the pdf, is that possible?

    Not without the required rights...

  • Digital Signature on pdf Invoice generated by BI Publisher

  • Non-Digital Signature on PDF Form

I've created a form and have a space where a signature is needed.  I'd like to use the signature field, but when my audience tested it the box was blank and did not allow them to upload a digital signature or go through the adobe security signature process (which it did for me).  This could be because they are only looking at it in Reader.  Nonetheless, here's my question:
Is there a way to create a signature field where they can either upload their own electronic signature (like from a .jpg file) or let them sign it with a different font?
Or do I just leave the signature field off, let them print it and hard sign the form, scan it and email it back?
    Help!

Recent versions of Acrobat can use digital certificates to sign PDF forms with a digital signature field.
Only Reader version XI can use a digital certificate to sign a PDF form with a digital signature field only if the form does not have Extended Reader Rights. Older versions or Reader cannot sign with a digital certificate.
If you need this or all versions or Reader you either need to use Echosign or other signing service or purchase a LIveCycle Server product to apply the special right for digital certificate signing. But this will be costly.

  • Verifying digital signatures in PDF documents

I'm working on verifying PDFs digital signatures.
I know that when a PDF is signed, a byterange is defined, the certificates get embedded, and from what i've read, the signed message digest and the timestamp are also stored in the PDF.
I already can extract the certificates and validate them. Now I'm trying to validate the pdf's integrity and my problem is I don't know where the signed message digest is located.
In this sample signed pdf (http://blogs.adobe.com/security/SampleSignedPDFDocument.pdf), I can clearly identify the digest since it is down below the embedded certificates: /DigestMethod/MD5/DigestValue/ (line 1520).
But that PDF sample seems to be from 2009, and I suspect the message digest is stored in a different way now, because I signed a PDF with Adobe Reader and I can't find any message digest field like the previous one. Can someone tell if the digests are now stored in a different way? Where are they located?
Anyway, for now I'm using that sample document, and trying to verify its integrity. I'm getting the document's bytes to be signed acording to the specified byterange, and digesting them with MD5 algorithm, but the digest value I get doesn't match with the one from the message digest field... Am I doing something wrong? Is the digest also signed with the signer's private key?
    I appreciate any help.

You cannot rely on the digest to be in a certain place in PDF. If you want to manually verify the digest in a PDF signature here's what you need to do.
    1. Open PDF in a Text Editor.
    2. Find Signature Dictionary for your signature.
    3. Get the Hex String which is the value of the /Contents entry in the Signature Dictionary.
    4. Convert Hex String to binary string and discard trailing zeros. Remember that in a Hex string each byte is represented with two characters and the last one might be a zero. So, when you discard zeros make sure that what you get left has even number of bytes.
    5. Use one of the commercially available BER Viewers (you can find free BER Viewers on the Web) to convert the binary string to ANSI.1 representation.
    6. Analyze the BER-decoded PKCS#7 signature object (RFC 2315 describes it) and find the digest that you are looking for in it. It is an OCTET STRING.
If you want to programmatically validate a signature, you need to write code that does all that. Signature validation includes much more than checking the digest. You need to build chain, validate each certificate in the chain, check revocation for each certificate in the chain, etc. RFC 5280 is the guide what to do.
    Good luck!
