Digital Signature Incorrect / Coddec Overrun possible Solution please read!

Ok Ive posted this under a few topcis. I will go over my issue and I hope this will help others out there having the same issue.
First of all here is my setup:
2 PC's
1 Mac mini
1 Netgear Wireless Router WGR614V6
Ok now heres the issue which btw JUST popped up this weekend:
This happened a few times in the past but nothing serious where I would run the apple SW updater and it would find relevant updates to my computer. Then Id start to download them. The system would almost finish downloading them and then id receive the error " The digial Signature is incorrect or the software package has been tampered with since leaving apple please try again"
So i was like ok no biggie I will just download them manually more of a pain then anything but oh well.
So after downloading the installers from apple directly id double click on the DMG file only to get another error "Codec Overrun error Invalid Checksum"
So i researched that error and found that it means the download is corrupt. so I was like ***!!
So after a few days of research I found that on my model of router there is a thing called an SPI Firewall which fine tooth combs packets of info inbound to your network once its done your packets are most if not all the time F-ed up by them time it reaches the actual computer.
Luckily I ran into another Mac user on the netgear page who was having the EXACT problem I was. So I followed his solution and turned off my SPI firewall and also updated the ROM to my router and that nailed 2 birds with one stone.
It stopped the digital Sig errors as well as stopped the corrupted downloads. Ive been fully operational w/ no errors for a full day now. I will update you if the status changes but for now.. all is green!!
I understand everyone may not have a Netgear Router but you may think about removing the router temporarily for troubleshooting procedures to see if this will alleviate the issue you are having. if it does then you know the issue lies with your router and not apple which im about 95% sure thats the case.
I hope this helps alot of people since I knew how frustrating and PO'ed I was dealing with this!

I reinstalled the operating system using a Zero Level format and then installed Tiger and updated to 10.4.9. All works fine now.

I have tried, several times, to update OS 10.5.1 to 10.5.8 using Apple's online software updater. It takes 20 minutes to download the 768 mb package but then
refuses to save with the following message. 2.16 GHz + 2 GB ram.
Mac OS X can't be saved. The digital signature for this package is incorrect. The package may have been tampered with or corrupted since being signed by Apple.
I need to update to 10.5.8 so I can then install 10.6 etc.
I have tried to install 10.6 without updating to 10.8 but it shows the message: Mac OS X can't install on this computer. I assume this is because I have not, and
cannot, updated to 10.5.8.
Any help would be appreciated.
Apple want me to pay $20 to advise them that their software package has an incorrect digital signature, even though it has only just been downloaded from their servers. No email address to advise Apple of problem.

Hello, it's generally one of two thinks that cause this, but it is a bad download.
Try Ethernet instead of Airport if possible.
Disk can be corrupted...
Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
Try getting it direct instead of SWUPDate...
Repair Permissions afterwords, reboot.

Software Update - digital signature incorrect

I have several update packages that were consistently reporting the error:
*The update "xxxxxxx" can't be saved.*
The digital signature for this package is incorrect.
The updates are:
iLife Support 9.0.3
Java for Mac OS X 10.5 Update 4 1.0
Safari 4.0
Several other updates (eg. recent iTunes and QuickTime) downloaded and installed OK.
I tried all of the following to no avail:
Repair disk permissions
Reinstall 10.5.7 combo package manually
Delete Software Update preferences & cache files
Multiple restarts
Finally I tried running Software Update under a fresh admin account and they downloaded OK. (Different issue that the Java Update later said it couldn't install).
So seemingly this is related to something in my usual admin account. Does anybody know what other preference files I should look to delete, or any other hidden setting that is affecting the digital signature checking?

I tried all of the following to no avail:
Repair disk permissions
Guess Carolyn didn't notice this.
This was happening fairly frequently about a month ago when 10.5.7 came out. The Apple servers were overloaded apparently and some incomplete downloads occurred so some type of checksum prevented running the update. Waiting and downloading later seemed to be the best solution.

Perhaps by the time you did all the troubleshooting steps, if you tried it from the original admin account it would have downloaded correctly.

Mac G3 w/ Tiger 10.4.3 update problem/issue "digital signature incorrect"

I have an old G3 on which I reloaded 10.4.3 yesterday (Retail copy). It did not go very smoothly. This is the 3rd install; 1st install was several months ago with this chip, 2nd install was shortly after that with a PowerLogix chip which didn't work. I put the old chip/processor back in yesterday and reinstalled again. I don't remember if I messed with the firmware or not with the previous installs.
PowerMacG3, Model 1.1, PowerPC750, 256meg, BootRom 1.1.1f4
The software updater tells me I need to update to 10.4.8. When I proceed with this, the system downloads the software OK, but when it attempts to install the update I get the following error:
The update "Mac OS X Update Combined (PowerPC) can't be installed.
The digital signature for this package is incorrect.
The package may have been tampered with or corrupted since being signed by "Apple".
Any ideas as to how I resolve this? Could the problem be with the OS registration, and the different chips?

Yes, I can do a nozzle check with the USB unplugged,
and I still get poor results on the C82 and nothing
on the C86. I just can't believe both printers are
broken. The C86 is new, and they were both working
fine previously.
Epsons are notorious for getting their print heads clogged. Run the clean print head routine a few times. If that doesn't work, return the new printer 'cause it's dead out of the box. The old printer, well, once Epson print heads get to a certain level of clogging, nothing will unclog them. Toss the printer and get a new one. Hint: HP and (some) Canon printers put the print heads in the ink cartridges, while Epson and (some) Canons have the print heads in the printers. Machines which have the heads in the carts also have an easy fix for severe clogs: toss the cart. Warning: HP printer drivers stink.
If you don't need colour, you might think seriously about getting a low-end laser.
I just got the C82 to print readably, but still
completely missing magenta and with minimal
fuzziness. This was just dumb luck though, from
letting the printer sit idle for several hours.
It's still clogged. Clean the heads a few times again, or just toss it.
And yes, I've tried setups through the Print & Fax
pref pane, which usually works better than going

Digital Signature Incorrect?

In the process of updating my iTunes software (using Software Update from Preferences) to the latest version 8.2.1 I received this message ...
The update “itunes” can’t be installed.
The digital signature for this package is incorrect. The package may have been tampered with or corrupted since being signed by “Apple.”
I note I've had recent similar problems when attempting earlier upgrades including the latest “Security Update 2009-003 (PowerPC)” upgrade.
After looking through this forum it was suggested that one should download the latest version of iTunes directly from the Apple download website at http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ and try the install again.
I did that and completed the download of the iTunes8.2.1.dmg file to my desktop but, when I clicked on it to install I received the following message ...
The Following disk images failed to mount
iTunes8.2.1.dmg – Reason: invalid checksum
What's up with that? Suddenly I'm unable to update any of my software without receiving at least one of the above two messages?
Any ideas how to fix the problem?

I am having this trouble with several updates I've been trying to do with an eMac onto which I just installed 10.4 from scratch. The 10.4.11 combo updater wouldn't download or install because the verification check failed. I figured out a way around THAT, but now iTunes won't install, and java updates fail via Software Update for the same reason. I've been doing this for a lot of years and I've never seen this happen before!

I have purchased a third party digital signature certificate. I have also installed in the windows ID. but when i try to click on the sign command it doesnt really work. i have tried it on Adobe 9 as well as adobe X.

Using iText to generate a digital signature that can be signed in Adobe Reader

I am able to create a digital signature in a pdf using iText. Adobe Reader does not allow that digital signature to be signed. Everything I have been reading suggests that I need to enabe Reader Usage Rights, but that requires using Adobe Pro. I was hoping that I would only need Adobe Reader inorder to digitally sign the pdf, is that possible?

Security Issues: SSL on SOAP Adapter and Digital Signature in BPM

we're developing a R/3-XI-3rd Party Application scenario, where the XI/3rd Party communication is based on a webservice (SOAP adapter with SSL). Also, the messages in the XI/3rd Party communication must be digitally signed. I've got some questions on both subjects.
1. About the SSL. I've started to investigate what will be necessary to enable the HTTPS option under SOAP Adapter (it's not enabled now). If I'm not correct, all I need to do is:
- check whether the SAP Java Crypto Lib is installed in the Web AS;
- generate the certificate request in the Visual Administrator and, after acquiring the certificate, store it with the KeyStorage option.
Is that right?
I'm considering that I won't need to use SSL in the ABAP Web AS, only the J2EE Java Engine (since the SOAP Adapter is based on J2EE).
2. About the digital signature. As a first solution, we had decided on accessing a webservice based on another machine running a signature application. We'd send the unsigned XML and receive a signed XML. But since that needed to be done into the BPM, I thought that using a piece of Java code in a mapping would suit it better.
But to be able to use the hashing/encrypting/encoding algorithms, which library needs to be installed? Is it the same SAP Java Crypto Lib that was installed for the SSL enabling?

Digital signatures with Sapscript

Hello experts.
Had anyone worked with Sapscript using digital signatures?
Is this possible? I believe the Sapscript technology is old to support digital signatures.
The only solution in Sapscript would be to upload the signature images, wouldn't it?

Is the digital signature in the form of a bmp or tiff ? If yes, then you can have a BDC of SE78(Graphics Management ), which will upload the graphics to the SAP system & then you can use it in your smart form or sap script dynamically.

Digital signature hiding!

Hello Guys,
I have a question to ask you regarding digital signature. In my workflow, there will 3 or more than people has to digital sign in one PDF. And when we see all the signatures in the document, it looks like document is filled with signature. So I would like to ask if it is possible to keep the digital signature hide?
If possible, please let me know, how it is possible...

I think i understood what you mean. But i have a question that why do we need do 'Clear the signature from the signature Navigation panel'.
Why can't we able to insert invisible signature once we done with first one? (without doing clear the signature)
The reason to ask this question is that we have no idea how many people may check one file. some times may be 1 person or some times may be 3 or more. So in this case it is better to have a direct option for multi invisible signatures.
So is there any way to do this?

Problems with badge reader of the digital signature

I have the badge reader of the Athena Smartcard Solution.
It worked with the OS X 10.4.8. Now after updating to 10.4.9, the reader doesn't work. I have a PB with PPC. I have tried it with a MacIntel and it works. This is a great problem for me because I have to use the badge reader for the legal digital signature.
Anyone could help me, please?

And if that doesn't work I would contact the Smart Card reader company and let them know you are having this problem. It sounds like they used some non-standard coding for their USB drivers, and need to get an updated firmware for their hardware. In the meantime, reverting back to 10.4.8, while not easy can be done if you either backed up before upgrading, or follow the steps at the end of my FAQ*:

There is a slight risk some applications from Apple may not run properly if they weren't designed to run with 10.4.8 but were with 10.4.9. Do clone* your machine in 10.4.9 at least twice before attempting this:

Digital Signatures with Adobe Reader

So i created an adobe form with acrobat 9 and sent it out for all to digitally sign. about half are getting an error when they try to sign it. "The credential selected for signature is invalid"
We are a government agency and use Common Access Cards (CAC) certificates to digitally sign with.
i was hoping someone out there could either point me to a good recource for adobe and digital signatures or to a possible fix.
now we have narrowed it down to the problem being with the specific machine. the user can digitally sign the document on another machine, but not on thier own machine. Also, no one else can sign the doc on thier machine either.
