Digital Signature with PDF problem

I followed the steps in Administrator's Guide for Oracle Business Intelligence Publisher to assign PDF files with Digital Signature ,,
however when i schedule a new job it succeeds but i don't get my digital signature ,, but i get an empty square with nothing written in it.
however, when i tried to sign my PDF directly form Adobe and it worked ok ,, so there is no problem with my PSK file,,
i have uploaded an output sample (you can notice the square, where the DS should be, in the top-center area)
the sample output

Gerorge, thank you so much.  I have since upgreaded to Pro and am now trying to figure out how to use the digital signatures correctly.  I have sent out a test form and had a coworker complete, sign and send back but when I open up the form it says I have a signature error.  and then i get this pop up when I click on the signature
What am I doing wrong?  I work in HR and need these to be valid signatures.  Thank you so much in advance!!!

  • Digital signature with HSM

    Hi all,
As you know BI Publisher allows applying digital signature on PDF document. It can be configured vai GUI or you can apply digital signature using Java API supplied with BI Publisher. It's quite straightforward procedure. But problems are coming when you try to make the signature complaint with EU Commission Directive 1999/93/EC or similar US legislature. I do not think everyone is interested in all the details. But the difficulties we have confronted with are related to the fact that BI Publisher API can deal only with Private Key and Certificate stored in PKCS#12 storage. And most of Certification Service providers provide all these data in HSM devices that support only PKCS#11 interface and private key is not extractable.
    So questions are:
-does anyone aware of supported integration of BI Publisher with HSM devices?
-may be there is any alternative solution to feed BI Publisher with token from PKCS#11 complaint HSM device.
-Is there certification service providers who provide certificates in PKCS#12 format?
    Thanks in advance,
    Shavkat

You can't reset it. Create a new signature.

  • How to validate XML Digital Signature with XML DB (o PL/SQL) in Oracle 11g

    Hi,
Do you know if there is possibility to validate XML Digital Signature using XML DB (or PL/SQL) in Oracle 11g?
Let say I have CLOB/XMLType containing Digitally Signed XML, and I want to validate, that thsi is proper signature. I also have public key of signer (I could store it in CLOB or file or Oracle wallet).
    Is it possible to do?
If there is need to install additional component - then which one?

    Hi,
this is what i got from someone...
but the links he gave are not opening up...
u have to place a picture there and have to load the digital signatures as Jpegs on to the server to OA top
and have to refer them in the XML for dynamically get the signature on the reports
when u select the properties of the picture placed in the XML template,
there will be one tab with "URL"... in that u have to give the path for that jpegs

  • Digital Signature on PDF

    Hi Folks!
I'd like to digitally sign a PDF document out of an ABAP program or class, just to ensure that the document was not modified by anyone.
In my program I hold the PDF as a binary stream in a XSTRING variable. I convert it into a binary table and use the function module 'SSF_KRN_SIGN_BY_AS' to sign this binary stream. In general, this is working fine (validating it with function module 'SSF_KRN_VERIFY' is successful).
But if I open the generated file with Acrobat Reader, no signature is found.
Obviously it does not work to sign the binary directly, as I did.
How can I create a digital signature on PDFs using ABAP? Do I have to convert it into ASCII or so before? Or: How must a signature be attached to a PDF file?
Our release is 620. Every little hint is appreciated.

  • Digital Signatures with SmartCards.

    Hi guys,
Has anyone implemented in R/3 digital signatures with smartcards?
Currently I'm at customer side trying to implement digital signatures within workflow processes using ABAP SSF functions. The smartcard devices are already installed, but I can't read the data inside the smartcard, moreover, I can't link the smartcard device with R/3 and I don't know how to do it…
I read in some Weblogs and documents that it is necessary a SAP-certified external security product. I believe this external security product is the software that comes inside of smartcard drivers CD. It is something like a little application on which we can sign in data and put our fingerprint.
I guess it is not supposed to develop an interface application between smartcard and R/3! When I started these developments I thought that I only needed to configure some environment variables to connect these devices with R/3 and then develop the ABAP flow logic with SSF Functions - Am I right?
Can anyone provide me some guidelines for this issue?
    Thanks in advance,
    Ricardo.

The SmartCard device is present at the frontend PC - and that's the place where the digital signature operation has to take place. Important is the "What You See Is What You Sign" principle: it has to be ensured that the data that is to be signed (using the private key stored on the SmartCard) is exactly the same as the one that is displayed to the user.
Notice: there is a different scenario where the server is signing the data (after prompting the user for userID and password and validating that information).
The signed data is then transported back to the server where it is stored (to ensure auditibility); usually you'll have to keep the (archived) data for years; the public key need to be archived as well.
Notice: it is possible to attach the certificate (-> public key) which has been used to sign the data to the signed data.

  • Does any have problem viewing digital signature from PDF?

I have this problem, when viewing digitally signed PDF from iBooks app, all the signatures are gone.

I sign the pdf with a digital signature which includes a picture of my written signature.  When I attach it to Apple mail or upload to mobileme, the signiture disappears.  My clients see nothing.  When I go back to the email in the sent box and open the pdf in the email there is no signature.  When I open the original pdf the signature is there

I don't know if I can explain it any better.

  • Verifying digital signatures in PDF documents

I'm working on verifying PDFs digital signatures.
I know that when a PDF is signed, a byterange is defined, the certificates get embedded, and from what i've read, the signed message digest and the timestamp are also stored in the PDF.
I already can extract the certificates and validate them. Now I'm trying to validate the pdf's integrity and my problem is I don't know where the signed message digest is located.
In this sample signed pdf (http://blogs.adobe.com/security/SampleSignedPDFDocument.pdf), I can clearly identify the digest since it is down below the embedded certificates: /DigestMethod/MD5/DigestValue/ (line 1520).
But that PDF sample seems to be from 2009, and I suspect the message digest is stored in a different way now, because I signed a PDF with Adobe Reader and I can't find any message digest field like the previous one. Can someone tell if the digests are now stored in a different way? Where are they located?
Anyway, for now I'm using that sample document, and trying to verify its integrity. I'm getting the document's bytes to be signed acording to the specified byterange, and digesting them with MD5 algorithm, but the digest value I get doesn't match with the one from the message digest field... Am I doing something wrong? Is the digest also signed with the signer's private key?
    I appreciate any help.

You cannot rely on the digest to be in a certain place in PDF. If you want to manually verify the digest in a PDF signature here's what you need to do.
    1. Open PDF in a Text Editor.
    2. Find Signature Dictionary for your signature.
    3. Get the Hex String which is the value of the /Contents entry in the Signature Dictionary.
    4. Convert Hex String to binary string and discard trailing zeros. Remember that in a Hex string each byte is represented with two characters and the last one might be a zero. So, when you discard zeros make sure that what you get left has even number of bytes.
    5. Use one of the commercially available BER Viewers (you can find free BER Viewers on the Web) to convert the binary string to ANSI.1 representation.
    6. Analyze the BER-decoded PKCS#7 signature object (RFC 2315 describes it) and find the digest that you are looking for in it. It is an OCTET STRING.
If you want to programmatically validate a signature, you need to write code that does all that. Signature validation includes much more than checking the digest. You need to build chain, validate each certificate in the chain, check revocation for each certificate in the chain, etc. RFC 5280 is the guide what to do.
    Good luck!

  • Signature with .pdf image only?

I have created a fillable form using Adobe Pro XI.  The form can be filled out using Reader and
users can put in their digital ID signatures into the blocks I created for
that.  However, going through the process
of signing the form, the only option for a scanned in image of a hand written
signature is a .pdf file.  Guess I
thought any type file such as jpegs, bitmaps, etc. could be used.  The problem with the .pdf file is our users
cannot crop this type of image down to just the signature using Reader.  So, when the image is placed into the
signature block, it is the whole 8.5x11 page.
Can’t really see the signature.  I
tested some other fillable forms for Reader found online from other sources and
it I is the same thing.  Can only use
.pdf  file as the signature image.  Is there another way to do this?  Am I missing something?

Reader only allows signatures from pdf files, Acrobat from other files. When scanning their signature they should be able to scan to a custom size page or use a graphics program to crop the scanned image even if it is a pdf. The Mac Preview program is capable of cropping pdfs. The only graphics program I use on Windows is Photoshop, which can do the job, but it is certainly what I would call overkill for the job. Perhaps ImageJ or Gimp can do the job of cropping.

  • Apple mail strips my digital signature from pdf attachments

I communicate with clients through email.  I send reports which contain a picture of my signature and a digital hass.  Apple mail strips the signature from the pdf files as I attach them.
An aside.  I use mobile me and the idisk server.  All documents located on the idisk are also stripped of the signature block.
This is not a problem if I use outlook, which I guess I have to switch back to again.
What does apple have against a digital signature

I sign the pdf with a digital signature which includes a picture of my written signature.  When I attach it to Apple mail or upload to mobileme, the signiture disappears.  My clients see nothing.  When I go back to the email in the sent box and open the pdf in the email there is no signature.  When I open the original pdf the signature is there

    hi....
    thanks for replying..

It did work with earlier versions that did not perform a full save when a signature was applied. Since Acrobat/Reader now do a Save As when a signature is applied, there are no incremental saves to include in the FDF. This can still be useful for forms that haven't been signed, oddly enough, but since you cannot control whether the user performs a full save, it shouldn't be relied on for general use. The big problem is extracting the appended saves from the FDF so you can concatenate it to original document. The FDF Toolkit is the only thing I'm aware of that helps with this.
as u said that,Fdf tool kits can help to solve my problem. Can u send me the sample of code using java so that i can get the value using Fdf Tool kits?
