Digital (square) signal error

Hello
I have a problem with MultiSIM 9.0.155.
I have built a circuit shown on this picture http://img237.imageshack.us/img237/9764/digitaltoanalogcircutzw1.png.It is supposed to convert a digital (4bit) signal into analog signal (by it's value) so that when the digital signal is 0000 the analog value is 0V, and when it's for ex. digital sig is 1111 the analog value is of 2V... (this circuit uses a two 8-LED bars to indicate which "switch is on", and there isnt an analog signal output yet...)
This circut should work fine, but: When I tried to simulate a 4bit value with a four function generators (with frequencyes set to 1Hz, 2Hz, 4Hz, and 8Hz) the result is something like this:
http://img528.imageshack.us/img528/4268/digitaltoanalogcircutpoig1.png. In this picture the 4 keys are unpressed, and even then i still have a signal like that on the picture...??
I replaced four function gens with 4 batteries as a source but still the  signal is the same??...-> an square alternating current with rising and falling edges...
Here is a closer picture with the batteries as a sourcehttp://img300.imageshack.us/img300/9616/digitaltoanalogsourcera4.png.
I don't know if something is not set properly (but it shouldn't get an square signal with the batteries as a source and the 4 keys unpressed), so if anyone sees what's the problem post an answer please..
I have tried to restart MultiSIM but still with the same results...

Hi there,
I'm not sure how you created this schematic, but somehow, the 4 nets (a.k.a wires) that you are measuring have the same name! When Multisim starts simulating, it treats all wires by the same name as a single electrically connected wire. That is why you saw the same signal on all 4 channels of your oscilloscope. There is a way to fix this:
Right click on one of the wires, lets say the one you labeled bit 0
Click properties
Change the net name to b0
Click OK
Multisim is going to tell you that you have other wires that have the same name but are not connected. Tell Multisim that you do not want to change the names of the other wires.
Now repeat this for the remaining 3 bits, but name them b1, b2 and b3
I bet there may be other wires in your design that have the same problem. Unfortunately, I think you will have to manually go through your design and find them all.
If you ever find out what you did to make this happen, please let us know. We are always interested to know how to make Multisim easier to use so that mistakes like these don't happen.
Hope that helps!

  • Digital square signal

    Hi all,
I want to verify if my digital square signal turn on or off. If someone Has a idea, please help me
I created a Mask, in such a way that if my signal leave the Mask. I will have a Message Error. It's work but I should each time modify the values of Culsters of the function 'Limit Specification" If I change the Signal
You Will find in the attached file the block diagram.
Thank you in advance for your answers

Do you want to do this comparison on the fly or post processing?  You are currently doing a post processing.
I'm not understanding exactly what you are looking for.  Are you just looking for when the value changes?

  • How can i design square signal which having a positive and negative values equal to each other and separated from each other by controlled time or distance

How can i design square signal which having a positive and negative values equal to each other and separated from each other by controlled time or distance, As it is shown in the figure below. and enter this signal in a daq.

By the time you spend for the nice diadram you might have done the vi
Your DAQ like to have a waveform (array of values and dt ak 1/samplerate)
If you set the samplerate you know the array length , create a array of zeros, and set the values of both amplitudes ...
Since I don't want to wire others homework here are some pictures
And there are some drawbacks is room for improvement in my solution, just think of rounding errors ... and what might happen if the arrays get bigger ....

  • Converting square signal into sinusiod avoiding Fourier Transform

I have a clean digitized square wave signal with a frequency around 50 kHz and I would like to convert it into a sinusoid with the same frequency and phase (don't care about amplitude). I would like to do so avoiding the stantard approach that would be  doing the Fourier tranform to measure the frequency and phase and then generating a new sinusoid. Are you aware of any other procedure?
    Thank you!

What's up with the FFT-phobia? Is this some kind of homework with silly restrictions?
(Even the zero phase filter mentioned by Darin might use FFT like functions internally. )
Keeping up the facade, here's one way using "extract single tone". (Which also uses FFT internally).
Of course you could get a good initial estimate on the frequency and phase by measuring the zero crossings, then fit to a sine function with adjustable amplitude, phase and frequency using levenberg-marquardt. Suddenly, FFT seems like a better idea .

  • No signal error with mac mini to acer monitor

I bought an Acer monitor and a Mac mini back 11/11 and it has worked fine.  I recently moved the computer to a new room and when I set everything up I got a no signal error with the monitor and went to sleep mode.  I have tried another monitor (viewsonic) and a new VGA cable and a new VGA to dvi converter to no avail.......any suggestiins....frustrating thing is both monitor and computer are working.

  • 'No signal' error on LG 22ls4d.

I've looked through the forum, and most people having problems seem to revolve around the resolution, but mine won't display at all.
    My setup is:
Macbook -> Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter -> DVI to VGA cable -> LG 22ls4d
The Macbook picks up the display in the options, and comes up with the model number and I can change all the settings, but the monitor only displays a 'no signal' message. I know the screen and cable work properly as I can run my PC on it with no problems, and the Mini DisplayPort adapter is brand new, as is the Macbook.
    Things I've tried:
Turning everything on and off, with the adapter both connected and not connected.
    Changing resolutions, mirror displays, etc.
Sacrificing a lamb to the LG Gods.
    Any help much appreciated.

Macbook -> Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter -> DVI to VGA cable -> LG 22ls4d
That's not going to work. The Mini DisplayPort-to-DVI adapter only outputs a digital DVI signal, _not_ VGA. Thus, you can't use a simple DVI-to-VGA cable to connect to your monitor. What you need is the equivalent of Apple's Mini DisplayPort-to-VGA adapter combined with a VGA cable.
Note, while some video cards support both digital and analog output over a DVI-I connector, the output from Apple's Mini DisplayPort-to-DVI is strictly digital (i.e. it's a DVI-D connection).
Here is a link that will explain the differences:

  • Enabling Simultanious Analog and Digital Audio Signals

My apple TV runs through a Yamaha receiver. It is hooked up with component video and digital audio cables. I also need to hook analog audio to my receiver so it can play outdoor speakers through zone 2 (which only recognizes analog signals). Zone 2 does not work when I hook both digital and analog cables. Called Yamaha and they said to look for a setting on Apple TV that enables simultanious analog and digital audio signals. Does anyone know if/how this can be done? Or any other way to make the analog zone work without losing digital on the main zone?

AFAIK, the analog audio on the ATV outputs all the time. The audio output setting in the ATV just determines whether the digital output is Dolby or PCM. Try turning off Dolby in the ATV audio settings and see if that makes a difference. If not, the problem is probably elsewhere.

  • Using a SCC counter pulse train to control a SCC digital out signal

I am trying to send a digital high signal on a SCC-Digital ouput module for a certain number of pulses generated by a SCC-Counter/timer pulse train. I have found examples of how to route such signals through PFI12 etc on an M-series board but I am trying to achieve this without referring to the card, just the SCC modules themselves.
I cannot find a way to use the sample clock from the counter generated pulse train to synchronise the digital output.
Is there any way I can do this without referring to the connected M-series DAQ card channels?
Thanks in advance for your assistance.
    Cheers.

    Hi Phil,
The SCC carrier is only conditioning your signals (i.e. if your signals are not in optimal ranges, bandwidth or need external excitation). The actual counters and all digital lines are controlled directly by the M-series board. This means you will never be able to refer to a counter in the SCC module.
If you route the signals of the M-Series board, is as if you had done so externally from the SCC. Look at this example and might give you more insight to how to implement it (This is software timing). The hardware timing would be doing correlation DIO. Here is an example that needs to be modified to adapt to your timing: http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/epd/p/id/4414

    [Signaling Error: error already pending]
    [Signaling Error: error already pending]
    [Signaling Error: error already pending]
Though the site is functioning properly, I am curious to what this means and how
    to get rid of it?
    I am on Solaris 2.7, jdk 1.2.2_07, WLS 5.1, SP8.
    Shiva.

    David,
It would be very helpful if you could state more about what your application
is doing-- the more information the better.

  • Pixelation / digital squares on images in Slideshow

Quite often in Slideshow in LR I get images which are not properly processed by Lightroom, that is to say that it's as tho' my machine can't process the image and display it properly -- the images are a montage of the original in large (2 or 3 millimetre) digital squares. Any idea why? (I have a decent machine (MacBook Pro with 2GB of RAM running nothing else and with acres of storage on tap)).

I've never figured out the exact reason for this, but I suspect it's because the standard-sized previews aren't built. Building them on import isn't enough if you edit them as thumbs in library, either by using QD or by copying and pasting settings from image to image.
Try selecting all time images for the slide show first, and then hitting render standard previews. See if that works reliably.

  • No digital tv signal message

When i switched my tv on i got a message saying that there is no digital tv signal found. It had another message undeneath which gave me 5 minutes before the tv switched off. I couldn't move from this screen which means I cannot access settings to try and fix any problems myself. I have looked through the guide and online and this problem does not seem to come up. Any help is appreciated.

This sounds more of an issue with your televison rather than the YouView box.
How is your YouView connected to your TV - SCART or HDMI?
I assume that you have the aerial connected to the YouView box antenna-in. Do you also have the antenna-out on YouView connected to your TV's aerial connection?
Is this the first time you've had this issue?
Is the YouView box powered on?

  • Is it save to use digital output as a digital input signal for another channel

    Hi all,
I know this is a stupid question, but I do not have other signal generator by hand. So what I want to know is, can I use the digital output signal of my USB-6001 as an input signal for the same device but on other digital port? I did not try out directly because I do not want to burn the device down......
    Thanks

I do loop backs all the time, especially in my test systems as a way of making sure my signal is making it to the UUT pin.  I typically throw in a 10k resistor just in case, but I have never had an issue.

    David,
It would be very helpful if you could state more about what your application
is doing-- the more information the better.
    Thanks,

  • How can I use Labview to create a graph of digital voltage signal vs. Time?

I am measuring a digital voltage signal and I need to generate a graph vs. Time and be able to add user controls to start/stop the graphing and be able to export the graph to other programs such as MS Excel. Any help you could give would be much appreciated. Thank you.

You probably want to use a chart. Place it inside a while loop that runs continuously. The chart should be in a case structure so it is bypassed depending on the boolean pause/continue switch.
To save the data, get the "history data" of the chart via a propery node and save it to a file. It is probably easiest to save it to an ASCII file. Most other programs will be able to read it.
See how far you get. If you get stuck, post your VI and we'll help you.
