Digital Voice Editor 3.3

Hi, I help a woman who transcribes a pastor's sermon using the Digital Voice Editor software. We had to replace her older XP computer with a new computer running Win 7 Home Perimum 64 bit. I have installed the latest version of DVE, but I am having a problem with it not responding. When a button or tab or even selecting a voice file is selected, the wait cursor appears and remains for several seconds without any response. The application title bar acknowledges the lengthy wait with the "(not responding)" message there as well. I have looked at system resources and we are not taxing the cpu or memory, the drive is new with very little on it, so its response too is very fast. It appears as though the program is waiting on some event or message before proceeding from every request, but I have no idea what device, event or semaphore it might be waiting on a response to continue. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have not tried it in compatability mode since it states that it should work with win 7.
Thanks,
Mitch

  • I use digital voice editor 3 on my pc..... want to convert to a program for the MAC.  Any suggestions????

    Hi!
Ohhhh how I hope someone out there can help me with this issue!  I use Digital Voice Editor 3 on my pc and would prefer to use my MAC however don't know of any program similar/comparable to DVE 3.
Anyone know of anything out there I can use instead of what I'm using on the pc????
    THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!

The best? A PowerMac (tower). Mainly due to the fact the the iMac isn't expandable. For example, all Macs have one bus for all their Firewire ports; adding a PCI Firewire card to a tower system is cheap and easy and creates a second Firewire bus that helps avoid dropped frame issues when capturing to or recording from an external Firewire drive from your DV device. Can't do that on an iMac though ... no PCI slots.
Also, having the capability of adding a second internal hard drive is something totally lacking in an iMac. If you're editing DV/DVCam/HDV, you'll get much better throughput with a second internal drive that an external drive. And with some kits available, you can have up to 5 SATA drives inside a G5 tower. The capacity for more RAM is a plus also ... I'd reccomend at least 2 gigs minimum ... but you can add more as needed.

  • Does the digital voice editor for ICD-SX57 work with windows 8?

I have recorded a few files on the ICD-SX57. I have installed the DVE software version 3.0
When youplug in the ICD-SX57, you get an error message.
It says "the ICD-SX57 recorder is not accessible. The IC recorder or drive is not ready."
I cannot transfer the files from the ICD-SX57 to my computer. Any ideas? Thanks.

When following the procedure to drag and drop files from the Integrated Chip (IC) recorder to your computer, if the DVE software generates an error message or the software does not react to the transfer request, your software will need to be updated to the current version.
To resolve this issue, download and install any current DVE software updates from our Esupport website here.

Thank you for your post and welcome to the forum.
The ICD-SX750 is compatible with Mac OS X (v10.2.8 onward) and you can drag and drop files and import them into iTunes if required, however the Digital Voice Editor software is Windows only.

  • Fast busy, esp when accessing Voice Mail on FiOS Digital Voice

When we have new messages and call into voice mail and enter passcode, the voicemail guy starts talking and all of the sudden we get the dreaded fast busy.  So then we have to hang up and try again, then get the old "I'm sorry, that account is in use".  So then we have to wait about ten minutes and try again, and this is getting very frustrating.  I called in a trouble ticket for it and nobody seems to have a clue.  In fact, while I was on the phone with tech support I got the fast busy about ten minutes into the call and didn't receive a call back, so I had to call it in all over again!  We just got FiOS back in May.  Before that we had T-Mobile @Home for our home phone, and it was rock solid and trouble-free!  So I expected a fiber optic Verizon home phone to be at least as reliable as a Linksys router with a T-Mobile SIM card in it - but boy was I wrong!  And now that TMO has stopped selling @Home I can't switch back.  Also, the Verizon voicemail is very frustrating to begin with.  The TMO voicemail system lets you listen to your message, then press 7 to delete it after you've heard it.  The VZ voicemail forces you to press 3 to delete the message while it's still playing. Otherwise, after all your messages are done playing, you have to go back and play them over again, deleting them while they are still playing.  I just cannot figure out whey they would design a voicemail system so cumbersome and frustrating.  Not to mention, TMO gave you the option of bypassing the password security when accessing from your home phone.  VZ makes you put the password in every time.  Help!  I'm sure there is someone on these boards that is way smarter than anyone I can get on the phone.  Thanks!

We have been getting the exact same thing for almost a year now... since switching to FiOS Digital Voice in May of last year!  Every time I call in to report it they 'escalate' the issue but it never gets resolved.  The problem seems to be in the initial connection.  Most of the time it works fine but, several times a month, after I call to get messages and it starts to play the new message it goes dead and I get the busy signal.  I get the same message when I call back:  “I’m sorry – that account is in use at this time.  Please try again later!”  I have even called in with my cell phone and get the same message!  I HAVE EVEN used the Internet to see if I could get my messages and, when I hit Play, I get a pop-up saying: “Your Voice Mail box is currently in being accessed; please try again later.  If the problem continues, please contact our Customer Support Center at 1-888-553-1555. We apologize for any inconvenience.”  This is obviously a software bug that Verizon has no clue on how to troubleshoot OR fix!!!  I wonder how many people have the problem and just don’t bother reporting it because of the hassle?  When it first started happening they destroyed my entire mailbox and I had to re-enter the complete mailbox setup again – 3 times!!!  NEVER let them talk you into that!!!  It’s their problem and they need to fix it!!!!!!!  I wish I could go back to the ‘normal’ voicemail we originally had… they want hundred$ to switch back because I’d be breaking my #$@%^&* contract!  Good luck if you have Verizon………

  • FiOS Digital Voice and Internet Reoccurring Problem with Outage at Same Time Every Night

I was hoping someone could help me out or enlighten me as to what may be going on.
I've been having problems the past two nights (5/17 and 5/18) where at 12:45am CST, both the internet and Digital Voice service go out.  The problem with this is that the outage trips our home alarm due to the dropped connection (which scares our child) and disrupts any large downloads (e.g. Steam purchases) that I may have set up to run during the night. After 5-10 minutes, service is restored and works properly.
We haven't had problems of this nature since we switched to digital voice around two months ago, and we tested our alarm system with the provider to ensure it works properly with Digital Voice (it does).
Does anyone know if Verizon has been doing backend updates or something of that nature that would knock service out two nights in a row at the same time?
I haven't received any information indicating there are outages, planned or otherwise, in our area, and the Verizon support staff I contacted, while polite and courteous, did not have an answer for me.  I am hoping that we don't have to endure a third night of this.
    Thanks

To follow up on this, we again had another occurance at 12:45am CST Saturday morning.  Thankfully, though, we did not have another occurance Sunday morning.
However, I still would like to know what the root cause of this problem is.  I've powercycled my ONT (removed power, removed battery backup) per Verizon support's instructions Friday afternoon, but it did not appear to have any impact on the problem at hand.

  • Fios digital voice app no longer working

I have the digital voice service on my home phone, and the android app always worked fine. I have the app installed on a phone and a tablet, and was able to get voice mails, see the call log, etc. .
Starting a few days ago the app would say that I do not have digital voice.I reinstalled the app on my phone, same message. I tried it on the tablet, again the same message. I went to the web site and confirmed that I still have digital voice.
A possibly related issue is that since I merged a business fios internet account with my home TV account, and ported a number over, I have never been able to make any changes using the web page. Whether phone or TV, I get an error message, and it says to call the business office. This happens when i try to order or change a TV box, and also when I tried to order home monitoring stuff. I have been on hold for hours waiting to talk to a rep, but always have to hangup before a live person answers due to having to leave my desk or office. This error message has been present for more than a year, but I have never been able to talk t someone live to get it resolved. The one or two times I did speak to somone, they transfer me somewhere else.

Anybody had any luck on this issue?  I'm obviously not the only one out there that's having the problem.  Verizon live chat/phone customer service has been clueless, and I stopped in at a verizon store last night to see if they could help.  The rep had never seen the issue before, and was unable to provide any assistance, even stating that he wouldn't even know where to start with a problem such as this.  His best suggestion was to try and contact the app developer.  Anybody else out there seen any resolution to this or am I stuck actually plugging my home phone back in and having to ignore the 5767583768694 "nonprofit" telemarketer calls I get daily?

  • I have a digital voice recorder with a 3.5mm mic and headphone jack and want to transfer some recorded lecture to my mac book pro.  The mac book does not have 3.5mm  jacks.  Does anyone know if a jack to USB converter would work?

I have a digital voice recorder with a 3.5mm microphone and headphone jack and want to transfer some recorded lectures to my mac book pro.  The mac book does not have 3.5mm  jacks.  Does anyone know if a jack to USB converter would work?

Is there a pattern to the time of day or other detail that may be
traced back to a OS X system cause of this odd phenomenon?
Are there any copies of system files on any of the attached USB
external drives? Any libraries, such as iTunes, iPhoto, etc?
Once the drives are indexed by Spotlight, are their permissions
ignored by the OS X? Content, if neutral, should not affect the
wake or sleep cycle; especially if they're ignored by the OS X.
Could there be a bad cable or other component? If so that would
be a difficult process of elimination to detect it. Usually replacing
most suspect components in the USB stream (external to Macs)
is a rote way to mechanically test that idea; & not 100% sure.
Does the equipment all have a good ground to the utility or house
electrical field? An intermittent ground may affect more than sleep.
Hard to say at this point. Maybe a late-night talk radio guru on
remote viewing could peer into your situation and sleuth it out?
Sorry to have run out of ideas, but the process must be electrical
& mechanical to some extent. - Or perhaps odd software inspired.
Do you have any phone-home spyware items inside, just jumping
at the chance to spill your information? Little Snitch may help.
PS: Perhaps the computer needs to go into Apple & have a genius
or product specialist at AASP test the unit thoroughly... BlueTooth?

  • Great....upgraded my bundle and was forced into digital voice. Now I've lost my 2nd phone line

I'm beyond frustrated yet again with Verizon and trying to do an upgrade.  I upgraded my bundle and was forced into digital voice. Really didn't care to change my phone but went ahead.   So today I wake up to no 2nd phone line or distinctive ring line.  I've spent 2+ hours on the phone trying to get someone to get my phone line back and I'm so sick of being transferrred, calls dropped, wrong department, etc.  I don't have time for this **bleep**!  Plus...the online chat isn't working either.  I give up!
If there is a tech person out there that can help me get my line back....please tell me who the heck to call without getting a one hour + run around with no help!

  • Signed up for FIOS Digital Voice days ago. Already getting telemarketer calls!!! Did I opt in?????

I switched to FIOS this week. As part of my triple play bundle, I have FIOS Digital Voice.
I signed up online to take advantage of some nice bundle savings.
The install went well and everything is working fine, with one MAJOR exception now:
I am getting several telemarketing calls daily on my FIOS Digital Voice line. I will need a larger timeframe to confirm this is not just typical fluctuating telemarketing call volume, but the fact that I a didn't notice it before porting my home phone number to FIOS implies something is amiss.
    1. My first important question:
When I signed up for FIOS online, I recall a checkbox during the ordering process (at a cost of $10) not to have my number published or listed in some Verizon directory or other type of phone directory (can't recall which it was).
I apparently selected the option to save $10 and thereby have my number published or listed.
Did I, unknowingly (hindsight is 20/20) attract these telemarketing calls that way?
I would appreciate it If someone can shed some light for me on whether that $10 I saved when signing up for FIOS was for opting out of (i.e.. for not signing up) for one of the following [apparent since I don't recall for sure what exactly the checkbox was:
(I recall something to the effect that it said we won't publish your name if you check the box and pay $10 for not publishing you name???]:
Here is the official distinction from FIOS' site:
    Non-Published, Non-Listed, and Additional Listings Non-Published, Non-Listed, and Additional Listings   Non-Published Service
Your name, address, and telephone number are not published in the Verizon Directory White Pages.
Your telephone number is not available from Directory Assistance (411).
    Non-Listed Service
Your name, address, and phone number are not published in the Verizon Directory.
Your telephone number is available from Directory Assistance (411).
Their site notes both of these have a monthly fee.
    http://www22.verizon.com/residentialhelp/generic/phone+generic/phone+product/questions/124388.htm
    Anyway, back to my questions:
    2. Does what I did make a difference anyway (hinges on the response to question 1 and on what it really means since i thought I read somewhere that telemarketers will get numbers even if they aren't officially listed and / or published).
Any feedback from the community on what EXACTLY that checkbox said and what implication it may, or may not, have as far as getting telemarketing calls as a result is concerned would be appreciated.
    Thanks!
EDIT - After posting this, I got a few more telemarketing calls already.
Today alone I am averaging  roughly one telemarketing call every 45 minutes (different telemarketers mostly with a few repeats).
I have had this number for numerous years while under Cablevision's Optimum Voice service and I was getting less than 5% as many telemarketing calls while under Optimum Voice, even though I ported it to Verizon just two days ago!!! As others have noted, this is very frustrating.
The worst part is now there is nothing that can be done by Verizon even if they wanted to since my number is already out there and being passed around!!!
Anyway, I do want to know if the item I checked (or left unchecked) when ordering FIOS online had to do with either opting out of my number being unlisted or unpublished?
I am pretty sure it mentioned something about a directory listing if I did not pay the $10 to opt out, but I don't know if it was unlisted or completely unpublished....
Can someone confirm which it is?

It seems like several / most of them are ADT dealers.
I signed up for the DNC registry last week. Had been avoiding since a) with Optimum Online I rarely got telemarketer calls and b) I heard it could make matters worse, so I didn't bother signing up since I was not experiencing calls at the time.
Too bad Verizon and other telecom firms do not automatically block these calls on their end for consumers who wish to opt out of telemarketing calls.
It would be easy enough to develop a simple database where users could flag numbers.
If a given number is reported several times by different users, Verizon (and other telecommunications firms could the validate that these are telemarketers and block them.
Verizon FIOS Digital Voice's current 10 number block list is not nearly enough, as many others have stated here.
They should increase that to 200 or more if possible (in any case, at least 100) per phone service customer.
I found a post that contains content that I will add to my voicemail announcement. It won't stop robo dialers though.
Ask to be put on their do not call list, ask the person you talk to to verify the number they're DNC'ing. Make a note of this. If they call back, let them know that you informed them on "xx" date you asked to be put on their DNC list, and you'll be keeping track of every call they make to you from here on out and will pursue remedies under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act if the calls don't cease immediately. 47 U.S.C. 227 et seq is where you'll be looking. A lot of consumer protection attorneys will take these cases since each call is at minimum a $500 violation, and if you can show it to be willful, the damages treble to $1500 per call.

  • Dial-up Modem w/Digital Voice

Can a dial-up modem be used with FiOS Digital Voice?  I support a number of remove locations across the country that only have dial-up access (via pcAnywhere).  Thanks.

I wish that someone in the engineering department would come up with a hi capacity battery solution that would make the 8 hour battery last longer to maybe up to a week, because that's when power outages do happen unless it was a major disaster such as tornado, hurricane.  I am very disappointed that FiOS cannot come out with a 4G/FiOS router device that can switch between the 2 services when the power is out.     When I get my USB dial up modem I cannot wait to try it out with another ISP just to make sure I am ready when the power is out during next year's summer weather and these strange storms such as Sandy.
Using the USB dial up @56k modem via digital voice will only last 8 hours which I am going only going to use it for about 3 hours to get get the information I need.  But like I said We need a 4G/FiOS wireless router that switches automatically to 2G/3G/4G/ when the power is out and the router runs on a battery as well and when the power comes back on then it comes back to FiOS.   And we should be able to get a discount and have it part of the bundle.

  • Message Waiting Signal from ONT - Digital Voice

We use an Avaya IP office, that detects the MWI indicator that is being refreshed every 30 minutes from the ONT.  We have voicemail, completely turned off on our Digital Voice service because we prefer to use our own voicemail.  Problem is that even though it's all off - the ONT still does this refresh signal every 30 minutes at about 5 minutes past the hour, and the system thinks it's an incoming call.
Trying to explain this to support is brutal, but based on research, it actually CAN be turned off somewhere in the ONT to stop this refresh signal.  How do I explain this in a service ticket? They don't seem to understand the issue.

Nope, we already did that in the settings on digital voice.  It gets a bit technical here, which is why it's hard to explain in a service ticket.
Check out THIS post in relation to this:
    http://www.tek-tips.com/viewthread.cfm?qid=1701754
Specifically down towards the end where another user quoted this:
"Ok , I have this issue resolved but still requires more data to present to Avaya. Thanks to yankblan for pointing me in the right direction. This is a MWI burst of information. The fibre fed ONT device has a back end(at least with Bell) of Broadsoft as opposed to dms-100. I spoke to our techs in that department and they had run into a similar situation in Quebec. He was able to turn off the MWI indicator. Note that the customer did NOT have voicemail active on the line. The MWI is separate and left on whether or not they have have voicemail. After having it disabled I remained on site and no phantom rings for over an hour. He confirmed that this is standard operation of the Fibre to the business line. The burst occurs every half hour.
Going forward the people in that department will be testing with Our Avaya support group to see what can be done in future releases to stop the Avaya from ringing. Obviously there is an issue here with the Avaya as it only rings on certain releases. If I hear any more info I'll post here."

  • Detailed manual for the Digital Voice Recorder ICD-PX333?

I've found great detailed instruction manuals on line for older Digital Voice Recorders but not for this one.....
I've found a site that makes me search for a word to learn what I want, but I like it the way it was earlier; arranged by chapters and or topics; quite often well over 100 pages at times, depending on the model.
Where is it for the ICD-PX333?

    What a great little machine....
    And what limited documentation.
Here's a no-brainer: Use the manual for the ICD-PX312--as far as I can see, it is the identical unit, with the -333 having 4 gigs memory built in, while the -312 has (only) 2 Gigs.
    http://www.docs.sony.com/release/ICDPX312.pdf  Here is the link.
The -312 has been discontinued, and a buyer should get the -333 instead.
Once again, great machine. I cemented a plastic block to the battery door with a 1/4" tapped hole--this way I can use it on a stand/clamp/tripod...
