Digitally signed email

Is it possible to digitally sign the emails sent by a burst report? Note that I don't mean a .pdf attachment, but the email itself. Any suggestions to solve this if it's not? This has just become a requirement in my organization, and will seriously impact the usefulness of BI Publisher if it can't be solved.

we are using a german product called OLX Tools Disclaimer (http://www.gangl.de/default.asp?redirect=produkte/produkte.asp%3Ffilter=noagents), unfortunatelly I could only find a the webpage in german language. But I'm sure there are a lot of more tools from other companies available in english language. I think searching for Exchange disclaimer will bring you a lot of results.

I suspect you may have a corrupt photo or image that is causing the sync to fail or quit. You might want to try removing all of your photos by deselecting them in iTunes then sync - and try adding them by each sub-folders until you are able to nail down which sub-folder of photos, that causes the sync to stop or gives you errors.

Difficulty with Digitally Signed Email

I have been having trouble downloading and displaying email messages that are digitally signed. I have downloaded the required certificates and imported them onto the Pre, using the methods outlined both here and in the Pre documentation. I have confirmed that they are the correct certificates by importing the certificates into Thunderbird and seeing the verification of the digital signatures there.
The behavior I am seeing is that the messages take forever to load the body and eventually just time out. This is happening for ORC ECA SW3 and DoD Email CA-19 certificates. It may occur for others also, but I have not received signed messages using any other certificates.
Has anyone else seen this behavior, after correctly installing certificates? Are there any work-arounds?

The Exchange server here will send messages to clients under the IMAP protocol with the proper certificates attached. I would not recieve the digital signatures on Thunderbird if the server did not send them. I can view the signature information using Thunderbird without difficulty. These same messages will not load, except for the headers, using the IMAP portion of the WebOS client. Using the EAS portion of the WebOS client, they load both the headers and the body, but do not indicate that they have been signed.
While I am not the IT person for this server, I have run email serves in the past. In addition, the IT people are just a door or two down from me here. I believe the problem is really on your (Palm's) side. Can anyone there confirm that a properly digitally signed email can be fully loaded using the Palm Pre's email client from a conforming IMAP server?
Remember, IMAP is a well defined protocol, and it should conform to rigid guidelines. Therefore, using a conforming IMAP server, you should be able to test the reception of digitally signed emails using the Pre client.

MSCRM Email Router not processing digitally signed emails

In my production environment digitally signed incoming emails are not getting processed and stay there in inbox.
Does Email Router supports Digitally signed emails ?

Thanks Vinay, glad you got it working. We were having some issues and its related to the level of rollup and whether certain headers are allowed through exchange or not.
However MS's answer is that it does not work.

Its annoying as you can track the email manually, but not through the email router at the moment.

Asked to enter PIN multiple times when sending Digitally Signed emails

Hey everyone, I have been having a very difficult time trying to figure out why my co-workers and myself are being asked to enter our PIN multiple times when digitally signing emails. My co-workers are looking to me for a solution, however
I just cannot seem to find any information on as to why this is happening. Could anyone possibly shed some light on why this may be happening? Thanks in advanced!!!

Let's troubleshoot this issue by the following steps:
1. Start Outlook in Safe Mode to determine whether it's 3rd-party add-ins related:
Press Win + R, type "outlook.exe /safe" in the blank box, press Enter.
If no issue in Safe Mode, disable the suspicious add-ins to verify which on caused the problem.
2. Go to Control Panel and search for "Manage computer certificates" then open it, find the certificate and right click on it, choose Properties -> under General tab select "Enable all purposes for this certificate" -> Apply ->
OK.
3. If you create a new Outlook profile, does this issue persist? A new profile will provide a new environment for the account and it will not remove any information from the old profile. A profile corruption may be the source of this issue.

User unable to read attachments from digitally signed emails

I have an Army user with a Blackberry 8830 World Edition, paired with a Bluetooth Smart Card reader. Whenever he tries to open up digitally signed emails, it always requires him to use his CAC card to decrypt the message, whereas with other users, they don't require the same.
As well, when the user has digitally signed emails with attachments, the attachments show up as a garbled mess. He las the latest Bluetooth Smart Card reader drivers, as well as the SMIME package, installed on his Blackberry. Does anybody know of any ideas we could try?

I am not sure if you have received any more information on the issue. I just came across the same issue. I am not completely familiar with this setup but I am going to look into the different settings on the BB device for SMIME and see if I can fix it.
I would be grateful if you have gotten a fix for this and could provide some guidance. I will post resolution if found.

RMSBulk is not unprotecting digitally signed email messages in a pst

The RMSBulk.exe tool is not unprotecting pst messages that are digitally signed. Any recommendations on how to get this to work?
The tool also does not unprotect attachment that are RMS messages (so a protected message attached to a protected message). Is this also by design?

I have problems with the configuration of my digital signature in thunderbird . i m missing something ...
the problem is that when i attach sometghing to the email i m writing (html signature from thunderbird setting or any file ) and sign it with my digital signature , the regived email has an invalid signature because the content was modified . when i send an email without attachems and sign , the signature is valid .
the bublic key is added in certificates in mozila , the root is added , the sent emails without attachment have a valid signature ... so the only problem is the attachment

Problems sending digitally signed emails.

I have installed my certificate to use S/MIME with my Gmail account on my iPhone and I turned on the option to sign all outgoing emails, but the emails aren't being recognized as signed when I send a message. If I look at the email on my Gmail sent items using Gmail's web interface, there is an attachment in the sent mail called smime.p7s but Outlook didn't recognize the email as signed (and didn't show the attachment either), and neither did my iPhone (sending a msg to myself).
Using the same certificate, if I send a message using Outlook on my PC, it works fine.
Anybody had the same problem / know a solution?

Any client that does not support SMIME shows a .p7s file attachment. GMail web interface is one such client that does not support SMIME.
Penango is a cool service that adds a local firefox extension that adds SMIME support to GMail.

Outlook supports SMIME, so between iOS Mail and Outlook SMIME will recognize correctly.

Bug with digitally signed/encrypted emails

Summary:
In Lion, inbound emails that are digitally signed and/or encrypted do not contain any indicators that show that the email is encrypted and that the sender has digitally signed it.
Even worse, if the contents of a digitally signed email have been altered, Mail does not display any warnings that the message has been tampered with.
Steps to Reproduce:
Send an encrypted and digitally signed email. It will be received without any indicators saying it was signed/encrypted. In addition, alter the digitally signed email source with a text editor, and then send the email (using telnet commands) to the mail server. When received, Mail does not warn the user that the email was modified.
Both of these issues were not present in Mail under Snow Leopard
Expected Results:
Digitally signed/encrypted emails should have visual indicators to show it (see screenshot below showing same email in Lion and a different client). In addition, digitally signed emails that were altered must cause mail to warn the user about the tampering.
Actual Results:
Mail does not show that an email is signed/encrypted. Mail does not show that a digitally signed email has been tampered with.
Neither of these two issues were present in the Mail.app in Snow Leopard.
Anyone found a solution....?

Running OS X 10.7.3 Apple Mail version 5.2(1257)
My signature and encryption work fine for both incoming and outgoing e-mail. However there is an odd thing I see with e-mail received from Outlook senders.
The e-mail from Outlook 2007 and 2010 show in my Apple Mail as Encrypted,Encrypted. Not as Signed,Encrypted as one would expect. Also in some cases I do not see anything in the header to indicate that the e-mail is Signed or Encrypted, unless I open the e-mail a second time.
On the second attempt to view the e-mail I then can see in the header Encrypted,Encrypted when from Outlook. I only see this behavior when the Sender is using MS Outlook or Mozilla Thunderbird.
I hope this bug is addressed as soon as possible.

LiveCycle does not handle signed or encrypted emails out of the box.
You could develop a component to do this, or you could get someone to develop it for you.

Digitally Signed and/or Encrypted Emails -- Can't Scan or Search

I work in an environment where we enforce digital signatures and encryption on emails when certain conditions exist in the body of the email (e.g. hyperlinks, attachments, etc.). What we've found, over the years, is that Exchange 2010 doesn't appear
to be able to read the body or attachments on emails that are signed or encrypted. We've found this because Transport rules consitently fail against these emails and Search-Mailbox fails to return results against test emails that have been digtially
signed/encrypted using Body or Attachment keywords as criteria.
Has anyone else run into this, can explain this, or know if there is a workaround/hotfix? I heard from someone that Exchange 2013 fixes this issue but need a resolution for 2010. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

No you're right. The customer keeps coupling the two because of their adjacency in Outlook and I repeated it because I've been hearing it all day. The limitation of encryption is well understood but digitally signed emails are only plain-text
with added s/mime data. However, this latter case still seems to baffle Exchange 2010 -- Transport rules don't act upon rules based on body-content and attachments and Search-Mailbox will not report users' mailboxes as having mail that's searched for
if it's digitally signed.
