Any suggestions for software to use, so that I can finally get started editing? I need to transfer formats I assume first. To what? Is there a particular format that is ideal for Final Cut Express, in terms of looking and sounding the best? Which software to use to do that? And video cleaning, what is the story with that? Is that just setting up final cut right and I won't see the bar anymore? Help would be so appreciated. Jes

I thought I was clear that these were hi-8 tapes that were digitized. They were like ten years old and I am concerned about the order of steps to proceed. Should I worry about the bar on the bottom first and then change formats? Again I am looking to find software to clean up footage. Would really appreciate honest help.

What makes you think you bought a terabyte? There is no such storage available - the maximum is 55GB including the fre GB and this costs $100 per year. A terabyte is a huge amount - 1,000 GB - many hard disks are now available at that size, but not online storage.

Tab Utilities is incompatible with FF17. Many thousands of users are now without a much needed add-on. Is there a fix?

This add-on is an important one to me and tens of thousands of others as well. Sadly this very useful add-on and functionality is now gone from my FF as of 17.. Many people are downgrading or refusing to upgrade solely because it will break this add-on.
In FF17 a major change was made to the function tosource's return value that broke not just this but many other add-ons as well. Now I don't have a problem with a change of standards and requiring everyone to update code to work with that. But this was handled in completely the wrong way by Mozilla IMO.
Where is the support to the add-on community that has loyally supported your product all these years and giving them a proper chance to migrate/change code to work with the new function return values?
Why was there no schedule with a phase-in plan and a deadline for such changes?
Heck, a phase-in plan could have included a phase-in period where the function would support both methods by issuing an extra parameter for the new functionality. Then you could gradually switch the main return to be the new format. That way existing plugins would still be fine.
It seems a bit horrible from an end user standpoint suddenly not having this great tool that improves the firefox experience so much. I know many others feel that same way about this add-on as i've seen countless comments about it, and i'm sure many others feel that way about add-ons that they use that also are now broken too.
I'm writing here to ask either Mozilla to offer a fix, or the larger community to see if there is some workaround/middle ground that could be found. Perchance write a JS Function that could be included/injected into the broken add-ons that would convert/reformat the response of that function call so it remains usable to them with the data they need?
I really hope someone can come up with some temp solution for everyone until more permanent ones can be developed.

16bit? Pixels extending beyond the canvas? (from a crop with delete unused pixels turn off). Have you previously been saving PSD files?
IME you sometimes have to tell Photoshop that the first save of a session is JPG, and it remembers from there on. The way to 'tell' Photoshop that JPG, or PDF, or PNG etc are now your preferred format is to Ctrl (Cmd) click on that format in the Save As drop down list. So long as the file does not have parameters that your chosen format does not support, then this should work for you.
[EDIT] Just noticed that you did include 'Crop' in the subject line. Do you have 'Delete cropped pixels' checked?

Why are my RAW format files no longer supported?

Using a Mac OS X 10.5.8 with versions of Adobe Photoshop CS5, Adobe Bridge CS5 and Camera Raw Plug-in.
Shot .CR2 raw format photos on my Canon EOS 450D (Same as Rebel XSi)
Have always been able to open them successfully in Camera Raw and Photoshop. Now says that the files and/or my camera model/make is not supported by the Camera Raw Plug-in nor by my Photoshop.
Tried converting to DNG first with Adobe DNG Converter 7.1 and even that says that the source folder does not contain any supported camera raw files.
Previous raw files taken with the same camera on the same computer with the same (or even earlier) versions of all these programs have always worked. I can still open those successfully too. However just these new ones I cannot. Nothing has changed about my camera in that time...
What can I do and why is it that these files are no longer supported?

ACR 6.7 and ACR 7.1 RC can open XSi CR2 files at least on Windows 7. I just checked.
However, on Windows, at least, the DNGC 7.1 RC has a quirk in that when you want to convert a folder of CR2s to DNGs, you have to click the Select button when the folder is highlighted in the file selection dialog and the folder listed in the location area of the file selection dialog. You cannot click INTO the folder and then click Select, which sounds like what you are doing. If you do click into the folder and click Select it’ll say there are no compatible files that exist. I think previous versions of the DNGC would recover properly if you clicked into the folder before clicking Select.
Since your files cannot be opened in ACR, either, then perhaps they are corrupted. You might post a download link to one of them in a message here so others can have a look. If you don’t have a large file hosting service, then set up a free account on www.dropbox.com or www.yousendit.com or similar, upload your file, there, then post the public download link, here, in a reply.

These get lost on synchronisation or sometimes end up on a totally different day/date. What can I do as it is very annoying.
Also it altered some theatre dates where I had entered both date and name of play - the name of the play vanished when I synchronised not just on i-pad but it deleted the info from Outlook as well.

Others have the same complaint. iCal on the iPad can do recurring appointments, but not in the format you want (First Tuesday of every Month). It will do the same DATE each month (e.g, the 25th of each month), but for now it does not do a particular DAY of each month.

If you want to play them in iTunes, choose "Convert." This will allow iTunes to create new AAC versions and add those new versions to your iTunes library.
The original WMA files will still be in the folder(s) wherever they currently are. iTunes will ignore the WMAs once it has the converted versions. It is then up to you if you wish to keep or delete your WMA origninals.

Videos on MyIpod are now music!

HI all!
Here I am to tell you about a very strange behaviour in my Ipod.
Suddenly, all previously stored videos has been converted in only music.
Let me be more detailed:
In Itunes, the ipod videos can be played so they are present in the ipod, but if you ask the info, the tag -movie- is not highlighted! The ipod doesn't consider them like movies!
How can I do?
Actually my only solutions is to format everything and re-start again, am I right?

My iPod has done exactly the same thing. What were videos a couple of weeks ago are now only music. Yes, they are defined as music videos, and I open them from "Videos"--music videos on the iPod. They play just fine on the computer, but the iPod thinks they are music only.
What is the solution? Better yet, what is the cause?

Sorry I misinterpreted what it was that you want to do. The following gives the current password requirements: Security and your Apple ID - Apple Support
There isn't any way to have a 6 digit numerical password -- as you already found. With the amount of password hacking going on currently, I suspect that if you were able to change it back you would be putting your account at a significant risk. You are being forced, but I think Apple is doing that with good intentions and that it is in your interest. You can complain (provide feedback) at https://www.apple.com/feedback/icloud.html

Files creation time on digital camera's SD is now offset with timezone

Been checking out the photos I've took with a digital camera by taking the SD card and mounting it in current (all up to date) Arch. It was weird to see that the latest photos are shown as being in the future. Basically the camera don't know about time zones, and creates files at the date/time I set (based on local time). On the other hand, Arch suddenly interprets that date/time as UTC while I'm actually in UTC+8 - so all the photos appear 8 hours in the future compared to when they were actually taken.
This is caused by some new change, though not sure how recently. I still have pictures on my SD card from April that I can compare to their copies made on the hard drive. The files on my hard drive (copied from the same card in April) have correct time (are in localtime). Same ones on the SD card are now 8 hours off when I mount now and check them....
Here's an example, highlighted one of the file on the SD card (left) and on the hard drive copied a few months ago (right). Same file, different interpreted time.

Similarly for all the subsequent files in the directory as well.
This is very strange to me, what setting or software can cause such a time error?

I just couldn't stop %) Made it keep all the options provided by user, not replace them. Much more code now.

So this is follow up from my debarkle with the EDD. I found out my problem with copying files from Mac to EDD and vice versa was a result of a not so good EDD ( i had an apollo hard drive from imation) that was not very compatible with macs. So i did my research and found out that the best hard drives were Western Digital and Seagate. I bought the newest western digital EDD 1TB and formated it to FAT32 and guess what...no problems so far. The only problem is that FAT32 format doesn't copy files larger than about 4 gigs so i couldnt copy a movie from my brothers computer onto my EDD that was 1080p. You could probably resolve that by partitioning a small part of your hard drive in ExFAT? but yeah, hopefully that helped guys.

I recently upgraded to Office 365 Home Premium and at the same time changed my email protocol from POP3 to IMAP4.
I've now noticed that my Outlook data files stored at C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook are in .ost format.
I use the Calendar in my Microsoft Account as my main Calendar but I store some of my Contacts locally - which .ost file will they be held in and how can I recover them if anything goes wrong?

A simple way to know which data file the Contacts are stored in, is to right click on the Contacts folder, click
Properties. Under General tab, find the
Location of it.
We can export the contacts to a .pst file to back up them, for the detailed steps, please refer to this link below and read the information under

In addition, if the email account you are using is an Microsoft Account, I suggest you choose Exchange ActiveSync instead of IMAP. Thus all the contacts are synced between your Outlook Client and the server, Calendars of the account will automatically be

This article can help you find out if there are any conflicts between your copy of Windows XP and iTunes, and can tell you what to do if there are. Before going down the troubleshooting route though, you should take a look at this article, which can help you back up your entire iTunes library to an external hard drive, so if this issue is recurring, you will be able to restore from that backup and will not have to worry about losing your playlists or music again:
