DigiVox A/D - Cannot render audio capture

Hello, i have DigiVOX A/D. I configured it and I can watch TV. But when I try to capture it, there is a "Cannot render audio capture" message. I tried a lot of parameters changes but nothing helped. Can you please help?
Juso

So I did some more testing. Now it works this way:
I can watch TV and it works OK. When I click capture it doesn't work and it writes error message "Cannot render audio capture". I go to settings and setup to capture only audio. I try to capture. I do some more modifications. It still doesn't work. But on some point of configuration (I could't find exaxtly when) the sound stops during watching. And if I try to capture at that time, it captures OK with audio and video. It doesn't matter whether I use Mpeg 2 or Mpeg 4. Both works. So I think codecs are OK. And it works so (no audio during watching and good audio and video during capture) till I close the application. When I start it again, there is sound when watching and error when clicking capture button. And again I can do some settings modification (random) and after some config steps it start capture but stops audio while watching.

  • Cannot render audio fade and/or transition and/or title

I am at my wits end and ready to blow up the computer on this one.
    I have about a dozen
DV-AVI clips, captured from a Sony camcorder via Firewire.  I am editing them into 7 scenes.  I tried this with the first two scenes and I did a test Burn to File, viewed the VOB in Windows Media Player and all worked well.  I then added 5 more scenes, all with the same transition recipe between scenes, did another Burn to File and found that past the first two scenes, everything was black.  WMP showed video playing, but it was just solid black past the first two scenes.
I scoured the forum looking for clues and hours later I have absolutely no idea what is going on.   Here are my specs and what I have tried.  I also attached a screen shot showing the 3 areas on my timeline that show different states of rendering (or non-rendering).
Computer specs: PreE8, Win7 64bit, intel i7, ATI card, 6 GB RAM, 400+GB free HD
DV-AVI clips, some with the In and Out points trimmed a few seconds.
I added to each clip Audio Fade In and Fade Out.
Between each clip is the following: Dip to Black, Title, Dip to Black
I added a Menu Marker to each title.  They all appear on the menu as they should.
    Background rendering is OFF.
I am still new to PreE so I still don't quite understand the whole rendering thing.  But as near as I can tell, that is the heart of the problem, but I cannot for the life of me see how to fix it.  As seen on my screen shot, the first two transions are rendered green.  Now skip ahead to the fourth transition and it is red.  Zooming in, the red goes from the start of the audio fade out of the previous clip, through the title, then stops at the start of the next clip.  So I thought it is a transition, the title, menu marker or the audio fade out causing a problem.  however, even when I removed ALL these elements from between and on the 2nd and 3rd clips (the third transition) it is STILL red!  And yes I am pressing the Enter key to render.  There are no effects, keyframes, or anything on the adjacent clips and it won't render.  The only thing I noticed is now the unrendered part is the first 4 seconds of the later clip.
Why on earth do the first two transitions work, but the rest won't?  Why won't it render after I removed everything except the plain DV-AVI clips?

Thanks Hunt for all your help, information and encouragement.  I have been able to return to my project (I saved the original with no changes) and was able to adjust the Work Area, Render and Burn to Folder (VOB).  When I tested the VOB, everything worked great!  So that was the problem.  Hurrah!
FYI--in PreE 8, the Burn to Folder option does NOT have a "Export Work Area" button, BUT the Share to Computer (mpeg) DOES, so that is something good to know.  Obviously the Burn to Folder option in PrE 8 defaults to burning the Work Area.  For my small project, the Work Area concept is not a necessary feature, but I can see how  for larger more complicated projects it is a good way to manage resources.
Now that I have had some time away and a couple glasses of wine :-) I can be more positive about what I learned.  In my travails,  I learned a lot about rendering, keyframes, the work area,  stumbled across a way to easily search only the Premiere Elements subforum, and a lot about stop markers (which seems to cause some black-screen problems when too near to menu markers).  So it was not a complete waste of time.  Oh yeah, and thanks for the compliment on my post info.  In my forum travels,  I also learned what information is asked for over and over to get more directly to an answer and just put it in the first go-round. And it paid off!
Well, back to the shop.  My husband thinks I am crazy for using this aggravating software (I used to use Windows Movie Maker) but I keep telling him, PreE 8 is like a Ferrari.  The problem is that it is temperamental and often broken down in the shop causing a lot of frustration.   But when it runs well, it is oh such a sweet thrill, so slick and powerful, that I just can't give it up and go back to the Honda.

  • Cannot capture video frm PD170 - now says Audio Capture Only Selected??

So I now can't capture video?? It says before you attempt to do so that it's Audio Capture Only Selecteed / Video Preview Disabled.
And I have been thru everything to figure how to unselect this option - and cant find anything??
    Can anyone help?
    Many thanks!!

    Thanks for your replies.
I have the Device Control and Capture presets set to PAL. Is there any other PAL settings I need to set at this stage?
The 25fps vs. 24fps was confusing me as well. I was told that was the camera that was used, and set to 24fps, and when I step through the tape frame by frame, it appears that it is 24fps. Does that make any sense? Perhaps this is another thing to complicate the whole situation. I've tried multiple variants of capture presets. PAL, NTSC, 24fps, 29, 25, all giving me the same "Preview disabled."
    Any ideas?
    Thank you!

  • Audio capture scratch for iTunes import/48kHz convert

Working in first FCE HD project. I want to import an additional music track from iTunes. Following the manual's instructions for converting iTunes files to 48 kHz for import, it says to "navigate to the project's audio media folder". In the external hard drive's doc folder it shows all the necessary folders there except Audio Capture Scratch ( which was default checked and unselectable in Settings prior to the initial video/audio capture of existing commercials, etc. from a deck).
Apparently setting up this Audio Capture Scratch as a destination that shows in the FCE docs window must be done after the initial set-up. (?) If so, I can't find how to do it. According to what I've been reading, though, the Audio Capture Scratch should already be among the 7 folders (Capture scratch, Render files, Audio render files, etc.) but it's the only one missing. Is this even related? Can audio be imported directly to the project as opposed to the ext. drive?
Question is... Should that in fact be the destination folder? Or do I need to create an "audio media folder" for this project? If so, how? I've not found anything in FCE Help or the Brenneis manual.
Thanks for any help on what must be a basic conceptual hole in my limited mental model.

You can import audio files into FCE from any location
on any HD. The audio file itself could be in your
iTunes music folder but if so, I suggest making a
duplicate copy of the song file in some other folder
(your choice, your location, your folder name) to
minimize the risk of accidently messing up something
    in your iTunes music folder.
You could even drag a copy of the file from the
Finder into the FCE Browser. Once it's in the FCE
Browser, you can drag the music file onto one of your
    audio tracks.
The ideal format is AIFF, 16-bit, stereo, 48Khz.
Truly thanks for that. But... In order to convert the iTunes file to the above, I have to go to the iTunes Pref. window and the folder location field, click the Change button and navigate to the "project's audio media folder"... But I don't have, can't find or don't know how to make that folder. So I can't specify the destination. I'd love to drag/drop, but the format won't be AIFF, 16 bit 48kHz.
When I read the manuals instruction for importing directly from a CD, it also says to drag the files into my "project's audio media folder", so I'm back to the same problem. I guess I could try dragging from the CD directly to my browser, and I will, but even if that works for now, I need to understand what/where/how to create the audio media folder, as I fear I'm missing a basic understanding here.
And why is there no Audio Capture Scratch folder showing in the FCE doc folder? Even if this unrelated and irrelevant, I'm still puzzled about that. I'd appreciate any clues here. Thanks again.

  • Audio captured disabled

Okay, I'm new to this so take it easy on me.
I am working with FCE-HD 3.5, and I have an older camcorder Panasonic PV-DV4000 and I'm using the DV-NTSC easy setup. The capture features were working fine, but (and I don't know what changed) now I cannot capture audio from my camcorder. When I look in the System Settings - Scratch Disks - the audio capture click box is checked but it is disabled. Can anyone help me with this? Thanks in advance.

Hi Patty. I was researching this forum to find postings on exactly this same issue. I found a related post under the topic "Audio Only Capture problem". (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=616689&tstart=165)
In that topic, Ian gives a link to a solution doc that seemed to fix the issue by Trashing a few FCE preference files:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93690
The solution above is catered to FCE 2.0. Though I'm using FCE 3.5, I was able to extract what I needed, it fixed the issue I was having.

  • Configuring Audio Capture

I am trying to sample the microphone using a recordStream. How do I control the rate, bits, unsigned, etc...
    If I use:
    p = Manager.createPlayer("capture://audio");
Under Ktools everything slows to a trickle and takes about 5 seconds to record 20 miiliseconds worth of data, then i get aboput 80,000 bytes of data that appears to be 16 bits
    in the Manager class description
    http://www.cs.kent.ac.uk/teaching/03/modules/CO/6/25/doc/LOC/MMA/javax/microedition/media/Manager.html
it says I can do things like:
    Manager.createPlayer("capture://audio?bits=8");
When I do this I get a MediaException:
Cannot create a DataSource for: capture://audio?bits=8
How can I control the sample rate, # of bits etc...?
    Thank You

You can try to use "capture://audio?encoding=pcm&rate=8000&bits=8&channels=1" if it can't work, means that your system doesn't support 8bit audio. You should down the program into real phone and try again. If you want to minimize the audio size, you should use "encoding=gsm", but some phone does't support gsm audio capture!

  • Weird Audio Capture

Lately I've had trouble with DV audio capturing from our camcorder. Instead of 48 kHz, the audio will be something like 48,010.4 Hz. This happens most often on long captures (half hour or more). This is a major pain, because the fix is to render the clip on a 48 kHz timeline, then export it.
Any ideas what the problem could be and how to fix it?
    Thanks, gurus.

There have been a number of instances reported here (on the forum) of Sony and Canon cameras with audio drifting.
    The only real solutions are:
    1. Capture in short (5-10 min) segments to minimize the drift effect (Jim's suggestion)
    2. Re-conform the audio after capture (what you are doing)
    3. Try a different camera that works in DVCAM format. DVCAM locks the audio and video together - so no drift.
    Good luck.

  • "Hardware Cannot Render"  Message!!  ProRes footage.

    Hi all,
I have a brand new G5 2 x 2.26 Quad; 12Gb Ram, and 2 graphics cards (ATI Radeo HD 4870 & NVIDIA GeForce GT120) And have just recently changed from capturing/editing HDV, to ProRes.
When editing HDV I was able to process some effects no problem, but now I am getting this Render Error message - The canvas goes completely red and message says "...The Effect "***" failed to render: Your Hardware cannot render at the requested size and depth!!"
I've tried a google search on this problem, and came across someone saying to change the 'Video Processing' tab to have "Render in 8-bit YUV" option. I did have it set to "render 10-bit YUV material in High Precision YUV" Gave that a go, and it didn't work. Have also come across someone saying that having 2 graphics card might be causing the trouble, and to take one out - but don't want to do that unless it's really necessary.
Can anyone help me clairfy what the problem is and if I can sort it?
    Thanks

    Hi Shane,
I don't mean to question you guys as you are undoubtedly far superior in knowledge to how this works - but I find this really hard to believe, after all, this G5 tower is only 1 month old, and I've got the only 2 graphics cards that mac currently sell on the site :
    ATI Radeon HD 4870
    NVIDIA GeForce GT 120
If anything, I would have thought that it could process my footage NO PROBLEM!
I hope I don't sound too cheeky in my response - as I say - I bow to your superior knowledge.
The filter in motion worked Tom, although I had to render the clip and it gone a bit sluggish (That may be to do with setting up as HDV in Motion and dragging into a Prores timeline?)

  • NO audio capture when importing imovie to FCE

I am following the Apple tutorials to get me started on FCE, but have fallen down at the 1st hurdle.
When I import a saved XML file from imovie into FCE there is no audio capture.
I am getting the video/clip audio but I have added music from itunes to my imovie's as well and nothing seems to be coming across I just get a red line across the top of the clips and a bleeping noise.
    Anyone have any ideas?.
    Thanks

    Hi there,
This "red line" and "bleeping noise" are generally signs that the audio does not match your sequence within FCE. FCE can only edit natively AIFF files at either 48kHz or 32kHz. Music from iTunes is not AIFF, so FCE needs to render out the audio to play it.
    So here's what I'd do:
    1. Click Option-R to render everything out. Chances are this may solve your problem.
    2. If this doesn't help, it may be because it is iTunes music and FCE doesn't let you use copyrighted material. For a way around this issue, look over this link:
    http://fcpbook.com/Audio4.html

  • Can't render audio!

I cannot render any music tracks in the timeline. I keep getting the file error, access denied pop up. I am not using DMR protected music at all. If I must convert to aiff, how must I do so?

Audio clips to be used for editing in FCE need to be converted to AIFF, 48khz, 16bit. You should be able to use iTunes to do the conversion. Alternatively, QuickTime Pro, Compressor, Sorenson Squeeze, SoundTrack Pro and many other available applications can also handle the task. Convert the files PRIOR to importing into FCE.

  • Stuck in audio capture only

Sorry, this is urgent, no time to search. Somehow going into capture mode, "audio capture only" got selected. I don't know how to deselect and cannot find anything in Help. How do I get back to capturing Video and audio?
    Using FCE 3.5.1

Dumping the final cut express plist preferences did not work. What did work was dumping all user prefernces related to FCE.

  • MS 8606 Audio Capture can't start

Have MSI TV@nywhere Master.  The audio capture driver didn't install automatically from the cd.  I tried forcing the driver to install and now it says:
This device cannot start. (Code 10)
Any suggestions or ideas to help??
    Athlon 2600
    soyo kt400 ultra
    ati 9800 pro
    soundblaster audigy

AVI_IO is a VFW program the TV@nywhere Master is a WMD device. The frame size you are getting from AVI_IO is not an unusual occurance with some TV cards. I can not get VirtualDub to capture over 352x288 PAL although some others brands of TV card can. I have not been able to get AVI_IO to work at all on my WinXP system so I guess that you are not using WinXP.
The fact that you are able to capture using AVI_IO would suggest that the card is OK and that your system is possibly at fault. I did have problems on my first install and the audio drivers did not install but once manually installed they have been no problems from them.
Have you tried clearing out all the TV card drivers and software (I mean manually removing all traces) and re-installing?
Perhaps try moving the card to another slot or just reseating it, and/or remove the drivers via device manager and reboot the PC and let the OS find them again.
Perhaps it may be time to do a clean install of the OS?
I found it nessecary to do it at least every 12 months and sometime much sooner when I was using any other OS before WinXP. It will certainly cancel out any possiblity that it is your system at fault.

  • Problems with Roxio Spin Doctor audio capture

I recently purchased Roxio Toast Titanium 10, which includes Spin Doctor 6 (version 5.0.4). I am trying to use it to capture audio streaming as described in the Spin Doctor User Guide, but continue to have problems. I have repeatedly contacted Roxio with little success. Most recently they had me provide a copy of my System Profiler file and "escalated" the issue. Only result was that I was told to uninstall and reinstall Toast 10. I did that but the problems persist. Here's my report back to Roxio, which explains the problem. I'm wondering if anyone here has encountered this problem or has suggestions on how to proceed.
Bottom line is that I cannot capture streamed audio, as Spin Doctor documentation says I should. I'm guessing this has something to do with the Audio Capture Support program within Spin Doctor, but I can't find out what's wrong.
Here's the description I provided Roxio: +I uninstalled the software and re-installed it per your instructions. Once in Spin Doctor I also installed Audio Capture Support, closed Spin Doctor, and re-opened it. The Start Auto Music Capture button was active. Following the instructions in your Spin Doctor User Guide (page 22) I went selected "start a new recording" and selected various parameters. CDSD Audio Capture was one of the input options. I clicked on the "start" button and immediately got an error message. After that the Auto Music Capture button was no longer active and CDSD audio capture was no longer one of the input options.+

UPDATE: I again uninstalled everything and reinstalled. I did not install the Auto Capture Support feature in Spin Doctor. I was able to successfully record from an internet stream, saved it, and then started another recording. After the second recording I quit Spin Doctor and re-opened it. Now I have the same problem as before: the Auto Capture button does not work and CDSD is not an input option. Back to the same situation as before. I tried quitting both Toast and Spin Doctor and re-opening them but it didn't make a difference.

  • Transitions do not render Audio / no audio while importing from cam / etc.

hi - i still have problems with the latest iMovie HD 6.0.2. (267) on my brandnew 17" iMac (Intel) 1-GB-RAM, (QT WITHOUT any 3rd-party-SW)
    1. the build-in transitions (soft/smooth, overlay) dont render the AUDIO-file.
it takes NO effect (only the images do)
    2. by importing clips from the camera i cannot hear AUDIO the same time
(by replaying the importet clip audio is available/imported)
    3. the sharpening filter can't show a preview - the effect/s will only appear AFTER rendering.
    any idea?
    Mike

As others have noted, the audiolevels are as they are when you record. If you need good audio on your video, you need to make sure the levels are ok while you record!
That is, not to low, and not clipping.
On most pro setups, the audio is controlled by a seperate person, or you have mics with microports on the speaking person(s) that are adjusted before the actual recording starts.
Too low audio tend to give a lot of noise, and to high audio make clippings when digitized, making distortions.

  • Merging and saving audio capture + file from disk

    Hi,
I need to combine an audio file (read from disk) with an audio capture from a microphone and save the combined audio to a file.
I created processors for both, merged the data sources and created a processor from the merged data source.
If I use that as an input to a player, it seems to play OK : I hear the combination of the audio file and the microphone over the speakers (albeit with a delay of the microphone input).
But when I try to save this merged processor's data source (I tried 2 different ways based on samples I found) I get the following exceptions respectively

Any idea what needs to be changed for this to work?

Now that you've got as far as doing GUIs, you must learn to read the API. Here/s a link.
Is it something like: out.textBox.text() ??
Not quite. In fact, not at all. The syntax implies that out has a member textBox which in turn has a method text. That's pretty far removed from reality, isn't it?
From the code you posted, you apparently know that out.println(...) takes a String parameter. Now go look up the API and find a method of JTextField that returns a String, that Returns the text contained in this TextComponent.
    ^Hint: it's a method inherited from JTextComponent^
Get the text from the JTextField and pass it as a parameter to out.println. That's all there is to it.

Blasted multiposter didn't have the decency to indicate here that the immediate problem was resolved, just went ahead and started a [new thread|http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5282987].
