Dim function in template layers

After creating a template layer and making sure 'dim 50% was selected' no dimming occured in the placed template image. How do you get this function to be active ni CS 6? It always worked in CS5. I have searched the help files and groups and found no documentation on this. Thanks for any assistance.

You can also try selecting "Link" checkbox while placing as a template layer, as shown below:
Image placed with Link option checked, will be placed as dim.

Dim function keys not working

My backlight function keys don't always work. More often than not, they don't work, they simply do nothing. Moreover, if I try to manually change a setting in the power options, it doesn't change anything.
I contacted HP via the online chat support, but they were less than helpful. The chat support agent I talked to clearly didn't know what they were doing. They suggested I reinstall all the ACPI drivers, update BIOS and update my video card driver....My ACPI drivers are all reinstalled recently (and really only one of them should matter), the BIOS was updated a week ago and my video card drivers are up to date according to device manager.
The worst part of my experience is yet to come. The technician doubted my information and didn't want to trust that I knew what I was talking about, because they wanted me to open up things like msinfo32 and check my BIOS was up-to-date. Is it too much that I know something (I'm currently in a CS major so I know what I'm doing).
They finally suggested I reformat the laptop (I have an HP Envy 17). I don't want to reformat and I don't know what else exactly to do. This isn't the first time chat support has been unsatisfactory but I know the keys sometimes work, suggesting the keys aren't broken and the software isn't completely messed up either. I am sure I don't need to reformat so here I am asking for some help.

Answer for Lost Dim & Brightness not working is simple and was found online.
Go to the device manager - Right click Computer, Select Manage or Properties, Click Device manager.
Click and open Monitor
Double Click and open Generic PNP Monitor
Select Driver Tab and uninstall "Generic PNP Momitor" Driver
At the top of the Device Manager click Action Menu an select Scan for Hardware changes.
A new Driver for the monitor will be installed.
On my HP DV-7 it returned the Dim function and the F 7 & 8 brightness function to the keyboard.
It also returned the missing brightness setting to the Display settings found in the Control Panel.
For some reason the Monitor Driver when removed and installed will fix the Brightness & Dim features.

NVL Function and Truncate Function in Template Builder

Hi Guys,
How would I use NVL function and Truncate function in the Word Template Builder.
These functions do not work in the Query Builder when i use SQL Query as the Dataset while creating a report.
I could not find examples in the Publisher Guide either.

How can you not use the functions in your query? Does the builder return an error? ow about just pasting your query into the report definition does the nvl/trunc work then ?

Create function in template

Hi,
Because of the limitation of the form field help text I've tried to put my function in parts into many form fields, but it always brings me an error. When i put it into a XSL file and import it, it's working fine. How do I create my function in the RTF template???

Eraser just stopped functioning in Adjustment Layers?

I frequently use the Eraser tool to selectively modify adjustment layers, mostly Curves layers in Screen mode with low opacity & many strokes. Worked fine yesterday, today no response from Eraser or dodge/burn at any opacity in the layer though Paint & Clone still function normally. All these tools still work on the Background image. I have checked all settings that I can for abnormal values or anything that I may have changed without noticing but nothing detected. Any suggestions please?

Okay, next thing to try: resetting the Photoshop preference file: Hold Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Opt+Shift as you initiate Photoshop's startup. Select "yes" when asked if you would like to continue with reset.
Edit: just a FYI, you can use a layer mask and the brush tool as opposed to the eraser. It's a much, much less destructive method.

Template layers?

I want to import a image to use as a template that will have guides on it for the trim and bleed, etc.
1. Should this just be imported as a layer, and after completing the project, just delete the template file when saving it as a .pdf or is there another way to work with templates in PS CS5?

What if I just create a file that is a image and creates lines using shape tools or whatever that will represent the guides, and I can also put in notes and have someone else just design on top of this layer on other layers and delete this layer that I created at the end. I'm guessing there would be no issues with doing that, right?

EhP 5 New function, sharing template of Purchase Request or Purchase Order

From SAP ERP MM EhP 5, we can create, save and load " template " of Purchase Request or Purchase Order.
This is discribed on SAP release note of EhP 5 "LOG_MM_CI_3: Public Templates in Purchase Orders and Requisitions".
Does someone know whether this public document template is shared cross company codes, cross clients?

Cannot Use Rollover Functions With Templates

I'm surprised that you do not hear anything about this, but
if you create a template in Dreamweaver 8, your buttons will work
but you cannot use rollover effects. That stinks! Does anyone know
of a hack, plug in, etc. to get around this bug? It seems like i
always find the bugs for some reason.

SunStudio 12 Fails to compile template function with template argument

Make sure that you compile and link with -library=stlport4, otherwise you will be limited in the Boost libraries that you will be able to use.

Maximum, Count Distinct functions in Template.

I have a dataset which I was trying to group for a report.
I need in report in such a way that, I have to list product code in one column and Max(Sub-product Code) in another column product code,Sub Product code are strings and not Numbers.
Suppose my data set has

I need in report
abc|1a

I grouped it and I was trying to show Max(subproduct code) of current group. But it was giving me numer instead of text. I tried to select "text" for the form field. But it is automatically chaging to Number.
Also, Can you let me know how to write the count(distinct subproduct code) . I also,need to add this column.
I cannot add them in the SQL because, there are tons of templates on this dataset. I have to do it in template.
Any help is greately appreciated.

Try using this: <?count(xdoxslt:distinct_values(field_name))?> -- substitute your sub product code field name

Working with Templates/Layers in PSE9

Hi
This used to work for me so not sure why it isn't now.
I open a template and open all of the elements to go with it (photos, papers etc). Then when I select the photo layer>drag the photo onto the layer>hit Command G - I can't then move the photo. Instead it creates another box and on the style menu above I have to select the red x or green tick. In the past, once I hit Command G I could move, resize the photo etc. Now I can't seem to do anything.
Any help would be appreciated.

Sorry, but the reason you haven't gotten any responses is that it's enormously hard to understand your post. What templates? From where? For what purpose.
Command+G has nothing to do with moving files--it's the shortcut for making a clipping mask.

Template layered above content

It would be helpful if a template page as a whole or partially could be layerd above the content of a web page.
e.g. http://www.kohenderiks.nl/sales-rapportage.html
When changes (as I had recently) have to be made in the template I had to changes more pages separately, because the content disappears under the top of the page when scrolling.
I hope my issue is clearly described. If not, please let me know and I'll see if I can do better :-)

You can do this in Muse already. You place the content from the Master page (or whatever page your on) on a layer above the other content.

Using AGG/CALC DIM function in the BSO target cube of Transparent Partition

Hi,
Is it possible to use AGG("dimension") on a dimnesion in the BSO cube that is a target cube for a BSO-BSO Transparent Partition/
I have created the partition area with 3 dimensions, one being 'Source'. 90% of the source members are being refrenced from source to target via that transparent partition. But I still have the 10% Source members in the target cube that need to roll up to the 'Source"(along with the 90%) for correct aggregation.
When I try to use AGG("Source") in a FIX statement that's within the partition area, I get the following error:
Error: 1042013 Network error [10054]: Cannot Receive Data
Error: 1042012 Network error [10054]: Cannot Send Data
Can I not aggregate the dimension in the Target cube?

I try to create transparent pertition between BSO (as a source) and ASO (target) and have the same warning message.
Just to eliminate possible effect of outline complexity I created very simple DBs with the following outlines:

In addition to the message I have the following behavior - ASO has data in "Actual" scenario, BSO has data in "Adjustment" scenario. Before partition definition I can see the data in the right places, but when the partition created, Actual data disapeared from report of ASO. It is still in the database, and when the partition removed - appears again.
Any ideas?

Script to Batch adding a layered template to multiple layered psds?

I have several hundred numerically named layered psds that I need to add a layered psd template on top of. Both are the same size and will line up if I could just somehow automate the process.
This seems like something there should be an existing solution for, but I'm having an awful time trying to figure it out and I haven't found a script. I'm hoping a script already exists and I just haven't stumbled into the right keywords to find it.
Is there some way to set up an action to import the layered psd? Perhaps split up the template layers and import images into each and recreate the layered psd?
I'm running CS5.
