Dimension sizes

Hello,
Do you know a way to import into InDesign technical drawings with dimensions (vectors) and to ensure that dimensions have the same size throughout the catalog despite resizing designs ? A kind of dynamic adjustment of sizes, perhaps based on a character style.
Thank you .
Sorry -> French to English translation.

but i work with some dims that are 80 to 90 percent the size of fact table
create line item dims for those that are exceeding in value hope that helps

  • Dimension size docment size resolution

    Use the picture on website.
Really no idea with Resolution, Document Size, Dimension Size and Fit Image Function.
Use on Website, don't need to care the Document Size, right?
Changing with Resolution Size and Resolution, some time, the Resolution is about 100 but the dimension Size is very high about 2500 to 3000 pixels.
Change the Dimension Size will change the Resolution very very small in this case.
Fit image can fix the size shows in the website site?

When you use Photoshop to do things resolution matters. So when adding watermaks to different siz images it can be tricky to handle size.  You will see that  in my sample watermarking action.

how we will know that dimension size is more than the fact table size?

    Hi,
Let us assume that we are going to take Division and distribution channel in a dimension and assume we have 20 distinct values for Division in R/3 and 30 Distinct values for Distribution channel .So Maximum, we can get 20 * 30 records in dimension table and we can take rough estimation of records in the cube by observing the raw data in source system.

  • Dimension size in LR4 with custom ratio

    Good day,
I am still stuck with dimension size in LR4. If I would like to crop a picture to a certain dimension.
I need to have my pictures cropped to 4600 x 3000 - so what I am doing is I enter the dimension in custom ratio, then in export I choose image file and enter 4600 x 3000 in dimension size. and then - my picture turns out with 4600 x 2990?
    what am I doing wrong?
I have managed to get the right size before but for the love of god I can just not remember what I did different then...
any help will be very much appreciated.
    thanks
    Sandy

My LR 4.4.1 image was 3872 x 2592 uncropped, and 3872 x 2525 after applying the 4.6 : 3 aspect ratio. This makes no sense unless you're using LR4.4.0 and something changed in LR 4.4.1.
    richardplondon wrote:
I'm still not sure about the rounding issues Richard mentions, what if anything has changed, and in what version. We also haven't been able to duplicate the OP's results (4600 x 2990). Perhaps the OP could post an image file to a download site that produces the 3872 x 2592 output and we can test it.
The truncating of an aspect ratio to 2 places, would fit with this number - and I can't think of any other mechanism that does so.
With the same image above in 5.2RC, if you enter 1 and 0.65 into the custom boxes, then LR displays the resulting aspect ration as "1.538 x 1" and the resulting crop is 3204 x 4928 instead of 3214 x 4928. The resulting export when requesting 3000x4600, is 2991x4600 (we clearly still have some imprecision about that final pixel, and probably always will).
The displayed crop value is to 3 decimal places with entry values ranging from 10000 to 0.001 allowed. Precision should be at least to the displayed values or why bother displaying them, correct?
If I use the same example with LR4.4.1 with a crop value of 1 x 0.65 I get 1.538 x 1 same as yours. Now let's try a few other examples with LR4.4.1:
    1538.90 x 1000 = 15.389 x 10
    1538.49 x 1000 = 15.385 x 10
    1538.44 x 1000 = 15.385 x 10 (INCORRECT)
Next I entered five (5) new custom ratios, which is the only way to clear out the custom 15.385 x10 crop ratio. Next I tried entering the same custom crop value again:
    1538.44 x 1000 = 15.384 x 10 (Now CORRECT)
So clearly the calculated precision is to three decimal places. The problem is that the replacement algorithm is only using two decimal places. If the new ratio has the same value as an exisitng custom ratio to two decimal places. then it uses that value and does not create a new custom ratio with the correct value.
    ...and that answers this question:
    richardplondon wrote:
I don't know whether it is possible to clear previously entered custom aspect ratios, other than by sledgehammer methods, but the way that prior entries do reappear, indicates to me some kind of background behavior going on. This may be confusng the troubleshooting of the issue, since different people will have different histories of earlier custom ratios, present in their computers.
No matter how you slice-it or dice-it this is a bug in the algorithm used for calculating the custom crop!
It looks like there is a similar problem in LR5 with the Export module Image Sizing algorithm:

  • Dimension size more than 50%

    Hi Gurus,
May I know what are the issues, we will face, if the size of the Dimension table is more than 25%?
In what way it will affect the performance?
    Thanks in advance..

    Hi,
if you focus on query performance (which is at the end what the users will appreciate the most) then be very cautious when flagging a dimension as line item...
As per my experience the 20% as threshold to flag a dim as line item is too low; I flag it when its cardinality is more than 70 even 80% and if I can afford it!
Indeed when having many characteristics it is sometimes very expensive to use only one dim for one charateristic!
It all depends on your data distribution and how your organize the characteristics in your dimensions. You cannot take for granted that if you are loading billing documents and post the billing document number in your cube "you should put the doc num in a line item dimension"... Simply because in my case, billing documents have in average more 50 items...
You should first try to analyze where is you system spending the most of your 10 minutes...
    - could an additional index on one of the dimension table help?
    - is your report using navigational attributes? perhaps an aditional index on the X table and/or P table could help a lot...
    - do you collapse your cube?
    - do you use aggregates?
    - are all the indexes created and regenerated from time to time (avoid degenerescence)?
    - are your statistics updated?
    - which RDBMS are you using? Oracle can really be fine tuned...
    - do you use partitioning? Physical and/or logical?
They're so many spots to tune in order to have an effincient BI system.... but one thing is for sure: 10 minutes is definitively too loooong... As a matter of fact, I start to wonder when the average time for a navigational step is more than 7 seconds in my system....
    hope this helps...
    Olivier.

  • Template's layout, dimension size, fit to screen

A good Web page template layout fits to screen from vertical to horizontal screen aspect ratio. In order for my final project to translate into a up to date site I'm looking for a specific way to implement the functionality of the design in a browser to fit the whole screen without scroll bars going horizontal only vertical. if thats possible, How does a web designer who might work from his 11 inch laptop screen and one whose working from a 18 inch screen know their page layout will fill up the screen and design page like an artists fills up the canvas with paint. or one light in a room illuminates the entire perimeter. In other words what would the ideal number for a web templates size be in a 2 dimensional screen that will adjust its dimensions according to the dimensions of a screen.
This image is from widely used kickstarter and its a perfect example of how the woman at the top is in front of a balck background that streches from one end of the screen to the other and it doesnt require horizontal scroll bar to navigate from left to right only top to bottom. How did the designer code his template for it to do just that?

Make a black image that is as tall as you want the band at the top of the page to be, and let's say 100px wide. Make this image the background image for the page, with CSS style of repeat-x. That's all there is to it.

  • Stage dimensions(size) in Flash CS4 (AS3)

    Hi again,
I need to know how to get the dimensions of my stage (x,y), BUT only the stage and not all the objects that might continue off the stage included.

         My stage is 400 x 550.

  • How to Query SSAS Cube Size Including Each Fact and Dimension Sizes?

Microsoft recommends: “In general, the number of records per partition should not exceed 20 million. In addition, the size of a partition should not exceed 250 MB.” http://blogs.msdn.com/b/sqlcat/archive/2009/03/13/analysis-services-partition-size.aspx
I am not able to find any queries that would show how many records/size in MB I have per partition?
    Please advise.

To see how big your partitions are simply open Visual Studio/BIDS and go to
File --> Open --> Analysis Services Database ...
Now navigate to your cube and to your partitions and you will see some additional columns showing Size of each partition which are only available if you connect to an online-database (opposed to offline development)
The RowCount is a bit more tricky. The easiest thing would be to use BIDS Helper and update the estimated counts:
    https://bidshelper.codeplex.com/wikipage?title=Update%20Estimated%20Counts
but be aware, this might take some time as it is querying all relational tables again!
regarding the 250MB/20M rule: this is a just a guideline and the actual sizes depend on your data and your requirements

  • Dimension size when saving in DNG

    Hello everyone,
    Beginner question again:)
I am shooting in RAW, then converting to DNG and the dimension of my photos is 3872 x 2592 (I guess thats always the same?)
    Now I need to have a picture dimension of 3500px x 3500px and one 4600px x 3000px. How do I get there?
I assume resizing the photo in the export feature to that dimension is gonna decrease the quality?
    Help?
    Thank you in advance,
    Sandy

thank you both so much, really appreciate you're taking the time to answer my questions.
I am uploading to one of these photo selling sites where you can create different items with your photos:)
and they need to be exact the right dimensions.
my last question was more out of curiosity - even though I take pictures a while now, I seem to know not much about photography...but I did it the way DJ told me to and that is working and I guess enough for what I need it for.
    thanks again

  • How can we know the size of the dimension(in Line item Dim)?

    Hi to all experts,
We use Line item dimension if the size of dimension is 20% or more of the fact table. My doubt is that how can v know that the size of the dimesion is 20% or more of FT?. But we never store MD in dimension tables......So please help me to understand this scenario? Thanks in advance.

    Hi
Normally before modelling you will assume the number of entries in your master data and transactional data..
If your dimension is having 3 characteristics
say A,B .....and these characteristic values are say
A---10,000( Total number of master data records)
B----7,000( Total number of master data records)
    then your dimenstion would be 10,000 * 7,000 =700000000
in this case you better keep A in a dimension and B in another dimension.
Normally SAP recommends your dimension table shouldnot exceed 100,000...
so whenever you expect a characteristic is having more values then you should make it as line item...
If you want to add a new characteristic to the existing model then you can decide by comparing the ratio of dimension table to the fact table..
Please have a look at the below url for sizes
    dimension size
    Hope it helps

  • If Dimension exceeds maximum size then what will we do???

    Hi Experts,
If Dimension exceeds maximum size then what will we do???
My dought was how to increase the dimension size in SSAS 2008 R2???
           i am using SQL SERVER 2008 R2.
i had faced this question in one of the interview.so,Could you explain with an example.
    Best Regards,

You can't exceed the maximum, else you get error. The maximum is a huge number:
    Object
    Maximum sizes/numbers
    Databases in an instance
    2^31-1 = 2,147,483,647
    Dimensions in a database
    2^31-1 = 2,147,483,647
    Attributes in a dimension
    2^31-1 = 2,147,483,647
    Members in a dimension attribute
    2^31-1 = 2,147,483,647
    User-defined hierarchies in a dimension
    2^31-1 = 2,147,483,647
    Levels in a user-defined hierarchy
    2^31-1 = 2,147,483,647

  • Physical size of dimensions and composites (Express and Oracle OLAP)

Hi, have a rather odd question re: the physical size (in bytes) of composites...are they affected by the dimension sizes?
I.e. if I define a dimension "Org" as:
define org dimension text width 10
will that result in smaller composites than if I define it as
define org dimension text width 30
? i.e. given that everything else if equal (same number of values, same # of tuples, etc.) does the physical definition of how wide a dimension is affect the size of the composites that use that dimension?
p.s. need to know this for Express, but if Oracle OLAP doesn't behave the same I'd like to know that also.
    Thanks!
    Scott

A 5 dimensional composite has keys built of 5 4-byte dimension positions. There is a copy of the 20 byte value stored indexed by physical position that we use internally to determine the value of the base dimensions. Also there is a copy stored in a hash table used to take the base dimension values and convert those back to a physical position (that's 20 bytes for the key and 4 bytes for the physical position).
Finally, we have internal structures ("inversions") that we use to essentially do "limit composite to base dimensions" for looping (for each base dimension value, a list of physical positions that have that base value in it), at 4 bytes per dimension or another 20 bytes.
That's 64 bytes. Yeah, it's not cheap, but compared to a dense variable, you save a ton of space. I seem to remember a calculation someone did a long time ago that said that composites were net smaller for anything less than 20% dense.
I'm not surprised that under certain conditions you can find a better data layout. Certainly the overhead of storing dense data is tiny compared to a composite. If you are clever (or lucky) in your segmenting, you can take advantage of the "holes" in the data to improve the storage. The "holes" (large groups of NA values) can go for many pages, if the faster varying dimension size is large, and won't be stored.
Oracle OLAP contains various improvements over the Express code. I believe we now use compressed bitmaps to store the inversions, rather than lists of values, for a substantial savings. There may be other changes as well (I'm not current on the details of the dimension storage).
    Hope this helps.
