Dimming before locking

Was the software recently changed so that when the phone is inactive for a few moments the screen goes dim before locking? My auto brightness is set to off so I know it's not that.

I think it has always done that (or at least my previous phone did).

  • Dim display before locking

    I noticed that the iphone is set to dim it's display about 10 seconds or so before locking. I know you can change the time elapsed before actually locking, but is there a way to have the phone dimmed for a longer duration before actually locking and going black?

    I don't think Arthur Xie's response should be marked as the answer.  This doesn't sound like it has any relevance to Craig's original question, and hasn't been corroborated by anyone.  It threw me off the scent when I encountered the exact same
    problem - Windows 7 locking me out after 1 minute and requiring password re-entry
    It turns out that Ramesh's answer was the one that worked for me.  Somehow my machine got set to wait 1 minute and "on resume, display logon screen" was ticked.  Don't know how this happened.
    I initially missed this, because the selected screensaver was "(none)", so I assumed all the settings on this page were irrelevant.  It does raise the interesting usability point that a screen saver of "(none)" can still blank the screen, even
    though the user hasn't purposely selected the "Blank" screensaver.

  • Why does my Foxfire dim and lock up many times a day?

    several times a day my Foxfire 9.0.1 dims and locks up. I can see the timer running. It can last anywhere from a couple of seconds to minutes.

    Have you tried this?
    1. Backup iPad
    2. Setup iPad as new (Settings>General>Reset>Erase all content and settings)
    3. Install one app at a time and test it before you install the next

  • How do you change the settings you have the screen dim before it shuts off

    I know on older OS the screen would dim before the computer shuts off. I was wondering how to do that on Maverick. It doesn't seem to come up on display settings or energy saver.
    Is it not on Maverick or have I not found it yet?
    Thank you

    This is all I have, I do not seem to see an option for what you are saying

  • HT1212 My iPhone is displaying a "iPhone is disabled" notification. It asked me to enter my password multiple times before locking me out.

    My iPhone is displaying a "iPhone is disabled" notification. It asked me to enter my password multiple times before locking me out. Can you help with this?

    Hey there!
    Unfortunetly, in situations like this, the ONLY other way to bypass that four-digit passcode and/or a disabled device is to connect to a computer with the most recent version of iTunes (11.1.3), connect the device in Recovery Mode and restore it to factory settings. Restoring to factory will completely wipe the device, including the four-digit passcode.
    The steps to do so are outlined in http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1212
    (If there is any other way to bypass the passcode, it would have to be third-party, which I am not familiar with any program that can, sorry!).

  • Check for required fields before locking subforms and submitting

    Hello,
    I have a 5-page form with many questions, to be completed by the original requestor and multiple approvers.  What I'm trying to do is have the original requestor's Submit button on p. 3 lock the input on the first three pages, but first check if all those fields have some content.  I currently have all the fields on pp. 1-3 set to "Required" in the object properties, but my script still locks them when there's is one empty one.  Here's what I have:
    //Lock portions of form
    Page1.access = "readOnly"
    Page2.access = "readOnly"
    Page3.access = "readOnly"
    //Save document, allow user to change name
    app.execMenuItem("SaveAs");
    //Submit via e-mail
    Submit_REAL.event__click.submit.target = "mailto:[email protected]" +
    "?subject=Subject text" +
    "&body=Message";
    Submit_REAL.execEvent("click");
    The automatic check for required fields happens after the pages get locked.  I would like the check to stop the process before it locks the pages.  Is there any way to check all at once that all "Required" fields on those pages have some content before allowing the script to proceed?  I know how to script it to manually check the 50 or so questions on those pages, but I would like to avoid that.  Thanks for any help.

    There are a few problems that I can see from the start. First, your code is going to pick up EVERY node that exists on these pages. Some of those nodes will not have a rawValue, and some will not have an actual name. As an example, you can take your code and create a text field to dump all of the names of the nodes that you get when you pull in all of the nodes this way. Here's an example:
    The result:
    Now, the question is, do you have a consistent naming convention for your fields that might be empty? That could be text fields, radio button lists, etc. For instance, I always prefix the names of objects in order to more easily keep track of what they are in scripts. Since I'm doing that, I can check the name of the field for tf, nf, rbl, cb, or whatever I have included to make sure that I'm checking an actual field before I check for things like rawValue.
    var nodeName = oNodes.item(nNodeCount).name;
    if (nodeName.indexOf("tf")>-1 || nodeName.indexOf("rbl") > -1 || /*check other field types*/) {
      //insert your code to check for empty answers here
    As for your line 7 issue. The syntax problem is that you've put extra parentheses in your if statement. Take out the parentheses that are just before and after the or "||".
    *This is my fourth attempt to reply. Something was going on with Adobe/Jive earlier, I suppose.

  • Screen dimming before sleep

    No matter how many times I check and uncheck the option to "reduce brightness before sleep" I find that a few days later the screen starts dimming again. When I go to see if the option is unchecked like it should be, it always is!! Anyone else having this problem?

    Note that the half-dimming is there for a purpose. The florescent tubelets that illuminate your LCD are very expensive. the half-dimming is there to extend their life, and yet provide near-instant illumination if the computer detects activity by the user.
    Admittedly, it would be nice if this was configurable by the user, but that is the reason the half-dimming is there.

  • TS1286 My iPad went dim, then locked up... now it won't restore

    My iPad was functioning flawlessly until just a few hours ago when the screen went dim, not dark just dim and the unit locked up completely. I rebooted it with the home key sleep button, it restarted then after a few minutes did the same thing again.
    Screen went dim and it locked up.
    I connected it to iTunes where it recognised it in restore mode and tried to update the software.
    I got an error code of (9) which had something to do with the USB, so I tried another port and restarted iTines... it updates the software and I was int he process of syncing all my apps back onto it from iTunes when it froze again.
    Even iTunes froze...
    I had to unplug the iPad and shut down iTunes and then restart it.
    I tried to reboot the ipad but it would restart and get tot he black screen with the apple logo and just stop. I shut it down and now I can't even get it to reboot to the black apple logo screen.
    But when I plug it into iTunes, iTunes regcognizes it as an iPad in restore mode, but once I click restore it starts installing the software then gives me a error code of 1600, which is USB related.
    I've tried all the trouble shooting reccomendations on the support site and nothing...
    Is my iPad dead?
    Why will iTunes recognize it in restore mode yet I cant even get it to reboot/restart by holding down the home key and sleep button?
    Help plz!

  • Display dims before sleep, no matter the setting

    My MacBook will dim its screen (ie: reduce brightness) after about 10 seconds of idle time. I've read to stop this you need to uncheck the "dim display before sleep" checkbox under energy saver preferences. I've done this for both the power adapter and batery settings, but the display still dims! It will dim when running from the batery or the power adapter. It makes watching DVD's useless.
    Has anyone else seen this? I find it annoying, but it's driving my wife crazy.

    One option to try would be to change the login settings so that you are not automatically logged in when you start up to the computer. After you make this change, log out, log back in, toggle that display sleep setting on then back off and check the result.
    Something else that might be worth a try...
    First, I'm not sure what preferences, if any, will need to be reset after this. Also, I have not done this and do not know the result. As always, backup your stuff.
    1. Go to the folder ./Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration (not your Library folder but the one at the root level of your hard disk).
    2. Drag the file named com.apple.PowerManagement.plist to the trash. You will be prompted to enter your admin password when you do this.
    3. Restart.

  • Pause before lock screen

    Original ipad wi-fi 3G, consistantly updated a short pause from button-push to lock screen suddenly turned into a long pause from button-push to lock screen. Sometimes it pauses until a fraction of a second before the lock screen times out, sometimes it almost boots normally but never more than once.  Tried reboot-reset-refresh, started from scratch, nothing has seemed to help.

    I have the same problem. I guess these are bugs on Control Center app, and hope Apple sees to this and release updates to fix them soon.

  • Only one logon attempt to ACS before locked out

    We are setting up a wireless network, and using ACS v3.3. We have found that wired users get 3 attempts to get their passwords correct, but wireless users only get one before their account is locked out. Being somewhat new to ACS and wireless, does anybody know why this may be happening?
    Thanks in advance.

    It may just be a function of the wireless client you are using. I run into the same problem ocassionally, but it is typically user profiles which have user names and passwords stored. When they are required to change their windows password, they forget to change the stored password and end up locking their account. You should be able to see how many times the client automatically retries by using a bad password and using the command "debug radius authentication" on your AP. The Intel client has a setting in one of its .ini files stating the number of authentication retries (default=0), but I can't say about other clients without testing it.

  • Display Dims before boot and after shutdown are complete

    This is probably a stupid question but a while back I clicked on an option to have my display dim during the shutdown process and stay dim until it was completely booted.
    I would like to turn this off but I can't find where the option was.  I've checked the device manager, BIOS, standard and advanced display settings the Windows and lenovo power settings with no luck.
    I have a thinkpad W500 running Windows 7 Pro 4gb of ram with a recent upgrade in hard drive to a 750 gb WD black series drive.  I am also running IE9 which I see has some compatibility issues so I hope I can post this.
    Thanks

  • Locking "Fn" key to enable easy access up bright/dim screen and commonly used functions

    I accidentally posted the below message in the x201 tablet forum.  Moderators, please delete it.
    I just purchased my first  x201 Lenovo last night so I don't have the laptop yet.  However, I was hoping someone could help me with this issue so I can address it once the laptop arrives.
    I currently own an HP laptop (DM series) and one of the things I love about it is that the "Fn" key is essentially reversed.  So you have to press the Fn key to activate the standard "F1", "F2" etc keys.  This is a great feature because I rarely used the F keys but ALWAYS use the bright/dim, sleep, lock and volume features.  Apple also adopts this and requires that an Fn button is depressed in order to access the F1, F2, etc keys.
    I understand that the x201 has their own separate volume buttons (which is nice), but the other functions including lock and bright display and dim display keys require that the "Fn" key be depressed.  Since the bright display and dim display keys are on the far right of the keyboard and the Fn key is on the far left, it requires that I use BOTH hands to activate them (my hands/fingers are not big enough to span the entire keyboard).  This makes it even more of a chore to do something I do constantly .  When I work in the evening, I find that I am always adjusting the brightness of my display and I often lie in bed to read.  I will literally have to sit up just to do something as simple as dim or brighten my display.
    Basically, I would like to know how to either 1) lock the Fn key so that the functionality of things like brighten and dimming the display and locking the computer can be done with the press of one key (per function) or 2) map a few less commonly or never used keys to control brighten and dimming of the display, in addition to locking the computer.  One example of buttons I won't be using are those associated with the Trackpoint... as I probably won't be using those.
    Ideally, locking the Fn key (or reversing the function so it acts like as a "Shift" key when caps lock is activated) would be perfect so I have one key access to locking the comp, dim/bright display and turning the Thinklight on/off.
    It would also be great to have one key turn on or off the monitor (this may already exist but I don't know as I don't have the laptop in my hands yet).
    I apologize if I'm sounding a bit neurotic... I just use those keys so often that having to depress another key (on the opposite side of the keyboard) to do the same thing just seems so regressive.  I'd be willing to buy 3rd party software if it can do what I want it to do.
    Any help is appreciated.

    Don't know if possible in x201, but on x100 the CTRL and FN can be logically swapped via bios (they can also phisically swapped) , FN can be locked via another bios setting : is still not very handy to tweak the dimming and volume, but better than nothing.
