Direct audio from different applications to different output sources

Hi all.....I'm trying to play a movie in Quicktime on an external monitor while editing in Final Cut Pro. I want the audio from Quicktime to go through my external speakers (connected to the headphone jack) while having the audio from FCP go through the internal speakers on my laptop (Macbook Pro). That way my roommates can watch movies on my laptop through the external monitor while I'm editing, and not have to listen to my FCP audio in the background. Is there any way to do this?

I don't know if they will work, but try WireTap by Ambrosia or Audio Hijack Pro by Rogue Amoeba.

  • How can I send audio from an application to the HDMI port on my Mac Mini while also sending the audio to another application?

    I am trying to use VLC (or any streaming audio player) and listen to a web radio station while at the same time using Audacity to monitor the CODEC's digital level.  I want to make a digital measurement of the level that the streaming radio station is using on the air.  I can calibrate the levels for maxbit by overdriving my web stations encoder and watching for clipping distortion on the decode on Audacity (waveform view).  I then calibrate the clipped value to the 0dB peak on Audacity's meters or waveform view.  I also am trying to calibrate and use the free Orban Loudness meter.  I require something like Soundflower (as others have indicated) but I find that sound flower is very unstable (or maybe mis-configured on my machine with Lion).   I think there is a clock drift issue since Soundflower works well for some number of minutes and then distortion appears in one of the outputs (either the HDMI or the feed to Audacity/Orban Loudness Meter).  I would have thought this was easy on a Mac, but as it turns out it is not.  Am I missing something here and there is a way to send audio from one application to my HDMI output and another application?

    Is there no solution for getting an audio-stream into the "airplay-system", e.g. by using another apple device?

  • No Audio From Any Application Unless PP Is The Active Application

    Weird issue I have never seen before. If Premier Pro is running and you are attempting to play audio from another application, that audio output will cut out unless PP is the currently selected active application.
    EX:   Trying to play a song in iTunes or streaming a video from Youtube while Premier Pro is running will result in no audio until you switch back over to using PP then the other application's sound will start playing.
    Additional info: Blackmagic drivers are installed on this machine. We've tried multiple settings for audio within PP but none have resolved this issue.
    Hopefully someone has an idea of what is going on here. Starting to drive us crazy.

    Not on my machine.  I can have both PPro and Audition open on my PC with audition active.  I have also had PPro and the Smartsound app running with smartsound active without problems.
    You may have a driver problem.

  • How to compute data from different data sources?

    All we are doing with data is from one single datasoure, which could be from oracle or sql server or a excel table, the issue is how could we combine these data from different data source with SQL?
    Example: i need some data from Sale Table in Excel and some data from Custumer Table in oracle, how could SQL complete this mission? Solutions are welcomed and appreciated.

  • Autosync - Sync Detection Problem with Video/Audio from different sources

    Hi,
    i've got the following problem:
    I'm editing a feature film, where video comes from tape and audio from harddisc-recorder. The clips are combined/linked manually via in-point (slate).
    If I cut this video/audio combined clip in the timeline, and move only the audio 3 frames to the right, sync detection informs me correct about the out of sync problem (3 frames). BUT: If I split the audio file in two pieces, the left clip still has the "out of sync" info in the timeline and remains "linked" to the video, but the right clip doesn't show his relation to the video anymore !!!
    Is this a bug ?
    Because, if I use video and audio from one "media-source", ex dv, the sync detection in the timeline is working correct with the above example ?
    I'm lookin' for a similar way to sync clips like autosync with media-composer and thought combine audio and video clip to a new combined clip should do this....

    I have my waveforms back! Thank you SO MUCH! I looked everywhere and just couldn't find a setting for this.
    As for the sync, I guess that's OK - it's no worse than what I had before (and with the waveforms back, less of an issue to do manually). Would be nice if they'd add the ability to offset the audio track in the Modify Clip screen at some point (and it would open up the multi-cam sync feature to more users), but I can cope without for now.

  • Mixing audio from different clips: levels dropping automatically?

    Hi,
    I have a few clips containing audio. Then add 1 song to the timeline too, and I want to hear audio from both the song and the clips.
    When I mute the audio of the clips, I hear the song at a certain volume. See video+song here: music only - YouTube
    But when I also enable the clips audio, the volume of the song gets a lot lower automatically. See video + song + clip audio here: music mixed - YouTube
    I realise that adding the audio on top of each other will result in peaks that are too high, but I don't really care if these peaks get clipped. Most parts of the clip audio have a fairly low volume, but even on those parts the volume of the song stays very very low.
    When I decrease the audio levels of the song and the clips to keep the master levels from going into the red zones, the same thing happens. Only the overall audio mix has a lower volume (but still the song volume goes down when played together with the clip audio).
    Is there any reason for this to happen? Does this depend on some settings, can it be my audio hardware that causes this?

    Yes It's possible to create a repository from different datasources, provided there should be different DSN for each...
    If it's ORACLE, we can import objects from OCI directly.. by mentioning the TNS Name, without creating DSN

    It will depend on what sort of Headset. (Ideally USB and not something that Plugs in with a 3.5mm jack on the computer)
    The in iChat select the headset in iChat Menu > Preferences > Audio/Video Section > Output drop down.
    This can be balanced with settings in System Preferences > Sound > Output as well as using iTumes Volume (Controls Menu and keystrokes listed to get the "right" balance.

  • Email from Mail application viewed as raw source in Outlook

    Hi everyone,
    I'm having difficulties with certain email clients (MS Outlook) where I'll reply to a rich text formatted message and some of the recipients will see the raw message rendered in their email client.
    I've tried sending only Plain Text messages, but this has no effect.
    I spoke with Apple about the issue, but they claimed to have never heard of such an issue.
    I'm using the stock Mail application V 2.1.1.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    A little more info ... this only starts to happen when replying to emails which have many previous threads (> 10).
    Everything works fine until the number of replies reaches a certain threshold, then my replies to certain email clients exhibit the "raw message" behavior (where all the header info is embedded in the body of the email, etc).

  • Combining 2 readings into a waveform chart/graph displaying continuous readings of data from different sources

    In the file
    (Serial Read and Write to .tdms & Compare on Graph – test.vi) I am trying
    to integrate the following two waveforms into a single waveform: Realtime
    reading and Waveform chart (open vi to see). Both of them display speed vs time
    but from different outputs. One comes from an excel file (Teraterm – Results.xlsx
    – sheet 4, (column 3:row 4) to (column 3:row 1878)) and the other comes from
    the Serial input which is in Hex format and is split to get the various readings
    of speed, voltage etc. I have already wired speed to a variety of waveform
    outputs, but all result in broken wires.
    The readings are taken in by the program
    and but I am unable to wire the two readings together into one graph. 
    Please do let me know as to how can I make this work.

    I'm sorry again about the misspelling your nick. 
    I tried connecting a waveform chart to the two terminals (speed from the DAQ and speed from the excel file) but I was unable to get the connection right. I understand that charts are used for readings which are equally spaced out, whereas XY graphs are used when the readings are not be spaced out uniformly. But I am unable to wire the connections correctly.
    Actually the DAQ device continuously sends out data through the serial port. So I would not run out of data . Are you referring to the data coming from the DAQ device or the excel file? I actually have not thought of what would happen when the excel file would run out of values I am just hoping for the software to run till then for now

  • Two 24" LED Cinema display and getting audio from both

    I have two 24" LED Cinema displays connected to a MP. Is there a way to get the audio to play through the speakers on both displays at the same time?   • Using Flex to capture audio from Flash

    Hi!
    I've been trying for a while to figure out how to capture audio from a flash-application (http://www.delorean.se/mixer)
    and store it as a mp3-file.
    Since I've studied Java for 2 years I thought I'd try and use it to capture the audio but I'm running into problems all the time,
    and I've been advised to look up Flex by other Java users.
    So, I got some questions:
    Is Flex a good tool to use to capture audio from flash-applications and store the audio as a mp3-file?
    Is Flex hard to learn (I've been working with Eclipse for a long time so the IDE shouldn't be a problem and learning another language/framework is always nice)
    Any tips in general?

  • Different Output of the template from Template Builder and Oracle Apps.

    Hi,
    I have created a template with a page layout of 11" X 17" this template has around 18 columns.
    When i load the XML data and run it from XML Template builder 5.6.2 the output is fine but when I run it through oracle applications i get different output basically the output from oracle applications comes in 7 pages (First page has half page output , 2 nd page has 3/4th page output.....) where as from XML template builder the output comes in 6 Full pages.
    Wher am i going wrong.
