has anybody experience with Oracle Direct NFS on Windows?

I can't help but I have the same issue.
11gR2 64 on Win2008R2. Trying to create DB, and it fails to create datafiles on the DNFS share mapping, unless I first pre-create the folders on the NFS mapped drives (e:,f:,g:)
Even after this little workaround, Oracle cannot create it's own directories on the DNFS share for daily folders in the FRA.
Ive also opened an SR.
According to NetApp technician, this has never been an issue for him with UNIX/Linux installations. Permissions look correct on the Linux side, but still getting Permission Denied in alert log.

I tested Oracle Driect NFS with Windows and NetApp Simulator 7.x and QNAP SS-439 Pro Turbo NAS. But if I will activate Flashback I become this Error Message

Service Request open but the MOS Supporter don't understand that the installation is with Windows.
Has anybody Direct NFS running with Flashback and/or OMF?

If you for some reason must have many different folder make sure that you put the newst photo in the last folder so one can easily find a photo when I don't want to copy all photos to, let' say, my friend computer.

How do I verify Direct NFS is being used by RMAN

I have a two node 11.2.0.2 RAC database running on AIX 6.1 TL6. We using NetApp storage for NFS. Direct NFS is configured using the /etc/oranfstab entries and the ODM libraries are loaded on each instance "Oracle instance running with ODM: Oracle Direct NFS ODM Library Version 3.0". Here are the contents of /etc/filesystems

I tested if dNFS is being used by creating a tablespace on the NFS volumes and then querying v$dnfs_servers.

However, when I try to do an RMAN backup I'm not seeing any messages which indicate whether or not dNFS is being used. I tried to to a backup using the second mount (/archivelogs2) but the corresponding server (filer2) was not visible in v$dnfs_servers.
Is there any special configuration necessary for RMAN backups to use dNFS?

Tiger install will take up 12gb if you don't go through and do a custom install and remove stuff that you don't need.

Is there a way to use ethernet or something else to connect directly to my windows computer to share files. I have it on the network but I want it to be faster. How would you direct connect it with ethernet?

I have installed windows 8.1 on my MacBook Pro 13.3 Retina using Bootcamp. Windows installed successfully, but now whenever I restart the computer, it is just windows coming up and there is no sign of Yosemite! It seems that the start up option is somehow set to windows and it directly goes to windows when you turn on the computer. Any suggestions?

You can’t change your startup volume to an external FireWire or USB drive while you’re using Windows.
While viewing the Windows desktop, click the Boot Camp icon in the system tray, then choose Boot Camp Control Panel.If you’re viewing the Windows 8 Start screen, click Desktop to view the Windows desktop.If you don’t see the Boot Camp icon in the system tray, click the triangle to show hidden icons.
If a User Account Control dialog appears, click Yes.
Select the startup disk that has the default operating system you want to use.
If you want to start up using the default operating system now, click Restart. Otherwise, click OK.

need to disable Windows kernel case-insensitivity in order for Server for NFS to support case-sensitive file names. We can disable Windows kernel case-insensitivity by clearing the following registry key to 0:

Please try the following:
The path listed below points to the Library folder at the root of your startup disk, not the Library folder in your user home folder.
Delete all the files from following folders:
/Library/Application Support/Adobe/SL Store/
/Library/Application Support/Adobe/SL cache/
And, delete all files from following folder except cache.db
/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe PCD/
Then launch Acrobat, Accept EULA and enter the serial number again and check.

Cloning Databases - Anyone using Direct NFS & clonedb?

Looking to see what experiences other customer have had using/trying Direct NFS (dNFS) and clonedb - a newer feature available in 11.2.0.2 (and above) - described in MOS Note 1210656.
In particular we are looking at this for cloning a Production database for testing changes.

Direct Access on windows 2012 with OTP

Hello everyone,
i've just finished setting up Direct Access 2012 with Gemalto's OTP solution for a client,
i have an issue though, without OTP all is working fine, and when i activate OTP with all the certificates and stuff when i enter the OTP code on my client it looks like its not validating it.
on the Direct Access Server i get this error:
Erreur : Challenge returned.
source: RemoteAccess-RemoteAccessServer
ID: 10042
i have absolutely no errors on my radius server... any idea on why the server is rejecting my requests ?

I need to map a Hyper-V virtual windows server to a UNIX folder, but when i made de mapping and tried to navigate in to the mapped unit and shows me:
"The data area passed to a system call is too small"
I tried too many things like adding a registry key (and windows 2008 r2 already has)
Use a similar account between Unix and Windows domain
I done the steps in the document:

And nothing, this is just frustrating, also I disabled the firewall in the virtual machine and the host server.
I have a Windows 2008 Domain R2 functionality and the virtual machine is Windows 2008 R2 too.

Any Idea?

You may perform the following troubleshooting suggestions:

Change how your NFS servers export the NFS shares and make them allow connections from high ports.

Add UseReservedPorts DWORD value under HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Client for NFS\CurrentVersion\Default and set it to 1. Restart the Client for NFS service to allow
the change to take effect.

Over the past several weeks while browsing Firefox i got a re-direct to a window similar to a Google search not a re-direct to a particular site. I would just arrow back and keep going until it would repeat.

I don't know what version of Firefox I was using. I think it was 4.0 I have just downloaded the newest version 4.0.1 and will see if this continues or has been fixed. It has never done this while browsing with I. Explorer so I assume it to be a browser issue. One of the blogs I read said it was a Firefox issue.
The re-direct would occur usually right after I landed at a new web site or it might occur after I started browsing the site. I don't think it is a virus issue. I use Vipre home edition. The page looked just like a search listing window just like you would get in Google after searching for a subject. I would just arrow back to the site I was at and start again. Sometimes I would have to repeat this several times until it went to the correct site. Any ideas?

NIC teaming and direct access in windows 2012 server core

Hello All,
I have installed windows 2012 r2 server core and i want to implement direct access with nic teaming enabled.
Has anyone tried this kind of setup? Were they successful in it? Moreover can we configure Direct access when we have NIC teaming configured?

Hi There - NIC teaming in both core and gui is a standard feature and there is no reason (and I have used it successfully) why you cannot do so. As always make sure you look at TCP Offload as per UAG / TMG Days to ensure best performance and also Network
Card Binding Order.
