Direct Output to WDTV

Hi,
I just purchased a Western Digital HDTV Pro box and was wondering what file format I can export edited 1080i HD video in out of FCE to play on this type of unit. The reason I ask is that it appears as though the quicktime .mov files are not supported - at least the ones I have attempted to export and play on that unit. Thanks in advance for the help!

I'll take a stab at this but remember that this is coming from an amateur/hobbyist. As I have been learning about FCE, I found that one of the more confusing things for someone like me is how to export my projects with the best quality for the delivery method. A couple of the more experienced posters made some of it simple by saying that exporting a project that is going to have more done to it (like authored DVD or BR via iDVD or Toast) should be done with "Export--->Quicktime Movie". When it is going to be delivered without additional processing, then "Export--->Quicktime Conversion..." and, as Martin says, codec/size appropriate.
(btw...I'm sure I'm making that too simple, but that explanation has at least gotten me down the right road to more reading)
Try making a small test project exporting it via QT Conversion using H.264 or MPEG-4 and see if there is any quality difference between your test project and the one you mentioned in your first post. I'd use the 1920x1080 setting first, of course. I'll admit that I'm personally curious since I have been thinking about getting a WD, so let us know if this yields improvement (or if I'm way off base).

There is a utility from Oracle called Remote Report Printing
Utility. This is meant for sending Web Reports ( HTML,PDF)to a
local printer. Though I have this utility+doc I havent
successfully done it.

Why can't I get AVCHD to look as good in FCP7 as direct output from camera

I've been comparing my Sony HDR-SR12 footage and noticed a problem after import with FCP and other Mac apps.
Quality issue:
items in motion not as clear/smooth in FCP and subsequet exports as it is directly from to monitor OR files opened in Windows with media player. It is not very noticable until you project it on a 100 screen or play in full screen on an imac.
it is most noticable with scenic landscape pans..even slowly. Items moving across screen have a slightly strobed or choppy/blur effect that make it difficult to focus on them. Again.. NOT a problem directly from camcorder to projector/montior or playback on Windows media player, so it's not the camera file.
exporting to quicktime doesn't help, so it is not likely a processor/disk speed issue on playback.
Sony file spec: AVCHD 1440X108060i 29.97fps
Camera output- mini HDMI-(monitor), USB(file transfer).
What I have tried.
OS 10.6.8 with FCP7- import AVCHD files with pro res 422 codec. Timeline auto prompt switched to proper setting. Still no improvement- I then changed setting for lower/upper field, etc. No difference.
iSkysoft AVCHD/MTS converter- playback in quick time- still no improvement.
Booted in Windows- converted AVCHD files to WMV- inital trial not any better, plus other resolution/qaulity issues.
I have an iMac 2.8Ghz intel core i7, 8gig ram and 7200speed internal HD.
Anybody out there have similar problems?

Final Cut Pro shows you a proxy image. To see the real deal you need a 3rd party card/external box feeding a broadcast monitor.
If viewing using the Quicktime player, make sure you use the QT7 version. QTX is not ready for primetime.
Also, open up the QT 7 preferences and make sure you have "Use high-quality video setting when available" checked.

Data Merge: Direct output to PDF

I'm using CS3 Design Premium, Mac Pro, and I have a single page letter that uses variable images and text from a CSV file. I routinely have 4000+ records with about 10 different variables each. Normally, I break it up into about 250 chunks, export to a PDF, and then combine all of the PDF into one file.
Is there a cheap (under $100 or FREE) plug-in, script, or something else that takes the original document and outputs the merged PDF?

I just set up a simple test file with 8000 records of three fields each. 21 records per page.
I didn't use a stopwatch but direct-export to PDF seemed slightly faster than the creation of the merged document.
And since the export of the merged document failed I would say that the direct route to PDF is rather a good feature, don't you know.

On a more serious note...
I searched around for a beta sp deck that takes fire wire in and could not find one.
It strikes me that if you (Cantonpro) are already using an iMac you are either sharing the firewire bus, or placing media on your system drive. As noted, neither of these situation are recommended.
However, if you are on the system drive, then an AJA IO might be a possibility, but almost $2000 plus deck rental seems a bit steep, especially since the capabilities of the AJA would be limited by the iMac. Maybe a higher end canopus converter like this one,

but you are still talking almost $1500 plus deck rental. This solution is a bit more appropriate if you plan on staying with the iMac.
There are less expensive options that rely on composite video, but then you may as well have the station do the conversion.
Maybe you should contact a local dub house and see what they have to say, or find out if anyone near you has this equipment already.
Or, if your work is generating profit, and your business would benefit from the higher quality on-air, start to upgrade your hardware so you will see greater returns in the future.

Report cant print Chinese character properly when direct output to printer

I am able to print the chinese character properly in PDF format. (direct to printer)
However, some standard report like "Final Payment Register" "TEXT format" NOT able to print chinese character(direct to printer)
When I preview the report it can display chinese character properly.
Please advise

Direct output to spool

Dear experts,
I am trying to pass parameters calculated from report
ZMYREPORT to RM07DOCS ie standard transaction MB51.
i used
SUBMIT with matnr
              with   budat
However i coud not obtain the resultset.I am passing
material code along with posting date. ie
matnr and budat.
I am using with matnr = '<Value in current prog>'
                 with budat = '<Value in current prog>'
I also opened RM07DOCS and checked technical names of selection entries in edit selection box and found same.I looked at code but could not find the exact names assigned in report to matnr and budat
Am i passing values to wrong names of selection objects.
I wil be glad if someone could give me a hint here .

Road directions output to remote screen ?

Does anyone know if it is possible to use the voice guidance on a N95 and have the screen duplicated on an external screen similar to the capabilities viewing video/photos on a tv screen.

Directing output to shell prompt

I'm well aware of the platform independence of java, but is there any way to execute shell commands within java? Maybe there are specific packages that have utilities for doing something like this? Or are there ways to execute other programs (anything executable, ie shell scripts) from within java? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Mini-DVI to HDMI output to Philips HDTV not working with Yosemite

I've recently upgraded to the Yosemite OS, and was surprised to find out that the output to my Philips HDTV no longer works. I have a Mini-DVI to HDMI converter, which I then plug into the TV. Before the upgrade everything worked fine (I think I was running 10.7), however now it just says "Video format not supported". I've tried every video format too...nothing seems to work anymore. With my friend's Windows laptop direct output via the HDMI port to the TV works fine, so it's not a hardware issue.
The Philips TV is an 8000 Series HDTV and I've already checked for the latest updates, but it says the software is up-to-date.
Anyone have a similar problem or know of any solutions???

Output as PDF is stored in ...\Server\Cache, but output as Delimited or DelimitedData is un-traceable on server.
I have created a folder with changed rights to "Everyone" and directing output to the folder. The report server displays a message that report output has been created succefully, but the folder remains empty.

Java Stored Proc - Oracle DBMS Output

The title pretty much says it all. I have a Java Stored Procedure and I need to direct output preferably to DBMS output from within the Java code. (This is a proof of concept and the managers want to see out put from it so they "know" it's working.)
System.out.println seems to disappear (though why that is the case I have no idea) in spite of the fact that the samples all show the use of System.err to generate error messages.
I'm not married to the idea of DBMS output, but it's an easy place to have the output for debugging purposes.
Comments suggestions and ideas most welcome.

This might get you going in the right direction:
DBMS_JAVA
Gives you the ability to modify the behavior of the Aurora Java Virtual Machine (JVM) in Oracle. You can enable output (meaning that System.out.println will act like DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE), set compiler and debugger options, and more.

Output parameter in plsql Block fails

Hello. I am testing using an anonymous Plsql block with one in and out parameter. The in parameter work fine but when I add the out, the plsql block fails.
This is my environment on a Windows 7 client attaching to a Solaris server. I am using Powershell 3.0, but it is very similar to #c. I have a .net framework of 4.5.

}I have some output. It all seems to be okay. I am following a book rather closely, but after several attempts changing one thing or another, I still cannot find a way to send an out value. I have commented out the " SELECT vDelRows_Nr INTO :Param2 FROM Dual; " and that is the problem statement. Thank you for your help. Outputting quiz results to E-mail / Excel

Hi everyone,
I am a multimedia computing student currently on placement at
an organisation. I am designing an e-learning package at the moment
and am fairly new to Captivate. I have designed a package which
consists of 6 question slides. I have set the project to send the
results of the quiz to my work's e-mail address. I'm trying to find
out if there is a way of getting Captivate to directly output the
results to an Excel document. I have read numerous articles on this
site regarding outputting the results to an Access database and
would use this method, although my workplace unfortunately does not
have ColdFusion. I have also read the article regarding manually
importing the results from the e-mail into Excel, but have been
asked by my supervisor to see if there is way for Captivate to
automate this process. If you guys can help in any way, it would be
greatly appreciated.
The organisation does not currently have a LMS either, so I
can't even output the results to that. On top of that, they want me
to find a way of identifying when somebody has been through the
appication, but without a LMS I guess Captivate is unable to do
that. If you can let me know whether this is true too, that would
be brilliant!

Would your office, department, and/or township be willing to
look at an
LMS? There are a few free and low-cost LMS products out
there...
Gaftop's solution is decent but shouldn't be limited to ASP.
Since Captivate can run javascript functions that are present
in the
parent HTML page, just make calls to that JS, which then
posts to
whatever backend page you have setup to receive that POST
(ASP, PHP,
etc). Then have the backend page update the database.
This does, of course, require some sort of web server.
