  • Direct to disk recording--to mpeg stream

    Don't know if this is the correct place to post this but...
    We have a Cable TV station in which our video server uses mpeg streams. My question is I began using Bear's hand to record direct to disk from camera. Is there a workflow where one can take what is being recorded in Bear's hand or any other software and encode it on the fly. Is there a way for example to use apple script to do this?

  • Direct to Disk - Firewire issues

    I am new to FCP, i have been using Vegas video on PC but now have a MBP.
    I am trying to do tapeless recording for our webcast studio, we have a 50ft 4 pin firewire cable and a 4 -6 pin adapter. It works prefect on any windows machine so i know the cable is good. But when i plug it into my MBP or the offices Mac Pro the camera is not detected.
    I got it to work once but that was a one time deal
    In FCP i have set as "Non Controllable Device" and then go to "log and capture" that is where i just get color bars and no camera feed, if i use a shorter cable it works.
    But why would the cable work on a PC and not Mac?
    Is there any other software that might work better for Direct to Disk?
    Thanks

    The specification for FireWire (also known as i.link or IEEE 1394) states that the maximum length of a FireWire cable is 4.5 meters (14.5 feet). As a result, you cannot extend the distance of your FireWire device more than 14.5 feet without using an "active" extension cable.
    That's my guess. As to the PC versus Mac -- who knows

  • Widescreen with hard disk recorder

    I searced on Letterbox and got a ton of posts so I thought I would just ask my question.. hopefully its not too lame.
    I have 2 cameras with which I am shooting 16:9. One I am shooting with tapes the other I am using a nnovia quickcapture hard disk recorder.
    When I capture into final cut from tape, I get letterboxed footage. When I bring footage in from the hard disk.. its widescreen, no letterbox. Obviously, I need to match the footage. How can I letterbox the footage coming in from the hard disk recorder?
    Or, how can I match the footage in terms of dimensions. As an aside, when I use motion to zoom in on a cut I lose the letterboxing that Final Cut generated. How do I replace it?
    Thanks!!

    Thanks!!
    i can't answer anything else but to above, that should be as simple as putting a widescreen matte on that clip that you're doing a zoom in on.

  • TV or hard disk recorder to Zen Na

    Is there a way or cable to connect my Zen Nano to TV or Hard disk recorder via the line in for recording to the Nano?

    Has the Nano a line-in connector - I thought it was the Nano Plus (and the N200) with the line-in.
    If you just have the Nano then this won't be possible.

  • HDMI Hard Disk Recorder to Blackmagic Intensity Pro

    I have a hard disk recorder (HDR) with an HDMI out. I am wondering if I can run that through a Blackmagic Intensity Pro card and pull ProRes 422 or DVCPro HD from it. (I know the card working in both formats) I'm wondering about the HDR interacting with the card.
    Card looks great, we are hot to buy it, if this could work! Thanks for the help.
    Sean

    It probably will not work. All HDMI output devices are to have HDCP support except Camcorders. The Intensity HDMI inputs do not support HDCP. Look in the literature of your HDR and look for HDCP. If it supports HDCP them you are out of luck.

  • Disk recording not found...

    im running itunes 8.0 and windows vista. I was trying to back up my library today and i got the message "Disk recording not found..." is there anyway i can fix this?

    Scooter60201,
    Does repairing iTunes resolve the issue?
    To do so, close iTunes and navigate to the Control Panel >Programs and Features / Uninstall a program, select iTunes and choose "Change" and then choose "Repair".

  • Camcorder direct to DVD recorder questions

    I've got a client that does focus groups and sometimes they ask me to videotape them. The clients usually want a VHS copy right on the spot. So there is no editing. Well, now some clients are beginning to want a DVD-video instead of VHS.
    I do not have any experience using a set-top DVD-Recorder and I was wondering if anyone can chime in on their reliability for making DVDs from an external source such as a camcorder. These disks do NOT need any menuing or anything fancy. And honestly, they don't need to be pristine in their image quality either. But since the sessions often last over 2 hours, they need to allow for more than two hours of footage. And they cannot have any major hiccups. The recording needs to be pretty reliable.
    So can anyone recommend any (US) models that are reliable for this sort of application? I noticed that some have disk drives and I thought that the reliability might be better to record onto disk then make a "fast copy" to DVD. Any thoughts on this method vs just strait to DVD? Still others have a firewire input. Might I obtain better quality coming from a DV camcorder using firewire to the DVD recorder? Or, is this only used when the source is actually recorded onto DV tape, which I cannot use do to session lengths?

  • Direct to HD recording

    Hi hope anyone here can help me. i know there is a program called onlocation and i used it quite often. but i am looking for a nativ Mac programm dont wanna go to bootcamp to record, or parallels.
    so is there a way i can record directly for a fairly cheap price to harddisk?
    and then immediatly import the files to final cut.
    i want to record DV (old dv cam) and also HDV.
    thanks for your help

    Do you have a camera with firewire out? Just plug it into the laptop and open Final Cut and the Capture Window and just run Capture Now. Of course you'll need to backup all the files you capture to some safe storage device so that if you hard drive crashes (and it will) you don't lose all the footage.

  • Iphone 5 direct line in recording from mixer

    I'm intending to buy an iphone in October and wants to find out if there are any external cables or devices I need in order to connect a direct line out from the mixer to the iphone 5 (I believe it should work the same in iphone 4s) to do recording. Or can I just plug in my 3.5mm audio out cable directly? Does the iphone 5 jack allow direct audio input? Please advise. Thanks!

    did you solved your problem? My line ins disappeared too! (audigy 4)

  • Not directed to Interaction Record automatically after confirmation of BP

    Hello Experts,
    i'm currently working on a requirement to direct a user to the Interaction record creation view automatically after confirmation of an account and installed base. Consequently i have maintained  following customizing setting within our account identification profile:
    Account Navigation:
    Object type = BT126_INR, UI Action = D
    I have tested the following scenario's:
    1. In case when i confirm an account AND installed then automatically the Interaction Record create view is being displayed --> OK.
    2. In case when i confirm an account which is not linked to an Installedbase then nothing happens. --> NOT OK
    3. In case when i confirm an installed base and the related account afterwards then nothing happens --> NOT OK
    Can you explain why in situation 2 & 3 i'm not directed to the Interaction Record create view?
    Regards, Sander

    Hello, Sander.
    First of all identify which view and component you use while confirming partner (e.g. which view/component Confirm button belongs to).
    In general it should be ICCMP_BP_DETAIL component and one of its views: BuPaDetail, BuPaDetailB2B or BuPaMixDetailB2B.
    For instance, let's take a look into BuPaDetail (for other views procceed in the same way).
    In its event handler EH_ONCONFIRM there is such code at the very end:
    * process further steps
    CALL METHOD me->process_after_confirm
       EXPORTING
         ir_bupa_controller = lr_cucobupa.
    ENDMETHOD.
    Let's go futher and step into this method process_after_confirm. Here the check is started.
    * navigate only if ibase has been confirmed or if ibase is not selected in customizing
    lr_objcomp_cust = ir_bupa_controller->get_objcomp_cust_instance( ).
    CHECK lr_objcomp_cust IS BOUND.
    lt_bpcodeta = lr_objcomp_cust->get_bpcodeta( ).
    IF lr_objcomp_cust->objcomp_defined( ) EQ abap_false.
       lv_navigate = abap_true.
    ELSEIF  ir_bupa_controller->is_product_confirmed( ) EQ abap_true.
       lv_navigate = abap_true.
    ELSE.
       READ TABLE lt_bpcodeta WITH KEY auto_search = abap_true ASSIGNING <fs_bpcodeta>.
       IF sy-subrc <> 0.
    *      auto search is not set for any component
         lv_navigate = abap_true.
       ELSE.
         IF <fs_bpcodeta>-search_approach IS INITIAL.
           lv_navigate = abap_true.
         ENDIF.
       ENDIF.
    ENDIF.
    And after that the system creates objects for navigation. In the above code they check settings made in SPRO -> CRM -> Interaction Center WebClient -> Master Data -> Define Account Identification Profile.
    Hope this will help you.

  • Direct To Disk Capture From Two Sources?

    I was referred here from the Premiere forum regarding a feature of OnLocation.
    I've discovered I'm unable to use the audio recorded from my camera (Canon XL2) because of it being extremely noisy. I suppose I could put it in the shop to fix it and hope the noise goes away (which I've been told is really only 50/50 since direct-ins on cameras are likely to have this issue) but it's a moot point anyway because such a repair wouldn't be in my budget at this point anyway.
    So, my second option would be to go with an external interface (I'm looking at the M-Audio line) to take the audio directly into the PC and pull only the video in from the camera. However, this poses an issue with having to re-sync both the audio/video together later on, which is an extra step I'd like to avoid.
    My thought was that if I could record both the audio and video in real time (and at the same time) it would be created and saved together, thus avoiding having to sync anything later (unless there is an easy way to do this I'm not aware of).
    So my first question is this:
    I know OnLocation can capture direct to HDD as you film. Is there a way to set the camera as the video source but set the M-Audio interface as the source for the audio (which I'll connect a lav mic to via XLR cable).
    Any thoughts?

    Not that I know of, I'm afraid.  You could  try capturing the audio through the PC's generic record utility through line in.
    The trouble with OL CS 5 is that it's VERY fussy about datarate.  Whilst CS4 was very happy to record onto a 7,200 HDD, CS5 causes frequent bottlenecks.  I had to buy an e-sata raid drive running Raid-0 to eliminate this.
    My point being, I don't know whether OL would manage to run in unison with anothr application.  In any case, you would have to re-sync.

  • Best way to download large files direct to disk?

    Hi,
    I am writing a process that will download a file (in the
    background, no GUI interaction) and will save it onto the users
    drive. Once it is saved to disk they will be notified.
    I don't want to use FileReference as that prompts the user, I
    also don't want to just use UrlStream direct into a ByteArray
    because the files can be quite big and I don't want to hog memory.
    What would you recommend I do? Is the only option to simply
    do an urlstream.readBytes() into a smaller temporary ByteArray and
    then immediately write those bytes to disk, rather than appending
    to an overall larger byte array that only gets written once the
    entire file is saved?

    I think it might be your lucky day, I think I just saw the
    article you need.....

    ....you didn't say what you wanted to do it in and well Im

    var urlReq = new air.URLRequest(urlString);
    var urlStream = new air.URLStream();
    var fileStream = new air.FileStream();
    urlStream.addEventListener(air.Event.COMPLETE, loaded);
    urlStream.addEventListener(air.ProgressEvent.PROGRESS,
    writeFile);
    var file =
    air.File.desktopDirectory.resolvePath("testing.png");
    fileStream.openAsync(file, air.FileMode.WRITE);
    urlStream.load(urlReq);
    function writeFile(event) {
    // only write every 50k or so downloaded
    if (urlStream.bytesAvailable > 51200) {
    // Read the buffer into a ByteArray and write it to disk
    var data = new air.ByteArray();
    urlStream.readBytes(data, 0, urlStream.bytesAvailable);
    fileStream.writeBytes(data, 0, data.length);
    function loaded(event) {
    // Write any remaining data to the file before closing it
    var data = new air.ByteArray();
    urlStream.readBytes(data, 0, urlStream.bytesAvailable);
    fileStream.writeBytes(data, 0, data.length);
    fileStream.close();
    </script>
    </head>
    <body>
    </body>
    </html>
    ...and it downloads it in the background.
    Hope it helps.

    Now I have a Sony HDR-PJ230 and it is not recognized in iMovie09. Do I need to upgrade to iMovie 11 or ???

    Hi jcm2656,
    iMovie ’09 does not support the Sony HDr-PJ230 camcorder. See this article for a list of cameras supported for that version of iMovie -
    iMovie '09: Camcorder Support
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3290#1
    iMovie ’11 however, does support it. See this article -
    Apple - iLife '11 Help - iMovie ’11 Supported Cameras
    http://help.apple.com/imovie/cameras/en/index.html
    Note that iMovie does not support footage recorded in 1080-60p from this Camcorder.
    Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

  • Compatibility issues with my Sony DCR-DVD201 mini disk recorder

    While I can play video through my camera using the DVD player that came with my new desktop, I am unable to import video. iMovie does not recognize my camera. I was under the impression that Macintosh was cutting edge, simple, and intuitive regarding movie making. So far, it has been anything but. What's more, I told the Apple salesperson that I had a Sony mini DVD recorder and nothing was mentioned about incompatability. I am working on a time sensitive project and am in desperate need of assistance. I contacted Sony via Live Chat and was told that I was SOL. Is this true?

    Welcome to iMovie Discussions.
    You'll need to import your DVD footage onto your Mac via the camcorder's USB cable, which may take a while, and then download MPEG Streamclip to convert the DVD material into a form which iMovie can handle.
    (..Incidentally, I think Bengt meant that "i.Link", not "iLinc" (which might be mistaken for "Lanc") is the same as FireWire, when he wrote "..Digital in/out - FireWire - IEEE 1394 - iLinc is the same..")
    ("Lanc" is a remote connection for camcorders, for turning on and off and zooming the camcorder from a distance.)
