Direct to Editor?

In PSE6.0 I could open from desktop icon direct to Editor. Now using PSE8.0 and want to do same, not have all that introductory gibberish; have I missed something? I work most of my photos in Editor and save to My Pictures; very rarely get into Organizer.

Wow! Something so simple, yet never thought of
that, not being overly computer-savvy.
Works like a charm. . . thanks much for the assist.

  • Why do multiple RAW files not open directly in editor after conversion?

when I process several images on ACR [in Elements 7, with ACR 5.4] instead of opening in editor, the screen reverts to Organizer with the processing file message across the thumbnails;  if I open editor, the files are there.  At one time it seemed as if more than one image would open;  if I process only one image in ACR and click on open image, then it goes directly to Editor.  Do I need to reset some thing - or?

How are you batch processing the camera files?
You can use File>Scripts>Image>Processor or File>Automate>Batch
Wiith batch if you check Suppress File Open Option dialogs, then the camera raw dialog won't open.

  • Opening Elements 8 direct to Editor

Just moved up to Ver. 8. How can I open directly into Editor and pass the Welcome screen and Organizer like I do in previous version? I have not found the short cut yet.  Thanks somebody!---Hughe---

  • Editor is not opening

I have Photoshop Element 4, working well untill my problem. From the "Organizor" it refuses to switch to "Editor" with a message (rough translation from the French" : "Impossibility do connect to Editor". I have desintalled and reinstalled : same situation. Even worse now when from the "opening screen of Photoshop" I try a clic to parameter "Direct opening with Editor", in addition to the same message, it is now completly impossible to open the file Photoshop, no opening anymore. Any help ? Many thanks

    Hi,
    Many thanks for your interest.
    1. At the present situation, Photoshop doest not open at all anymore. This
new situation has happened when I have "parametered" Photoshop to open
directly on "Editor" instead of "Organizator".  Before that, Photoshop was
opening, I choose "Organizator" and then I transfered there my photos before
selecting then to be transferred to "Editor" : it was at this point that the
system blocked with a message, in French "Impossible d'établir la connexion
à l'application de l'Editeur" which roughly means : "Impossibility to
    connect to Editor".
    2. Deinstall + Reinstall (with the original CD) : I done done it 3 times !
Very strange  Same problem, Photoshop keeps the same symptoms !!! Would be
something coming from the hard disc of computer and forcing the disturbances
of the fresh reinstalled Photoshop ?
Very grateful for your attention and help.

    HELP!!!
After owning Pse 9 for a couple years now, iam having problems opening the editor.
I have read through many of the forums and tried:
Creating a shortcut to open pse.
    resetting the preferences
altering the Twain plugin name( it says pse.8ba) and another which says "save for web(el).8be"
    re-installing
Tried running via the administrator method...
    ALL TO NO AVAIL!
I have a Sony vaio  64 bit laptop running windows 7.
After re-installing PSE 9 the editor DID open via the "run the administrator" option for a couple days....and now its being defiant again!
Im hoping someone can come up with a genius solution, but if not, can someone please tell me how i can get a refund?
    Yours...In hope!

  • Elements 11 Editor not opening

I can open and select pictures in PSE 11 but cannot open pictures in Editor. It acts like its working, says authenticating then nothing no notice or warning pops up. So I tried opening directly into Editor and it won't let me do that either. I really wish I could actually get tech support without paying for it, like every other company in the world.

  • Organizer no longer opens image in Editor

The Organizer and the Editor stopped working together in just 1 of my catalogs. It happens to be the catalog in which I have done the most image manipulations such as renaming, stacking, albums, rating, etc. Now, when I select a photo in Organizer and click on Fix, Edit, the Editor window comes up but the photo does not appear in Editor. The only way I can get an image into Editor is to pull it directly into Editor. Then, when I want to save it as a Version Set I have to choose File> Organize Open File in order to save the image as a version set. Other than deleting and re-creating the catalog, how can I get Editor to open the image from Organizer like it used to do?

    Can you try this-
    1. Launch Editor
    2. Launch Organizer
    3. Now select one such image and click Ctrl+I to open the selected image in Editor
Does the focus come to Editor app?
    Is the workspace blank?
What is the file format (camera raw or jpegs) of images you are working on?
    Thanks

  • Multiple problems with PSE10 Organizer

I have Photoshop Elements 10 that I am using with Windows XP with Service Pack 3, a Pentium 4 CPU with 3 GHz, 2 GB of RAM and 48.6 GB of free disk space. I have had multiple problems with Organizer since I started using it.
When I first got PSE10, I imported 8 years of my photos into one catalog in Organizer. I'm not sure how many images were included in this catalog but from what I've read, there's no limit to the number of images that can be placed in a catalog.
Question: Is there any limit to the number of images that can be put into one catalog?
    Catalog A
Problem 1) People recognition didn't work. When I tried to find people for tagging, the feature didn't work. After researching the problem online, I found that others who had the same problem solved it by rebuilding the catalog a few hundred images at a time. I deleted the original catalog with all of my images and created a new catalog with just 800 images from this year. Then, people recognition worked, and I was able to tag people. The only other feature that I have used in Catalog A is that I have edited a few images to improve exposure. I have not rated images, stacked them, renamed them or created albums. With this catalog, the Organizer and the Editor still work together so when I select a photo in Organizer to fix, the Editor opens up with the photo for editing like it is supposed to do.
    Catalog B
I created another catalog that had about 900 different images from a European tour. I deleted some of those images so there are now 760 images in this catalog. At first, all the Organizer features seemed to work fine in this catalog. I was able to pull photos from Organizer to fix in the Editor. I rated all the images, stacked and renamed some photos and created several albums under an album category.
Problem 2) A couple of days ago, the Organizer and the Editor stopped working together.
Question: How do I get the Organizer & Editor to work together again?
Problem 3) The Exif data has disappeared on quite a few of the images in Catalog B even though the Complete radio button is highlighted under the Properties panel. Some of those images were never edited or re-saved.
Question: How do I get the Exif data back into Properties.
Problem 4) Yellow question marks continue to appear on the top left of some images even though these images have not been moved. The Organizer searches for the "missing file" and finds it quickly but why is it "missing"? I have gone through the albums in this catalog, completed the missing file searches on all the images so that no yellow question marks appear and when I go back to the catalog the next time I find the yellow question marks are there again!
Question: Why does Organizer think the files are missing? Why isn't the file location remaining the same?
Problem 5) When I re-opened Catalog A with the general 2012 images, I got a message that my watched folder had new photos to import. When I clicked on ok, the next window brought up 3 photos that were already in Catalog B of my European tour that were taken in September. Somehow, the Date Created and the Dated modified had been changed from 9/12 to 11/12 so the Organizer thought they were new images when they were not.
Questions: Shouldn't the Date Created remain constant?  The Date Created does not seem to represent the date the picture was taken, so what does that date represent? How can I keep the date created from being changed?
    Both Catalogs
All of the images in both catalogs show creation dates that are later than the date modified, (example: date created of 6/12 and a date modified of 3/12).
Question: How is it possible that the date created is later than the date modified?

    Hey Paysonite,
A lot of questions hmm!!! Let me try to answer few of them.
Question: Is there any limit to the number of images that can be put into one catalog?
Ans: No, you can import as many images in catalog you want. Just to add, as the size of catalog grows, Organizer's perfromance will be affected.
Question: Why does Organizer think the files are missing? Why isn't the file location remaining the same?
Ans: As you mentioned in your comments, you have deleted some files (i assume from explorer). But these deleted files are still present in Organizer. Since the deletion happened outside the organizer, so Organizer is unaware of the deletion. So when organizer tries to read the files (which were deleted), Organizer is unable to find then and thus thinks that files are missing.
Questions: Shouldn't the Date Created remain constant?  The Date Created does not seem to represent the date the picture was taken, so what does that date represent? How can I keep the date created from being changed?
Ans: Date created represents the date on which the files was created on your files system (or into OS). It is not date when the images was shot (actual shot date is Date time Original in Organizer).
Question: How is it possible that the date created is later than the date modified?
Ans: A simple way to do it is-Suppose you have an image which was brought/copied on July (i am explaining this with the help of month only. Assume date to be 1st and year to 2012). Now change the system date to August. Edit this image in Editor (without creating a version set for easy illustration). Now date created is July and date modified is Aug.
Copy this fine on flash drive/pen drive. Delete the original file from windows. Change the system date to Sept. Now copy the file in windows and see its properties. It has Date created as Sept and date modified as Aug, which answers you question.
I am unable to fully understand your remaining questions. Please elaborate.
Also please let me know if you need more info with above answers.

  • Not able to read long text in MCI10001

    Hi gurus,
I am using MCI10001 for IW21 tcode where I have to read long texts of maintenance line items under Maintenance Tasks tab.
Long text is not getting created for line items at this exit. Please suggest me if any exits/BADIs available where I can read the same.
    Thanks in advance.
    Anees

    Hello,
You need to set FM ‘SAVE_TEXT’.or  'CREATE_TEXT'
tdformat = '>X'  <-- this format you can not set directly in editor
    CONCATENATE '*' tdline
             INTO tdline
             SEPARATED BY space.
this will make text to be non editable.
    Thank you...

  • Quicktime file open problem: preventing a masterpiece debut movie!!!

    Hi all,
I am trying to edit some video footage I shot with a Sony miniDV Camcorder some time back. Part of the reason I bought my first mac (20" iMac duo intel) was to be able to make a short movie from this footage which I could never do on my old, tired rubbish PC. Imagine my disappointment when I tried to open the files with iMovie and they didn't open, just got an error message.
The files are listed as XXXX.mpg and they have size (multiple GB each). Also I downloaded VLC and they play fine in that. But I really want to get them into the Apple movie making software. It appears, if they can't play in Quicktime, they can't be edited in iMovie.
Originally, I used a PC Software package called "Ulead Videostudio 8", to get the files off the camera and into mpg format. Thats the only other background I have....
Can anybody please help! (Its such great footage too, was a charity sponsored classic mini rally around Europe and ending up in Italy, called (surprisingly!) "The Italian Job".
BUT it was in 2004! Help me realise my dream of a fantastic 10minute movie to impress my friends and family!!!
    Thanks, Chris

I originally got the film off the camera via Firewire using VideoStudio 8 (one of the few pieces of affordable software I could find on the PC that would read the Sony's file format). I then saved it into its current form using this software.A bit of information that was too important to leave out. In any case, the DV compression format is more or less the standard for editing at the "frame level" on a computer. Any of the usual Mac editors will capture your DV data from your camera via FireWire from within the application.
This of course, brings up another question. Do you still have the original tape? If so, then the best approach would be to re-import the data directly to editor. This would, of course, reduce the loos of quality associated with your previous conversion to the more "lossy" MPEG format, as well as, any additional loss in having to convert back to a "native editing" format and then on to your delivery/distribution format for the final product.
If you don't have the original tape, then you would have to go the conversion route to do any major amount of precision editing and this brings up a secondary question -- When you say "MPG" here, are you referring to MPG as MPEG-1 or MPEG-2 files? Files produced on PC platforms often use MPG as a general extension for any MPEG-1/2 audio and/or video format combination. If the files are MPEG-1 A/V, then the MPEG-2 component is not required for MPEG Streamclip but your quality will have just taken another hit due to the conversion workflow.

  • Photoshop elements 9 Ogranizer error Import failed

Photoshop Elements 9 organizer...when I try to "save as" a  .jpg file from editor to the organizer, I keep getting an error "Import Failed" file not supported or file already in organizer...been using this software for a long time..just started to happen...now it says this everytime I try to save anything..it will not let me put it in the organizer at all.  What happened?

    What is the exact message?
Just 'Import Failed' or some more information?
Can you please do a catalog optimize and repair using File >> Catalogs... option ?
Also, are you initiating the edit workflow from Organizer, say by sending the file from Organizer to Editor, doing some edit and then saving to 'Include in Organizer' or you are simply opening a file directly in Editor, doing some edits and then saving the file?
    What are your exact steps?
    Thanks

  • Adobe Elements 10-what happened to the pics?

Normally I try to avoid anything "Adobe" but I had to buy Elements 10 because Corel's program refused to operate on my computer because I had once
used a trial version of pro 4. I had been using Picasa and it has all my pictures. When I installed Adobe's program none of the pictures went to elements 10.
I never had this happen in any program I ever used. They all scooped up the pictures and then let you organize them. No matter how hard I try
I can't get one picture into elements without actually going in and picking it! Something is wrong!
I am afraid if I erase picasa that I will lose my valuable pictures. Any suggestions?  Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
You can organize your photos in PSE Organizer and then edit them one or more at a time in PSE Editor.
Launch Organizer and click File >> Get Photos and Videos >> From Files and Folders to import all your pictures in Organizer catalog. EO Catalog is a db of your file associations and so your images don't get replicated. It just holds thumbnails of your files along with any tag/album info that you might have associated.
The editing work can be done by taking these files to Editor by simply selecting the files in organizer and then right clicking on them >> choose Edit in Photoshop Elements Editor.
Other than that, you can individually open files directly in Editor using File >> Open option in PSE Editor.
    Hope this helps
    Thanks

  • Elements not opening

    Hi Guys,
I click on the Elements 9 icon and elements 9 does not open
    Mark Smith

In windows, try going to the program files [program files(x86) for a 64-bit system] and launching directly from there. On a mac, go to the applications folder.
Also, it's better not to use the welcome screen anymore, especially if you had entered photoshop.com info there. Now that photoshop.com is dead and gone, that will hang you up forever while it tries to connect to the non-existent server. Better to make shortcuts/dock icons directly to editor and/or organizer and use those to launch PSE.

  • Exporting RAW files to PS5 from Lightroom

when exporting RAW files from lightroom 3, version 3.6, to photoshop 5, (version 12.04, ACR 6.6), raw files go directly to editor, not camera raw editor. This began only after I went from trial version to full version, before it went to RAW editor.  If loading directly into PS RAW files do go to RAW editor as they should, but not from LIghtroom.
    Please advise

The way it is working now is the way it is supposed to.  I don't know why ACR was opening before.  You do your adjustments in Lightroom, and when you send the image to Photoshop ACR is used to interpret the Lightroom adjustments.  If you want to be able to go back to ACR then you need to open the image as a smart object.

  • Matching Color of Transparent Rectangle to Solid Rectangle

    Hi,
I have a solid color rectangle on a layer.
I would like to create several similar rectangles on different layers with different opacity levels (i.e. 90%/75%/50% etc), that will match the solid color rectangle exactly, when they are against a white background.
I used Hue/Saturation on the transparent rectangles to approximate the solid color, but the eyedropper shows that I am a of couple values off. Is there a way to accurately match these colors exactly?

"...But they don't seem to control RGB values individually-only the direct swatch editor seems to allow direct RGB value entry, and of course, that is useless for a layer with opacity settings, as it only shows the 100% opacity value..."
The above excerpt suggests you are not really grasping the role of opacity. Let me take another shot at explaining it and then I promise not to pound on you further.
Opacity does not change color values in a layer. A pixel with RGB values in a layer of 134/174/154 will still be 134/174/154 no matter what the layer opacity. To appreciate that, underly the layer not with white but with transparency, and check the layer color values as you change its opacity---they will not change.
What you see and the info palette shows, however, is a combination of the layer color value and that of the substrate. The percent of the top layer value contributing to the result is its opacity. The percent of the substrate's color value added is the top layer's transparency, which is nothing more than the inverse of its opacity.
Thus, in normal mode, the resultant color value is a mixture of the layer value and the substrate value, the proportions of which are fixed by the opacity. Again, layer opacity does not change layer color values but, rather, the net effective color value of the layer in combination with whatever lies beneath it. And probably needless to say except that some users think of it as "nothing", the values of a white substrate are 255/255/255---color to the max!
