Direct to voice mail
a number of calls to me are going direct to voice mail. I am not on the phone at the time. what can I do to get these calls rather than have them go to voice mail
VZW Support, I have a Android Merge by HTC. I have the same problem that Tiger73 described. Beginning two days ago I ceased receiving phone calls and while exploring the cause I saw that my phone was set on "Silent" mode. I thought this had just "happened" inadvertently. I changed it to Normal mode but it kept reverting to Silent. After many attempts, and after removing the battery and reattaching the battery, it is now set to "Normal". I have all volume settings turned all the way up high. When I change the call/ring sound the phone sounds audibly. When I get a gmail msg, the phone makes an audible tone. However, calls made to my phone go immediately to voicemail! PLEASE suggest something else to try. I did the *73 thing already but that has no effect. I have NEVER used call forwarding on this phone. Normally I just turn the sound all the way down if I don't want to hear it ring. Thanks for any help!

iPhone 5s doesn't ring and goes directly to voice mail. Do not disturb is disabled. Have reset network settings and did a hard reset. What am I missing?
Call your phone carrier - that's a problem for them to resolve.

IPHONE 4S incoming calls go directly to voice mail. This is a brand new replacement phone. Prior phone didn't have this problem
Slide up from the bottom of your display to access the control panel.
Look for the button (should be at the top) that shows a crescent moon.
Tap that button. It should say "Do not Disturb: Off".
Then try it out and let us know if it worked. -
1-My phone does not ring all the time upon recieving an incoming call, it goes directly to voice mail.
2- Not recieving alert tone upon recieving a text message.
3- Dropping calls alsoWe have the same problem widespread in our company with iPhone 4's and 5's:
- Fails to establish the call, dials but nothing happens
- Drops the call for no reason even though signal strength is good
- Recevie text alerts to notify of voicemail when the handset has not rung nor does it show missed calls
We migrated someone to a Samsung Galaxy S4 for a month and all these issues went away. Nothing to do with alert tones turned down or faulty silent switches. -
Why does my phone call go directly to voice mail when I call my daughter. I can call anyone else and talk to the person I call.
I am using the IPhone 4
Your response is that she has it forwarded to voicemail. It is a Samsung -so she wants to know how she un forwards it,. Or is my phone directly to her voicemail. The 'Finger Tips" says to send a call directly to voicemail push On/Off twice. I did not knowingly do that

Clarifications... when you say "... only some calls..." and "... someone says they called..." - are these all from from one caller?
After following all these fine suggestions and eliminating them systematically, consider that this kind of stuff is as old as the cellphone system. A few possibilities that occur to me just regarding the network system:
you are in a habitually dead spot area. I have one in my own house!
you travel through many of these dead zones (traditionally called 'low-coverage' areas) - remember how big a deal the coverage maps were to us?
there is an issue with your network service provider's back-end system (my first thought - above)
keep plugging away amigo! I'll bet you get this solved.

Receiving Calls Problem - going directly to voice mail
My iPhone is set to check for email every 15 minutes. If someone calls at the time iPhone is automatically checking for email, the call goes directly to voice mail.
Worse it doesnt even show up as a missed call.
I understand that Edge is turned off when making a call.
But this happens automatically so I have no control over this feature. I tried calling myself from a landline at the time iPhone was checking for emails and verified this issue.
Does anyone else have the same problem - what is the solution?
Thanks"That's the way that GSM/EDGE works. The radio can only do one thing at a time. If it's doing data, then the voice call goes right to VM and you don't get notified until the VM gets in."
That is not entirely correct. That is not how GSM/EDGE works. This is how iPhone is designed to work. I have a Nokia N73 and when i am browsing the Web using EDGE (T-Mobile's network), if i get a call, i will be prompted to accept the call. The way that iPhone is designed, it seems to be that Apple values data connectivity more than voice calls. In my opinion, this is probably the wrong way to do it. -
Calls going directly to voice mail
Since this morning I am not receiving calls - in testing the call rings once then goes to voice mail. I called Apple Support and was told to do a Reset, which took care of the problem for about an hour and now it is back.
Is anyone else experiencing this? I use my iPhone for business and this is very disruptive.
I upgraded to 1.1.3 last week - everything has been fine until today!!People in the past had posted issues with call forward. After they had deactived this feature the calls were still being sent to the forwarding number. Have you used this feature? If so then you need to call AT&T to have it deactivated. If you have not used this feature I would still call AT&T since this appears like an issue one their end. Best of luck.

Unity Connection Auto Attendant direct to voice mail, MWI issue
hi,
First time encountering this issue with call transfer from AA and MWI.
An Auto Attendant have been setup for a branch office. All employees at the Branch office phones are assigned a DID.
Customers can dial the 10 digit or dial the main line (auto attendant) and then dial the last 4 digit extension to reach the employee.
Problem I am having is there is a range of numbers that when being transferred from AA, goes directly to voicemail. Also when there is a message left on the voicemail, the MWI is not lit. It does show the envelope icon and the message "you have vociemail" on the phone display.
I can call the DID directly and it does not go directly to voicemail but MWI is still not on when a message is left.
This only happens within a range of numbers.. for example, I have 50 DID assigned to this office from XXX-XXX-0100 to XXX-XXX-0150. Only the phones within the range of XXX-XXX-0120 to XXX-XXX-0130 have this issue with the AA going directly to vociemail and MWI not on when a message is left.
For phones outside this range of numbers, AA transfer works fine and MWI works.
anyone ran into this issue before?
thank in advance.Hi,
The range in which you are facing issue is XXX-XXX-0120 to XXX-XXX-0130, just try to open any one of the extension in this range and go to edit -- transfer rules -- standard/alternate (if alternate is enabled) -- Transfer calls -- may be this is set to Greetings. If so the transferred call goes to voicemail directly. Try enabling Extension.
Just try this for one extension and see...
Hope this helps, i had the same issue.
Regards

Treo 800W: Missing Calls, Going Directly to Voice Mail
I am at wit's end. My Treo 800W will roll directly to voicemail for no reason. I've gone through my settings to ensure the box that blocks interuptions during data sessions is unchecked. I've made my active sync a manual operation. Yet I still miss 5 or 6 calls a day!
Any ideas?
And I'm not alone. There are others all over the Treo forums experiencing the same problem. Check here: http://discussion.treocentral.com/showthread.php?t=168727
Post relates to: Treo 800w (Sprint)I have sprint as well and have that issue. I always though it was because of the service provider. Please let me know what feed back you get with regards to this.

Incoming Calls Sent Straight to Voice Mail
This problem seems to be linked to screen blanking. If I allow the screen to go dark by itself (after the preset number of seconds--30, in my case), all incoming phone calls will be sent direct to voice mail without ringing. I get a notice, then, if they leave a voice mail...but of course they have already hung up and I can't answer the call. People who don't leave a voice mail, I never know that they have called.
If I shut down the screen manually, phone calls ring as usual and I can anwer them. I have been to two different Verizon stores to have this checked out. They have removed the battery and reinstalled it, and also have reprogrammed a couple of times. They've also checked bunches of settings to be sure I haven't accidentally pressed a wrong button somewhere. Still, this happens. If I do not manually shut down the screen, I lose my incoming calls.
Any ideas? I love my phone and would hate to return it, but that may be my only option. I shouldn't have to manually shut off my screen after every operation in order to receive calls.slolife wrote:

If you have been to two different Verizon Wireless stores and your phone's concerns have not been resolved after our representatives did some troubleshooting steps, you may need to consider a phone replacement. Keep in mind that your phone includes a manufacturer’s warranty that will provide a Certified Like New Replacement phone identical to your current device. Certified Like-New Replacement Program -
I have had the 3g, 3gs, 4 and little if any problems. I made a major mistake buying the 4s. What a horrible phone. I must say, apple service is at best, BAD. Here are the basics. I am on the same network, I call the same people, I use the same text messages as I did with the 4. With the 4s, I will call someone and they will not be able to hear me. I have to hang up and recall. Or the phone just does nothing when I press call. Text messages acts like they send but when I go back the have been sent. Sometimes the calls go direct to voice mail.
Here's what I have done. Reset, did not help. Called apple, advisor said she would call me back in 5 minutes, after waiting for 5 days for the call, I recalled, they walked me through the same things I had already done, then said to take it to a store. So they set up an appointment for the only day I could get to it, 1 1/2 hours away, on my grand son's birthday. That was okay if they fixed it. So they hard reset it, we had to setup 4 email accounts, they would not allow me to restore because they said it was a software problem. So I had to download all the apps, lost a lot of data. No fun. But if it worked! So Monday back at work, guess what, same thing. When home and did another hard reset. Still no lick. Called apple again. They said they would replace my phone, all they needed was to put a hold on a credit card for $899 or drive a 1 1/2 hours to a store.
So anyone know a good andriod phone.
PS I got a email asking about the service each time and each time I told them what a horrible phone it was and how bad service was. I have yet to hear back. I guess they do not read them! You're not speaking to Apple on in this forum, nor will someone from Apple see this post. We are just users like you and I.
Have you tried to restore or reset your phone?
Or contact your carrier in re: to your sim card -
Jabber call to voice mail fails with fast busy over VPN
I have an issue that I ran into with CIPC phones over a VPN. If a CIPC phone called over a VPN and started ringing a phone the call would fail with fast busy at the time the call would be forwarded to voicemail. I found the issue was when remote the CIPC phone would negotiate the g.729 codec, when forwarded to a voicemail pilot over a SIP trunk set to g.711 the call would fail due to codec missmatch when no transcoders are present.
So now I am running into what I believe to be the same issue with Jabber, when on premise the calls to voice mail work just fine, but when remote they fail. I can directly call the voicemail pilot without error, but if calling a phone the call gets fast busy at the point we are forwarded to voicemail. Even though all my regions are set to talk to all other regions on G.711 and the voicemail SIP trunk is set to G.711, I believe with the new features in CUCM9 that a lower speed codec has been negotiated since the we are going over the VPN, or Jabber has done this as it knows it's over VPN (not sure). WIth CIPC I could go into the settings and turn off the Optimize for Bandwidth check box and the call would negotiate G.711. With Jabber I can't find anything that would tell my Jabber client to stay on G.711 and I can only imagine this is a codec missmatch as the following are true.
1. CIPC and Jabber share the same line
2. VPN established and CIPC optimised for low bandwidth un-checked
3. Over the same VPN the CIPC phone can leave a voicemail
4. Over the same VPN the Jabber client gets fast busy once forwarded to voicemail
5. Voicemail environment is Exchange-UM over SIP trunk
6. SIP trunk is assigned a Device Pool, that is assigned to a region that all other regions communicate G.711 to
7. On CIPC if optimised for low bandwidth is checked I get the exact same issue as I get with the Jabber client (fast busy when forwarded to voicemail)
Would anyone know what I can do in CUCM 9 to fix this issue, as said no issue when all devices are on premise. Wondering if there is a service parameter or a way to change the codec selection so the Jabber client attempts to always negotiate G.711. The correct answer would be to get some PVDM DSP resources and kick up a transcoder in my resource group, and that may be what I talk them into doing if I have no other options. We have been getting the exact same thing for almost a year now... since switching to FiOS Digital Voice in May of last year! Every time I call in to report it they 'escalate' the issue but it never gets resolved. The problem seems to be in the initial connection. Most of the time it works fine but, several times a month, after I call to get messages and it starts to play the new message it goes dead and I get the busy signal. I get the same message when I call back: “I’m sorry – that account is in use at this time. Please try again later!” I have even called in with my cell phone and get the same message! I HAVE EVEN used the Internet to see if I could get my messages and, when I hit Play, I get a pop-up saying: “Your Voice Mail box is currently in being accessed; please try again later. If the problem continues, please contact our Customer Support Center at 1-888-553-1555. We apologize for any inconvenience.” This is obviously a software bug that Verizon has no clue on how to troubleshoot OR fix!!! I wonder how many people have the problem and just don’t bother reporting it because of the hassle? When it first started happening they destroyed my entire mailbox and I had to re-enter the complete mailbox setup again – 3 times!!! NEVER let them talk you into that!!! It’s their problem and they need to fix it!!!!!!! I wish I could go back to the ‘normal’ voicemail we originally had… they want hundred$ to switch back because I’d be breaking my #$@%^&* contract! Good luck if you have Verizon………

When I dial the number provided to me to set up my voice mail, I get a message that I am entering an incorrect phone number. When I dial my new number directly to attempt to access voice mail that way, I get a rapid busy signal. I have attempted to call Tech Support but with on-hold waits of 45 minutes one time and over an hour the next, I simply give up (I don't have that much time to carry the phone around waiting to reach a live representative). Any ideas? Are these type of waits the norm for Fios Tech Support?
Solved!
Go to Solution.Huh, so I'm not the only one. Switched to FIOS (all 3 services) on 4/22 and it took until last night to get someone to turn on voicemail for the account. Today I went through the steps using the 888 number to set up my greeating and such.... but,.... there was no option to set up how many rings would trigger voicemail.
Called my home number to test and it just rings with no voicemail pickup. I do not look forward to calling the support number again and wading through all of the voice prompts and then waiting and waiting to get a real person.
Oh, and I followed the link on fhe voice page to download the PDF instructions. After logging on at the 888 number I'm suppsed to press "9"..... but that is an invalid choice.
I have to give Verizon credit, they've accomplished something that I thought was impossible -- they've made Comcast tech support look good.
Well done, Verzion... well done. -
Hi All,
We have a UC520 and the system is giving us an engaged tone when ever we dial voice mail from both our external and internal numbers. I have been going over and over the config and can not understand why we are getting an engaged signal when ever we ring voice mail. Below is the show run off the UC520, hopefully someone can spot some errors in it to suggest why it does not work as im close to hitting it with a large hammer

Unity 4.0 - Call Forwarding and Voice Mail
Here is the situation:
We have a DN (5301) that is not associated with a Unity mailbox but is on a 7970 phone. This extension is an "on call" number that is always forwarded to a technicans phone (local 4 digit ext or cell phone).
When a person calls 5301 I want the voicemail of the final destination to answer.
For instance if I had 5301 forwarded to 2000 - I would want 2000's voicemail to answer.
Is there a way to set this up?
Thanks in advance.
JeffHi Jeff,
Sadly this cannot be changed until Unity 5.x (the ability to choose "Last Redirecting Number" in not available in any other Unity version);
Here are the Unity 5.0 release notes;
Route Forwarded Calls by the First or Last Redirecting Number
Cisco Unity supports the option of routing calls based on either the first or last redirecting number when a call is forwarded to Cisco Unity.
Note the following:
This option requires Cisco Unity-CM TSP 8.1(2) or later.
This option is not supported by integrations through PIMG units.
This option can be changed through the Advanced Settings Tool (AST), which is available in Tools Depot.
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/unity/5x/release/notes/501curelnotes.html#wp507371
Call Information Exchanged by the Phone System and Cisco Unity
The phone system and Cisco Unity exchange call information to manage calls and to make the integration features possible. With each call, the following call information is typically passed between the phone system and Cisco Unity:
â¢The extension of the called party.
â¢The extension of the calling party (for internal calls) or the phone number of the calling party (if it is an external call and the phone system supports caller ID).
â¢The reason for the forward (the extension is busy, does not answer, or is set to forward all calls). There is also a reason code for Direct Calls.
Cisco Unified Communications Manager SCCP and SIP trunk integrations can also provide the following call information (the choice of first and last redirecting number is set in the Advanced Settings Tool, which is available in Tools Depot):
â¢Called number
â¢First redirecting number
â¢Last redirecting number
Note Cisco Unity can use either the first redirecting number or last redirecting number, depending on the setting in the Advanced Settings Tool, which is available in Tools Depot.

If this was just a one-up type of setup you can configure a Voicemail profile (in CCM) for 2000 and apply it to 5301 that will allow this type of Call Forward to 2000's mailbox. The fact that you need this for Multiple Tech's will not work. Is there any way the Techs could use a Shared Line? Then these solutions could be adapoted.
Or in Unity set up Alternate Extensions so that User A is an Alternate Extension for User B etc. Sharing a Cisco Unity Voice Mail Box between Two or More IP Phones
Configure Alternate Extensions
Open the Unity System Administrator web page.
Navigate to the subscriber's profile. Select Subscribers > Find and Select a Subscriber > Enter Subscriber Information then click Find and click the Subscriber's name for the subscriber that owns the primary phone (2000).
When the subscriber page comes up, select the Alternate Extensions option and click Add.
Enter the alternate extension number (in this case 5301) and click the Save icon.
From this good Unity doc;

Hope this helps!
