Direct upload from Photos app to Facebook & iOS Photos Album

When I use the Photos app to upload photos to Facebook, it places all of the pictures in an album called iOSPhotos.  There is no option to post them just to my normal Facebook Timeline. In other words, I'm forced to select an Album.
This is a problem because I get a huge mishmash of photos from different dates, times etc in this album called iOS Photos.  Instead of commenting on an individual upload, people end up commenting on the whole iOSPhotos album.  So you get a huge odd conversation appearing over time as more photos end up in there.
Apple, could you please allow us to upload a photo to the timeline, without forcing it into a specific album?  Or to allow us to create a new Album on the fly?

Once again, very aggressive and defensive response. Neither addresses the question nor aids in finding a workaround.
The Facebook api is open to all, and allows any album or the timeline to be specified. Many other apps and platforms manage that. So the Facebook end of this is available and ready to use.
It is an Apple choice to load to 1 specific album only, instead of offering the user a choice of album, or indeed the timeline. So the only part of this Facebook/Apple interface that needs a change to address this request is the Apple end.
My Android kit does this nicely enough, as does my Macbook Pro , its just my IOS devices that struggle.
It is Apple's absolute right to leave this as it is, presumably to nudge users further into the iCloud ecosystem, but it is a legitimate request and entirely within Apple's control to resolve.

    Hi there,
You're running an old version of Safari. Before troubleshooting, try updating it to the latest version: 6.0. You can do this by clicking the Apple logo in the top left, then clicking Software update.
You can also update to the latest version of OS X, 10.8 Mountain Lion, from the Mac App Store for $19.99, which will automatically install Safari 6 as well, but this isn't essential, only reccomended.
Thanks, let me know if the update helps,
    Nathan

  • Photos uploaded from iPhoto '11 to facebook keep removing themselves at random.

    Hi Guys and Girls,
My Photos uploaded from iPhoto '11 to facebook keep removing themselves at random. Who else is having this annoying issue?
    Cheers,
    Keegan

Do not use the iPhoto - Facebook link - as advertised changes on either side are automatically synced to the other - that is the way it works
If you do not want the features that iPhoto offers then upload directly form a web browser or other method

Greetings from a Photoshop Newbie. I need a computer, preferably a Mac laptop, with some serious processing power. I take photos with a Pentax 645Z; files are 50MB raw. I upload from Adobe Bridge and manipulate the photo, sometimes turning them into files in excess of 250MB. I cannot resize as the large files are needed for enlargements. Have all sorts of problems trying to manipulate, add effects and saving most large files. I need some serious processing power. Can anyone suggest what Mac i should purchase? I thank you in advance for your help :-)

It sounds as if you're having some system-related problems now, unrelated to processing power as such. In particular, a buggy video driver can cause everything to slow to a crawl.
Medium format files are big, true, but not so big as to cause significant slowdowns on a normally functioning and reasonably current computer. A laptop will always be slower than a well-equipped desktop system, though. Mac vs PC plays no part in this, performance is unrelated to platform.
Bottlenecks are different in ACR and Photoshop, so that should give you a clue. ACR is computing-intensive and mostly limited by CPU speed. Photoshop, however, is mostly bandwidth-intensive and mainly limited by memory and disk throughput. It's also sensitive to GPU issues.

  • HT4927 I have just downloaded iPhoto from the app store. The photo library from my old laptop was backed up on an external hard drive and I retrieved the photos from there.  Now when I open the photos on my new Mac Book Pro, they are small - am I missing

I have just downloaded iPhoto from the app store. The photo library from my old laptop was backed up on an external hard drive and I retrieved the photos from there.  Now when I open the photos on my new Mac Book Pro, they are small - am I missing something?
I am using 10.8.2 Mountain Lion btw

I dragged the Photo library icon from the backup drive on to iPhoto on the laptop
That means you imported one Library to another.
Never import one Library to another. Every version and thumbnail is imported like a distinct photo, you lose all your Albums, Keywords etc., the link between Original and Previews is destroyed, the non-destructive editing feature is ruined and so on. In summary: it's mess.
So the reason you're seeing small photos is because you're seeing the iPhoto thumbnails from the back up library.
    So, what to do?
Do you still have the back up? If so, trash this bunged up library and restore from the back up again. HOw to restore will depend entirely on how you made the back up, but no version of restoring includes importing the library.

    Hi Anjohi,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If you've edited photos on your iPad and only see the original version when you import them to your computer, the tips in this article may help:
iOS: Edited photos show original photo after import or in other apps

  • Photos app doesn't import photo labels

When I imported my iPhoto library to the Photos app, all the original photo labels from my cameras disappeared. How do I get them back? Is there a setting I needed to make at the time of the import?

Make sure the drive is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
    1. Quit Photos
    2. Copy the Photos Library from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
Now you have two full versions of the Library.
    3. On the Internal library, trash the Events you don't want there
Now you have a full copy of the Library on the External and a smaller subset on the Internal
    Some Notes:
As a general rule: when deleting photos do them in batches of about 100 at a time. iPhoto can baulk at trashing large numbers at one go.
You can choose which Library to open: Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library'
My personal take - fwiw - is to move to Lightroom.
Export the Jpegs at High Quality and write the tags to them. That ill leave you only having to tag the Raws in LR.
In LR you can have all your Masters on the external... And still edit by means of its Smart Preview feature even if you're not connected to the disk. Yes it costs more but you have more options that might meet your needs a little better.

  • How can you select which pictures to upload from camera? plus facebook ?

Is there any way to select which pictures from your digital camera you would like to upload on to iphoto? Or is the only way to upload all of the pictures on your camera? I have 214 pictures on my camera and 210 of them are already in iphoto...i only want to upload the new 4!
    Another question..
I am trying to upload my pictures on to Facebook, and they are significantly smaller than the pictures I uploaded via my PC. How can I get them to upload at normal size?
    THANKS!

    Re: the FaceBook problem
This sounds like you're uploading the Thumbnails that iPhoto uses to display the pics in the iPhoto Window not the pics themselves. Have you been uploading from the Data folder in the iPhoto Library Folder?
There are three ways (at least) to get files from the iPhoto Window.
    1. Drag and Drop: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
    2. File -> Export: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size.
    3. Show File: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.

  • Unable to share videos from YouTube app to Facebook on iPhone

  • IOS photo app vs iPhoto, keywords, smart albums, face detection?

    greetings,
i have some questions about iOS photos app in comparison to iPhoto (in 10.8).  i've done a little searching on the web and in the forum, but didn't see this covered...
i always sync my iPhone to my mac, copy/import my photos to iPhoto, and use iPhoto to organize my photos.  in iPhoto, i tag photos (keywords) and use "smart albums" to access all my photos based upon the keyword tags.  face detection in iPhoto is GREAT!.   i have all my friends faces named and finding them by "people" grouping is fantastic.  the down side to all of this is that i have everything working great on my mac, but usually i'm using the photos app in the iPhone to show pics to my friends since that is what i have with me.  i'm not sure if this information in iPhoto ever gets synced back to my iPhone.
1- does the iOS photos app have any of these features from iPhoto?
in other words, can i tag photos, lable the faces of friends, set up smart albums in iOS photos?  if so, please point me to some info.  i haven't seen an obvious way to do any of this.
2- can i sync what i do in iPhoto back to my iPhone?
in other words, can i get the tags, peoples' names on their faces, and smart albums copied from iPhotos back to my iPhone?  is there some setting or command in iPhoto, or somewhere else?
3- i just turned on photostream.  can/does this iPhoto data transfer via photostream to the iPhone?
    i have an iPhone 4.
i am just about ready to upgrade from iOS 5 to iOS 6.  so if any of these features are specific to iOS 6, please let me know.
i'd appreciate it if you could mention if there is anything special about iOS in the iPad, because a friend has asked me how she can do in her iPad (iOS 6), what i do with iPhoto in my mac.
thank you for any suggestions or advice.

  • IOS 8 photos app in reflation to photo stream

I Updated my iPhone 5c from iOS 7 to iOS 8; w/ iOS 7, I had about 1000 photos in photo stream, but only about 79 on my iPhone hard drive. W/ iOS 8, the photo stream has been replaced with iCloud photo library, but all my photo stream pictures are gone!! What do I do to get them back, I had alot of irreplaceable moments saved on there.

Try going into Settings/Photos & Camera and toggle My Photo Stream OFF and ON. From what I have read, this has successfully caused other peoples Photo Stream (in the combined "Recent" Album) to repopulate. See if that works for you.

  • Windows 8.1 Photos app doesn't display photos from Home Server V1 network drive

I have my photos stored on a Home Server V1 network drive (\\homeserver\photos) and I have added the drive to the Pictures library. When I open the library in desktop Explorer I can see all the photos
and my Photos live tile shows photos from the network drive. When I open the Photos app I can see all the folders. However, when I open a folder I get the message 'There are no files or folders in this view.'
    Any help is appreciated.
I am running Windows 8.1 with the latest updates.

Adding another voice to this - I hit exactly the same issue myself yesterday.  I haven't got the device with me now, but as the original poster says:
I have \\server\photos mapped to my p:\ drive in Windows 8.1, and this is in my pictures library.
The p:\ drive has many (100s) subfolders, which I can browse using Windows explorer and desktop apps like Picasa.
When I start the "photos" app, I see all my folders (each with a thumbnail picture), but when I click into a folder I just get the "There are no files or folders in this view".
It's probably worth saying that as this is Home Server v1, I had a bit of fun and games to get permissions right to access the share:
I log into Windows 8.1 (on a Surface Pro 3) using my Microsoft account
I've mapped the home server photo drive to "P:\" on my SP3; when I did this I provided the admin user ID and password for the home server and told windows to remember the credentials.
I added p:\ to my pictures library in Windows 8.1 on the SP3.
FWIW - I use a similar mechanism to add music from my home server to my music library, but the XBox Music app seems to be able to see individual tracks OK.
    Any ideas?

  • Photo app problems on iOS 5

I recently upgraded to iOS 5, but in the Photos application I can not see any options to edit the photo. By the way, I have a third-generation iPod touch. Thank you

I see nothing in the iOS 5 iPod Users Guide that says that editing capibility was added to the Photo app. Adding albums and some other minor changes were made though.
