Direct upload to iBooks or use Smashwords

I've self-published and uploaded my book ("Menopause in Manhattan") to amazon and barnes and noble. Now its time for Apple! Not sure if I should upload directly to iBooks or use Smashwords. Any advice out there? Thanks!

Hmm, not very good at marketing, more technical.
Off the top of my head:
I see you have a web site, terrific. Could you add an interactive blog? Could you add video clips to your Amazon Author Page and Youtube and your website?
Add all your great reviews to your own web site.
Could you identify email addresses for your potential target audience and email them?
Do what you have to do to get more than the single review on Amazon.co.uk.
Could you advertise on goodreads.com?
Can you get anyone to interview you and put that on your blog/web site?
Is there a sequel or a likelihood of one? Tell people about it. I think many of us like to think there will be more of a godd thing!

Can I upload to Amazon Cloud Storage using the Play Memories Direct Upload app?

A note in the app manual says you can add network services directly from the Play Memories Apps page, but I don't see anything indicating how.

How do I upload a iBook to the iPad

Help -- I need to trouble shoot my boss through uploading a iBook on to his iPad. Any easy one, two, threes? I haven't done it before.

If he has the book on his computer's iTunes then he connect the iPad to his computer and select it on the left-hand sidebar of his computer's iTunes, and then use the Books tab on the right-hand side of iTunes to select and sync it to the iBooks app on his iPad. Or he can re-download it directly on the iPad via the Purchased tab in the ibookstore in the iBooks app.

One additional question: When I import info records using LSMW, one condition record (PB00) is created automatically. Is it possible to change the validity of that condition record using LSMW, too? Or can I only create new condition records?

Everything works beautifully on the iPad through Preview, and validates through iTunes Producer up until the attempted upload. Today I received the same error that you all have been discussing. I tried selecting the DRM
and this did not work for me, though I'm glad it did for some. Here's what I did as a work-around. . .
Since iBooks Author did not have a problem with Videos, I simply used one of my video programs, ScreenFlow to turn the audio into a video file m4v. I added an image and extended the length or timing of the image to span the length of the audio file. Then exported as an .mov. I then opened QuickTime and opened the file and exported the file to iTunes.
You can use iMovie, Camtasia or any other progam that will allow you to export the audio as a movie file. Does this make sense? I hope this helps, at least in the short-term.

thank you Shoot. I was afraid that the n word would answer that querie. OK. Please recommend a FREE software that I can use to import on to the hard drive that is reliable and w/out error messages e.g. "Browser will close" as in sonys PMH a new replacement for PMB that fails horribly. I uninstalled and installed the Sony PMH four or five times w/Sony "Techs" [I you want to call them that]. And they admitted that the software has problems. The final solution from the "tech" on the phone was that to just keep on uninstalling and install until it worked. Wow! That coming from Sony the electronics Giant. How can I upload multiple photos without using an app?

I'm a special education teacher, and I teach a photography lab that teaches students how to scan and edit photos. We use the school's set of Ipad2's in order to crop the photos since the majority of students I have don't have the hand eye coordination neccisary to crop using a desktop computer and mouse. The problem I'm running into, however, is that our IT department wont let me download any apps onto the iPads. I've asked on six seperate occasions in order for them to update the iPads to ios7 and to give teachers the permission to install apps-- the first request coming at the start of the school year-- and they havent responded to any of them, so I'm not holding my breath.
Currently, I'm uploading all of the photos my students scan to my personal dropbox account, and the students access that and download each photo individually onto their ipads. Not the easiest thing for special education students to do, but its doable. I have not found an easy way to get the cropped photos off the ipads, however. Any ideas? I could attach each photo to an email, allthough thats more trouble than its worth most times. Dropbox will only allow me to upload one photo at a time, and keeps overwriting the photo I previously uploaded with the new one if I try to upload a second photo. Photo stream is the obvious answer, but icloud is disabled on all the ipads and only IT can turn it back on, something they've been unwiling to do

I worked in IT on the university level for four years so it's really frustrating to see more safeguards in place in a public school district any university. If we're trying to teach these kids to be ready for real life and then block out and don't let them use half the technology they're going to encounter in real life, well I just don't get that. But that's another rant for another time.
How I do it is I save all of the photos my students scan onto my external hard drive, then transfer them to my personal computer and upload them to dropbox using Dropbox for windows (or whatever the desktop application is called) . I then have my students go to dropbox.com on the iPad, login as me, and go through each photo, saving each to the iPad as they go.
I should have said upfront that when I try to connect the iPad to my personal computer it charges the iPad but won't recognize under my computer or show up in iTunes, so I am unable to see any of the data on it. I'm pretty sure it's not the 30 pin connector that's malfunctioning because I've tried with two of them. I can only check if it registers with iTunes on my personal computer because I can't download iTunes on school computers since I don't have administrator privileges

After iOS 8 update can't upload photos to Facebook using the FB app, it says no connection

SInce iOS 8.1 update which was hours ago im not able to upload photos to Facebook using its app, I can straight from the photo album but that's not how I'm used to neither how I like it, I get a "no internet connection" error, it's happening either ways on 3G or Wifi

Wife had the same problem which I have just fixed by deleting the FB app and reloading it. Works fine now.

I had downloaded a lot of free books in the past as a trial when iBooks was first released and since then I have decided I no longer want them, because of this I hid them from the purchased section of the iBooks store. I would still like to keep this book available in the cloud incase I want to download it again in the future. You do not HAVE to put a © symbol on each photo. If you own the photos, you hold the copyright. However, nothing stops a viewer from downloading the photo and using it without your permission.
To protect yourself there are alternatives: put a ©2013 by ME in the description of each photo. Always add your copyright notice to the metadata in every photo.
I once had several of my photos taken off the internet and then used in a commercial catalog without my permission. I was outraged, the catalog company was naive, and in the end I received $100 compensation and an apology. - Fabini

It is as if the server has decided that the client has timed out during the file upload. The default setting is 30 seconds for AcceptTimeout in the magnus.conf file. This should be ample to get the file across, even increasing this to 2 minutes just produces the same error after 2 minutes. Any help appreciated. Apologies if this is not the correct forum for this, I couldn't see one for iPlanet and Web, many thanks, Kieran.

You didnt mention which version of IWS. follow these steps.
(1)Goto Web Server Administration Server, select the server you want to manage.
(2)Select Preference >> Perfomance Tuning.
(3)set HTTP Persistent Connection Timeout to your choice (eg 180 sec for three minutes)
(4) Apply changes and restart the server.
*Setting the timeout to a lower value, however, may prevent the transfer of large files as timeout does not refer to the time that the connection has been idle. For example, if you are using a 2400 baud modem, and the request timeout is set to 180 seconds, then the maximum file size that can be transferred before the connection is closed is 432000 bits (2400 multiplied by 180)

How do I upload iWeb-site without using 'Flie Publish' feature?

Due to corporate firewall restrictions I cannot use iDisk, Sync or iWeb to connect to .mac, which presented a problem when I wanted to Publish my iWeb site.
I have uploaded the site [via webdav, with Transmit] to the Sites folder of my iDisk, but I can't find my site when I enter my .mac URL into my browser (http://web.mac.com/myusername or http://homepage.mac.com/myusername).
Theoretically, is this the right way to upload to iDisk without using iWeb? Is there anything else I need to do to link my URL to the files in iDisk/Sites?
