DirectAccess Connectivity Assistant DTE Tunnel Settings

I am trying to setup the DirectAccess Connectivity Assistant per the Solution Accelerator "Deploying, Managing, and Using the Microsoft DirectAccess Connectivity Assistant".
Does anyone know where to find the DTE Tunnel IPv6 Addresses?
DTE
Type: A collection of IPv6 addresses that each identify a DirectAccess server.
Default: None
Description: Specifies the dynamic tunnel endpoints (DTEs) of the IPsec tunnels that enable DirectAccess. It is through these tunnels that the DCA attempts to access the resources that are specified in the CorporateResources setting. By default, the DCA uses the same DirectAccess server that the DirectAccess client computer connection is using. In default configurations of DirectAccess, there are typically two DTEs, one for the infrastructure tunnel, and one for the user tunnel. You should configure one DTE for each tunnel. Each entry consists of the text PING: followed by the IPv6 address, for example: PING:2001:3039::0001.
Important
If your DirectAccess configuration uses the Full Intranet Access or Selected Server Access models, where IPsec tunnel mode is used to connect to the DirectAccess infrastructure servers, and a separate IPsec transport mode tunnel is used to access shared resources that are required by the user, configuring one or more servers in the DTE setting is required.

Thanks for the info Jason....
Here is a sterilized output just for documentation purposes, using the
netsh advfirewall monitor show mmsa command.
DTE's are in bold below.

I get that message upon logon to the system.  The full message of the error box is
The DirectAccess Connectivity Assistant service is not running.  Restart the service, or contact the site administrator.
BUT...it is running.  It is like the DCA isn't waiting long enough.  If I click OK, and then go check DCA it is connected fine and I have access to network resources.
Is something not right and this is just a sympton?
    Confused...

I've seen this before. It happened for me when the Connectivity Assistant was installed but not configured. Have you configured the Group Policy with the settings the Connectivity Assistant needs?

    Hi,
Firstly, I would like to confirm with you if it worked before on Windows 7 Enterprise N version.
As I known, following are some additional features that Windows 7 Enterprise N edition has and other versions does not have:
    a. Direct Access
    b. Branch cache
    c. Federated search
You need to meet the following requirements to install the DA connectivity assistant.
Windows 7 Enterprise, Windows 7 Ultimate
    1. 10 MB of disk space.
    2. 10 MB of RAM.
    3. Microsoft Word or Microsoft Word Viewer (available as a free download) can be used to view Word documents.
I would like to suggest you download and install it from official website.

  • Network Connectivity Assistant in Windows 8.1

What happened to the Network Connectivity Assistant in Win8.1? In Win8 it would launch a "DirectAccess" dialog like the one in this blog:
    http://blog.msgeneral.nl/2012/03/direct-access-connectivity-assistant-in.html
    But in Win8.1 double-clicking and righ-clicking doesn't do anything:

As Richard points out you can only access the NCA via the following.
To access the DirectAccess connection properties in Windows 8.1, press
Window Key + I, click Change PC Settings, and then click
    Network.
Highlight Connections and click Workplace Connection.
It is a step back for those that are used to the DCA or Win8 NCA.
Note: also you need to have a email client enabled on the client to get the logs.
Also there is the "Microsoft DirectAccess Client Troubleshooting Tool "

  • VPN Connection assistant (VPNUK via OpenVPN) cannot change network connection

I have an issue with using my VPN assistant via VPNUK.net.
The connection assistant will update the VPN connection with a new server IP and connection configuration based on what you select in the application.
There is no error specifically about the settings, but when trying to establish a connection im told that the connection failed. I then manually check the VPN in network connections and the new settings are not applied.
I suspect that the application does not have access to change the network settings, even if i run as administrator.
Are there any other privileges i need to set? Only a problem in windows 10.
    Cheers
    Mark

    Hi Mark,
My name is Adam and I am with the Windows Beta Networking support team. I would recommend running procmon (click
    here
for download link) when reproducing the behavior. You can then filter on the VPNUK process and scan for any status results such as Access Denied.
Do you get any error messages or warnings logged in event viewer at all?
Have you also engaged with VPNUK to see if they have seen issues with their client when installed on Windows 10 Preview?

  • ORA Connect via SSH Tunnel on Windows failed! LINUX works ...

    Hello again,
i tried to establish a Oracle Client Connection via SSH Tunnel on WinXP Pro.
    1. Opened SSH-Tunnel Connection with plink (putty)
    TUNNEL: 10.5.1.111:1521 => localhost:1521
(plink works fine with telnet, MySQL Client and other stuff)
    2. Connected with Oracle Client on Tunnel END => Localhost, Port 1521
    3. WIth ORA8i i got: Paket Error, With ORA10g i get: TNS: no listener
plink works fine, so i dont think the problem is located there.
i tried, tnsnames.ora, easyconnect and TNS-Less. So i guess, its not related to the connection method.
i tried the same on LINUX ... ssh tunnel and sqlplus connect ... IT WORKS !
Does Oracle need an aditional Port?

  • DirectAccess (2012 R2) Force Tunnel & Non-IE Browsers

I'm setting up a DirectAccess solution with Force Tunneling enabled (don't ask why, the client demanded it). The solution is working flawlessly except for internet access for non-IE browsers. I have a proxy server entry in the nrpt for the '.' dnssuffix
and IE is honoring that entry and routing all traffic over the DA tunnel to the proxy server correctly.
however, non-IE browsers like firefox and chrome, while they are browsing the internet off of the DA infrastructure tunnel, are ignoring the proxy entry and browsing directly. (in the environment, the DA Server itself has access to the internet that
    is not proxy-filtered)
It appears that the proxy server entry in the nrpt is only for IE, and not a global "client" setting. Firefox can still browse the web, but it appears that it's simply throwing the traffic at the DA server directly, which is in turn using its internet
access as defined by the my clients firewall rules for infrastructure servers.
or, am I missing something? it seems that the proxy server specified in the nrpt for the '.' dnssuffix should apply to all client traffic and not just IE...

For anyone that happens to run across a similar issue, here's how I solved it:
The main problem was that the '.' dns suffix in the nrpt policy that was set to route that suffix to a specified intranet proxy server didn't seem to apply to all traffic, non-ie broswers (such as firefox) would send traffic over the DA tunnel according
to the force tunnel configuration, but wouldn't have their internet based traffic routed to the proxy server. instead, they would send internet traffic to the DA server, which would access the internet directly, effectively bypassing the corporate proxy and
    it's filtering rules.
the infrastructure design problem at the client was that the server subnet is granted direct internet access that is not proxied, so the DA server had the ability to forward 6to4 internet traffic directly.
we ended up changing the windows firewall on the DA server so that the default outgoing policy was set to block, and created explicit allow rules for only the internal subnets and the proxy servers, effectively killing the DA servers internet access, but
allowing traffic to the internal infrastructure.
this in turn killed DA clients' ability to browse the internet unfiltered. for non-IE clients or ftp applications a proxy server will now have to be manually (or potentially through group policy) be set, but it closed the loophole in the forced tunnel configuration
    for DA client's web browsing.

  • I keep getting a message on startup saying 'Do you want the application "KodakAiOBonjourAgent .app" to accept incoming network connections?' It says settings may be changed in the Firewall pane of Security? Doesn't matter what I click (Deny/Submit).

I keep getting a message on startup saying 'Do you want the application "KodakAiOBonjourAgent .app" to accept incoming network connections?' It says settings may be changed in the Firewall pane of Security but I don't see how.  Doesn't matter what I click (Deny/Submit). The message still pops up on starup. I have a Kodak printer and am running Mavericks but I don't think it started when I upgraded.

Just fixed this on my machine, the easiest way to remove this pop-up assuming you are no longer needing that software to print is the following:
    Open Finder
    Go > Go To Folder...
    Type In: "~/Library/Application Support"
    Delete All Folders Named Kodak
    Open System Preferences
    Go to "Security & Privacy"
Click the lock and enter your admin password
    Click the Firewall Tab
    Go to "Firewall Options..."
    Find KodakAiO
Right-click KodakAiOBonjourAgent or equivalent (I forget the exact name)
    Click "Show in Finder"
Go Back to a folder and delete the Kodak Folder there.
Remove Kodak from Firewall Options by selecting it and clicking the " - " button the base of the list.
       or
    Open Finder
    Go > Go To Folder...
    Type In: "~/Library/Printers"
    Delete All Folders Named Kodak
I'm going off memory, so If I forgot something let me know.

rtdolfan13 I have the same problem with my new mac Mac OS X (10.6.7). My other mac worked fine. I work for the same company as you also.. please let me know if you found a solution and I will do the same. Our "help desk" does not know anything about macs which makes no sense to me. We have 4 mac users in our office and we can not log on with the VPN.. kinda frustrating.
hope we can resolve this soon!

  • HT4623 How do I get back to Setup Assistant after the settings have been entered?  I need to get back to Setup Assistant to back up the data that was on my iphone 4S to my new 5S

I purchased a new iphone 5s yesterday from Verizon.  They had a problem setting it up.  They went through Setup Assistant setting up the phone.  They could not get my back up I had on iCloud, so they just skipped it.  Now I do now have all my apps or other data.
I have been doing some reading and it said to go back to Setup Assistant.  I can't firgure out how to do that.
    Can anyone help me?

Are you wanting to restore from your backup?  IF so, go to settings - general - reset - erase all contents or settings this will wipe yoru phone clean, then you'll get the option to restore from backup.

  • Laserjet P1102w - unable to connect and update wireless settings

Hello, I'm hoping someone can help me with this. I have a laserjet P1102w, which was working beautifully on my wireless home network. I recently changed the network configuration and router. I need to update my IP address in the printer settings.
I am running on Windows 7, and when I connect to the printer with a USB cable, the computer recognizes the printer but it does not appear in the control panel. I have updated all the software (and flash) successfully on the printer, and still nothing.
I tried this on 3 different computers, still the auto-run software does not appear, nor am I able to access the printer software. I've changed the cable and nothing.... Thanks for your suggestions.
