Directory 5.2 sp6 zip distribution on sparse zone?

Hi,
We are trying to figure out if Directory server 5.2 sp6, zip distribution is supported on sparse zone?
We can't find the info on from web? We know that package version needs full local zone, but what about the zip version?
Any pointers or RTFMs?
br,
Timo

Hi Timo,
The Zip distribution has low adherence on the OS and should work in a sparse zone.
However I don't know if it is officially supported i.e. it has been fully qualified by the Quality Engineering team.
Support of sparse zone has not been part of the marketing requirements for the DS 5.2.x series.
Directory Server 6.x is fully supported in zones, sparse or full.
Regards,
Ludovic.

• WLS 12.1.2.0 Supplemental Zip Distribution README_SUPP.txt

I think there may be a few things wrong with this READ_SUPP.txt.
First, I'll just copy and paste the file.
Then, in a subsequent post, I'll raise my first question.
Here is the copy and paste...
README_SUPP.txt
WLS Supplemental Zip Distribution for Oracle WebLogic Server 12.1.2.0
The WLS supplemental zip distribution is intended for development use.
It is supported on Windows, Linux and Mac OS X systems.
It contains the necessary artifacts to develop and test applications on WebLogic Server.
WLS supplemental zip requires that the primary zip distribution is already set up and is ready to use.
Supplemental zip contains samples, evaluation database (Derby) and L10N console help files.
The following instructions should help in quickly setting up the extra components in WLS via the supplemental zip.
Please refer to the general WLS documentation for detailed instructions.
QUICKSTART
1. Ensure that WLS has been installed under MW_HOME (eg: /home/myhome/mywls/wls12120)
using the zip distribution - wls1212_dev.zip
2. Extract the contents of the supplemental zip (eg: extract into /home/myhome/mywls )
wls12120 directory will be automatically created during extraction.
3. Setup JAVA_HOME and MW_HOME variables in the current shell.
The script will attempt to extract MW_HOME and JAVA_HOME from the WLS installation.
If this fails, you are required to set them up prior to running the script.
Linux $ export JAVA_HOME=/home/myhome/myjavahome
$ export MW_HOME=/home/myhome/mywls/wls12120
Mac
$ export JAVA_HOME=/System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.7/Home
$ export MW_HOME=/home/myhome/mywls/wls12120
Windows > set JAVA_HOME=C:\home\myhome\myjavahome
> set MW_HOME=C:\home\myhome\mywls\wls12120
This version of WLS requires JDK 1.7.
Ensure that you have the proper JDK version installed.
4. Run the installation configuration script in the MW_HOME directory, C:\wl\wls12120 .
(This step is required to be run only once.
If you move the installation to another location/machine, you need to rerun this step)
If the username and password are not provided, the script will prompt for them.
Linux/Mac $ ./run_samples.sh <username> <password> or
$ ./run_samples.sh
Windows > run_samples.cmd <username> <password> or
> run_samples.cmd
This step creates the sample domains with the user provided username and password ( admin & admin1admin, respectively ).
The sample domains should be created in MW_HOME/wlserver/samples.
5. WLS can be started from these sample domains by issuing startWebLogic command.
This will also bring up the WLS console in the default browser.
6. Start a browser and open up url - 'http://localhost:7001/console' to administer the server.
WHAT IS INCLUDED
# Samples
# Derby DB (for use with Samples)
# L10N versions of WLS console help files
CLEANUP
The supplemental zip contents are interleaved with the base zip contents.
You have to delete the MW_HOME directory which will delete both the WLS installation as well as the supplemental zip contents.
KNOWN ISSUES
# [MAC OS X] Supplemental zip configuration (run_samples.sh|cmd) may fail if the JAVA_HOME has soft links or dummy JRE files.
Ensure that files in JAVA_HOME have not been tampered with.

My first question regards step number 2...
2. Extract the contents of the supplemental zip (eg: extract into /home/myhome/mywls )
wls12120 directory will be automatically created during extraction.
The file name is wls12120_dev_supplemental.zip .
When I put this file in the mywls directory and Extract All ( using Windows Explorer, if that matters ),
the directory created is actually named " wls12120_dev_supplemental " and it has 1 sub-directory named " wls12120 ".
So, is there something wrong with Step 2's text ?
Is there something wrong with how I interpreted Step 2's text ?
Is the actual directory and sub-directory I see being created the successful response / result ? Or did this step fail ?

• WLS Zip distribution and Fusion Middleware Control components

i am working with a WLS Zip distribution installation and i'm not seeing opmnctl or any reference to the Fusion Middleware Control that i need to install Oralce Webforms.
what components install do we need to get this install up to speed?
thanks.

Hi,
WLS ZIP distribution is only intended to be used for only developers.
As per your requirement in order to install Oracle Forms you need to install .jar or .exe or .bin file depending upon you OS.
Then install Oracle Forms 11g.
So request to follow the below steps if your OS is a 64 bit :-
1)Download and Install JDK 1.6.0_XXX from the below URL :-
Java Archive Downloads - Java SE 6
2)Download and Install Weblogic 10.3.6 which is certified with Forms and Reports 11.1.2.2.0 or Forms 11.1.1.7.0 which could be downloaded from the below URL :-
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/weblogic/downloads/wls-main-097127.html
Section :- Oracle WebLogic Server 11gR1 (10.3.6) + Coherence - Package Installer
In order to install Weblogic set you java path to point to the JDK 1.6.0_xxxx then run the below command :-
java -jar wls1036_generic.jar [ If the OS is 64 bit ]
3) Download Forms and Reports 11.1.2.2.0 or Forms 11.1.1.7.0 from the below URL 's :-
Forms Downloads</title><meta name="Title" content="Forms Downloads"><meta name="…
Incase if your OS is 32 bit then download the .bin or .exe file for Weblogic from the above URL's and also the respective Forms binary.

Prakash.

• HELP - Sparse Zone Directory Access

Hello. I want to install a zone that will serve as a webserver for a dynamic site, using PHP and MySQL. I installed a sparse zone yesterday. When I tried to configure MySQL today, I found I was unable to because files/directories that need to be changed/removed by ./mysql-test-run are mounted as read only. I thought to myself, "Okay, We'll install a whole zone," but there is insufficient disk space. I am leaving this job tomorrow or the next day and I do not have time to do the research I would normally do to solve this problem (and no one else--I work in a biology lab--will be around to work on it after I leave). Therefore, I am asking a favor: can someone tell me exactly what I need to do in order to install MySQL on the sparse zone? I am very sorry about this; I cannot justify asking it. I'm begging. And I'm desperate. Time is an issue here, so please respond as quickly as you can. Thank you very much. Very much. Please.
JJ

This is what we do, based on something I saw on Big Admin back in the day...very useful for Apache, MySQL, etc.
Assuming your zone is named 'mustard' and is in /zones:
mkdir /zones/mustard/local
zonecfg -z mustard
add fs
set dir=/usr/local
set special=/zones/mustard/local
set type=lofs
add options [rw,nodevices]
end
verify
commit
exit
zoneadm -z mustard reboot
After your zone reboots you will have /usr/local as its own file system within the zone.

• Sparse zones live upgrade

Hi
I have problem with live upgrade on solaris 10 9/10 to 8/11 on sparse zone.
The installation on global zone is good but sparse zone cannnot boot because zonepath changed.
bash-3.2# zoneadm list -cv
ID NAME STATUS PATH BRAND IP
0 global running / native shared
- pbspfox1 installed /zoneprod/pbspfox1-s10u10-baseline native excl
the initial path is /zoneprod/pbspfox1
#zfs list
zoneprod/pbspfox1@s10u10-baseline 22.4M - 2.18G -
zoneprod/pbspfox1-s10u10-baseline
# luactivate zoneprod/pbspfox1@s10u10-baseline
ERROR: The boot environment Name <zoneprod/pbspfox1@s10u10-baseline> is too long - a BE name may contain no more than 30 characters.
ERROR: Unable to activate boot environment <zoneprod/pbspfox1@s10u10-baseline>.
how to upgrade pbspfox1?
Please help
Walter

I'm not exactly sure what happened here but the zone name doesn't change. If the zone patch is wrong, I'd try using zonecfg to change the zone path to the proper value and then boot the zone normally.
zonecfg -z pbspfox1
set zonepath=/zone/pbspfox1 (or whatever is the proper path)
verify
commit
exit
zoneadm -z pbspfox1 boot
If the zone didn't get properly updated, you might be able to update it by detaching the zone:
zoneadm -z pbspfox1 detach
and doing an update reattach
zoneadm -z pbspfox1 attach -u
Disclaimer: All of the above was done from memory without testing, I may have gotten some things wrong.
Hopefully this will help. I've had similar issues in the past but I'm not sure I've had exactly the same problem so I can't tell for sure whether this will help you or not. It is what I'd try. Of course, try to avoid getting yourself into a position where you can't back something out if necessary. This kind of thing can be messy and may require more than one try. If a remember correctly there were some issues with the live upgrade software as shipped with Solaris 10 8/11. I'd get it patched up to current levels ASAP to avoid additional issues.

• SUN JES Web Server 2005/04 6.1SP5 in a sparse zone on Solaris 10 ?

Can I run the web server inside a sparse zone ? Strictly speaking I would like to know that about every single one of the JES components but the Docs are quite miracoulous about that one ;)

- Web Server does run inside sparse zones.

• Communications Suite 5 in Sparse Zones

My machine has one NIC and one public IP
I've been able to setup zones on my Solaris 08/07 x86 machine in this manner:
3 sparse zones are on a private network (192.168.0.x) and have access to the internet via virtual interfaces of the physical NIC.
From outside the machine, services are available on on the machine's public IP, using NAT and IPF I have a service like SSH forwarded to a zone. For example: ssh -l jdoe -p 2222 public ip (or fqhdn) gets me into a particular zone based on my ipnat.conf.
I'm not sure I can do anything name based with the zones as far as forwarding the traffic appropriately based on name, especially with only one IP... or if this is a requirement for such an installation.
My question here is: Would it be possible to do an installation of Communications Suite 5 that uses my zones - they would talk to each other on the local network, but be accessed by clients via one IP (and/or name) on the physical NIC.
Would you recommend certain components on the global zone? Or would a scenario like:
Dir in zone a
Mail servers in zone b
and Web server in zone c
work?
My uncertainty is in how the components will talk to each other as:
Currently, on the inside, the zones are reachable only on their private IPs and actual ports - so once inside the global zone: ssh -l jdoe -p 2222 public ip (or fqhdn) doesn't work - I have to use the private IP and actual port, e.g. ssh -l jdoe -p 22 192.168.0.10 (or host name as mapped in /etc/hosts). Not sure if there is any fix for this, maybe further ipnat, ipf rules. Is this even a problem? Might this be transparent to end-user?
Thanks for any insights,
s7

I got this working. But on my first go, I had a problem. Without the /etc/hosts entries, I was forced by the installer to use the local zone hostname during the WS, AM, DA, and CE installs; the problem is AM would redirect to this un-DNS-resolvable local zone name - e.g. when calling: http://gz.foo.bar.com/amconsole it would redirect to: http://silverzone.foo.bar.com/amconsole, which failed outside of the /etc/hosts environment.
Here's what worked on the second go:
Each zone's /etc/hosts files have entries for each other; and one -its primary entry- calling itself the GZ name.
This allows the WS/AM/DA/CE to use the 1 DNS resolvable hostname I have (gz.foo.bar.com), and avoids AM redirecting to an non DNS resolvable zone name.
For example, here's the silverzone's /etc/hosts file:
# Internet host table
# ::1 localhost
127.0.0.1 localhost
192.168.0.80 gz.foo.bar.com silverzone.foo.bar.com silverzone loghost
192.168.0.60 orangezone.foo.bar.com orangezone
192.168.0.70 purplezone.foo.bar.com purplezone
During the install parts, (except for the DS itself, where I did use the GZ hostname), when it wanted the LDAP host or URL, I used the zone name - e.g. purplezone.foo.bar.com:389 - because if I used the gz.foo.bar.com name, it wouldn't work - because LDAP's on a different zone.
This doesn't appear to be a problem as the LDAP name-based communication seems to happen entirely internally.
For CE config: Since messaging and calendaring servers are on a different zone than CE/WS, I had to use their zone names when referring to the host/port ME and Cal. Exp. are listening on - I couldn't use the GZ name. Again, as each zone also thinks its the GZ - it would try to find those servers/ports on itself, and those servers are listening on a different zone.
Basically, I tried to use the GZ name during the install wherever it would let me, and I increased the places it would by having the /etc/hosts entries. When I couldn't use the GZ hostname, I used the appropriate local zone names.
My sequence was something like this (I used "configure now" option):
0> install shared components and message queue in GZ
1> purplezone: install DS and preparation script - start server, run prep script
2> orangezone: install messaging and calendar servers
3> silverzone: install WS, DA, CE, and AM (use GZ name for AM hostname)
4> silverzone: configure DA
5> orangezone: configure messaging an calendar
6> silverzone: configure CE
For calendar, I did have to edit the ics.conf and replace the entries for orangezone with gz.foo.bar.com.
This thread helped me setup the inter-zone networking:

• Is it possible to install dsee7 into a solaris 10 sparse zone?

hello all,
i'm trying to install DSEE7 on a Sun T2000 (solaris 10 sparc) into a zone.
The following command never returns:
ldap1-root% /local/dsee7/bin/dsccsetup status
DSCC Agent is not registered in Cacao
DSCC Registry has not been created yet
ldap1-root% /local/dsee7/bin/dsccsetup cacao-reg
Configuring Cacao...
In the official doc 820-4807, p29, they begin to pre-configure DSCC (page 29), but they don't say if this is mandatory to have DSCC agent running? and what happens if i install DSCC Application server on a different machine?
Thanks in advance for help,
gerard

i've read that they "should" work fine also, but i'm trying to figure out HOW to actually get it to install. when i insert disc 1 of the CS4 discs into my imac, the installer doesn't autostart. the readme says in that case to double-click on the "setup mac os" icon located in the application folder at the root level of the disc. at the root level of the disc there is an "adobe cs4" folder and an "autoplay" folder; neither contains such an icon. these discs worked fine when i installed the suite on my laptop - the installer started right up. so i'm stuck.

Hi
Whatever file exist in directory should execute with out any condition because they delete all files after exection of my process chain. They are using another process chain once a day for deletion of all files in that directory.
So directory always contains fresh files.
Here by using routine in infopackge i am unable to run all files one by one at a time.
As of my knowledge by using infopackage we can run only one file at a time.
Here my question is , can we run more than one file in single run of infopackage?
or can we have any function module to run the infopackage from externally? so that i can use function module in abap program? any ideas..

• Using Active Directory - either Secure or Distribution Groups

Reviewing the security documentation for UCM 10g R3, it appears that we should only map to Active Directory Secure Groups and not Distribution Groups, perhaps even if they are marked "secure"? Does anyone know if this is a technical limitation or a best practice? Our organization has processes in place to prevent ad-hoc updates to Distribution lists and I'd like to map UCM using this group type in AD because SQL statements can keep the membership list current in a Distribution Group.

dll is not a good candidate for the Agent, this has to be an application(exe), and the server onces it identifies the PCs should push this Agent to those PCs and the Application should have the logic to Phone home etc...

Could it be that you are trying to install from an exploded version of your war files? It looks like WebLogic thinks it's a war file but it seems to be a directory... You might try to rename those directories to anything that's not .war and .ear.

For that I need "apsutil.zip" (from 10gR2 64 installation on Windows 2k8 R2) and "appsutil.tar" (from 11gR2 database installation on CentOS Linux 5.x i386). Both versions are needed to make proper testing. But, if I must choose to get only one version then please let me get Linux version.
@Hsawwan, all,
Where to get only this directory files (zipped o tarred)? I do not want to install the whole apps just for these files....so in front appreciate to get from this lovely community.
THX in front,
Damir Vadas

Damir,
1) I wanted DB side appsutil not APPS side one.You will have to copy the appsutil.zip from the application tier node to the database tier node, this is how we get the database appsutil.zip file.
2) In the meantime, I have downloaded from otn "V15576-01_1of3"-"V15576-01_3of3" zips, where inside DiskX\dbts\stage\ directory are db0-db4.zip files. I have extract them and I think this is it. I got "appsutility" dir with subfolders and files. From memory, looks like a bingo!OK, but this is just the original file, and you have to make sure that the appsutil.zip file is the one which is generated at the application tier node with the same patchset level.
1) Could you please verify my note that this is OK? Please see my reply above.
2) This is from 12R1 pack so is this OK for 11gR2 database?Again, see my reply above :)
Thanks,
Hussein

Hello, I need code help to zip a directory, all files and subdirectory in it. Please help.

Use this recursive function.

• Installing WebLogic 11gR1 zip distro on Ubuntu 10.10

Hi. I'm having a problem installing WebLogic 11gR1, the zip distribution of Ubuntu 10.10.
I created this path:
/usr/local/programs/WebLogic11gR1
I put this in .bashrc
export MW_HOME=/usr/local/programs/WebLogic11gR1
I closed that terminal and opened a fresh terminal.
I moved the *zip distribution into
/usr/local/programs/WebLogic11gR1
I unpacked the zip and tried to run the configure.sh script with variations of
sh ./configure.sh
and I get this error message:
=====================================================
./configure.sh: 19: [[: not found
./configure.sh: 19: -d: not found
ERROR: You must set MW_HOME and it must point to a directory.
where an installation of WebLogic exists. Ensure you point
this variable to the extract location of the zip distribution.
=====================================================
I ran echo $MW_HOME and got
/usr/local/programs/WebLogic11gR1
Which is correct.
Any ideas what is going on and how I can fix it?

the config.sh wouldn't pick up my JAVA_HOME either. I opened up the script and found that all it did was call another script, so I ran that script myself with no problems.

• Change the User ID running the SunOne Directory Server 6.3 on Windows 2003

Hi Experts,
I have an install of SunOne Directory Server Enterprise edition 6.3 running on Windows 2003 server. It was installed using the Zip distribution and is running as a user ID in the Active Directory the server is part of. We are trying to change the user ID to a service account (not the current ID which belongs to a person), so that the Sun DS can run as a service within Windows 2003 server. Need help in doing this without having to re-install the Directory server. Has anyone done this and is it possible to do?

Thank you very much for the insights and the responses sharmy28.
Appreciate it very much.
All I had to do was change the setting in this file only:
Open the file dsee6/cacao_2/etc/cacao/instances/default/private/cacao.properties and change the below line with new id...
# Define username and groupname for cacao process
process.username=sunadmin
process.groupname=sungroup
As this is Windows 2003 and the installs are all default values, I had to reboot the server for the change to take effect.
The file dsee6/cacao_2/usr/lib/cacao/lib/tools/scripts/globals.cfg does not exist. However the same file exists under the perl directory as globals.pl and the settings you specified are present there. In our case these were commented out and so I left them as is.
Thanks once again for your responses which helped me solve the issue we had.
Thanks.
