Directory Editor problems

I deployed Directory Editor (de.war) on my Solaris 10 x86 server with Sun Java Application Server Platform Edition 8.2. I can access the application through a browser for the initial Startup Properties. I add my Configruation Director Server information (another Solaris 10 server running Sun Java System Directory Server 5.2 Patch 6). I can see that ou=DML,ou=services is added to the root suffix. But the next screen should be Managed Directory and all I see is a blank page. Anyone know why this is? Thank you.

    Hello,
    1)
    May be the problem is a network connectivity issue. Do one thing copy the "cahce" folder from some other client PC(which has successfully opened IR and ID) to your client PC. The folder resides in "C:Documents and Settings<yourUserProfile>Application DataSunJavaDeploymentjavaws".
    Copy "cache" folder to your client PC under the above path.

    Click on Administration -> Java™ Web Start -> Java™ Web Start Administration ->
    Try
    1. Re-initialization (then try logging)
    2. Re-initialization and force-signing (then try logging)
    3. Delete lock (then try logging)
    Do this for IR and ID tabs.

  • Sun Directory Editor - errors on edit form

    I've installed directory editor, which seems to run fine except for the edit form.

  • Directory Editor Advanced Search Page

    Hi All,
    i tried to search for some user using the advanced search page in the Directory Editor. I added two search criteria and i thought that these criterias are logical And'ed like decribed in the sun manual. But it lokks like that the criteria are Or'ed.
    What is going wrong?
    THX
    Frank

    The advanced search control unfortunately hasn't seen any updates in years.  Your best bet is to develop your own app to handle this.

  • Directory Editor adding object classes to the Extensions Tab

    I'm using Sun's Directory Editor web based product. Under the extensions tab lists the object classes you can add (obviously there are only a select few there). Just wondering if anyone knows how to add custom object classes to this tab.

    object classes to this tab.this link has such an example:
    http://blogs.sun.com/kevlar/entry/directory_editor_tips
    Disclaimer: that's my feedback under the blog post. I'm trying to figure out how to use DE to maintain an extended schema that includes migrated NIS maps. The overall goal is to migrate from NIS to LDAP as a naming service AND create realistically easy method for day-to-day administration (constantly using the console is out of the question). I believe DE might provide a solution, if custom forms can be figured out. It's been very slow going.
    Does anyone else have examples of modifying Directory Editor forms? Any help would be appreciated.

  • Directory Editor and Tomcat

    Hey all,
    I am installing Directory Editor 6.0, and following the install documentation, I added some lines to the 'catalina.policy' file in the Tomcat configuration to allow DE to work properly.
    grant codeBase "file:${catalina.home}/webapps/de/-" {
      permission java.security.AllPermission;
    grant codeBase "file:${catalina.home}/webapps/de/-" {
      permission javax.security.auth.AuthPermission "getLoginConfiguration";
      permission javax.security.auth.AuthPermission "setLoginConfiguration";
      permission javax.security.auth.AuthPermission "createLoginContext.SunDirectoryLogin";
      permission javax.security.auth.AuthPermission "modifyPrincipals";
      permission java.util.PropertyPermission "*", "read,write";
      permission java.net.SocketPermission "*", "connect,resolve";
      permission java.io.FilePermission "*", "read, write";
      permission java.util.PropertyPermission "Debug.enable", "read";
    grant {
      permission java.lang.reflect.ReflectPermission "suppressAccessChecks";
      permission java.lang.RuntimePermission "accessClassInPackage.sun.beans.*";
      permission java.lang.RuntimePermission "accessClassInPackage.sun.io";
      permission java.lang.RuntimePermission "accessDeclaredMembers";
    };I deployed the WAR file, and was able to perform the initial configuration of DE (location of the config directory, what suffix to configure, what credentials to connect to the DS as...). Once those steps finish, I can see data in the DS under the newly created "Services" OU for DE, but when I try to login to DE as either a regular user or as an administrative user, I get an error. When deploying on Tomcat 5.5, login fails due to a missing JAAS configuration file
    To work around this issue, first create tomcat-install-path/bin/setenv.sh containing the following line:
    JAVA_OPTS="-Djava.security.auth.login.config=$CATALINA_HOME/conf/jaas.conf"
    Next create tomcat-install-path/conf/jaas.conf. Edit the file to contain the following lines:
    SunDirectoryLogin {
    com.sun.dml.auth.SunDirectoryLoginModule required;
    };

  • [HELP] Lost command in directory editor

    please help, I just accidentally deleted command in directory editor.
    The command is SystemAdministrator
    please help me to recover that back in my directory editor...

    Two choices left - download iPhoto Library Manager - http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/ - and use its rebuild command - this will rebuild yoru library leaving the original untouched so you can go back to it is things do not make yo happy - this will keep your edits, metadata and events but will not keep projects
    If that does not work Right click on the iPhoto library and show package contents - look in the masters folder - are your original photos there?  If so (and if you have adaquate disk space) duplicate the masters folder and rename the iPhoto library "iPhoto library old" - depress the option key and launch iPhoto ancd create a new library - drag the masters folder to the iPhoto icon in the Dock to import your original photos with your events
    This will give you a new library with your originals - edits, projects and metadata changes will not be available
    And critically start Time Machine up and leave it running

  • PSE10 Editor Problem

    I have a strange problem when using PSE10 Editor. Whenever I left click on any of the options with a dropdown box the screen just jumps and the box briefly shows the options but won't stay open to allow me to choose an option. This has effectively stopped me working as I cannot choose any of these type of options which exist on virtually every tool and has even stopped me saving my edits. On the Save As screen when I click on the format dropdown to save as a jpeg I cannoit select that option - the screen just jumps and won't open the box.
    This is a PSE editor problem as it doesn't happen on any other applications with these type of boxes and also these boxes are ok to open in Organiser as well.
    Ant Idea anyone - I have googled with no success.

    I've spent a couple of days on this problem getting nowhere, even after clearing down and doing a fresh clean PSE10 install. I did however find links to a  different problem with the same symptoms namely the lasso problem that some users are getting where after holding down the left mouse for a period of time the screen jumps around and shows a message 'filename nn.nn% - not responding'. I get this problem when I click any of the dropdown box option in any tool, the main one being when trying to saving the file after editing.
    I have found a fix of sorts by running the PSE10 program in 'Vista Compatability Mode' (I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit) and it seems to be working OK - I have edited 200 photostoday  without problem. Reading up a bit more on the lasso problem it seems that it has been there since PSE9 and has still not been fixed by Adobe which is shameful.
    This is just an FYI for anyone else that gets this exact or similar problems.

    So I created another account and it works fine there. Compared permissions between the two accounts and they appear identical. Looks like it can't create the .tarantella directory in my home directory. Did have some home directory permission problems a couple weeks ago and used the utility on the Mac OSX install disk to reset home directory permissions and ACLs.
    Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

    I probably should have included more of the java console output. This is output after what appears to be certificate checking:

  • Directory Editor

    Our firm is planning to use Sun Java Directory Server as the LDAP server. We are pretty confused about the GUI. We were reviewing Directory Editor as the GUI for the directory server, but found out, that its last release was in 2005. Moreover we went through its documentation, but it was not very clear how to customize it according to our needs. Also proper instructions are not given on how to use the web components(JavaScript, applets, etc. ). Is there any guide other than the one provided by Sun, available for the Directory Editor?
    Also can anyone suggest any other GUI tool for the Directory Server, which is available in the market?

    @Jonathan:
    Deployment is not an issue, we have infact deployed it on 2-3 machines...but we are not able to customize it according to our needs. The instructions on using the HTML components given in the document is insufficient.
    @the_duuuuuude:
    Yes I need a web based application...
    @Ludovic
    okk...thx but can you provide me with a list of customisable applications? Maybe we can manage with an application.

  • Is anyone else having frequent frozen editor problems?

    My editor freezes on me every day, at least once, and sometimes a lot more. Today it's happened 4 times. I never know when it's going to happen, but it seems to happen more often when I'm working on large files with a mix of cfscript, cftags and html syntax. To get back to work, I have to close the eclipse window, sometimes clicking the close box 2 or 3 times, then force quit the eclipse process from the task manager, and then I can restart eclipse.
    I'm running Windows 7 (x64), eclipse 3.5.1 build M20090917-0800  (x32) and ColdFusion Builder 1.0.0.263215
    I cannot start without errors that show up in my log, even after I clear it.
    I attached my log file.

    I finally solved my problems on Windows 7 64bit with the Eclipse plugin by forcing Eclipse to use the jvm.dll rather than let it use the javaw.exe executable which it uses by default.  My setup was Win7 64bit, Eclipse 64bit, and 64bit JVM.  I experienced all the problems you describe, and more, but since making this change CFB runs teriffic and I was able to turn all the crap I had turned off 'for performance reasons' back on.
    Just going to paste the blog post I made about it.  Note that this is 64bit stack-specific, and that CFB standalone is 32bit, so if you want to try this on the standalone install you'll need to make sure you've got a 32bit JVM (one comes with standalone, but you can install a newer one from www.java.com as well).  I haven't tried this with standalone, only the Eclipse plugin, but if you're experiencing similar issues you might get the same benefit by doing the basics of what's outlined below:
    Original url: http://www.websolete.com/posts/cfbuilder-2-performance-problems-on-windows-7-64-bit-solved
    For those of you that continue to experience hangs and massive slowdowns running CFB on Windows 7 64bit, the one thing I found that made all the difference in the world is to have Eclipse use the jvm.dll rather than javaw.exe (the default).  I’m using the CFB plugin into Eclipse, but I suspect this may also apply to CFB standalone on Win7 64bit as well.  No amount of configuration changes, switching between 32 and 64bit JVM/Eclipse or disabling of features made any difference to the significant performance problems I was continuing to experience UNTIL I explicitly had Eclipse start up using the dll (forcing the JVM to load within the Eclipse process).
    I also found that simply adding the –vm argument to the eclipse.ini apparently doesn’t work when trying to specify a specific JRE to use (at least on my machine); regardless of the existence of this argument in the ini file, it will still always fire up C:\Windows\System32\javaw.exe, which is where the problems I was seeing are (high CPU utilization, memory consumption). Not sure why that argument is ignored, perhaps a path issue, but I found that the only way I could be certain that I could run Eclipse with a specific JRE was to invoke Eclipse with the –vm command line argument.
    I removed all my old JRE installs and installed the most recent 64bit JRE to C:\Java\64bit\.
    What didn’t work:
    I first tried updating eclipse.ini with:
    -vm C:\Java\64bit\jre6\bin\javaw.exe
    but found that Eclipse was still invoking the C:\Windows\System32\javaw.exe for some reason.  Eclipse started of course, and the javaw.exe process started going bananas again every time I would try to edit a file and *change the value of an html input tag* of all things – as soon as I changed the input value by adding one letter (even before saving) the javaw.exe process would immediately start eating cpu and memory, and I could repeat this problem consistently across multiple files.  Eclipse would hang, and I’d have to forcibly kill it as it would never recover.
    I then tried invoking Eclipse with the command line –vm argument, like so:
    D:\eclipse\eclipse.exe -vm C:\Java\64bit\jre6\bin\javaw.exe
    leaving all the other arguments alone in the ini file; now, I could see that it was definitely using this particular javaw.exe but had exactly the same behavior I described above, edit a file (local filesystem, not network just to clear that it isn’t network related) and javaw.exe freaked out and Eclipse hung until forcibly killed.
    I then tried changing the –vm argument in the eclipse.ini file to:
    -vm C:\Java\64bit\jre6\bin\server\jvm.dll
    When Eclipse started it still had fired up javaw.exe in the Windows system32 directory as above. Whatever.
    What worked:
    Finally, I invoked Eclipse using the command line –vm argument pointing to the JRE’s jvm.dll, like so:
    D:\eclipse\eclipse.exe -vm C:\Java\64bit\jre6\bin\server\jvm.dll
    and holy crap, it runs great.  Responsive, no appreciable sluggishness, I even turned a bunch of the code assist and insight features back on in light of how great it works now.  Because javaw.exe isn’t running I have seen none of the problems I had when using the default invocation.  I don’t understand why this option isn’t talked about more (I recall seeing only one reference to it in all the stuff I read), nor why it works better for me than the default javaw.exe but I’ve been running it all day now and it has been working terrific so far.
    So, if you’re on Win7 (or maybe even Vista) 64bit, have a 64bit JVM and 64Bit Eclipse and are seeing crappy performance or stability, try this method and see if it doesn’t solve your problems.  Off now to uninstall IntelliJ and Komodo trials ….

  • Active Directory accounts problem logging in to Mavericks

    We have twenty iMacs in a lab and five in an Internet café, all wired to a multiple subnet network. OS X Mavericks is bound to Active Directory.  Frequently OS X Mavericks behaves as if the network user account password is entered incorrectly until the iMac is restarted.  This did not happen when we had Mountain Lion.  We never have problems logging in to Windows computers bound to Active Directory.

  • Active Directory - Authentication Problem

    Hi Guys,
    I'm seeing something really weird in my Environment.
    For example, we have two users as example below in our Active Directory:
    jonesp - Paul Jones
    jonesph - Phillip Jones
    These users can't login into any Mac connected in Active Directory, on PCs the login goes fine.
    But when I renamed the login jonesp to jonespa, both users can login in the Macs.
    Anyone have this issue too? There is a KB telling about this behavior?
    This happens on Macs running 10.7.* and 10.8.*.
    Thanks

    Sorry CT,
    The problem isn't with Active Directory, this only happens on Macs.
    The problem doesn't happens with Windows and Linux, only on Macs.
    Anyway thanks for your help.
    Regards

  • Active Directory Server Problem

    Hi All,
    This mail Seeks to get help from people who have worked with Active Directory Server.
    The following is our Current scenario.
    We are in the process of establishing an SSL connection to Active Directory Server from java environment(a standalone class) in Windows 2000.
    1.Active Directory Server is installed in an independent Win 2k machine.
    2.SSL is enabled in the Active Directory Server Machine by installing the Enterprise Root Certificate.
    3.Microsoft High Encryption pack is installed in both the client and the Server(AD)
    4.The .cer file from the AD machine is imported in to the Client's keystore(cacerts) using the keytool utility.
    5.The AD m/c is part of a domain named "rsa" and client m/c is part of the domain named "cts"
    With the above setup,The following code tries to Establish an SSL context to the AD through JNDI.
    Hashtable env = new Hashtable();
    env.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY,"com.sun.jndi.ldap.LdapCtxFactory");
    env.put(Context.PROVIDER_URL,"ldap://blr03srv1.rsa.com:636");
    env.put(Context.SECURITY_PROTOCOL, "ssl");
    env.put(Context.SECURITY_AUTHENTICATION, "simple");
    env.put(Context.SECURITY_PRINCIPAL,"CN=Administrator,CN=Users,DC=rsa,DC=com");
    env.put(Context.SECURITY_CREDENTIALS,"password");
    try{
         DirContext ctx = new InitialDirContext(env);
         ctx.close();
    }catch (Exception e){
         e.printStackTrace();
    When we try to run this Client we are facing a SSLHandShakeException with a message saying "No trusted certificate found".
    As far as we know the .cer file is successfully imported in to the cacerts which is used by the J2SE as the default keystore.
    Hence we ran out of ideas,as we think that there could be some other issue which is causing this problem.
    We are looking forward to get inputs from AD enlightened people to Solve this issue
    Thanks in Advance,
    Manivannan.A

    I had problem the same and still I did not obtain to decide it, if for perhaps obtaining he passes me the solution.

    Thanks in advance

    I have the same problem when i try to login using the AD domain account the screen just jumps around as if you have entered teh wrong password.
