  • Directory manager resource question

    Folks,
On page 273 on the Iplanet DS Admin Guide it says that the directory manager receives unlimited resources by default. Using Dirsync, I get limits on look throughs and size limits. Also, from the console, the DM can only display 5000 entries (is this a console limitation???).
Is this correct? If so, then why do dirsyncs fail to the message server fail unless I up those limits?
    thanks,
    keith

I was wrong. It is not the directory manager but some guy named:
    uid=msg-admin-wip.acu.edu-20030205161045, ou=People, o=<mail domain>, o=<mailhead>,dc=<school>,dc=edu
Once I fixed this entry's nsLookThroughLimit and nsSizeLimit and reset the defaults to 5000 and 200 respectively, dirsync still works.
I found this out only by searching through the ldap logs for who was connecting.
    thanks and sorry,
    keith

  • Directory Administrator P/W reset?

Im trying to reset the Directory Administrator password using
CCMPWDChanger but of course I need to know the existing DA password. Is there another way to reset this??

Cisco CallManager Administration also uses the Directory Manager account to perform add, remove, or update operations on the DC Directory LDAP server.
    Configuring the Windows Registry
Use the following procedure to update the information that is stored in the registry to ensure that the registry is pointing to the correct directory.
    1. Open a command line and enter c:\dcdsrvr\bin.

    8. In the Value Data field, enter the Encrypted Password value that you obtained in step 3.
    9. Click OK.
    10. From the Registry Editor window, double-click MGRPW.
    The Edit String window appears.
    11. In the Value Data field, enter the Encrypted Password value that you obtained in step 3.
    12. Click OK.

    Prerequisite error
Installation program stops with missing file error
The following file was not found
    ... \migration\InstallationWizard\BusinessObjects Data Services\setup.exe
The file is necessary for successful installation. Please connect to internet or refer to Quick Guide (available on SAP note 1527151) for information regarding the above file.

Other prerequisite of .NET 3.5.1 met already.
Patch is released since 20.11.2011 so I presume that it is a good installation set.

    Hello,
I am right in the middle of provisioning OCS on a Win2K sp4 server. I am receiving and error that the LDAP server is not up and running when trying to logon to the Directory Manager GUI. It appears all services are running fine. Does anyone have any imput?
    Thanks,

    Finally got this working!
It was the wallet manager. The trusted CA root cert was not installed properly. The certifcate status has to be marked "Ready" to have everything work correctly.

    Thanks

    Hi,
    Thanks once again for reply!!
If you already installed Oracle Virtual Directory Manager on Sun SPARC, can you brief us pre-requisite setting and installation steps, so that we can follow the same.
Because, we are getting error in the initialization of installation process itself. So, I think there must be some configuration settings to be made.
We already raised SR (Service Request) with Oracle, bu there is no reply from their side till now.
I am waiting for your reply ASAP

  • Navigator Not Visible in Directory Manager

On Win XP Pro Oracle Directory service does not start on boot, even though it is set to do so automatically. It will start manually from the Windows services app. After starting the service, oidctl runs successfully from the command line "C:\>oidctl connect=oid90 server=oidldapd instance=3 configset=0 start"
On start up Oracle Directory Manager (ODM) accepts the orcladmin/welcome logon and displays the connecting message and loading schema message. ODM opens but does not display the Navigator panel. ODM seems to be connected to the database because Objects, attributes, entries etc. are visible by selecting choices from the Operations menu.
When OID was first installed the navigator sometimes did and sometimes did not display. Now it is never displayed.
    Any suggestions appreciated.

    Hi Jay,
I am a Business Analyst and would like to get Oracle Workflow running so I can play with Workflow Builder. I'm just trying to get my hands dirty with this stuff. I want to use OID as a directory server for workflow.
I uninstalled 9.0.1.1 in installed 9.2.x.x. The results are similar.
The Bind request to LDAP failed error re-appeared. I had somehow worked around this on the previous install but I don't know how. The command ldapbind -h trburns -p 389 -D cn=orcladmin -w ohwgwead returns Cant contact ldap server. The error seems to be common as it appears in numerous postings but I havent seen a clearly described explanation and solution.
Do you have access to Oracles knowledge base? It must have a description of this problem.
I can open ODM after the bind failure by clicking the close icon. Double clicking the banner works in cases where the navigator tree is not visible. Many thanks for that tip.
Any authoritative information you could provide about the bind problem would be appreciated.
    Thanks again,
    Tom

    Thanks In Advance,

    Hi,
Based on the description, we can try to contact Microsoft Customer Support Services to obtain the hotfix to see if it helps.
A hotfix rollup package for Active Directory Web Service is available for the .NET Framework 3.5 SP1

  • Directory Management in Small Business

    Hi All -
We have been on OS X server for quite some time.  It has provided basic file sharing, time machine for our mac users, and profiles for iOS/OS devices (we deploy company materials in iBooks to keep it updated and clean).  We use OneLogin with Open Directory to sync accounts to Google Apps and other web services.
We've always had some Windows machines on our network and would like to be able to better protect them, what is the best solution for this?
It seems there are two good ways to go about this...
    1.  Use pGina http://pgina.org/ and maintain the open directory setup
    2.  Install a windows serverfor directory management sync the mac and onelogin to it
1 is cheaper, 2 may be a more robust solution and allows some further customizations for the Windows user experience.
We have 8 windows machines but they serve critical roles, and our number one issue would be to lock them down for security (R&D environment where they are used solely to operate machinery that does not have mac software to run it).
Any feedback from those in either parties on which would be better?  Any other suggestions?

Clearly a genuine Windows server acting as an Active Directory server will deliver the most Windows friendly solution, however you had already listed that and I was listing an alternative that you had not. I feel SAMBA4 also acting as an Active Directory server is superior to the hack that is pgina. SAMBA4 is free hence my suggestion for it over a very expensive Windows Server solution.
With SAMBA4 the Windows clients should in theory not be able to tell the difference between it and a genuine WIndows server.

  • OpenSSO uses Directory Manager as default dn

    Hi,
We're trying to integrate OpenSSO with 11G DS, however the issue is that OpenSSO uses Directory Manager as default dn. We're not comfortable doing it as we would not be able to distinguish who executed the problematic command. Usually only support personals are allowed to use DM.
Does anyone has workaround on this? Any Suggestions!
    Thanks !

We opened up an Oracle case, Engineer initially replied that changing the bind dn was not possible (even though the doc seemed to indicate that it was). After reading the engineer's email comments, (he said he had tested); I replied that I did not believe that his testing process was valid.
Please let me know if there is a link, or something so that we can test in our environment. Surely, we would like Oracle approval on this before moving ahead.
Thanks a lot for all your responses.

How to change password of LDAP admin :cn=Directory Manager ?
    Thanks!

Try this, on the console log in as "cn=Directory Manager", open the Directory Server console and select the "Configuration" tab. You should see a "Settings" tab inside "Configuration" There you can find the fields for Directory Manager's new password.

  • OID installation : Oracle Directory Manager

    Hello
This is a 'please tell me what step i am missing' type of question.
I have completed the OID installation.
When I login into the Oracle Directory Manager using the cn=orcladmin user I see a blank page and most of the Menu Items greyed out.
Can you please advise on which post-installation I am missing out on?
    Thanks
    Cyril

    Well, none.
This should give you a complete access. Check your installActions.log file for errors.

  • Why I cann't see the navigator pane in directory manager?

Why I cann't see the navigator pane (left side of the double window interface according to 'oracle internet directory administrator's guide') while I login to directory manager?
The other confusing question is why the directory information still exists after I uninstalled, deleted all related files to Oracle products, and re-installed them?
    Thank any help.

    Hi,
make sure JDeveloper ios closed and the directory structure or their contained file aren't used elsewhere.

  • Error trying to log into Oracle Directory Manager

I am receiving an error message when I try to log into Oracle Directory Manager. This is the first time I am trying to log in, I am trying to login with the username cn=orcladmin, and with the password welcome, which is the default. I then receive the error message "Server is not up and running". I thought I started an OID instance with oidctl.
    I am running on w2k.
I am using the default port 389, at least thats what I accepted while installing the infrastructre.
    Any advise?
