Directory on another server

Hi,
I am using oracle 11g R2 with oracle application express 4.0.
Oracle database running on windows server 2008 R2 enviroment.
I need to create directory on another server, beacuse I need to store some files on another server.
How can I do it ??
Any suggestion??
With Best Regards.

Hi,
ups - forgotten this one. The running Oracle process does not have access privileges for mapped network drives by default. So you need to
setup the Oracle service in a manner that the process can "see" the mapped network drives .. That is windows-specific ...

  • Expdp using directory on another server

    I've got a serious issue here and hoping someone can help.
    Oracle 10.2.0.4
    HP-UX 11.21
    I have an export from a large (2Tb) database that I need import into a database on another server, but there isn't enough room to put the export file on that server. We do not have enough space to add, and we are prohibited from using NFS.
    I thought perhaps I could run the impdp command from the server containing the export dump (similar to how we did it with exp/imp), but I can't seem to figure out how to do it.
    I tried using network_link, but that won't work because directories and network_links are mutually exclusive.
    I tried creating a directory in my local database and then set my ORACLE_SID to my local database and try running expdp to the remote database, but datapump only reads the directory of the database it is importing into.
    Any other ideas?
    Please help!

    Yes, I'm sure directories and network_liknks are mutually exclusive.

  • Directory watch on another server

    OK, we have a weird situation. I am in an environment where
    we have ColdFusion MX 7 on our development server but CF 5 on our

    to automate one of my processes but it will be at least 6 months
    before we have converted our nearly 100 apps to MX. Can I use my
    development server running MX to watch a directory on another
    server? Perhaps using a UNC path in the config file?

  • Open Directory PDC w/ profiles stored on another server

    Hello,
    I am working on a new Open Directory (OD) setup to consolidate our O/S authentication directories. I desire to have our OD act as our Windows PDC. However, I want the profiles to be stored on another Samba server. I tried setting 'logon path = \\myserver\%U\profile', but when a OD Windows client logs in the system does not create a new profile.
    Can an Open Directory Samba PDC store profiles on another server? If so, how do you do it?
    Thank you,
    Joe Kotran
    Mac Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    SUMMARY
    Q: Can an Open Directory (OD) Samba Primary Domain Controller (PDC) store user profiles on a third party Samba / storage server?
    A: Yes! To do so set `logon path = \\$server\$user\$folder` in smb.conf on the OD server. This value will work for all accounts. You may also set individual profile paths in the Workgroup Manager GUI administration tool.
    If you experience a "cannot find profile" error when you first set this up, try setting `profile acls = yes` in the [homes] share of your Samba storage server.

  • Setup Home Directory that is on another server?

    Hi there,
    I have setup a server (10.4) where each users home directory is kept on an xserve raid that is connected via fiber. When a user logs onto this server, they can mount their home folder or the other shared folder which has a bunch of stuff in it.
    I also have another server (10.3) which does not have user home directories setup on it. What I would like to do is setup the 10.3 server to mount a home directory that is on the xserve raid when a user logs in. So regardless of which server they are authenticating to, the home directory that is mounted sits on the xserve raid. Again, the XServe Raid is not connected to this server (10.3)
    Here are the specifications:
    10.4 server: server4.local
    XServe connected to it via fiber
    Users on this server have the home address of: /Volumes/XServeRaid/Faculty Folders/asmith
    10.3 server: serverone.local
    What would the information be for the following fields on the other server?
    Mac OS X Server/Share Point URL:
    Path:
    Home:
    Thanks very much
    Andrew

    The way you do what you are describing is to keep the Account information in the same place it is now, but change the pointer to a User's (or collection of Users) Home Folder.
    To transition to that:
    • decide where the User's new Home will be.
    • create a new folder for that user at the new location.
    • copy the user's files to the new location.
    • change the home pointer in their account record.

  • Retreiving the file names from directory inside another directory from application server

    Hi,
    I had a problem in retreiving the file names from a directory inside another directory.
    I tried using the FM's  SUBST_GET_FILE_LIST, RZL_READ_DIR_LOCAL and EPS_GET_DIRECTORY_LISTING
    But here I am getting only one directory details.
    Actually my file is located a directory inside one more directory and one more directory and inside the files are located.
    i.e total 3 directories inside the 3rd one my files are there.
    I need to read the latest file name in the directory.
    So that i can do some manipulation after getting the file name.
    Is there option like OPEN DATASET , READ DATASET and CLOSE DATASET?
    Can anyone please let me know How can i acheive this one.
    Regards

  • Java Program to copy file from one directory to another failing

    Hello All,
    Oracle Applications 12.1.3
    RDBMS: 11.2.0.30
    SQL*Plus: 10.1.0.5.0
    Java beginner here so help is much appreciated.  I'm have some java code that I'm using to copy a file from one directory to another in an Oracle Applications Server.  I notice that when moving to a new instnace I started to get file not found errors.  I think it's because of the directory.  My question is, does the directory in which I trying to pick up the file have to be a DBA_DIRECTORY, or a UTL_FILE directory in order for the java to find the file and move it?
    Here is my code...
    CREATE OR REPLACE AND COMPILE JAVA SOURCE NAMED "COPY_FILE_JVS" AS
    import java.io.*;
    public class COPY_FILE_JVC{
      public static void copy(String SourceFile, String DestDir) {
        File source = new File(SourceFile);
        File dest = new File(DestDir);
        File cpDestFile = null;
        try {
          if (dest.isDirectory()) {
              if(source.isFile()) {
                System.out.println("File name = " + source.getName());
                System.out.println("File name dest = " + dest.getPath() );
                System.out.println("File name cpDestFile = " + dest.getPath() + File.separator + source.getName());
                cpDestFile = new File(dest.getPath() + File.separator + source.getName());
              else {
                System.out.println("Directory or File Not Found");
                return;
          BufferedInputStream  br = new BufferedInputStream (new FileInputStream (source));
          BufferedOutputStream  bw = new BufferedOutputStream (new FileOutputStream (cpDestFile));
          int read = 0;
          while((read = br.read()) != -1) {
            //System.out.println((char)read);
            bw.write(read);
          br.close();
          bw.close();
        catch (FileNotFoundException e) {
        e.printStackTrace();
        catch (IOException e) {
        e.printStackTrace();

    I get these messages when calling the java from SQL Plus as follows...
    serveroutput on size 100000;
    dbms_java.set_output(1000000);
    MY_PKG.CopyFile('/home/my_user/set_env.sh','/interface/home'); (this is call to oracle pl/sql package which calls the java.)
    PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.
    Directory or File Not Found
    PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.
    If I change the directory from /home/my_user/ to any directory that is defined in DBA_DIRECTORIES or is a UTL_FILE directory to program works.  Is it perhaps because the java is in a PL/SQL package as seen below?  The PL/SQL program runs as the APPS user and I have issued the following the command grant JAVASYSPRIV to APPS.
    Here is the PL/SQL Package....
    CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE BOLINF.MY_PKG AUTHID CURRENT_USER AS
    CopyFile(p_SourceFile IN VARCHAR2, p_DestDir IN VARCHAR2);

  • Reconfigure Open Directory in Yosemite Server

    Is it possible to delete and reconfigure Open Directory in Yosemite server?
    The host name and configuration were modified after Open Directory was activated and I get the message "Unable to load replica list" in the Settings Tab of Open Directory on the Server App (Server 4.0.3 (Build 14S350)). I think the best way would be to start over the automatic configuration.

    Many Open Directory problems can be resolved by taking the following steps. Test after each one, and back up all data before making any changes.
    1. The OD master must have a static IP address on the local network, not a dynamic address. It must not be connected to the same network with more than one interface; e.g., Ethernet and Wi-Fi.
    2. You must have a working DNS service, and the server's hostname must match its fully-qualified domain name. To confirm, select the server by name in the sidebar of the Server application window, then select the Overview tab. Click the Edit button on the Host Name line. On the Accessing your Server sheet, Domain Name should be selected. Change the Host Name, if necessary. The server must have at least a three-level name (e.g. "server.yourdomain.com"), and the name must not be in the ".local" top-level domain, which is reserved for Bonjour.
    3. The primary DNS server used by the server must be itself, unless you're using another server for internal DNS. The only DNS server set on the clients should be the internal one, which they should get from DHCP if applicable.
    4. Only if you're still running Mavericks server, follow these instructions to rebuild the Kerberos configuration on the server.
    5. If you use authenticated binding, check the validity of the master's certificate. The common name must match the hostname and domain name. Deselecting and then reselecting the certificate in Server.app has been reported to have an effect in some cases. Otherwise delete all certificates and create new ones.
    6. Unbind and then rebind the clients in the Users & Groups preference pane. Use the fully-qualified domain name of the master.
    7. Reboot the master and the clients.
    8. Don't log in to the server with a network user's account.
    9. Disable any internal firewalls in use, including third-party "security" software.
    10. If you've created any replica servers, delete them.
    11. If OD has only recently stopped working when it was working before, you may be able to restore it from the automatic backup in /var/db/backups, or from a Time Machine snapshot of that backup.
    12. As a last resort, export all OD users. In the Open Directory pane of Server, delete the OD server. Then recreate it and import the users. Ensure that the UID's are in the 1001+ range.
    If you get this far without solving the problem, then you'll need to examine the logs in the Open Directory section of the log list in the Server app, and also the system log on the clients.

  • How to transport a custom bapi (written by me) to another server

    Hello friends,
    We have a software that is integrated with SAP. To make our software work with SAP, we have some custom bapis created on SAP side. We would like to transfer them to another server that is on a different network. After reading many documents and forums here is the what I have done and the problem that I am facing. Your help will be highly appreciated.
    1.Started Transaction 'SE80'.
    2.Created a test package called 'ZTRANSPORTTEST'.
    3.Created a function group called 'ZTRANSPORTTESTFN' under that package.
    4.Created a function module under the group called 'ZTRANSFUNCTION'
      NOTE: Just saved and activated without adding any code since I won't be using this function
                 for anything other than to test the Transport Feature.
    5. Clicked on the button that said 'Transport Organizer' and saw the list of requests including the
        EC1K900083one that I just created.
    6. I tried to release it by 'RIGHT CLICKING'
       It waited for few seconds with the message....."code inspector checks running.".
       Then it failed with an error message as follows
       Error in pre-export methods for request EC1K900083
      NOTE: I have made sure that everything is activated properly, since I read on a forum that this
                 error may occur if something is not activated properly. So I have done this step over
                 and over again making sure that everything is activated properly.
    7. I then started Transaction 'SE09' and saw the request 'EC1K900083' under the released tree with a 'CHECK' Mark.
    However, when I sent to /usr/SAP/trans/data and /usr/SAP/trans/Cofiles, I didn't find the transport data there.
    Has anyone done this before and if so what am I doing wrong? Your suggestions or feedback will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Ram

    Hello Friends,
    Thanks for all the responses. I got the following response from SAP TECH SUPPORT which is not very encouraging and so I am just closing this.
    Thanks

    30.04.2009 - 11:40:29 EST - Reply by SAP
    Dear Mr Ram,
    Thanks for explaining it once again.
    The package is just container for development objects that belong together, in that they share the same system, transport layer, and
    customer delivery status. Please check the below link http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/ea/c05da3f01011d3964000a0c94260a5/frameset.htm
    As I understand correctly you want to 'export' your development outside of your SAP system domain. For that either you can do it using 'Externalsystems'. 'External systems' are a special form of virtual systems. A real SAP System is used in their place to perform actions on the transport directory. They are different from virtual systems in that they have their own transport directory that you can freely choose, you can use external systems to:
    -Write transport requests to exchangeable data media
    -Read transport requests from exchangeable data media
    -Send transports to other transport domains using an intermediate directory
    -Send transports to other transport domains using an intermediate directory
    If you want to transport between systems in different domains, we recommend that you link domains with 'domain links'. There must be a
    permanent network connection between the systems in the two domains, similar to the connection between systems within the same domain.
    I would recommend to take a look in the documentation available in SAP Online help for further information on how to setup this
    complex transport landscape. I hope this information helps you to setup the transport system.
    Or you simply create a transport request of type 'transport of copy' and input target system and client (which you should know) system as
    target system include the objects (bapi) in the request. This ensure that requests will only be imported into that system. Other systems willnot be touched.
    'Transport of copies' type transports do not get automatically added to the next buffer after they have been imported into a system. When creating a 'Transport of copies' transport the target system must be specified as this type of transport does not respect the defined transport routes outlined in TMS.
    You can use this request type to transport objects to a specified SAP System using Transports of copies. The objects are transported with the version they have in the current SAP System. The original location of the objects remains unchanged. There is no delivery to another SAP System.
    But we at AGS we cannot suggest, as the nature of your request indicates this is a consulting issue rather than a software error.
    Customer Support's charter, under the SAP maintenance agreement, is to handle software or system defects in the standard delivered R/3 product. Please refer the note 1054121.
    So you have to seek assistance from SAP's Remote Consulting Service which is billable.
    I am sorry that I could not give you more positive reply in this case.
    With warm regards,
    Sajiv

  • Error while duplicate database from one server to another server

    Hi there,
    I am practicing duplicate database from one single database server to another server. Hardware and driver path on 2 machines is the same. Here are my steps:
    --------------------- Clone site:
    1. modify listener.ora with content:
    LISTENER =
    (DESCRIPTION_LIST =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = IPC)(KEY = EXTPROC1521))
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = localhost.localdomain)(PORT = 1521))
    ADR_BASE_LISTENER = /u01/app/oracle

    (ORACLE_HOME = /u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/db_1)
    (SID_NAME= orcl)
    ENABLE_GLOBAL_DYNAMIC_ENDPOINT_LISTENER = ON
    2. stop and start listener again, message show like :
    Service “orcl” has 1 instance(s).
    Instance “orcl”, status UNKNOWN, has 1 handler(s) for this service…
    The command completed successfully
    3. create pfile from spfile.
    4. shutdown and startup nomount with pfile is new pfile create from step 3.
    --------------------------------------- Source site
    1. modify tnsnames.ora with content like:
    VVCOREDB =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = localhost.localdomain)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA =

    (CONNECT_DATA =
         (SERVER = DEDICATED)
         (SERVICE_NAME = orcl)
    2. run command from rman like these:
    rman> connect target sys@vvcoredb

  • Exporting Data from one Server to Another server w/ Version Enabled Tables

    Hi,
    I'm currently having a problem with regards to Exporting data to another server. This is the Scenario:
    Source Server is Production Server with all of its Tables in the Schema are Version-Enabled.
    Destination Server is a Test Server.
    I exported data from Production Server using EXP command. Then in my Test Server I imported my data using IMP command (I already created tablespace and user for the Schema).
    Import is successful in my Test server but when I execute my queries, There are no rows returned.
    I checked my _LT tables and it contains my data. but when I query from the View created when version was enabled, no result is returned.
    Am I missing something when I exported and imported my Schema? Should I have included the WMSYS schema when I created the .dump file?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Stefan,
    we tried using Export and Import using Data Pump.
    expdp system/password@orcl full=y directory=dmpdir2 dumpfile=FULL_DB.dmp
    impdp system/password@orcl full=y table_exists_action=truncate directory=dmpdir2 dumpfile=FULL_DB.dmp
    Still the same result as using exp and imp. _LT tables have data but when you query using the View, no results are found.

  • Move Central Instance to Another Server

    Hello expert,
    Now we have a distributed system: CI on server 1, DB on server 2. Now we want to move the CI to another server 3 without change the DB server.
    We get some information from link Move the central instance to another server in SAP
    We have few questions:
    1. Can we change the SID of CI with method provided in link?
    2. Any other additional steps should we do?
    Thanks & Best Regards,
    Tong Ning

    Hi Tong,
    You can install a new SAP instance (CI) on the new server as your DB is not moving and is on different host, and replicate important files from your old CI host.
    For eg, the host file, services file, trans directory and some work directory contents.
    Also, if your server on same OS or different ?
    You should check the compatibility of new OS and DB in service market place (PAM).
    For changing SID, please use standard guides and tested WIKI links.
    Regards,
    Divyanshu

  • How can i made a snapshot of a disk and replace the disk on another server solaris 11?

    Helo! I am trying to replace a disk on my solaris 11 with a snapshot of another server. I did the snapshot, but how can i send it to another server? I have try somethings, but It didnt work. Look:
    #first tentative
    zfs send /rpool/vdisk/srvdth05-ldom1.hdd0@snap1 | ssh 192.168.4.52 zfs recv /rpool/vdisk/'srvdth05-ldom1.hdd0'
    cannot open '/rpool/vdisk/srvdth05-ldom1.hdd0': invalid dataset name
    #second tentative
    root@srvdth03 # scp [email protected]:/rpool/vdisk/srvdth05-ldom1.hdd0@snap1 .
    Password:
    scp: /rpool/vdisk/srvdth05-ldom1.hdd0@snap1: No such file or directory
    #third tentative
    zfs send -i rpool/vdisk/srvdth05-ldom1.hdd0@snap1 | ssh 192.168.4.52 zfs recv "/rpool/vdisk/snaps"
    cannot receive: failed to read from stream
    #fourth tentative
    zfs send -Rv rpool/vdisk/srvdth05-ldom1.hdd0@snap1 > /rpool/snaps/vdisk-hdd0.snap2
    scp [email protected]:/rpool/snaps/vdisk-hdd0.snap2 .
    in the other host
    zfs receive -r rpool/vdisk/vdisk-hdd0@snap < /rpool/snaps/vdisk-hdd0.snap2
    cannot receive: can not specify snapshot name for multi-snapshot stream
    I dont know what to try anymore. Someone can help me please?

    Hi.
    This form is correct :
    zfs send rpool/vdisk/srvdth05-ldom1.hdd0@snap1 | ssh 192.168.4.52 zfs receive rpool/vdisk/'srvdth05-ldom1.hdd0
    Dataset name do not content first "/" at starting name.
    You can check  what datasets available with command:
    zfs list
    On system 192.168.4.52 you should preparare dataset.
    ssh 192.168.4.52
    zfs list | grep rpool
    zfs create -o mountpoint=none rpool/vdisk
    in case dataset rpool/vdisk/'srvdth05-ldom1.hdd0 on 192.168.4.52 olready present, you need add "-u"  for recv
    Read manual about zfs command for section send and recieve.
    man zfs
    Regards,
       Nik.

  • Adding another Server

    Hey,
    Currently running one server, is it possible to run another server off the same machine? If this is not possible is it possible to have another domain in the system?
    Thanks,
    Shannon

    Shannon
    AFAIK you can run more than one instance of OSX Server on the same unit provided you virtualize it. OS X Server (but not OS X Client) is supported in the usual Virtualization engines on either platform.
    By another domain do you mean DNS zones? If you really mean LDAP Services with all that that entails then no you can't. Leastways I can't think of a way that's easy. You must realise Kerberos is a key part of LDAP Services and if you want SSO (Single Sign On) there can only be one KDC (Key Distribution Centre) for any domain. This would be true for any environment - Active or Open Directory.
    Perhaps your question is really about Replication?
