Yes, I understand that it is not available, however i am expecting if someone has it on their workstation, and could send it via bigfiles etc. If I dont get any response, surely i will try to reach out to support team.

  • Installing Sun Java System directory Server 5.2 P4 Patch

    Hi,
While Installing using Sun Java System Directory Server 5.4 P4 patch using install.bat
i am getting error such as "*Cannot find either nsbasesys.zip or nsbasesys.zip.zip*"

    Hi Aswi,
Looking at your [other post|http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5342178&tstart=30] i asume you are installing this patch on Windows?
I haven't got any experience regarding DS on Windows, but looking at the install README i couldn't help noticing this part:
On windows copy d52diu.zip, nsbase.zip and nsbasesys.zip file
                    to the server root.
              - uncompress nsbase.zip file
              - on Windows platforms, uncompress nsbasesys.zip into $SystemRoot/SYSTEM32 directory
                    - In case of Windows platform, uncompress d52diu.zipGood luck!

  • Reg. frequent crashing of Directory server

    Hi,
I am running JES 2003 Q4 Directory server on Intel Solaris platform. My instance goes down frequently without leaving any error messages in the error logs even though we had increased the verbosity level.
I could see these strange warnings in the error logs:
    WARNING<5379> - Entry - conn=-1 op=-1 msgId=-1 - Entry error Convert LDIF entry into LDAP entry
    . Error: non-contiguous attribute type for obj%ctClass
If you can observe closely, the word "objectClass" is garbled with some special characters.
Have anyone seen such error message?
Any help on this would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Benjamin

The nearest error code I could find is from:

Could it be one of the LDAP applications was having malformed LDIF file? Try checking this LDIF file for trailing spaces at end of lines, improper line breaks, and missing DN alikes.
Try upgrading to the latest Java System Directory Server 2005Q1 + Patch 3 if this is possible.

  • Directory server and ldap TLS on windows platform

Any body, tested "sun directory server" and "ldap tls" on windows platform"??? cause I tried it, and I cant established a secure connection. On other platform, and I speack about solaris 9, evry thing is ok. Some comments??

It's a rather unusual way to use attribute subtypes. You may be able to do something with the mapping engine in DPS - I'll wait for Sylvain or someone else who knows DPS really well to answer that. But from the perspective of the information model, I have some doubts about this approach. For instance, what happens if you have multiple subtypes on a single-valued attribute?
Usually, for example, if there is a "preferred" common name as opposed to some other common names, it would be modeled in an entirely different attribute type, such as "preferredName". The subtypes are almost exclusively used for language specification nowadays. That's another question - what happens if you ever need to store multiple languages in your Directory?
Do you know of anyone else who is using this kind of information model in their Directory?

  • Installing Sun Directory Server on Windows Server 2008

Has anyone tried installing Sun Java System Directory Server in Windows Server 2008? I am trying to do this but get an error stating that nss3.dll is missing at configuration time.

Windows 2008 is not a supported platform for any DSEE release. Even if you get it working, Sun Support won't be able to help if you have issues.
This issue seems to have been reported on Windows 2000 with DSEE 6.0 too and one workaround is to remove the nss3.dll from c:\winnt\system32 or equivalent directory. Please note this workaround is not targeted at Windows 2008, so use at your own risk.

  • OAM and MS Active Directory Integration on Non-Windows Server envrionment

I will start by saying that I am dealing with a heterogeneous environment here where multiple systems are run by different levels of management. Our Oracle systems chose to go all *nix (Oracle Solaris and Red Hat Linux) and hence we do not have a single Windows Server in our Oracle services area and would really like to keep it that way as we prefer to keep a uniform platform across our Oracle servers.  However, the desktop side of our department has chosen to use Microsoft Active Directory and now we wish to integrate and perform authentication against it for our OAM protected sites.  We are in the initial setup phase but we have no desire to implement a critical server such as OAM on the Windows platform and would rather tie OAM running on a Red Hat Linux server to Active Directory.  We will also be using OID as we run Portal but do not want to use it as our authentication authority for Oracle Products (local policy is that Active Directory is the only valid credential authority on site as we are moving to true Single Sign On across our desktops and web applications).  I have a few questions.
    1. Can it be done natively or would we have to run the Windows version of OAM?
    2. If you must run OAM on Windows to use AD for authentication, Is there some way to setup the Windows version of OAM as sort of an interface for our main OAM server running on Red Hat Linux to do the AD Auth?
    3. Can it be done using some sort of an interface such as Oracle Virtual Directory to interface with the LDAP interface to MS Active Directory?

    Hi David,
    Answers in-line
    1. Can it be done natively or would we have to run the Windows version of OAM?
You can run all of the OAM Servers on *nix, and simply point to AD as an OAM data source on the machine:port that AD is running on. There is no need for the OAM components to be on Windows.
    2. If you must run OAM on Windows to use AD for authentication, Is there some way to setup the Windows version of OAM as sort of an interface for our main OAM server running on Red Hat Linux to do the AD Auth
As above, this is not necessary.
    3. Can it be done using some sort of an interface such as Oracle Virtual Directory to interface with the LDAP interface to MS Active Directory?
Yes, this is entirely possible. Even though it is not necessary in your situation, it often provides more flexibility to front-end the user store with OVD, for example when adding/renaming Windows domains, or specifying specific branches for users and so on.

  • Installing Sun Java System Directory Server on Windows XP

    Hello Everyone,
I want to install the Sun Java System Directory Server 6.2 on Windows XP platform. I tried to download the zip file, but it is giving me the options only for Windows 2000 Server and Windows 2003 Server. My question is, is there a binary for Windows XP? If yes, could someone please point me to the location and the installation instructions.
    Thanks in advance.
    Thanks,

  • Re-install directory server on windows

    Hello all,
Yesterday I downloaded and tried to install the directory server on my laptop (to try to duplicate our production system for local development). However, during the installation process, I entered a wrong value for my hostname and the slapd didnt start up properly. When I saw that message I abonded the installation, looked up the correct values and tried to re-install.
However, as with the re-install on linux thread, I couldnt pick any component anymore. I removed the directory where the directory server was installed, tried to remove all the keys from the registry, removed the extracted setup directory but even then, I still could not reinstall anything.
Only thing weird was that the Sun ONE directory service was still visible in my list of services, even after I had stopped it, disabled it, removed the keys from the registry and removed the directory. Only key that still had the Sun ONE value in it was a legacy-slapd key, and that key I could not delete.
Any pointers how I should re-install the directory server?
    Gr
    Ronald

You did not mention the Windows OS version and DS version. If you intend to use DS5.2, please install Windows JDK 1.5.X proir to running the "setup.exe".
I assume you have read the Release Notes.
    http://docs.sun.com/source/816-6703-10/index.html#wp27466
    And noted:
    ===
    # Microsoft Windows 2000 Server and Advanced Server SP 3 (IA-32)
Directory Server 5.2 has also been validated with Windows 2000 Service Pack 4.
    # Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition (IA-32)
The original release of Directory Server 5.2 has not been validated on Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition. Only the compressed archive update (patchzip) is validated on this platform.
    ===
Your abort action might have caused the installation to become "inconsistent" so running "uninstall.exe" (in the setup directory?) may not help, anyway if you have not run :uninstall.exe" please give it a try.
See related post, not sure those info there would help you.

I install Active Directory Domain Controller on Windows server 2008 enterprise and dont login on Sql Server 2008 R2. Before install ADDC, I have logon SQL Server 2008r2 Success, After when i install ADDC is don't logon on SQL Server 2008r2 -->not success.
I have uninstalled ADDC but i still can't login on SQL server 2008r2.
please help me. it  is very very disaster!
I think is loss account SQL server 2008r2!

    Hello,
I stronly recommend you post the detail error message to us while you try to connect to SQL Server instance, it's useful for us to do further investigation.
Microsoft recommends that you do not install SQL Server 2008 R2 on a domain controller, there are some limitations:
You cannot run SQL Server services on a domain controller under a local service account or a network service account.
After SQL Server is installed on a computer, you cannot change the computer from a domain member to a domain controller. You must uninstall SQL Server before you change the host computer to a domain controller.
After SQL Server is installed on a computer, you cannot change the computer from a domain controller to a domain member. You must uninstall SQL Server before you change the host computer to a domain member.
SQL Server failover cluster instances are not supported where cluster nodes are domain controllers.
SQL Server Setup cannot create security groups or provision SQL Server service accounts on a read-only domain controller. In this scenario, Setup will fail.
On Windows Server 2003, SQL Server services can run under a domain account or a local system account.
So, I would suggest you try to open up Windows Services list and changed the account for SQL Server service.

  • Change the User ID running the SunOne Directory Server 6.3 on Windows 2003

    Hi Experts,
I have an install of SunOne Directory Server Enterprise edition 6.3 running on Windows 2003 server. It was installed using the Zip distribution and is running as a user ID in the Active Directory the server is part of. We are trying to change the user ID to a service account (not the current ID which belongs to a person), so that the Sun DS can run as a service within Windows 2003 server. Need help in doing this without having to re-install the Directory server. Has anyone done this and is it possible to do?

Thank you very much for the insights and the responses sharmy28.
    Appreciate it very much.
All I had to do was change the setting in this file only:
Open the file dsee6/cacao_2/etc/cacao/instances/default/private/cacao.properties and change the below line with new id...
    # Define username and groupname for cacao process
    process.username=sunadmin
    process.groupname=sungroup
As this is Windows 2003 and the installs are all default values, I had to reboot the server for the change to take effect.
The file dsee6/cacao_2/usr/lib/cacao/lib/tools/scripts/globals.cfg does not exist. However the same file exists under the perl directory as globals.pl and the settings you specified are present there. In our case these were commented out and so I left them as is.
Thanks once again for your responses which helped me solve the issue we had.
    Thanks.

  • Installation Error with iPlanet Directory Server 5.1 SP1 and Windows 2000

    Hello,
I'm having real trouble getting iPlanet Directory Server installed on a Windows 200 Server machine. Every time I install it, no matter what options I choose, I get this series of popup boxes at the end:
    - Setup is unable to store configuration data in the LDAP directory
    - Unable to create Administration Server configuration
    - Could not authenticate ldap connection, "Unknown error"
    - Unable to set ACI in Configuration Directory Server
But searching on this forum, I have found a lot of post. I have tested the different solution proposed :
    * Add on the host file the short name and the long name of my machine with it's IP adress
    * When the installation process crash, uninstall the software, reboot the machine and then restart the installation
With all this solution, the problem is always here.
    Could you help me ?
    Boris MANCHETTE

Are you using Terminal Services. iPlanet DS will not install properly over Terminal Services. You have to install from the direct attached console.
