Directx on WinXP 64-bit?

Hello I just built my AMD64 system but I can't seem to find a version of DirectX that is compatible with WinXP 64 bit. Could anyone point me or perhaps there is none? Thanks for your time.

WinXP64bit already has directx with it ... it installs when you install the OS .. its the only version they currently have so you have to put up with it until they release a newer version
hope that helps & happy computing

  • Oracle 11g install for WinXP 64-bit - is 32-bit client needed?

I just saw that the WinXP 64-bit version of 11g is now available.
Does anyone know if it is necessary to install both the 64-bit Database and 32-bit Client on the same machine for a development server. This was the procedure for 10gR2 as the 64-bit ODBC drivers would not work with 32-bit ODBC apps.
    Thanks!

    I submitted a TAR/SR on MetaLink...
    Yes... you need both.

  • WinXP 64 Bit, Anyone tried yet????

    Hi Guys,
Firstly, I fixed my problem I talked about in my last post.
Turned out the VGA Card was bad, I say bad, what I mean is, when you look at the card from the side (?) The contacts were worn out and wouldnt make contact with the VGA slot thus preventing the MB from powering up :o|
Beleive me, I was PISSED !!!!
Anyway, has anyone tried installing WinXP 65 bit extended version yet?
Would be nice to get some feedback as I have a copy and would like to find out if it is worth the hassle??
Not sure if there are enough drivers around.
I know that a few things have been left out of the system by the people at Mikey Soft.
What with the 32bit subsystem, have heard that 32 bit applications run slower than if i installed on regular XP ??
    oh well.

The first time you re-installed Win 32 on the raid that was a bit drastic. A repair ought to have done the job.
The problem was probably that you disconnected the array but that's where the boot.ini was and that file needed to be modified to add the path to the Win64 install.
Since you took out the array the Win64 install created a new boot.ini on the PATA drive. Even when you tell BIOS to boot off the array, Windows has a bad habit of looking at the IDE channels & using the boot.ini if it finds one there - but the file it found didn't point to the array of course.
So basically if you already have Win32 on the array I would leave that array connected normally when installing Win64 on the PATA drive and all should be well.
I've installed Win64 on the same array as my Win32 install and they co-exist happily. I reckon that's the most efficient way to do it. The main thing is to make separate partitions for Win32, Win64 and data files when you install Win32 in the first place. The two OSs can share the same data files, incuding stuff like email.

  • Enabling GPU for WinXP 32 bit in CS5

Need some help.  I've been looking through the registry under Adobe and found under Shockwave 11 two folders.  renderer3dsetting and renderer3dsettingPerm.  Do these have anything to do with Photoshop CS5's default to grey out the GPU acceleration in WinXP 32 bit?
I know my card has GPU and OpenGL.
Or is this stuff for the internet?

Just to let you know, Chris is the guy who programmed Photoshop to do that, so I think you can probably trust what he says over what you've interpreted from Adobe's web site.

  • Website mp3 not playing WinXP 64-bit using Firefox but plays using IE

I have a website with embedded mp3 soundtracks that work fine when using IE but not with Firefox (latest version.11Beta). Have tried all the suggested plug-ins to no avail. Running WinXP 64-bit
2003 SP2. Video & soundtrack works fine on other websites such as u-tube.

That's because Firefox doesn't support playing mp3 files. It will play them if they are contained in a Flash audio or video player (like youtube) but not by themselves. If you are using the <audio> html element you can define multiple source files. Here are some instructions from our developer website - https://developer.mozilla.org/en/Using_HTML5_audio_and_video You can create an Ogg audio file that will work with Firefox by using a program like Audacity - http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

  • Where are WinXP 32-bit drivers to install CP1518 connected to Win7 64-bit

I have a CP1518ni connected locally via USB to a Win7 64-bit PC. I want to print to this printer from a WinXP 32-bit PC. The printer is shared under Win7. When I try to add a printer under WinXP, is sees the shared printer and asks for the location of the driver. I've downloaded and installed various PCL6 drivers, the Universal PLC6 driver and even inserted the original CD-ROM for the printer. No matter what location I give, it says an appropriate driver is not found. I had no problem when the printer was connected to another WinXP PC, which has now been replaced by a Win7 PC. Is it that a 32-bit PC cannot use the printer when it's connected to a 64-bit PC? I've spent several hours trying to install it and it should not be this difficult. Can someone tell me where I can find the WinXP drivers for a CP1518ni?

A little more progress on this issue: You must install the Universal PCL6 drivers on the Win7 PC, and include the WinXP PCL6 drivers there too. The printer was installed using standard Win7 drivers, which leads to the problem. Now I can install the printer as I normally would on my WinXP PC and it finds the drivers to install. Now the problem is, whenever I print to that printer on my WinXP PC, the queue either shows a print error, or, the print job continually shows it is printing, then spooling, then printing, then spooling, etc. These lines rapidly and alternately flash in the print queue window and the job never prints. I've disabled my WinXP firewall and removed user name/password credentials on the Win7 PC.

  • WinXP-64 bit corrupts existing RAID array

I've got an MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum motherboard running Win XP Pro SP2 on two 36 gig SATA Raptors.  Everything was working fine, but I wanted to try the 64 bit version of XP.  Grabbed an old 80 gig PATA drive and threw that in the case.  Unplugged the SATA drives so as not to risk messing with the existing working OS.  Installed the latest 1218 x64 beta and it worked well.
The problem was that when I shut down and reconnected my old RAID array, windows wouldn't boot from it.  I lost everything and had to rebuild Windows from scratch.  So now I know to never unplug the SATA drives
Rebuilt WinXP on the RAID array and then tried rebooting with the PATA drive with the 64 bit OS.  Came up with the "drive needs checking" screen, and proceeds to "fix" the RAID array while ignoring my frantic pounding on the Logitech USB keyboard to stop.  Rebooted and yes, the new install was nuked.  Okay, since it's gone anyway, reboot to the 64 bit OS and make sure it's got the 64 bit RAID drivers installed.
Reinstall WinXP on the RAID array, reboot to the 64 bit OS on the other drive and the same old scandisk comes and nukes it AGAIN!
So now the PATA drive is sitting on the shelf again, unless someone here can suggest what is causing this problem.

  • Connecting Oracle 10.2.0.1 to Crystal Reports 11 in WinXP 64-bit

I'm trying migrating my apps to WinXP x64 (64-bit) due to large (4GB) RAM support.
When running in 32-bit, Oracle and Crystal played well together by ODBC.
When running in 64-bit, with 64-bit Oracle, and 32-bit Crystal, I am having problems with the Oracle ODBC driver. I can create a User DSN and a File DSN that connects on test, but then Crystal rejects it as no database object or driver found. I can create a System DSN that connects on test, but Crystal can't see it.
I assume this has something to do with there being a "Program Files" and "Program Files (32)" and an ODBC directory buried in each, but don't know how to solve this.
Interestingly, SQL-Server 2005 has the same issues with System DNS not seen by Crystal, but UserDSN and FileDSN do connect.

  • Any ETA on WinXP 64-bit drive

I have Audigy 2 ZS sound card and i really would like to start using 64-bit version of the WinXP but due to the lack of drivers i can't do so, any ETA on the subject?

Guess it may take some time for the driver since microsoft had not officially release the OS although it's due soon this month i tink and there's not much program that utilize it either. You can try the beta driver Shingo mention though.

  • WinXP 64 Bit Drivers for T61 Thinkpad (7661-G28)

I installed Vista64 on an additional drive and was constantly running into application crashes as well as what apppears to be system pauses when a window was in focus.   Things just froze and if you brought up task manager they would start responding again.  I installed windows Vista Ultimate (SP1) for this. I was trying to take advantage of all my memory in the system 4GB brecause I am trying to setup a demo disk with Virtual Workstation so I need the memory for the virtual environment.
Anyway I gave up (after learning about how to remove the new Vista boot loader on a dual boot machine) and decided to go back to 64 bit XP to get a stable system.  The problem with this is of course the lack of driver support for 64 bit XP on thinkpads.  I have read  most of the posts in the forum on 64 bit options for XP and I have tried all of the suggestions for them.  I still do not have but one drivers active.  I was able to get the Ethernet driver working but still can not load the wireless (4965AG), audio(SoundMax Digital HD AUdio), SM Driver, or video (Intel 965 Chipset) drivers.  Has anyone had any luck with a model T61 and 64 bit drivers for Windows XP(64)?
    Any help is appreciated.

i've never tried before but my personal opinion, it won't work.

  • The procedure entry point GetTickCount64 could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll in WinXP 32 bit.

I recently re-installed WinXP, on a computer that had WinXP on it already. I am not a developer. Before re-installing the application worked fine. After, well I get this error after running this particular application. I used all of the same drivers as
before when fixing video card, audio, and network driver errors. I don't know what I've done differently from any other time I've installed WinXP.

    >The thing I don't understand is why it worked on WinXP before but not now. It's the same, it was XP before, it's XP now.
But as Pavel A tried to point out, were you using a different
(earlier) version of the application before?
