How To import collection from Bridge cs6 To Bridge CC??
A collection is a bunch of aliases to the original files in their original place. If you have upgraded to CC on the same machine you can use the same collection, on a different machine it will possible not find the correct location again.
On a Mac the path for the saved collections is : User / library/ application Support / Adobe/ BridgeCS6 / collections. Inhere are the saved collections showing the names you gave them. You can copy these collection files to the same location in Bridge CC.
If you have a different machine you best first choose the collection and add a keyword with the name of the collection to all the files in this particular collection so you can use the find command to easily recreate the collection on your new machine.
Maybe someone with more knowledge of Windows can show you the correct path but it should be something similar as on a Mac.

  • How to modify Bridge CS6 default sub-folder date format while importing?

How could I modify Bridge CS6 default sub-folder date format when we are importing images from a connected camera? Default format for shooting date is aaaammjj. I would like instead aaaa_mm_jj. How could I add "_" to the date format?

You only can do so after the import process using a third party app called A better finder Rename,  originally designed for Mac but they seem to have a Windows version also:

  • How to import keywords into Bridge CS6?

I have hundreds of keywords I've included in Templates and I want to add the keywords to the Kaywords panel in cs6 bridge. How can I import them so they appear as individual keywords which I can then categorize into groups and subgroups? Thanks from Kodiak, Alaska.

    Hi Marion,
Have you seen this help document? It goes over the basics of Bridge keyword support.

And here's quick post that walks thru importing steps (I think it's still relevant to Bridge CS6).

  • Why when I add/import bridge CS6 photos into Lightroom 5 the photo totals don't match?

I have added about 3,200 photos into Bridge CS6 and many have been edited.  I went into Lightroom to Library/Import/add and only about 2800 were added.  Anyone know why I don't see all of them?  I even double check the import and don't see any new ones that I missed.  Hope it's something simple.

    Found it.
At first I was scared off because LR showed the same amount of photos to be imported the second time as it did before the first import.
Fortunately, the second import did nothing but import the new photos.
    Thanks.

Wen oder Was?
    Was bisher geschah:
    Was nicht funktionierte:
Und nun wieder viel Spaß beim photoshopen!!!

  • File Associations in Bridge CS6

I upgraded CS5 Design Premium to CS6 Design & Web Premium. Most of my preferences (layout, etc) were imported correctly from CS5. When I right-click (PC, Windows 7) on the Bridge CS6 thumbnail, and click on 'Open with ...', there was a collection of Microsoft programs (COM Surrogate 6.1, Microsoft PowerPoint 12.0, Publisher 12.0, Windows Live Photo Gallery 15.4), and no Photoshop (Default). When I used  the WIndows fille-associations program, and Photoshop CS6 was associated with *.psd files, then it appeared in the 'Open with ...' menu as Photoshop (Default). However, the other Microsoft programs are still present. How do I get rid of these and add the relevant Adobe programs (Ai, Id, Dw, etc), please?

With Windows 7 unfortunately you're not really given the tools to completely manage what shows up in the context menu.  It seems to be part of Microsoft's strategy of oversimplifying things, even when there's loss of functionality, so that laypeople don't find Windows daunting.  I always figured better education and help facilities ought to do the trick, but they continually take the power to control one's own computer away.  You don't want to know what's coming in Windows 8.

  • Can't open files in Camera Raw while in Bridge CS6

    05/30/2014
Believe this issue/problem happened after automatic update from Adobe (but can't be sure).
Have always uploaded files from camera into Bridge then do some editing by opening JPEG and RAW (NEF) files in Camera Raw from Bridge.
Now, "Open in Camera Raw" is greyed out and I am unable to find a way to open files with Camera Raw from inside Bridge CS6.  This seemed to happen suddenly and without any new software or applications being added to computer.  All other apps/software working well.
Have tried various fixes found on Adobe community discussions without success.  Problem now ongoing for over a week +.
Am able to open files in Photoshop with no problem but want to be able to do some quick edits using Camera Raw opening files from Bridge CS6.
I'm using Bridge CS6 Version 5.0.2.4.  (as part of Adobe Creative Suite 6).  Updater states I have most current version of Bridge installed.
I'm using an iMac computer with Intel Core i7 processor
    OS X 10.8.5
Have found others with this same or very similar problems on forums but either can't understand patches/directions or unable to complete instructions on my computer.
for example see:  Camera RAW update issue with Bridge CS6
From that link/discussion, one finds this "solution":
After you update to Camera Raw 8.4, Bridge CS6 in Mac OS doesn't display image metadata or allow you to edit images in Camera Raw.
    To the top
Manually install the Camera Raw 8.4 plug-in.
    Exit Adobe Bridge.
    Download the file below.
Locate and double-click the downloaded file to decompress it. The resulting file is Camera Raw.plugin.
Navigate to the Macintosh HD folder.
Open the Library/Application Support/Adobe/Plug-Ins/CS6/File Formats folder.
IMPORTANT: Navigate to the root Library folder on your hard disk, not the Library folder under your user folder.
Copy the Camera Raw.plugin from step 3 into the File Formats folder.
IMPORTANT: This new file overwrites the file already in this folder. It's important that only one Camera Raw.plugin file is in this folder.
    Open Adobe Bridge.
    Camera Raw.plugin.zip
Mac OS Camera Raw 8.4 plug-in for manual installation
However, when I try the above, I have these issues:
    1.  When I double click on the downloaded file, my computer opens PhotoShop and an error message is displayed that states "Could not complete your request because Photoshop does not recognize this type of file."  (I suspect this may mean my computer has automatically decompressed the file, but I am not certain of that).
    2.  Not completely certain I know how to "Navigate to the Macintosh HD folder" as suggested in step 4. above (OK, I'm new to Mac; long-time PC user….)
    3.  When I am in "Finder" and click on "GO" while holding down "Option" key, I find "Library".  within that, I can find "Library/Application Support/Adobe" but there is no "Plug-Ins" folder within the "Adobe" subfolder.
    4.  Not sure how to tell if I am in the "root Library" on my hard disk vs. "Library under my user folder".  (Again, new to Mac….)
I have NOT yet tried doing an "Uninstall" and then Re-installing the whole Adobe Creative Suite 6 and would like to avoid that if possible.
Would absolutely LOVE it if Adobe would simply push an update that would fix this problem or if someone would explain to me how I could restore the earlier version that worked perfectly for me.
Any help, suggestions (in very basic, simple terms that any idiot new to the world of Macintosh can understand) would be appreciated.  Very frustrated with Adobe at the moment.
Mostly have liked the switch to Mac, but with this and my photo workflow coming to a screeching halt, having second thoughts.  (But I suppose Adobe update for PC may cause problems as well.)
Thanks in advance for any help/suggestions.

    05/30/2014
Literally minutes after I posted the above, I figured this out myself and now I'm a happy camper and things are back to normal!
Here was my error/issue:  as a new Mac user, I was not negotiating/finding files on my hard drive correctly.
In case there are others out there with this same issue (and as dense as I apparently am ):
Here is what I did that resulted in a fix:
    First Steps:
    1. Quit/close Bridge
    2. As noted in post above, go to this link to download Camera Raw Plugin file:
Camera RAW update issue with Bridge CS6
Link to get to download is near end of instructions, but I will attempt to insert that link to download here:
    Camera Raw.plugin.zip
    3.  Once file has been downloaded, find it by using "Finder" Click on "Finder" and look on list of options on left side of Finder window to find "Downloads".  On my computer, when clicking on "Finder" these options appear in the list at the left:
    All My Files
    Airdrop
    Applications
    Desktop
    Documents
    Downloads
    Movies
    Music
    Pictures
    4.  Download you just did should be at or near the top of your downloads list and should be named as "Camera Raw.plugin"  and will be 83.5 MB in size
    5.  I right-clicked (two fingers on touchpad) to bring up drop down options and selected "Copy 'Camera Raw.plugin'" from that list to copy file.
Now, you have copied the plug in that will fix this issue.  The second set of steps below will walk you through how to replace the file that is on your hard drive with this plug in file that you have copied.
Second set of steps (and this is where, as a new Mac user, I was confused initially)
    1. Again, click on "Finder" on your Mac
    2.  On top of screen, find "GO" and click on that.  (You should see "Finder" in the upper right corner of your screen, then "File, Edit, View, GO, Window, Help"  Click on the GO
    3.  In drop down menu that appears, click on "Computer"
    4.  Then, double click on "Macintosh HD" to open your hard drive
    5.  Next, double click on "Library" folder to open that.
    6.  Next, click on "Application Support" folder to open that.
    7.  Then, double click on "Adobe" folder to open that.
    8.  Then, double click  on "Plug Ins" folder to open that
    9.  Now, double click on "CS6" to open that folder.
    10.  Finally, double click on the "File Formats" folder that appears.
    11.  NOW, you should see this:
    12.  Right click (two finger press if using a touch pad) to open window with options.  Select "Paste Item" by clicking on that option.
    13.  You will be prompted with an option to keep existing file OR replace the file.  Choose "Replace" to past the new "Camera Raw.plugin" file to this folder.
Finally, if you now go back and open Bridge CS6, you should be good to go.
Hope that helps someone out there.
Hopefully future updates will from Adobe will be better.

  • Adobe Bridge CC (Mac) isn't showing collections generated in Bridge CS6

Opening Adobe Bridge CC doesn't show the collections I generated in Adobe Bridge CS6. Both versions of Bridge are on the same Mac and opened within the same User account (of the operating system). In Bridge CS6 (which seems to not open while running Bridge CC) still shows the collections and smart collections.
    Question:
Is there any way to import these collections or is there another way to show those collections in Bridge CC?

Is there any way to import these collections or is there another way to show those collections in Bridge CC?
Collections are version and user specific. If you want them also in CC you have to copy the collection files manually from CS6 to CC
Open two windows in your finder. Go to the user library (per OSX10.7 hidden by default, use menu Go with option to reveal) and follow this path:
user (your username)/ Library/ Application Support / Adobe/ Bridge CS6 / Collections. inhere should be some files with your saved collection names and the extension .filelist
Copy these to the same location but now instead of CS6 CC.
This should make you collections also available in Bridge CC after restarting it.
Be careful to depend on collections, they are not all that reliable for the long run. If you have put a lot of work in one collection then select all and add the name of the collection also as a keyword to the files itself, this way you have a good back up when things go wrong

  • Bridge CS6 freezing on OSX 10.8.2 (Mountain Lion)

I am entering this because it is solved and may help others...

    PS CS6, Bridge CS6
Recurring and repeatable problem where Bridge would send OSX into the "spinning  wheel" and lockup the entire system. The only way out was to force a hard reset via button and reboot. It appeared as though the problem occured when I tried to create a new folder so I concluded that it might be a problem with the interaction with Bridge and the underlying File System. Tried: 1) upgrading to latest version of Bridge 2) upgrading from Lion to Mountain Lion. Problem persisted.
After numerous attempts, I discovered that the problem was only repeatable in a certain directory. The directory was from a photoshoot with a mixture of RAW and JPEG shots from a Nikon D7000 so the RAW files were .NEF format. I wondered if there was a problem with the .NEF files since I had just started using RAW. The camera produces both .NEF and .JPG and both get dumped in Bridge. Important: Even though I was able to see other directories with the same mix of files, Bridge kept complaining that there was an problem in the "cache" and that I needed to go to Properties->Cache->Purge Cache to "Purge all Thumbnails and Previews" -- which I did, but the problem persisted with this singular directory.
Next, I went to Finder to see if the folder/directory was readable there. Since there seemed to be a problem with the "Thumbnails and Previews" I put Finder in "columns" mode so it was forced to create a preview. I figured if there was a problem creating previews or thumbnails, a lower level render via Finder would be a good test. I went through all 200 files in the directory to see that the previews were created easily. Each preview popped up in under 1 sec. BUT, then I encountered a RAW .NEF file that took over a minute to render and finally showed up as a thumbnail instead of a preview.  I concluded that the .NEF file was corrupt and deleted it AND the corresponding .JPG and the problem was solved. Bridge was able to browse (create thumbnail and previews in cache).
Note to Adobe Devs: Bridge needs to have much better recovery from situtations like this. There was clearly NO TIMEOUT on Bridge's efforts to render thumbnails and previews on the corrupted RAW file. Bridge should timeout and present a meaningful error.

"Target folder can not be created" and the pdf message: "There is insufficient disk space to complete this operation"
Assuming you do have enough disk space left (less then 10 % of total amount available for free space is bringing sooner rather then later in to trouble) and you also have sufficient amount of RAM (more then 4GB is strongly advised especially if you are running multiple applications) and also enough VRAM (CS6 needs at least 500MB but 1 GB will give you more benefit).
And also assuming you have run the Adobe Updater for latest Bridge (5.0.1.21) then the first thing I would try is a restart holding down option key and choose reset preferences and then try again.
Personally I don't use Web Gallery but I do use the Output Module almost daily for creating PDF contact sheets (have also multiple custom templates) and have no problem at all using it.
(only difference is I'm still at 10.7 while you moved to Mountain Lion)
Could you report back if this helped you, if not you have to also delete the bridge plist file from user library.

Not sure how to install as  a different user (meaning install Adobe Creative Suite as a different user?)
What Curt means is that you create a new user account (system preferences/ users) just to see if Bridge runs from this account.
By default your applications should be installed on root level and you work in your user (home) account. Several users can be set up on one machine, while each users has its own user library they can all make use of the central application folder on root level.
Just to test and rule out the possibility your current user account is to blame for this.
I did uninstall both photoshop and illustrator twice before reinstlling. I have cleaned/optimized with MacScan and CCLeaner.
Uninstall using official uninstaller with deactivating and removing preferences?
Reinstall an application is no guarantee for overwriting older problem settings, to be sure you have to use the Adobe Cleaner Tool.
And as Curt already stated, using third party apps and anti virus on a Mac is not always a success, sometimes files that you need for an application might get lost.
I never have had the need of a virus scan on a Mac in all 20 years, yet I tried some and ended always up in trouble.
CCleaner is original designed for Windows, would be a no go for me alone for that reason, both systems are not really comparable regarding maintenance and security
When you let an application decide to automatically get rid of unused files you certainly can run in to trouble. If you keep to a proper back up system and time machine, combined with common sense in handling spooky email and websites you don't need a virus scan for the Mac, they all promise a lot but still get much difference in rating and reviews.
Use a combo update for the MacOsX same version (in your case 10.7.xx) and when upgrading to a new version (would be 10.8) in your case I would bite the bullet, make a back up of all import files and a copy of this for extra security.
Be sure to have all serial numbers etc as well as as custom settings for actions, tools, keywords (from your user library / Application support folder/ Adobe you will find most of those custom settings stored) also backed up (the user library is hidden by default per OSX7, use menu go with option to reveal, when in doubt just copy the content of the whole user library to an external disk in a back up folder that is not named 'library' but an other custom name you can always find lost settings back if needed, for instance, your mail account from Apple mail stores all mail in the user library).
And of course, be sure to have all folders in your user account (music, documents etc) included in the back up.
And then start from scratch with a newly formatted disk, installing system and then applications. It takes some time and effort but you end up with a brand new system with all default settings, leaving out all messy settings and files from prior systems and applications.
If you must then use the option to only copy settings from time machine or other Mac but don't copy your application folder and files on install, just take some time and make a real start from scratch.

  • Bridge CS6 Previews of raw-files have bad (pixelated) quality after editing.

I'm having problems with using Bridge for browsing my pictures. Preview quality of edited raw (nef) files is terrible. It looks like a very low quality jpeg. The untouched NEF's are fine, and saving the edited NEF as PSD also gives a perfect preview.
    Purging Cache doesn't work.
    I'm using:
Operating System: Windows 7 64-bit Version: 6.1 Service Pack 1
    Adobe Bridge CS6 5.0.2.4 x64
    Camera Raw 7.3.0.71
    Adobe Photoshop Version: 13.0.1  x64
    2x Monitor 1920 x 1200
    Photo's made with Nikon D800E (7360 x 4912 px)
See screenshots of settings. Any Suggestions?

    What I find frustrating is:
    1. Raw previews look like crap compared to the file itself.
    2. Its possible to generate decent previews by a complicated purging-process.
I can imagine you are frustrated.
There are two differences on my set up so I can't check, first I use a Mac and you are on Windows and I use Canon and you Nikon.
However it should not result in this much visible flaws in the preview.
There can be a lot of cache files but Camera Raw Cache is something completely different then Bridge Cache.
Camera Raw is a .dat file and contains some info from the raw settings and probably other stuff that I can't find, it states being a video file but you can't play them.
Bridge cache are jpeg files that you can view, even without Bridge, for example they can be opened in PS itself without problems.
If you have set to build all at 100% then it will generate jpeg files in the original size at a high quality jpeg setting.
As said, I have a Mac but Yammer or Curt can provide you with the correct path to find the Bridge Cache folder yourself.
On my System this is in the user Library / caches/ Adobe/ Bridge CS6 and inhere is a folder called cache. This folder contains 4 folders.
    - 256   : contains the thumbnails, very small files (in the range of 10 to 50 kb)
    - 1024 : contains the HQ previews, relatively large files (500 KB to 3 MB, depending on the files itself)
    - data  : a text file containing all sorts of info, don't know what exactly but is a text file that also can grow to several 100 MB
    - Full   : in here are the 100 % previews settled and they can grow to huge proportions ( around 10 MB for 18 MP files, depending on file size and content etc)
If you have set to keep 100 % previews in Bridge prefs this last folder (full) will be taking a lot of space on your disk
If you also have set to export cache to folder it creates same size (hidden) files with this cache in the folder itself.
I never understood the need for export cache to folders for several reasons, first and most important, I had a longstanding bug preventing me from doing so (error message about overwriting a CacheT file) but also each version of Bridge has a different Cache format and you can't read older cache files. Also reading the cache file (especially when on DVD etc) takes a very long time. For purpose of needing to view archived files on external devices you better select the 'Prefer Embedded' option, works faster ten reading earlier exported cache.
Not sure how you did purge the Bridge Cache but in your case I would Quit Bridge and find the equivalent Cache folder on Windows (Yammer, Curt?).
manual delete this Cache folder with all its content and restart Bridge.
This provides you with a new, fresh but very empty cache file. You need to recache the lot for the previews.
If you are not sure just try it for experiment, move the old folder outside the library and try it. If it does not make any difference just Quit and replace the old file

  • Bridge CS6 will not start in Windows 7

    Bridge CS6 (both 32 and 64) don't start in Windows 7.
Bridge starts in Task Manager for a few seconds, but goes away.  No errors, no logs.
I have tried all the suggestions I've found within the forums, including checking settings,, temp environment variables, deleting C:\Users\[your user name]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Bridge CS6 (including the directory itself), etc.  No luck.   Adding a new user, then using it to start Bridge worked great, but that is not really a solution.  One added piece of info:  Bridge did recreate the above directory before dying, although it remains empty.  I haven't found any logfiles that might help understand how far it got.   Is there a log file or a registry setting that will enable detailed logging to help diagnose this?
I managed to gather a temp xml file that has some info that might help.  This file shows up for the few seconds when Bridge is running.

There is obviously something in my normal user's profile or environment that is getting in the way of startup.  Yes, my normal user is an admin. You (Adobe) have the code and the startup can't be that convoluted. Someone should be able to walk the code, figure out what things are checked between creating the above directory and the next externally detectable step (like creating a file in this directory or logging something into a log file), then reply here with a list of specific things to check.
I got into a chat with Adobe support several days ago, where I went through several steps of ensuring I was using a properly licensed version only to be told that he didn't know Bridge and asked that I call during the day on Monday. The sign off message to that chat was funny - they mentioned 24x365 support :-) Luckily, I've worked support in my past and I have a sense of humor.
I tried to file a bug form the web, but failed to navigate the amazingly bad support web experience of Adobe.com.  At one point, I had found a place to do it, pasted the above into that window, then tried to submit - I wasn't logged in.  So, I clicked the login link and got an error pop-up window with a bad-link error.  I came in fresh - logged in, then could not find that "report a bug" screen again.  Truly amazing.  But I guess, if you cannot report a bug, it doesn't exist - so congratulations on your bug-free products.
    A suggestion:
Provide a simple link to report a bug that's not tied to a service plan.  It would simply be a way to tell you about problems with the hope that a solution could be provided in a future release - these can optionally be logged to the forums for community involvement.  I don't mind logging in to prove I'm a valid user.

Adobe staff has to browse these forums on their own time (I know that should be part of their job) so their visits are infrequent.
There are several sites to report bugs which seems to be counterproductive.   I think this one has the most support right now. http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family
And you are sure you are not running Bridge CS5 in the background?  You can only run one Bridge program at any one time.
In both the Mac and Win OS seems like the workaround to create a new user works frequently, but it is a hassle.  In your problem solving did you unistall everything then run the Adobe Script Cleaner?
Although this is a stretch for this problem, but might search your uninstall directroy and see if there are any expired Adobe trials you have not uninstalled.  For whatever reason it can stop launch of Bridge "as you need to launch parent application at least once".  Apparently even though it is long gone it is still seeing it as "parent" program.  As I said it is kind of a stretch here, but you never know.
Good luck on this as I know it is extrememly frustrating and Adobe does have its communication problems.
That is why it is important for the users to step up and start contributing to these forums with suggestions on what to try, thiings they have tried and worked or did not, etc.

  • Adobe Bridge CS6 - Contact.pdf document?

    Hi There,
I am using Adobe Bridge CS6 and am attempting to create a multi photograph contact.pdf sheet to upload to a web site. The tutorial instructs me to select the pictures - done, then window - workspace and output.  However once I get to that point there is no facility for output. The tutorial does sugest that if output is not diplayed, then to go to Ctrl. K and select it from the start up script.  Guess what! Nothing there to help me.
Any one got any ideas please?

First try a restart of Bridge holding down control key and from the menu choose reset preferences.
Try again. If no luck double check in Bridge preferences start up scripts. Inhere should be a script called Adobe Output Module and it should have a checkmark in front.
If no start up script at all consider  first to check for latest updates and maybe un install of Photoshop CS6 (includes Bridge CS 6) using the official uninstaller in PSCS6 and a reinstall.
Be sure to have your serial number at hand and back up important settings for security. When you don't select to remove the photoshop settings file it should reinstall with your same custom settings. Then run the updater and try again.
