Dirrerence between backward scheduling and forward scheduling

hi Friends,
This is madhusudhan i need diff b/w backward scheduling and forward scheduling
plz do  the needfull asap

Hi,
Backward scheduling is the calculation of deadline dates: the arrival time at the customer site is calculated as the earliest possible goods receipt time at the customers unloading point on the requested delivery date. All four of the delivery and transportation scheduling lead times are subtracted from the customer’s requested delivery date to determine if this date can be met.
The transit time, loading time, and pick/pack time are subtracted from the customer’s requested delivery date to calculate the required material availability date.
The system calculates backward scheduling as follows:
Requested delivery date minus transit time  = Goods issue date
Goods issue date minus loading time = Loading date
Loading date minus transportation lead time = Transportation scheduling date
Loading date minus pick/pack time = Material availability date
Forward scheduling is also done if no product is available on the material availability date calculated by backward scheduling. The system does an availability check to determine the first possible date when product will be available. This new material availability date forms the starting point for scheduling the remaining activities.  The loading time, pick/pack time, transit time, and transportation lead time are added to the new material availability date to calculate the confirmed delivery date.

  • Back and forward scheduling

    hi gurus,
Is there any control key that how the system moves from backward scheduling to forward scheduling
    thanks
    raju

    Hi,
There is no control key for the system to do backward or forward scheduling.
these two are dependend on the material availability date and requested delivery date.
If the stock of the material is available , the system will do the backward schedule , if there is no stock the system will do the forward schedule.
the difference is the schedule line items in the sales order.
if one schedule line item then backward , if two schdedule line item in the sales order is two then forward scheduling

  • Explain How delivery date is calculated using backward and forward schedul

How can anyone please explain how delivery date is calculated using forward and backward scheduling
I want to have it broken down into the following steps
for eg for delivery date calculation following dates are used
    Material Availabilty Date
    Material Staging Date
    Pick/pack time
    Transportation PLanning date
    Loading date
    Goods issue date
    Transit Date
    Delivery Date
Can some one please give me an example and explain wht these dates are
for eg customer needs delivery date on  11/20/2008
how would the system cacluate whether it can meet the delivery date using backward scheduling
and if it doesnt meet how does the system do the forward scheduling
also i am not clear with the following dates
    material avaialibilty date
    material staging date
    transportation date
can some one please explain me all this in detail
    Thanks

    Hi,
Basically this is the CRSD(Customer requested ship date logic)logic in which system calculates the ship date depends upon the material availability. If material is available system calculates ship date on the basis of master data maintained in customisation.Master data is maintained in the  following link.
If material is not available then system takes into consideration vendor delivery date & then calculate customer ship date.
Please go through the link in SPRO
LE-Shipping -Basic shipping functions-Scheduling -Delivery scheduling & Transportation scheduling-Maintain duration.
In customisation following data is maintained
    Material Availabilty Date
    Material Staging Date
    Pick/pack time
    Transportation PLanning date
    Loading date
    Goods issue date
    Transit Date
    Delivery Date
Hope you got the idea of CRSD calculation

  • Scheduling and external scheduling in plant maintenance

    hi expert ,
can you explain the scheduling in plant maintenance step by step beside external scheduling and how to made the external scheduling in IDS system also i read the sap help links about external scheduling and add the external scheduling in the order type pm01 and add the:
Function Module PM_ORDER_EXTERN_SCHED_DIALOG in Configure Communication in the (D: For scheduling in dialog with external scheduling) should be dialog box Scheduling agreement appears after the order has been scheduled and this is not appear and information message (Link to the scheduling system could not be built) is appear.
    is any configuration missing.
    thanks sadin

    Hi,
I understand you want to practice in IDES.  But to work with external scheduling you need a third party system that performs the scheduling. The idea of this type of scheduling is that the SAP ERP system interfaces with this other system (for example Click Software). It is this interfaced system that calculates the scheduling dates and passes them back to SAP.
Without such a third party system you cannot perform external scheduling. You error does indicate that it cannot communicate with such a system:

  • How to configure work schedules and work schedule rules?

    Can some one pleas help!

After the path suggested above, the last but one step will be
--- Set work schedule rules and work schedules
    Last step will be
--->generate work schedules manually ---> Create work schedule -->click create all --->you will start seeing a calender for every month you specified.
Eg: you specify that you need work schedule from march 2008 to Dec 2008, first march work schedule is generated.
Save it. Hit enter to generate April calender and so on. Keep saving till the end.

Their group has now requested that on certain holidays (thanksgiving, labor day, etc), all numbers be forwarded to Office 2 and another set of holidays (memorial day, presidents day, etc) forward to Office 3. I've looked at Unity holiday schedules and read over some options and it seems like I would have to get rid of the time period/schedules that I have set up in CUCM and set up a call handler with schedules and holiday schedules. How complex will this be? Can this even be done with the way they want it?

  • Disable forward scheduling for a specific material

    Hi experts.
We have a requirement to disable forward scheduling for a specific material during ATP check in sales order and delivery processing. I played with some configurations in "Basic functions > Availability check and transfer of requirements" and "Basic functions > Delivery scheduling and transportation scheduling", but none could help.
    Notice: we use APO.
    Example:
Material X - has 108 pieces in stock and a production order of 1000 pieces scheduled on Feb 11.
If I place a sales order of 109 pieces with requested delivery date of Feb 8, I need the system to not confirm this quantity, instead of confirming the quantity on Feb 13, as of standard behavior.
    Regards,
    Fábio Scaravelli

Unfortunately, I do not know much about APO. However, I had a quick look and saw the the function responsible for scheduling in APO is /SAPAPO/APO_SCHEDULING. Within this FM, there are two user exits called:
    EXIT_/SAPAPO/SAPLVCRM_001
    EXIT_/SAPAPO/SAPLVCRM_002
I am unsure if these can be utilised to achieve the desired behaviour. However, they may be worth investigating.

  • Difference mpr controller and production scheduling profile (exact)

    hi gurus
wht is difference between mrp contoller and production scheduling profile. and which will come first at the time of planning.
    thanks in adavance
    avinash.pegarlawar

    Hi,
    MRP controller
MRP Controller is the person responsible for a group of materials in MRP in a plant or company.
Material that takes part in material requirements planning must be assigned to an MRP controller.
    Production scheduler
Scheduler responsible for a material in production activity control.
    Example
The production scheduler determines how capacity requirements are calculated for a material during a scheduling run.
MRP Controller comes into Planning first which you need to assign in MRP-1 View in material master while production scheduler you need to assign iin Work Scheduling View in Material Master.
Hope this helps clearing your doutb.

  • App Compatibility Submission Fee and Payment Schedule

We are trying to submit an app for Windows 8.1 compatibility logo.  We login to the dashboard and submit the report created by the App Certification kit.  Next, the web site shows the "Legal Agreements".  We click on the link "Windows
Certification Program Testing Agreement v1.0".  Section 6a of this agreement reads "Company will pay Microsoft for the amounts due for testing Company Products under this Agreement according to the fee schedule and payment schedule posted at
the WDC Website and/or Microsoft’s invoices...".  But we could not find this schedule anywhere.  Anybody knows how much this charge will be?  Thanks.

From the Windows Hardware Certification Program: "...  If you have new or updated drivers, systems, or peripheral hardware that you want available for Windows, then you must certify them..."
This does not apply to us.  Ours is user app running on Windows 8.1.  Basically we like to have our app listed when search on the page below:
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/compatibility/CompatCenter/Home
We have done this many times in the past.  We release a new version and need to have it listed there.  The procedure is:
    - Run the App Certification kit get a report with "passed" status
    - Login to https://sysdev.microsoft.com, go to the Dashboard and submit the report.
    - Wait for a while and the program will be listed in the Compatibility Center page.
We do not see any fee requirements before.  But now the "Legal Agreements" is shown when we try to submit the report. We do not mind paying a fee if it is reasonable. The problem is we don't know what the fee is and cannot find out where it
is posted. (We believe it is part of the yearly membership fee, but just want to make sure).

  • MRP Behaviour with and without Scheduled SO

    Hi,
How MRP would behave when there are Scheduled and non scheduled SO's with in the system?would MRP conisder non sched SO?
If invemtory is reserverd fof non scheduled Sales Oders, how Mrp would behahve,.would it consider the reverve items?

MRP only considers scheduled SO's. Any other is ignored.
when you schedule the SO the visible_demand_flag field is set to Y in oe_order_lines_all. Only then does MRP sees the SO.

  • DELIVERY AND TRANSPORTATION SCHEDULE

    HI
How we configured delivery and transportation's schedule in sap please explain configuration steps
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Reddy,
    Delivery Scheduling and Transportation Scheduling
Shipping activities and transportation can be scheduled automatically in sales documents.
Picking/packing and loading, transportation scheduling and transportation can be planned and optimized on the basis of the dates determined.
There are two different types of scheduling:
    Delivery scheduling
The SAP System takes into account the pick/pack time and loading time for a transaction.
You define the type of delivery scheduling for each shipping point.
    Transportation scheduling
The SAP System takes into account the transit time and the transportation scheduling time for a transaction.
You define the type of transportation scheduling on the basis of the route (see sections "Route definition" and "Route determination").
You define for each sales document type whether delivery scheduling and/or transportation scheduling should be carried out.
For the dates to be determined automatically on the basis of the requested delivery for an order item, you must define both the times and what influences the determination of the date.
You need to carry out the following:
Define for each sales document type whether scheduling is to be carried out and, if so, which type.
Define the indicators for scheduling for each shipping point.
    Define:
    Pick/pack times
    Please fallow below steps:
SPRO > Logistic Execution > Shipping > Basic Shipping Functions > Scheduling > Delivery Scheduling and Transportation Scheduling
STEP 1: Define Scheduling by Sales Document type
Here have to assign your Sales Document type to your Del and Transportation Scheduling if the system what to carry the Scdheduling Automatically.
STEP 2: Define Scheduling by Shipping Point
Here if you want to carry Determine Loading time  and Determine Pick/Pack time Just select the "C"- Default for Shipping Point and give respective Hours/Days here.
    STEP 3: Maintain Working Hours
Here can maintain shift like ( Morning, Afternoon Shifts etc., with respective Start and Finish time.
    STEP 4:
Here we can difine duration for Shipping point,Routes, Pick/Pack time and Loading time.
Hope this solves your Purpose. Please Reward Points if really helpful,

  • Difference between Scheduling lines and Delivery schedule

    Hi SD Experts
can u say me the clear difference between Scheduling lines and Delivery schedule.
where we will maintain deliver schedule. whether delivery schedule is automatically created along scheduling agreements..
    with regards
    James

    Hi James,
Schedule Lines: Has basically information realted to delivery scheduling in Sales Order level.
Delivery Scheduling: Is a process using which system will determine what are the different activities which need to be performed and time taken for each activitiy only after which the material can be delivered to the customer.
Delievry scheduling will be started only from the material availability date i.e., system will first determine the material avail date and then do scheduling. By default Standard SAP system does Backward Scheduling in case material availability falls beyond the required delivery date system will do forward schedluing
Delivery Scheduling consists of the following Basic activities:
We give deatils while creating order:
    Order Creation Date
    Required Delivery Date
Order date - Material availability date - Transportation Planning Date - Loading date - Goods Issue Date - Required Delivery Date
Time Between GI Date and required Delivery Date is called Transit Time
Time Between LoadingDate and GI Date is called Loading time
Time Between Material Availability Date and Loading Date consists of 2 components - Pick / PackTime and Transportation Planning Time
System has to calculate all this before it determines the confirmed delivery date.
Give your mail Id I have some Presentation I will send you across.

  • DIFFERENCES between BASIC SCHEDULING and LEAD-TIME SCHEDULING.

    Hello SAP Gurus,
Kindly let me know the differences between BASIC SCHEDULING and LEAD-TIME SCHEDULING.
    Looking for your early feedback.
    Warm regards,
    Kaushik.

    Hi,
    Basic scheduling :
    1.Basic dates are calculated.
    2.Exact to day.
    3.No cap reqmts are generated.
4.uses the inhouse production time from material master.
5.carried out automatically during planning run.
In basic date calculation ( order start date/ order finish date ) the system always
    calculates backward scheduling.
    1. From the reqmts date the system subtracts the GR processing time to
    calculate the order fininsh date.
    2. From the order finish date the system subtracts the inhouse production time to calculate the order start date.
    3. From the order start date the system subtracts the opening period given in scheduling margin key to calculate the order opening date.
    Lead time scheduling :
    1.Exact to second
2.ie production start date /time and finish date and time are calculated.
    3. cap reqmts are generated.
    4. uses times from routing.
    5. carried out only if the scheduling mode in MD02 screen is kept with indicator 2.
From the order finish date the system subtracts the float after production to calculate the production finish date.
From the production finish date the individual operations in the routing are scheduled backwards to calculate production start date.
From the production start date the system subtracts the float before production
    to calculate order start date.
