Dirty Grey marks In LCD

Hi
Just recently noticed some dirty grey marks in my LCD, I say in because thats where they are.
These dirty marks are both blotches and streaks.
Areas affected are, bottom left, top left down to about a third way down screen and top right with a couple of small marks about an inch to inch and half in.
I thought they were behind the front panel and caused by the fans sucking in dust. Removed glossy front panel only to find these marks are actually inside the LCD.
Then I thought maybe image persistance, because I have the same wallpaper picture all the time, but I cannot see how the marks match up with the picture used.
Trawled the net to see if I could find some answers, did find some other people who had had the same problem with Mac panels and had sent them in for repair. These people said Apple replaced the LCD and all was OK, but within a few months the problem had returned. So I am now thinking it is a waste of time getting my panel replaced.
Surely this can only be caused by cheapo panels being used ? Sorry to say that about an Apple product but I see no other reason. So what is the way to go if I want to stay with Apple which I do
Only answer I have is to buy a second monitor
Sorry cannot take a picture of the marks........
Anybody got or had similar ?

I did have the same issue, after 6 mounths of use.

My LCD panel have been replaced and till now, no new marks... I've read these marks appeared because of an incorrect sealing of the LCD panel...
So I would advise you to make your LCD changed: thoses marks aren't a fatality.

  • Long grey mark on top of moniter stretches.... burnt?

There's a long grey mark going horizantally on the top of my moniter, I didn't spill anything and it's not something that can be cleaned externally since I tried. The Apple menu covers it, but when I watch a movie or play a game or even use Windows (where the task bar is on the bottom) it is extrememly visible. I would post pic if I could but I don't have a camera handy.
I don't believe I'm on warranty since I didn't get the extended warranty and it's been over a year since I bought it.

  • My iMac 2012 has grey marks/dirt underneath the glass?

I have had this computer for under 2 years and at the bottom corner of my screens are becoming dirty. And it's only getting worse. You can only see the marks when there's plain, light colour behind it. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a way to get rid of it? Or will it cost a lot of money to solve the issue. The pictures don't really do it justice.
    Thanks,
    Matt

This is all at your own risk of course , but you could remove the front glass very carefully (the magnets are strong and when you put it back it wants to pull the screen to the chassis of the computer with some force, so be prepared).
Here's a video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SDciJHx4II4 screen removal is about 48 seconds in (I'm assuming yours is an iMac that has the glass screen that is not glued into position).
P.S. I have done this a couple of times to my two Macs without any problem and I've managed to clean away the grime - just go slowly and carefully. I used my satnav base as a suction cap and found it easier moving the glass from the top edge rather than the side.

  • Small Grey Mark Appeared on Black Part of the Screen (near ear speaker)

I wonder if anyone can help me?
I am very fussy when it comes to my gadgets and keeping them cosmetically perfect from new, so when upgrades come etc I am able to sell on at the best price I can get.
I have a 3G and have owned it for about 3 months. I have kept the phone is a Incase Slider since new to stop the classic apple scratches on the back and the bezel. (I can't understand why Apple use such bad materials that scratch almost just by touching them!)
Has anyone noticed their iphone developing very small dust like marks on the top face by the ear speaker? Mine has one which is very very small but can't see what would have caused this, it's definately not a scratch, more of a very small grey bit that won't wipe off with the supplied cleaning cloth. It's very strange, it looks like a bit of dust but when you go to wipe it, it just stays there, I think it could be part of the black top screen is peeling perhaps.
Has anyone else found any weird looking marks that are don't seem to be on the outside of the screen?
As I said above, I'm very fussy and try very hard to keep my iphone is perfect condition, I've never put it in pocket with keys, money, credit cards etc etc so I'm baffled as to what this strange looking mark is? It's also way to high to be an earing etc.
Can anyone shed any light on this at all?
    Thanks very much,
    very fussy apple customer!!
    Thanks

you should return the device to a nokia care center for inspection

  • BPC 7.5 - Member properties disabled (grey marked)

Since the upgrade to BPC 7.5 some of the member properties are greyed (disabled).
Is it possible to change this setting somewhere?

    Hello Martin,
now it's clear your question. The greyed properties don't have the check on the InApp properties of the dimension, so they aren't available in the OLAP and you can't use they in MDX functions or instructions.
If you need some of these properties on the OLAP you must go on admin console\modify dimension, check "modify dimension property" on step 2, click on step 3 and check the InApp for these properties, so they will be black.
    Kind regards

  • New 27" iMac Screen Has Grey Marks

Called Apple support. They just told me to take into an Apple store. I've had my new iMac for maybe two weeks now and I just started to notice the lower half of my iMac screen has a sort of grey / purple residue throughout. Not sure if it's on the outside or the inside but it appears to be on the out. I've tried wiping the screen several times with the black cloth that came with my computer but nothing gets rid of it. I've also tried a very damp cloth.
    Any ideas?

    I have a late 2009 21.5 iMac.
Last night my friend brought his mid 21.5  2010 iMac here so I could upgrade him to Yosemite ( I have very fast internet).
Anyway, side by side, the 2010 iMac is EXTREMELY bright compared to my late 2009 iMac.
Here is a photo that I took of them to give an idea. I posted a question about it elsewhere here but no responses yet.
You can see the color profiles for each. The 2010 is on the left, 2009 on the right. I wonder if there's a way to adjust the color profile to match the 2010?
If you look ...you can see mine has a grey tinge ....(it looks yellow on my monitor but on the camera and to my eyes, mine is definitely a grey tinge. The 2010 is bright white no matter where you look at it.

  • Colour of Bookmarks Bar is now a dirty looking colour between grey and purpl

First off I've numerous iPads in our household and have just purchased the air model, now I've updated all of my iPads to IOS 8.1 and they are all fin except the book marks bar on my air iPad  which I can only describe as looking a dirty grey/purple. This colour covers most of the bookmarks bar but is rather jagged in looks towards the right hand side. As anyone else come across this problem?

You can do that by using a theme such as Firefox 3 theme for Firefox 4 - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/firefox-3-theme-for-firefox

  • Dirty block?

    Hi!
I have read in the documentation that dirty buffer block are those blocks that have some changed data. I also read some lines as follows...
"Oracle write dirty buffer blocks to the datafiles and closes the datafile."(in the context of taking a tablespace offline NORMAL mode).
i would just like to confirm if my understanding is right that at this point something similar to "auto commit" is performed and the changes commited to the database.
am I right?? I am confused!
    Thanks

Reason 1 :its not that u see with ur naked Eyes
to be simple ...when u load the data its dirty l and whn u calculate the same data its clean thats all
When Intelligent Calculation is enabled, Essbase calculates only dirty blocks and their dependent
parents. When disabled, Essbase calculates all data blocks, regardless of whether they are marked
    as clean or dirty.
    To be much more specific:
    Marking Blocks As Clean
Essbase marks data blocks as clean in these types of calculations:
    ● A full calculation (CALC ALL) of a database (the default calculation).
    ● A calculation script that calculates all the dimensions in one CALC DIM statement.
For example, the following calculation script calculates all members in the Sample Basic
    database:
    CALC DIM(Measures, Product, Market, Year, Scenario);
Compare this calculation script to a calculation script that calculates all the members with
    two CALC DIM statements:
    Marking Blocks as Dirty
Essbase marks a data block as dirty in the following situations:
    ● Calculating the data block for a partial calculation of the database only if SET
CLEARUPDATESTATUS AFTER is not part of the partial calculation statement in the
    calculation script
    ● Loading data into the data block
    ● Restructuring the database (for example, by adding a member to a dense dimension)
    ● Copying data to the data block; for example, using DATACOPY
Reason 2 : I may be making assumptions here, but are you asking how to find out if a cube has dirty blocks? If that is the case there are two ways that I know of
    1) Log into the cube through the excel add-in, go to "Calculation..." and under "Database State" it will say something like "Data values have been changed since the last calculation"
    2) Using the VB API (could be in the other apis too) run the "EsbGetDatabaseInfo" function, then check the "Data" value in the ESB_DBINFO_T structure. if it is not ESB_DBDATA_CLEAN then the data has dirty blocks in it.
Actully it has been discussed earlier this week so ....

  • RGB White showing as Grey.

When I go to Overprint Preview: I get - 'The transparency blending space is set to RGB. Oveprint Preview will only preview overprinting that involves spot colors.'
My Colour settings I currently have:
    Custom
    RGM: Monitor RGB - Display
CMYK: ColorSync CMYK - Generic CMYK Profile
    Color Management Policies:
    RGB: Off
    CMYK: Off
In my overprint preview it shows perfectly like this:
But when I export to pdf I the white is washed out and I get this dirty grey:
Anyone know how to fix this? I do not want to convert to CMYK as the documents are mostly online, however I do sometimes print them.

I do not want to convert to CMYK as the documents are mostly online, however I do sometimes print them.
It's the Export settings that determine whether color will be converted to CMYK, not your Color Settings.
Try using the default North America General Purpose Color Settings, then make a new Web intent document, and Export with the PDF/X-4 preset.
    Color Settings:
A Web intent New document will initially set all color and the Transparency Blend space to RGB. If you don't want pixels you can set the rulers to different units later:
Export to PDF/X-4 which will prevent RGB colors from converting to CMYK, and include the correct RGB profile:

  • Slight superficial marks on new MBP

Just got a new Macbook Pro (my first Mac Laptop) and after 5 days I've just noticed on the bottom left where the gray plastic trim is,there is a slight dent, almost like the plastic wasn't set properly - also on the side there where the silver is it had a dirty black mark on it which has mostly wiped off. Reason I'm asking about it now is that if my mac goes wrong in the future I don't want apple stating I've dropped it at all because of these marks when I haven't.
    http://img390.imageshack.us/my.php?image=img2292yq9.jpg
You can see the "chip" above - I assume people here can judge if they would say I dropped it, although to me it looks like a manufacturing chip.

This does not look like you've dropped it as the plastic isn't chipped or broken.
I'd describe this as... something hot being pressed against it, looks melted in a little.
Either way take it back to the store, i can't guarantee if they will swap it for this as it's considered 'cosmetic' but it's at least worth a try.
If they don't swap it or have it replaced call Apple support line, they will ask your serial number and make a note of it, this will be visible by techs worldwide if they ever check your serial number if you bring your mac in for repair.
    Cheers,
    jay.

  • UPS lost my new MBP

Yesterday, I finally received my new 17" HiDef 4G 250G HD Mac Book Pro after UPS lost it for 24 hours. They delivered it to another address and then insisted that they delivered it to my home! The next day it showed up with no explanation of where it had been.
I've run the machine for the past 24 hours with absolutely no problems. The transition is the easiest I've ever had, going all the way back to the Apple IIE. I opened it up and it immediately logged on to my wireless system.
    Observations:
I got it from MacMall this time to save state sales tax. Also MacMall offered an installation package of bootcamp and XP Pro for less than I could buy the XP Pro by itself. Additionally, they sell a warranty extention for about the same price as Apple Care that does everything Apple Care does AND includes damage protection. In the past, I've had Apple Care and almost never had to use it. The one time I tried to use it when paint boiled off the bezel on my Titanium Power Book from heat, they refused to do anything because it was "cosmetic".
The Hi Def non-glare display is absolutely stunning. It is so bright that it makes the display on my aluminum G4 Powerbook look dirty grey. The large format does do some funky things to some web sites, such as the opening pages here on Apple's discussion page. Even though the window is wide, the displayed page is narrow and forces some of the text to be displayed in columns.
The battery is HUGE, but the mag safe connection is brilliant.
The lighted key board is just right as opposed to the Powerbook where it was useless.
I bought a Targus back pack this time around instead of the brief case I have been using for ten years.
Despite the many compaints here of the new MBP running hot, it had been cooler than my Powerbook. I am going to install a fan utility on the Powerbook to make sure they are working right.
Using the migration utility, I was up and running within 15 minutes. The included software is very extensive. The only thing I added was an upgrade to the newest Photoshop from my existing one. I already had MS Office and removed the demo. iWorks is impressive and I will probably buy it. The only thing that took time after that was figuring out how to transfer bookmarks, my address book, and songs from iTunes.
After closely monitoring some of the problems people have had with the MBP, I have had a tremendous feeling of relief and elation at such a flawless transition.

Nice to hear that you’re happy with your new MacBook Pro. BTW: Unless you really need it, you may want to hold off on iWorks since it’s been awhile since the last upgrade. As you may know, Apple doesn’t offer any discounts on iWorks upgrades and based on history, I would expect to see another revision in the not so distant future.
...Boy, can you imagine what UPS would have to pay if they had truly lost it?!

  • Aren't iPods suffering from overprotection?

I see new skins, cases, protecting films and other accessories to wrap and protect iPods being advertised almost daily. On the other side, there are thousands of posts of users in many different discussion forums who are extremely afraid of getting their iPods scratched or dirty. I myself have bought a few of these accessories. I now have my iPod wrapped in a silicon skin that protects it and was certainly helpful the only time I dropped it, but on the other hand my iPod doesn't fit my pocket anymore, cannot be connected to the dock, and looks different from what it was conceived to look like (I miss its original face). OK, maybe the surface is easily scratchable, but aren't iPods suffering from a severe case of overprotection? All right, it is a pricy item, it is extremely valuable once your entire music library is in it - but maybe iPods were originally conceived to carry all the owner's marks acquired due to regular intended use - like all of us grow old and gray and collect a few wrinkles and spots in the process. Maybe iPods were meant to be scratched, dirtied and marked - iPods actually are sturdier than most of their owners think. And above all, the iPod design is so attractive that any iPod looks infinitely better without all those things hanging from or attached to it. I daresay iPods actually ARE suffering from a most severe case of overprotection - at least mine is. A new case for psychoanalysis?

What a great topic for discussion!
I too am feeling a sort of angst concerning the protection of my new 60Gb iPod. On the recommendation of an Apple store employee, I purchased an iSkin rubberized case, which came with a screen protector and a clickwheel protector. Now the rubberized menace collects dust and hair like a magnet, and refuses to fit in any car holder I attempt to purchase for it. As for carrying cases, I spent quite some time searching through iPod cases, digital camera cases, "stuff sacks" etc. I found a Case Logic case that actually will fit the iPod with iSkin on it, and comes with a detachable armband... nice.
Regarding psychoanalysis, the question is, is it reasonable to want to protect something that initially costs a small fortune, you spend hours ripping/buying your music collection to, and use to rediscover your love of music? I say of course! Now, the lengths that we go to... that's more complicated. I admit that the iSkin is a bit of a drastic measure, and I kind of wish I had seen the Pod Shield before ordering the iSkin, but alas... I shall overcome.
As a side matter, why does EVERYTHING that accessory makers come out with have to be named iSomething. I know that Apple is the trend-setter here, but must everyone follow ad-nauseum??
    Now, for your amusement:
