  • IPhoto default

I have update my iPhoto with iPhoto'11 version 9.1.2 .I have purchased it on line.
All my photos are mixed, there are two libraries!!I can't open many photos on which its writen"iPhoto default"
When i click on one of them its appear a exclamation point "!" in a triangle.
    Thanks

Sorry but I don't understand your question here.
If all the photos are mixed up, check the options under the View -> Sort Photos menu.
If you have two libraries that can only be because you made them.
The ! turns up when iPhoto loses the connection between the thumbnail in the iPhoto Window and the file it represents.
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

  • Iphoto default library won't open

I've been having iPhoto problems, and after all the research.... I've found that my computer STILL DOES have my photos!!! (hallelujah) I downloaded iPhoto Library Manager & the "missing photos" are in my "DEFAULT" folder on iphoto, containing a couple thousand pictures and whatnot. Ex:
HOWEVER, (this is what is giving me the biggest issue), I can't open that default library!!! I know that it's still there, the pictures are in there.... I just cannot open the Default library! I clicked on "launch iPhoto" and it asked me to choose a library to launch. A whole bunch of rebuild libraries popped up, but not my DEFAULT library that I need to open! Ex:
Why isn't my DEFAULT library popping up in this table? And how can I open this library? I've been "missing" these photos for weeks now, and have been searching high and low for answers. I am finally so close! Found the pics, but can't retrieve them! Help! -

I know, that's the library I want... But it won't open how can I open it?

  • How to change iPhoto default

Is there a way you can change the default settings of slideshows.
I always want the music and ken burns effect turned off in my slideshows. At the moment every time I create a new slideshow I have to manually change these settings.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Unfortunately no. It's hardwired into the application. Be sure to post a user suggestion at http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto.html.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.

  • IPhoto defaults to 72dpi??

I recently bought a Digital SLR camera and I'm in the process of taking some basic classes. The class instructor boldly claimed that we should never use iPhoto as a storage method because it automatically reduces all files to 72 dpi. I did a little test and imported to iPhoto and also copied original to desktop. I then exported and dragged and dropped a photo out of iPhoto along with the original. After comparing all three in Photoshop, they all showed 300 dpi in the Photshop image size panel, the resolution and file sizes were also identical. This leads me to believe the instructor is mistaken, but I have also read that iPhoto uses a 72 dpi image for viewing. So, my question is "Is there any truth behind the instructor's statement, or is just a case of not know how to export properly?"

I'm sure your instructor is a lovely person but s/he needs to go back to school. Seriously.
A photo on your computer has pixels. It does not have dpi - dots (or pixels) per inch. It simply has pixels. Why do I say this? Because your computer has no inches to have dots per...
A Photo displayed on your computer screen labeled 300 dpi looks exactly the same as one labeled 600dpi, 72 dpi or 1 dpi.
Dpi only becomes an issue when you go to print. Then when you decide your output size - 6 x 4, 10 x 8 or whatever - the density of the pixels (or dpi) becomes an issue and is decided.
iPhoto does not alter your file in any way on import. It's exactly the same filesize, same number of pixels and so on.
Most computers default to displaying at a nominal 72 dpi. But if they do, then the pixel dimensions (length x breadth) alter. What never changes is the key factor - the total number of pixels.
Have a look here for more on this. Feel free to forward the link to your instructor.

  • Changin iPhoto Default Email Subject Line

Is there anyway to change the default email subject line, currently set as 'x Great iphotos' when using iphoto in conjunction with my email client to some thing else.

Yep it is that file. just replace
    email_subject
in the following line with whatever you want as long as its in quotations eg.
    make new outgoing message with properties {subject:"photos", visible:true}
I like the comment in the script-maybe Apple's internal bug reporting system needs to be looked at!
-- We have been having problems with inserting images before the signature.  There seems to
-- be some sort of bug with attachments.  Even iterating the images backwards and inserting
-- the images at the "beginning" doesn't work for more than 1 images.  Strange.
-- Anyway, we note the signature here, remove the signature from the message, and then
-- set the message signature back at the bottom.

  • IPhoto defaults to iPhone when opened

When I open iPhoto with my iPhone attached it always defaults to Devices, i.e. my iPhone even if there are no photos on it. I would prefer it to default to Events. Is there any way to achieve this?

Your logic is impeccable but it doesn't answer the question I asked.
    WOW
I gave you the exact answer and explained why to help you and you concured that my "logic is impeccable"
Then you state that I didn't answer you question
The answer is clear and simple
do not have your phone connected - If you do then iPhoto is going to go to it to see if there are photos to import
Now that you know what it is going to do always then you obviously know that there is no way to change that
But just to be sure you get the answer
    NO!

  • How do I change iPhoto default location?

  • Still not answered---making iphoto default photo program

When I go to add photos to facebook, blog, when I click on media it brings up "movies, pictures," blah blah blah but when I click pictures it brings up photobooth now now iphoto. How do I make iphoto the default photo program?? Thanks!

Let me try to be more specific. When I go to add photos, either using facebook, my blog, or pretty much any program, it gives you the option to "browse" your computer in order to upload photos. When I click on browse, it used to bring up iphoto as an option, I would click it, then pick which photo/photos I wanted to upload. Now, it brings up photo booth instead, which of course does not have any pictures in it. I need to get iphoto back to being the default program so that when I go to upload pictures, I can upload them directly from iphoto. Does this make more sense?

  • Setting the iPhoto Default Library Folder

I'm sure there is a simple answer to this question, but I can't find it. Can the physical location of the default library folder be changed to an external hard drive?

    Hi Howard,
    sure can!
Copy the ENTIRE iPhoto Library folder to a Mac formatted external drive.
Launch iPhoto while holding down the Option key.
At the prompt, choose to open another library.
Navigate to the library on the external and highlight it.
    Hit the "open" button
iPhoto will open the library on the external and from now on will use this library to import images too. This will now be your working library. Make sure everything is working correctly and everything is fine in the library.
You can then delete the library on the internal if you wish.

  • Making iPhoto default for syncing

My iPhone 5s has always default synced to iPhoto perfectly.  Today, a new window from dropbox popped up and I thought I had clicked the right button. But...Now my camera photos won't sync to iPhoto, so I'm wondering how to reassign iPhoto as the default sync application for my camera photos.  In other words, my iPhone can DOWNLOAD photos from iPhoto right now, but doesn't seem to be UPLOADING them automatically.  How do I get the phone to do that?

Launch the Image Capture app in your Applications folder.
Connect the iPhone to your Mac.
Bottom left corner of the Image Capture window select: iPhoto
If it's not available in the list, click Other than navigate to your Applications folder and select iPhoto.

  • Make Iphoto Default Viewer

    Hi Everyone,
I'm brand new to the Apple world (2 days), having been a PC user forever.
I've got a Macbook Pro with Leopard 10.5.1.
Somehow I made "Preview" my default photo viewer. How do I change that so iPhoto is the default application instead.
    Thanks in advance,
    Keysmark

    Keysmark:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. That's they way it should be. iPhoto is an image management tool/database and, as such, has to import the photos into it before it can display them. So any photo file outside iPhoto must be viewed by another application like Preview. OR, just select the photo file and hit the Space bar to QuickLook at it (works with any file).
If you have a 3rd party editor like Photoshop Elements you can set it as the default application with which to open that file and any other like it. Select one of the files and type Command-i. In the Info window that comes up select the application you'd like to use in the Open With menu and click on the Apply to All button. This will set every file of that file type to open with the selected application. iPhoto, however, is not one of them for the reasons I stated above.
    Do you Twango?

I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Making iPhoto Default for Safari

How do I make iPhoto my default for the images I download in Safari? I don't want to keep changing the folder I download into everytime I download something. Can't I just have an option to download images to iPhoto everytime? Also how can I make iPhoto my default for all images?
I'm a new Mac user, can you tell? LOL
    Thanks,
    Barb

When you download files in a browser, you never specify what application is supposed to open it. In Mac OS X, each type of file (.GIF, .PNG, .JPG, etc.) has a specific default application, which is automatically assigned to the file, although you can change those defaults if you want.
The problem with iPhoto is that it cannot work with files not already in its library; and only certain types of files can be imported by it. So the answer to your question is that there is no completely automatic way to move files into iPhoto. I don't think even AppleScript can really help you much here.
Sorry for the bad news. You can still import image files by just dragging them into iPhoto folders when it is open, however. That should be easy enough.

  • How do you change default e-mail address in iPhoto 9.6?

I've changed my e-mail address but iPhoto defaults to the old one when I try to e-mail photos directly from iPhoto

    iPhoto Menu -> Preferences -> Accounts ->
Delete and recreate your email settings.
Alternatively, use Apple's Mail for the job. It has Templates too - and more of them.
