Disable a specific app's updates in iTunes

Hi everyone,
I am stuck with iOS 3.1.3 on my iPhone 2G. Some apps (like barcoo) now only support iOS 4.x and therefore cannot be synced to my iPhone. Is there a way to disable the +update available counter+ in iTunes for a single app? iTunes now always shows
and I obviously can’t get rid of that, because I can’t update this app with my old iPhone.
Any ideas?

Well, time went by and I now have a current iPhone. But it still would’ve been nice. I’ll submit feedback about this...

Can iPhone apps be updated via iTunes v download from home network?

I thought that by connecting my iphone through itunes on my laptop I could get all updates for my apps through itunes via synching and it would go very fast. I have 27 apps currently updating and it has taken nearly 35 mins and the app updates are still downloading. It's fine I guess when I'm home but I just updated apps a few weeks ago outside of my home network and AT&T had a field day with the amount of data I downloaded, especially since I couldn't cancel the updates.
Also, is there any blessed way to cancel the updates (yes I know they are meant to be there for a reason, but if I don't want them downloading via a cellular network, can I cancel or pause until I am into my home network?

First of all, your profile above indicates you are running OS X 10.6.8. Is this true? If so, realize this is the oldest version of OS X that supports the current iTunes (11.2.2). So once the next version of iOS is released, it seems likely that you would either be required to upgrade your OS X or no longer be able to sync your iPhone.
Given you are running an iTunes version that supports your iPhone, open iTunes on your computer, click the "Apps" tab, then click "Check for Updates" in the lower right. After you have done that, syncing your iPhone using iTunes will cause the latest versions of the iOS apps to be downloaded to your iPhone from your iTunes.

I would manually check the version I have in iTunes versus the store and when I download and do a sync, it updates it. So now my question is, uhh..what is happening?
I obviously can't rely on the auto update within iTunes and the App Store on the iPhone doesn't detect it as well..

Apps wont update from itunes or iphone

i click on update apps and i get a message saying "We could not complete your itunes store request. The network connection was reset. Make sure that your network connection is active and try again." I can connect to the itunes store normally, the itunes network diagnostics said everything was fine, and i can connect to the internet. I have avg 8 free version and windows firewall. also when on my phone and i try to update apps i get a message saying "Cannot connect to the itunes store"...

Can apps be updated in iTunes?

Here's my problem. Seems I have a "dead spot" on my screen (don't even get me started about that). Whenever I open my app store icon I'm unable to update any of my apps because I can never hit "OK" after I enter my user name and password thanks to the **** dead spot. That being the case, is there any way I can update the apps via iTunes? I've looked around iTunes but I don't think I can do such a thing. Any help would be much appreciated.

First, sync your iPhone. Then go to Applications in your iTunes Library and look down at the bottom right - you'll see Update Apps or something similar. Click here and update them in iTunes. Sync again and your apps will be updated on your iPhone. You can also purchase apps via iTunes.

How do you do apps update on itunes?

My phone crashes and twice took 4 to 24 hours to get it to unlock. This is from trying to do updates through the phone itself. (orig. iphone).

Some people say updating applications on the iPhone causes problems. This has not been verified through Apple though.
To update apps through iTunes, click the Applications icon in iTunes. This will bring up the list of applications that you have installed. At the bottom if the screen there will be a icon for check for updates. This will check for any updates for the apps you will have. If there are no updates a message will be displayed letting you know this.
If there are application updates, you will be taken to the iTunes store update page where you can select specific apps to update or update all of them.

ITunes "Check for updates" don't work for two specific app

I have iPhone 4S, and iTunes at Windows 7 PC. Clean install.
I've bought an GPS navigation app, Turkey Navigation iGO Primo app, which was free at first release day. My problem is, when I click the button "Check for updates" at iTunes(PC), it don't show me any updates, but when I go to app's(iGO Primo) iTunes page, I see that new version released, and iTunes price button says "Update". So I can manually update the app, but iTunes can't automatically finds it. This symptom only occurs for two apps iGO Primo app and Google Search app.
A friend of mine also bought the Primo app at same time as me, and she has no problem, iTunes can find updates automatically.
I can delete the app from iTunes and download again, but no luck, no fix.
Developer(NNG) and Apple technical support can't help me a bit.
Maybe there is other apps at my library that has this problem, I don't check every app's page manually if an update released.
Do you have any solutions?

I am unable to update my Itunes app... I get a message that says "Service "apple Mobile Device failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privleges to start system services" What do I need to do to get it up and running? I've tried reinstalling but that isn't working.

When you say you changed your password, did you change it on Manage My AppleID? If so, once you did that, did you sign out of the iTunes & App Store on your iPod Touch? If you did not, then you need to do that, then sign back in with your new password.

Why does it say my Apple ID is disabled when I try to update an app.? My ID works for everything else. Also, I thought with the new iOS update that apps are supposed to update themselves but mine haven't.

On your Mac/PC open iTunes (make sure it is updated). On the tabs on the left click on "iTunes Store". This will change the window on the right to the iTunes store. The top right corner should have your Apple ID or Sign In written. If there is an Apple ID written click on it and Sign Out. The corner should then change to "Sign In".
Now click on Sign In and sign in with the wrong/incorrect Apple ID that you no longer wish to use or update from.
Once logged in, click on the down arrow that shows when you move the pointer on the top right corner where it should now show the apple id, and select Account.
The page that opens up should have a section called "iTunes in the Cloud" with a tab on the side saying "Manage Devices".
Click on Manage Devices. Its should list your iPhone or iPad that you no longer wish to use with this Apple ID. And click Remove.
Once its confirmed click "Done" and from the top right corner select Sign Out.

I pod disabled and cant remember passcode. cannot use itunes as it wants update and restore need to use passcode and the hold sleep/wake key and home key doesnt put it in DFU either . any help ?

My ipod has been disabled as I cant remember the passcode . When doing a restore on I Tunes it will only update and restore , the update doesnt work as the phone is locked and I need a passcode. I have tried the other way which is to hold the sleep/wake key and home key together for 10 seconds but as soon as you plug it inot the pc the ipod boots up so this method doesnt work either . Very close to usin it as a brick , any suggestions ?? Thank you

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Forgot passcode or device disabled
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode.

Problems with apps and photos since updated new iTunes

Hi all.
I updated itunes and instaleed it on both my computer and my iphone. Since then, I cannot purchase apps, update them or sync them with my mac. My id and password are ok, but the apps are stuck in mid process and I cannot use them. If that wasn't enough, the iphone shows that all my photos are gone although itune shows 11.5 gb of "other" and I can't sync photos from iphoto to iphone. ideas anyone?

Do not install MacKeeper.

Determine if the same problems also occur in "Safe Mode":
Safe Mode or "Safe Boot" is a troubleshooting mode that bypasses all third party system extensions and loads only required system components. Read about it: Starting up in Safe Mode
You must disable FileVault before you can start your Mac in Safe Mode.
Starting your Mac in Safe Mode will take longer than usual, graphics will not render smoothly, audio is disabled on some Macs, and some programs (iTunes for example) may not work at all.
Merely starting your Mac in Safe Mode is not intended to resolve the problem, it's to observe its performance without certain additional components.
To end Safe Mode restart your Mac normally. Shutdown will take longer as well.

Specific apps won't open despite software + hardware updates

Hi there!
So I have a problem that's been bugging me for a while. I previously owned an iPhone 4. Specific apps, such as Zombiewood would never open. They'd launch to a black screen (or the game's loading splash) and hang for a few seconds, then close out. Reinstalls (of both the app and the iOS) and resets didn't solve the problem. There were one or two more apps like this whose names are escaping me, but overall it wasn't much of a problem.
Fast forward a year or two and I upgrade to the iPhone 5. I download Zombiewood to see what I was missing, and...same thing. Goes to the game's loading screen, hangs, and quits. I've found other apps that do that, too - Trials Frontier and Asphalt 8: Airborne both boot to a black screen, hang a few seconds, and then immediately quit. This has persisted through iOS 6 and into 7, and from the iPhone 4 into the iPhone 5. There doesn't seem to be anyone else with these games with this issue, and I've actually gotten in contact with a representative from Gameloft (responsible for Asphalt 8) and he said it was a unique issue and that I've already been through the troubleshooting steps. He'd talk to a few coworkers, and I ended up never hearing back.
There are a few other compatibility issues. Cartoon Wars: Blade will boot to a black screen and close unless I enable airplane mode, in which case it behaves normally. Dino Hunter behaves normally unless I try to access the store or tap on certain missions. Those could be app-specific problems, but I figured I'd include them anyway.
Any ideas? Latest iOS version, Windows version, and iTunes version. My iPhone 5 was purchased new at an official T-Mobile store (and the previous iPhone 4 was purchased new at an AT&T store).

When we try to buy a new app or update our existing apps, my account settings wont allow me to enter ANY of my credit cards. It says to contact apple/itunes/support, but when I do, I don't understand how to navigate it to find an answer. Help!
