  • Acrobat Reader XI addon gets disabled periodically in Internet Explorer within Windows domain

    We have a followig problem that happens on new workstations with Windows 7 x64 and Acrobat Reader XI only.
    Every few days (cca 3-30) the following key is automatically added to registry:
    HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Ext\Settings\{CA8A9780-280D-11CF-A24D-444553540000}
    This key has the effect that Acrobat Reader XI gets disabled in Internet Explorer add-ons. So when user opens PDF in IE (or SAP or other Windows software using IE), it is not opened within IE but in a new separate window.
    Can you please suggest what can be the reason for this, like group policy etc.?

    From here:
    http://serverfault.com/a/666205/229754
    I quote:
    Assuming you have installed
    Microsoft Window 7+ / Server 2008 R2+
    Microsoft Internet Explorer 11+ (IE)
    Adobe PDF Reader 11+ (Reader)
    Microsoft System Center Endpoint Protection / Microsoft Malware Protection (MalwareProtection)
      the following seems to happen here:
    MalwareProtection registers a component named Microsoft Antimalware IOfficeAntiVirus implementation (MpOAv) for Extension Validation with IE.
    IExtensionValidation interface
    For Internet Explorer 11, specifies an interface the anti-malware vendors can implement. Vendors that register support for this interface may be called by IE11 to validate that an ActiveX control is safe to instantiate.
    MpOAv registers as a CLSID of {2781761E-28E1-4109-99FE-B9D127C57AFE}.
    [HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Extension Validation\{2781761E-28E1-4109-99FE-B9D127C57AFE}] [HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Extension Validation\{2781761E-28E1-4109-99FE-B9D127C57AFE}]
    You can inspect the detailed properties of MpOAv in the registry. The associated DLL usually resides at C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Security Client\MpOAv.dll
    [HKCR\CLSID\{2781761E-28E1-4109-99FE-B9D127C57AFE}] [HKCR\Wow6432Node\CLSID\{2781761E-28E1-4109-99FE-B9D127C57AFE}]
    Now everytime IE wants to run an ActiveX control, the registered MpOAv is being called before that and sometimes misbehaves or simply thinks that the Reader ActiveX control is not safe. I have no idea what its behavior really depends on.
    This all results in IE (iexplore.exe) writing 2 keys to the registry: The CLSIDs of MpOAv {2781761E-28E1-4109-99FE-B9D127C57AFE} and Reader {CA8A9780-280D-11CF-A24D-444553540000}.
    [HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Ext\Settings\{2781761E-28E1-4109-99FE-B9D127C57AFE}] [HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Ext\Settings\{CA8A9780-280D-11CF-A24D-444553540000}]
    From this point on IE will not run the Reader ActiveX control until someone manually removes its CLSID from there. This is the observed problem.
    Will Adobe offer some solution to this issue???
    I confirm the existence of metioned registry keys, looks promising! –  Vojtěch Dohnal 11 mins ago
    But I fear that removing MpOAv from validation extensions completely will result in less secure browsing for users. –  Vojtěch Dohnal just now   edit

  • Using openDoc in internet explorer

    Hi all,
    I have a pdf file with links to other documents using JavaScript, openDoc. This works perfect in Acrobat reader and Acrobat pro. Now some user wants to open the pdf in Internet Explorer with the pdf plugin. This works to some extent, other JavaScripts that jumps to other pages in the same document works but the OpenDoc does not. The pdf is located on a file server, and I am using relative paths but I have tried with absolute paths aswell without any success. So my question is, is this feature locked in web browsers per default or am i missing something fundamental?
    Regards,
    Ingman

    File upload feature is disabled on Internet Explorer for security reasons but you can try using the official Facebook app, or you can add your facebook account through Settings->email+accounts and use the built-in WP8 sharing options. Once you add your facebook account, you can tap and hold on the photo and select Share... option to share the photo on Facebook.
    The silence will fall

  • Turning off Internet Explorer 7 Standards Mode via registry? Help!

    Hi all
    In his infinite wisdom, my predecessor rolled out a few PCs with Windows 7 Home premium. There are a few scattered around at various sites of ours that connect back to Central office via VPN. Due to the functions they preform these PCs cant be domained and
    just use local accounts.
    We have a new web based finance system, that does not run correctly in Internet Explorer 7 Standards Mode - for the rest of the company I have turned it off via a GPO, but for these PCs (that dont even have local GP) I'm struggling to find the correct registry
    entry to disable Internet Explorer 7 Standards Mode! Help!
    The PCs are Windows & Home 32bit - I have searched and search and found nothing. Cheers guys

    Hi StevoHX,
    Thanks for posting in TechNet Forum.
    I will do more test on this requirement and will let you know the result as soon as possible.
    I wonder if we don't disable the Internet Explorer 7 Standards Mode, could you open the web based finance system?

  • Application Unable to start Java inside Internet Explorer

    Hi Good afternoon
    Since last round of MS Win 8.1 PRO x64 Updates as of 16/11/2014, JAVA version 1.8 build 25 cant start inside Internet Explorer v11.0.14 Update KB: 3003057.
    Even After Updating to EMET v5.1.5426
    For example Cisco NetAcademy Environment Checker:
    EMET detected ASR mitigation in IEXPLORE.EXE
    ASR check failed:
      Application : C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE
      User Name : XXX\abc
      Session ID : 1
      PID : 0xEBC (3772)
      TID : 0x1AB4 (6836)
      Module : jp2iexp.dll
      Web address : http://skills.netacad.net/check/check.html
      Url zone : Internet
    If ASR is disabled in Internet Explorer everything runs flawlessly.
    Please review EMET policies

    stefancpt wrote:
    I am not able to run Java 1.7u71 in IE 11 on any 32 bit Windows 7 PC. I also have EMET 5.1 installed. I have added the website to the Trusted Sites list but it does not work unless I disable ASR. It only seems to work on 64 bit Windows 7 PCs. Is anyone else
    experiencing this?
    This is what was logged in the event log:
    EMET detected ASR mitigation in iexplore.exe
    ASR check failed:
      Application     : C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe
      User Name     : xxx
      Session ID     : 2
      PID         : 0xFE0 (4064)
      TID         : 0x1014 (4116)
      Module     : jp2iexp.dll
    When I browse to http://javatester.org/version.html (a site which uses Java but doesn't belong to my trusted sites) I get this message:
    I don't get a EMET mitigation warning from the EMET 5.1 icon in the system tray (anymore) which I used to get with EMET 5.0. I also don't get a event in the application event log! When I add the site to the trusted sites Java starts and asks for permission
    to start the applet because it isn't signed.
    The message that the page requires Java is confusing because a user might think that Java isn't installed and may try to install Java again (and maybe not from the official install page but from a page with malware)....
    Can you check some settings? Open the GUI of EMET 5.1, goto Apps, select IExplore.exe and click on 'Show All Setting'. You should see something like the image below.
    Is the 'Trusted sites' zone selected?

  • Mapquest sign in box does not appear in Firefox but does in Internet Explorer. Why? Have disabled add ons but no luck.

    The sign in box does not show up on Mapquest when I use Firefox. If I use Internet Explorer, the sign in box appears. I disabled the Firefox add-ons thinking there might be a conflict but no luck. Mapquest support is at a dead end, too, especially with it working in IE but not in Firefox. Suggestions?

    Can you post a link to that login page or is this a pop-up window?

    Hi.
    How to disable ''set as background'' from right click in internet explorer 8,9,10,11 by GPO in Win Serv 2008 R2.
    People in my domain can set their background by right click in the pics on their IE, I enabled by GPO a wallpaper by default in ''Administrative Templates > Desktop > Desktop > Desktop Wallpaper''  and I enable too the  ''Administrative Templates
    > Control Panel > Personalization > Prevent changing desktop background'' at login people have the corporative Desktop but they can change by IE. What can I do? thanks.

    Hi,
    I test this issue, actually, in IE 11, the option "set as backgroud" is grayed out after I applied policy  Administrative Templates > Control Panel > Personalization > Prevent changing desktop background, but seems not suitable for
    other versions of IE.

  • How to solve Adobe Reader 8 and Internet Explorer (IE) setting set to Download Disable

    Anyone can help me with this issue. Due to our company policy, Download is disable in the Internet Explorer (IE). With Adobe Reader 4/5/6, we are able to open and view the pdf on the IE. But with Adobe Reader 7/8, it require IE download enable before open the pdf file.

    Yes, I agree that PDF always downloaded to IE Temp folder. But with IE download disabled and using either Acrobat Reader 6, we can open online PDF files. With with the same setting as above, but now using Adobe Reader 7 or 8, we would get the message "The current security setting does not allow for the files to be downloaded".
    Anybody know of any workaround solution or something changed with Adobe Reader 7 or higher?
    Thanks.

  • When I use Firefox for Yahoo mail the tabs such as sign out, search email, help seem to be disabled. How do I make them work? Works in Internet Explorer

    There are a number of tabs at top of my inbox such as sign out, search email, help, etc. They do not work. For example cannot insert a name for search email- will not give me the curser to do this. When I use internet explorer these tabs do work so not a problem with Yahoo mail- must be problem with Firefox. Recently updated Firefox.

    SafeBrowser posted Recently, the Yahoo Toolbar and the Babylon extension have been reported to cause that problem. They seem to overlap invisibly over the top of the web page display. If you have either or both, uninstall or disable them/it, or see if an update is available that solves the problem.
    See --> http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Uninstalling+add-ons
    I disabled the Babylon extension and Yahoo Mail works now.

  • Flash Player is enabled, ActiveX Filtering disabled, yet Flash videos will not play in Internet Explorer 11

    I have enabled Flash Player in add-ons for Internet Explorer 11 for Windows 8.1. I also disabled ActiveX Filtering as instructed while trouble shooting... Yet, videos still will not play on webpages shown in Internet Explorer. How can I fix this, since I have already followed instructions from Adobe completely? Flash Player is supposedly already be installed in Internet Explorer 11, but it is NOT working.

    Long story short, the video site is probably going to need to change their content before it works in IE11+.  I'd need some links to affected pages to tell you for sure (and even then, the complexity of websites these days makes debugging pretty painful).
    In the meantime, you might just want to use Chrome for the sites that otherwise don't work.

    > Jeckyl...Simple solution or not, your "so what-big deal"
    response to this
    > is
    > cavalier.
    I never made a 'what-big deal' response. Read my reply again.
    I explained that it requires work from you as a web developer
    to ensure your
    site works seamlessly with Internet Explorer (as it now is).
    My response
    was, rather, a 'whether you like it or not' response .. and
    that's simply
    how it is.
    > I stand by my comment about a border around my Flash
    objects.
    You mean your flippant remark about adding them yourself if
    you wanted it?
    That simply shows your complete ignorance of the issue. The
    change was not
    so you would have an automatic border around activex objects
    .. that's not
    the point of it, its just a side-effect of the change
    required to prevent IE
    infringing the stupid EOLAS patent.
    > You dismiss it as if it's nothing.
    No .. YOU were dismissing it as nothing (or almsot monthing)
    .. as just a
    border around your control. Its a much bigger issue than such
    a
    trivialising remark suggests.
    > It is not a silly comment...it's reality.
    Indeed .. and you under-stated the nature of the reality of
    the effects of
    the change. Obviosuly you don't see it as big a deal as it
    really is.
    > I'm sure I'm not alone when I say I am busy and I don't
    want to waste time
    > FIXING
    > a problem created by someone else. Obviously I have no
    choice.
    Exactly .. NOONE wants to have been placed in this situation.
    NOONE is
    happy about it (least of all Microsoft).
    So now you have to do some work to remove the border you
    don't want. Tough
    .. complaining about how you don't like it isn't at all
    helpful.
    > Apparently some people have lots of play-time on their
    hands.
    No .. we are all in the same boat .. we just don't make
    flippant remarks
    about it.
    And .. despite your attitude, I will give you the link to a
    page that lists
    the simple solutions as well as links to the more complex
    'official'
    solutions.

  • Disable Function Key F3 in Internet Explorer

    I would like to disable function keys F1 and F3 while playing
    my flash movie in internet explorer. I am using these keys within
    Flash to do some actions.
    I got the script working for Function Key F1 using the
    following script
    <script language="javascript">
    document.onhelp = function() {return(false);}
    window.onhelp = function() {return(false);}
    </script>
    But unable to make it to work for function key F3.
    Thanks in advance,
    Desmond

    Hi des_shun, I have workaround for this issue.
    First thing we have to do is disable keyboard event for F3 key on HTML document so that even if focus is on html document, default Search functionality will not popup. Next thing is, flash must contain KeyboardEvent listener for keyboard response. This is where we will keep our custom F3 functionality. This setting works well on Chrome & FireFox.
    Now IE thing.
    The prolem with IE is that if any one of F3, F5, F6,F7 & F11 key is pressed, when the focus is on flash movie it directly executes the default browser functions like searching, refreshing etc never allowing flash to execute its keyeventlistener. But if focus is on document body, then F3 and other keys work fine.
    Here is the catch.
    All we have to do is whenever focus is shifted to flash, we should revert that focus to document body.
    Here is how we can do this.
    Capture the MouseClick event in your flash movie. Then in this mouseclick event handler, call  javascript function to change focus to document again. Below is the sample code.
    //Flash Code
    stage.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,mClick);
    function mClick(event:MouseEvent)
              ExternalInterface.call("changeFocus");
    // Javascript Code
    <script type="text/javascript"</script>
              function changeFocus()
                             document.body.focus();
        </script>
    Thats it!

  • Disable Quicktime plugin for Internet Explorer

    There has been discussion on a number of forums regarding the Quicktime plugin for Windows Internet Explorer and how it will hijack file associations, preventing them from being opened up with your default application. This only occurs when clicking on a link on a website. This even occurs when the file assocations in Windows are set to open a particular media file with your desired player. Disabling the Quicking plugin in the Internet Explorer settings may only makes things worse because instead of the file playing with the Quicktime plugin, Internet Explorer displays a red "X", and doesn't play the media. Uninstalling Quicktime is a solution, but if you, like me, own a Apple device and use iTunes, Quicktime must be installed. There are a number of postings on the web with potential solutions, but none of them worked for me.
    After troubleshooting for some time, I have finally figured out how to disable the plugin once and for all. I have narrowed it down to the registry entry that apparently loads the plugin into Internet Explorer. By simply deleting this entry, the Quicktime plugin will no longer load with IE and media will be launched with your favorite player. You can easily revert back to the Quicktime plugin by restoring the registry entry from a backup. Below, I have provided the reg.exe command line commands to backup and delete the registry entry.
    1) Close out of Internet Explorer.
    2)Backup with this command:
    reg export "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes\Wow6432Node\CLSID\{4063BE15-3B08-470D-A0D5-B37161CFFD69} " C:\qt_plugin1.reg
    NOTE: This registry path is for Windows x64 (64-bit). I am not certain of the path for Windows x86 (32-bit), but I assume you may just need to remove Wow6432Node from the path. If it is not there, open regedit.exe and search for 4063BE15-3B08-470D-A0D5-B37161CFFD69.
    3) Delete with this command:
    reg delete "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes\Wow6432Node\CLSID\{4063BE15-3B08-470D-A0D5-B37161CFFD69} " /f
    4) Open Internet Explorer and test. When you click on a music or video link, your default media player should now launch.
    I have tested this myself several times, including a reinstallation of Quicktime, and it worked. If it doesn't work for some reason, you can try performing the same steps with the following registry entries. Do one at a time and test so that you don't delete anything unnecessary.
    HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes\Wow6432Node\CLSID\{CB927D12-4FF7-4A9E-A169-56E4B8A75598}
    HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes\Wow6432Node\CLSID\{02BF25D5-8C17-4B23-BC80-D3488ABDDC6B}
    HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\UserData\S-1-5-18\Compo nents\3F9E7EA97A1AEE54490637032025DEF9
    If you wish to restore the Quicktime plugin, simply double-click the registry file that you backed up in step 2. Click yes when it asks you to confirm. Now when you open Internet Explorer and click on a link, the Quicktime plugin will load and play the media.

    I mentioned I have the Acrobat Pro 9 version.
    Also, Im using IE 8.
