Disable all sound from application

Hi,
I need to disable all sound or volume from my application upon a button press. I have a html component within my app that i need to be muted, for example if the user loads the youtube website and selects a video, the video should play but without any sound?
Can this be done?

I am having a similar problem....didn't recognize it until today.... I wasn't getting any sound out of the right side of my headphones....Unplugged them....wasn't getting anything out of the right front speaker....Hmmmswap them around...speaker is good... Take apart the base unit for the Inspire 5400....nope, that's looks ok....plug it all back in....check wiring...plug everything in correctly....test speakers with Creatives software....all sound is now coming out of the front speakers....nothing out of the rear.... I can't figure it out....it is getting late...any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

That is two different questions. If you want "lossless," which is defined as being sonically equivalent to the source CD, iTunes has 3 choices, as thicks noted.
However, that does not provide frequency content as high as 30 kHz, since normal CD encoding is based on 44/16 PCM, and rolls off well before that. If you want all those frequencies, you have to use studio quality masters based on 192/24 encoding, which is far beyond iTunes's capabilities to handle.

i have lost all sound from my ipod classic, is there a quick fix, or is it totally had it????

Reset the iPod - Press Menu and Center button for about 10 secs till the Apple logo comes On then release the buttons.

Disable all sounds. what is noscript.

some darn windows program is making noise. I want to disable all sounds except streaming audio. AFAIK windows and ie sounds are OFF. I suspect chrome and fox. some articles say "noscript" has sound announcements. What is noscript, how can I turn off its sound; i don't do audio (on purpose) in fox, I'd be happy if fox were completely mute. Any ideas? Thank you!

Disable ALL Sounds when Silent

Holy cow I am in a theater and thankfully the movie hasnt started yet but as i was opening an app the sound went blasting! Wow thats really nice.

Id like to find a way to stream all the sound from the ipad to my macmini, which is connected to my sound system

you can do it wired by connecting a minijack cable from the headset connector of the ipad to the mic/line in on the mac mini
or you can look for some software which makes the mac act as a bluetooth speaker setup (A2DP) and connect the ipad to it

Sound icon disabled no sound from internal speakers

When I start my MacBook Pro I can hear the familiar "apple start" sound from the sepeakers. But about an hour ago the sound icon on the top bar is disabled (grey), no sound is coming from the computer speakers. In Settings > Sound, the volume bar is at max level, but also disabled. External speakers and headphones work fine.
What is this?

With nothing connected into the earphone jack, do you see a red glo inside the earphone jack?
If yes, then try insertting and removing an earphone plug, several times, to see if you can get the red glo to stop.
Else you might need to make an appointment with an Apple Approved Service Provider.

How do I remove all sound from my original clips?

I've recently bought iMovie and am trying to get some editing done. I'd like to remove all the sound from my original clips and only have the music track I've added as background music, I've watched the tutorials and tried adjustments but alas, nothing seems to work, where am I going wrong?

First you must drag the clips to a project. The event clips will always have the original audio.
In the project, select one of the clips and open the inspector to the Audio tab. Set the volume slider to zero.
You can repeat this for all the clips, or here is a shortcut.
Do the first one, then with it still selected, click EDIT/COPY, then EDIT/SELECT ALL, then EDIT/PASTE ADJUSTMENTS.../AUDIO ADJUSTMENTS.

Editing Sound File and erases all sound from slides

I created a 19 slide project. As Captivate does a
poor job of determining when sound starts vs when a slide appears,
I wanted to move the audio from slide 1 to slide 2. I did that and
all the audio on the remaining slides was gone! Is this a bug or
did I do something wrong?

Actually, the sound from all slides wound up imbedded within
the first slide. Now, how do I get everything back in

I keep loosing absolutely ALL sound from my mac using Garageband

I am just trying to create 1 track, something very simple nothing fancy...
I am only using Garageband NOTHING else is running, but from the start the track is orange, anyways I try to trim the length a little and in a few minutes I get that message that says something like too many vocals or instruments.
I loose all my sound, I try internet, itunes and the Garageband and get no sound what so ever!
The only way to get sound back on my mac is if i restart it or shut it down completely which is very annoying.
By the way once I loose sound in Garageband if I hit the space bar for the track to play I get a weird clicking sound, like if I were double clicking on my pad even though I am not touching the pad at all.
PLEASE HELP!!!

Skype stops all sounds from working.

Lately I have been having a problem, where everytime I am in a skype call my sound stops working after a randomamount of time.
It is getting really annoying and every possible fix I could find is not working.
Does anybody know what I can do to fix this problem?

I am not getting any sounds from Applications or Web Browsers, but i am getting alert sounds.

I've tried everything: Restarting my computer, audio MIDI settings, reseting PRAM, opening garageband :l Nothing seems to work! This is really anoyying. Hmmm, only thing I can think is some extension not loading or borked, open System Profiler, or whatever the name has changed to now, check Software>Extensions & see if all the myriad Audio ones appear to be loaded & valid...

Can I direct all sound from MacBook Pro to Airport, not just iTunes

Hi, want to be able to choose AirPort for all audio out from my MacBook Pro, not just iTunes. Is that possible? For example I would like to stream YouTube music via AirPort...

Thx for answer. However, I can not choose AirPort the way you described, only "internal speakers or Thunderbolt/external monitor speakers". Seems like it's only in iTunes one can choose AirPort output. I would like to play all aduio out via AirPort.

How to log out all users from Application to switch partitions?

We currently use a maxl script to switch over active partitions and as you may know, users need to be logged out when this happens. The current script we use is:
alter system logout session on application ABANSWER force;
alter system kill request on application $4;
alter system kill request on application FCSTA3;
alter system kill request on application FCSTA4;
alter system kill request on application HISTA;
alter system kill request on application ABANSWER;
drop transparent partition ABANSWER.REPORT from $4.$2;
Quite often we seem to get the issue that some user can't be logged out because they are running something intensive and this causes the partition switch to fail.
Does anyone know a better way to do log out the users or kill the sessions so we can reliably switch the partitions? Any help would be appreciated.

that means that the app was purchased under that seperate apple id. u will need to delete the app and redownload it using the yahoo one if u want to be able to update it.
