Disable 'Apps' in Outlook Web App 2013

Hello,
We have just finished a migration to Exchange 2013 and have noticed that within OWA users can install 'Apps' from the Office Store (click the Gear in the upper right hand corner and go to Manage Apps).
We would like to be able to disable the ability of a user to install these apps.  Can anyone point me to where in the ECP or a powershell command?
Thank you,
Matt

Hello,
In exchange server, we can't do this.
But we can use Group Policy to manage how users can install and use apps for Office.
Here is the article for your reference.

  • Force Day View of Calendar Published from Outlook Web Access

Is there a way to force the view of the Outlook calendar published through Outlook Web Access 2013 so that it displays the day or week view without the user having to click on an icon to change the view?  I want to display a day view calendar (or week
view) by default.  I can successfully publish the calendar but a user has to click the icons to change the view.  I want to display the calendar in an iframe on a digital sign and the user won't have a way to click or touch the icon.  Are there
parameters that can be passed in the url?

    Hello Brian,
I'd suggest asking OWA specific questions on the
Exchange Server for Developers forum instead. Also you may find the
Exchange Server 2010 Outlook Web App Customization SDK helpful.
As for Microsoft Office Outlook you can use the
CurrentView property of the Explorer or Folder classes which returns a View object
representing the current view. To obtain a View object for the view of the current Explorer,
    use Explorer.CurrentView instead
of the CurrentView property of the currentFolder object
    returned by Explorer.CurrentFolder.
The View object allows you to create customizable views that allow you to better sort, group and ultimately view data of all different types. There are a variety of different view types that provide
the flexibility needed to create and maintain your important data.
The table view type (olTableView) allows you to view data in a simple field-based table.
The Calendar view type (olCalendarView) allows you to view data in a calendar format.
The card view type (olCardView) allows you to view data in a series of cards. Each card displays the information contained by the item and can be sorted.
The icon view type (olIconView) allows you to view data as icons, similar to a Windows folder or explorer.
The timeline view type (olTimelineView) allows you to view data as it is received in a customizable linear time line.
Views are defined and customized using the View object's XML property.
The XML property allows you to create and set a customized XML schema that defines the various features of a view.

  • How to disable contacts search(Auto Complete) while composing Email from Outlook Web App(OWA) in Local Exchnage server?

In on premise Exchange server (Local Exchange) i want send the email using custom address like [FAX:name@/FN=333] from
Outlook Web App(OWA), while clicking on send button i got the error like "The message can't be sent because at least one recipient isn't valid." so i am unable to submit the email from OWA.
but i am able to send the email using custom address like [FAX:name@/FN=333] from Outlook Web App(OWA) of Office 365 exchange server.
what is difference b/w Local Exchange server OWA & Office 365 OWA?
is there any configuration changes needed for Local exchange server?
so How to disable the searching contacts functionality(auto complete) & error message in OWA of Local exchange server?

    Hi,
What’s your Exchange environment? Exchange 2010 co-existing with Exchange 2013? Can you share your related transport rule here for more analysis? What’s your custom email address format?
I created a custom address like Fax:Winnie@/FN=333 in my tab environment, it returned an error about “The address ‘Fax:Winnie@/FN=333’ is not a valid SMTP address”. Please update your Global Address List in Exchange server and if there is any error log,
please provide more information for further analysis.

  • Some Outlook tasks only showing up in Outlook Web App, even if they were entered in Outlook 2013 or on the iOS email client.

A user creates tasks in Outlook 2013, his Exchange email account on his iPhone and in the Outlook Web App (Not Outlook.com). A small number of these tasks will only show up in the Outlook Web App, though, no matter which platform he entered the
task from. He can enter a task in Outlook 2013 and it might not show up on the task list in Outlook 2013 or IOS after that, but WILL show up in the outlook Web App task list.
At first I thought sorting was the issue, but we compared all tasks in both Outlook 2013 and OWA, sorted by due date, and, sure enough, some were missing from 2013.
What I am not sure of:
If/how long a task will be visible on the platform it was submitted before it begins only appearing in OWA.
    How long ago this started
I couldn't find this issue in the community or with a quick google search.
I am going to see when he is available to sit down and go through tasks to see if there is a pattern and try replicate it so I can see how long it might be available on the submitting platform before disappearing.
I can provide any other info needed. Thoughts on this issue?

    Hi,
I would suggest you reset the view if you found some tasks in Outlook missing.
    VIEW tab -> Reset View.
Or we can simply start Outlook with the switch "/cleanviews"(Restores default views. All custom views that you created are lost):
Press Win + R and type “outlook.exe /cleanviews” in the blank box, then press Enter.
Check if this helps you find the missing tasks.
    Thanks,

  • Using Outlook Web App Web Parts in Exchange Server 2013 - OWA ? Possible?

Using Outlook Web App Web Parts in Exchange Server 2013 - OWA ? Possible?
We recently upgraded from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013.
The links that used OWA Web parts have completely stopped working and generate the " :( something went wrong contact your help desk" screen for domain Authenticated users other than myself. The links accessed content of a Shared Account of which
I am an owner and can set the necessary permissions using the Outlook 2013 client.
Using the example from the link provided below we were able to provide calendar access to all authenticated users in our area. The link for calendar still works for me but for noone else. Additionally, all navigation menus are missing when I use this link.
    <server>/owa/<SMTP address>/?cmd=contents&module=calendar&view=weekly name
Another crafted link provided web access to our group's task list. This has completely stopped working for anyone including myself. However, when I use "open another mailbox" I am able to navigate to the needed pages.
    <server name>/owa/<SMTP address>/?cmd=contents&module=tasks
These links were crafted using advice provided from this provided link.

Is it still possible to use Outlook Web App Web Parts in Exchange Server 2013 - OWA?
    Or
Is this a misconfiguration of some sort?
My IT support has given up and closed out the ticket stating that maybe Microsoft will fix this someday...

    Hello,
At present, there is no official article to verify whether we can use Outlook Web App Web Parts in Exchange Server 2013. In exchange online, the Outlook Web App Parts is supported.

Hi, you said this feature is supported in Exchange Online (I understand you're referring to Office 365). Can you please point me to some documentation as I was trying to use it with my E3 account and it doesn't seem to work?
What I'm trying to acomplish is something similar to our old URL (Exchange 2010) in Office 365:
    https://ourserver.mydomain.com/owa/[email protected]/?cmd=contents&module=calendar&view=monthly
The best I can do in Office 365 is this:
    https://outlook.com/owa/mydomain.com/[email protected]/#path=/calendar
But it's clearly not the same and Office 365 ignores all the information I add to the URL. I would greatly appreciate something in the line of the document referred by 'MarquetteENG' (technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb232199(v=exchg.141).aspx)
    Thanks.

  • Show your tasks in the calendar view - Outlook Web App

    Hi,
Is it possible to show your tasks in the calendar view in Outlook Web App 2013 ?
Some explanations of what I want to do :-)
We use Project Server so user can encode their work, this tasks are sync with an Exchange Server 2013 so tasks can be view in Outlook Web App. It's working really fine but we also want that in OWA, tasks are showed in a calendar so users can share what they
    have to do.
How can we add the tasks into a calendar or how can an user can easily share what he do ?
    Thanks,
    Patmol

    Hi Patmol,
    Tasks are not listed in
calendar in Outlook/OWA, To view task you will have to go to
Tasks folder or view the task
in To-do bar. You can also see the tasks for the day
in calendar folder if you go to Daily Task List. There are no Add-ins from Microsoft that can add
    tasks in the
    calendar along with Meetings/Appointments.
    Thanks,
    James

  • Can't "send" mail in Outlook Web App

Firefox version 34 on Ubuntu Linux 12.04
Several users cannot "send" email using the Outlook Web App. I'm in the process of contacting Microsoft to see if the problem is on their end. The "send" button works fine in Chrome.
    I've tried:
    -Using the keyboard shortcut (Alt-S)
    -Restarting firefox with addons disabled
    -Changing the zoom level
    -Tried in Private mode
-Tried using the popout window to compose and send
-Tried disabling the proxy (does not work with or without the proxy)
I've noticed that after creating a new message, no draft is saved. Cannot send with a new message or when replying.

Did you realize this is a forum for MacBook Pro's? Outlook is a Microsoft product that only runs on MS Windows. Perhaps you could provide more information such as:
I am running Windows XP, Vista, Win 7 under Boot Camp and am attempting to send mail using Outlook. I am running into the following problems........ and then tell more about how you have set up Outlook, what issues you are having and what troubleshooting steps you have taken.
At any rate if you are using Boot Camp, Fusion, Parallel's etc.. your best bet is to begin posting in those forums. This is a forum for MacBook Pro's 2008 or later. You can find the Boot Camp forum at:

  • How to remove repeated mails in exchange online outlook web app

    Hi,
Any help me , how to remove repeated mails in exchange online outlook web app . As we are in process of migrating mailboxes to office 365 . We have migrated 5 mailboxes . But when i checked outlook web app after migration completed , i could see repeated
mails . When i compared with on premise outlook and office 365 outlook web app  , there was lot of differences in read and unread mails .
Customer is expecting , same read and unread count should be replicated to office 365 owa.
Please suggest me to prevent this problem . As this is very urgent to give solution to customer .
    Big thanks in advance.
    Vinoth .

If you've setup Outlook 2013 so it's connected to Office 365, and you've import the .pst file into Outlook, it will be showing as another "mailbox" within Outlook, but default called "Personal Folders" (unless you renamed it when it was created).
You should find that you can simply copy the mail items / folders from Personal Folders into their new home in the Office 365 mailbox. Once that's done Outlook will synchronise the items with o365 which may obviously take a while to complete, but once it's
finished those messages will be available online.

  • Seeing the X on the padlock and a slash through the https on the address line when I use Outlook Web App

I run exchange 2013 on windows 2008 R2 with a cert from VeriSign that is about 2 years away from expiration. I have a user who uses our Outlook Web App from home and keeps complaining he is "seeing the red X on the padlock and a slash through the https

I go to EAC and the cert seems fine - ALTHOUGH I get a cert error on my IE when I login into EAC. So I'm wondering if I have a cert problem.

    Hi,
According to your description, I understand that login OWA and return an certificate warning.
If I misunderstand you concern, please do not hesitate to let me know.
I want to double confirm whether all user or some special user experience this issue. If only few of user face this problem, please try to double check the Trusted Root Certification Authorities Certificate Store in IE.
Otherwise, please run below command to double check the status of Exchange certificate:
    Get-ExchangeCertificate | FL Identity,Subject,Status,RootCAType,NotAfter,NotBefore
If the certificate expired, please pay attention to below link to renew Exchange Certificate:

  • EWS - Contact I'm creating shows "Untitled Contact" in Outlook Web App

    Hello,
I'm creating a new contact,  it shows fine in exchange client.
But when I try to view it in Outlook Web App, it shows "Untitled Contact".
Is there any special extended property for OWA that I need to set in order for it to display the contact name correctly?
    Thanks!

Is this for 2013 or Office365? what does your code look like ?
Generally you always need to set the Subject property if your not already and on Office365 you should set the following 4 properties in

  • Email template in Outlook web app

    Hello,
is there any way to create formated shared Email message template in exchange server 2013 as organization level or outlook web app + client outlook.
    http://community.office365.com/en-us/f/158/t/75907.aspx
    please help me
    Thanks In advance.

    Hi,
In Outlook, the user can create an email message template and save it in local machine for individual user using. In Exchange server side, there is no email message template can be customized for all users using.
We can consider Lee's suggestion to put the email message template which is created in Outlook side in the Public Folder for all users. About how to create an email message template in Outlook, please refer to:

  • Apps for Outlook on Exchange 2013 only work in Safari on Mac OS X (not anywhere else)

With Exchange 2013 SP1, a few "Apps for Outlook" are installed by default. I have not been able to get any of them to actually work... UNLESS I log into OWA from Apple's Safari web browser on Mac OS X. Safari on Windows loads the "lite"
Outlook Web App which doesn't load "Apps for Outlook" at all.
OWA on Internet Explorer 11 lists the apps within the emails, but they don't work (see screenshot).  The full Outlook 2013 desktop program lists the apps as well, but again they don't work at all.
Am I missing some sort of configuration on Exchange 2013 that gets these to work on Microsoft's web browser and email client products?  It's kind of strange that they work on Apple's products so easily.  I've tried Chrome and Firefox on Windows
as well, but those don't work either.

Ah, okay. From the Exchange Management Shell, I did "Get-ECPVirtualDirectory | FL"
    AdminEnabled                    : True
    OwaOptionsEnabled               : True
Name                            : ecp (Default Web Site)
    InternalAuthenticationMethods   : {Basic, Fba}
    BasicAuthentication             : True
    WindowsAuthentication           : False
    DigestAuthentication            : False
    FormsAuthentication             : True
    LiveIdAuthentication            : False
    AdfsAuthentication              : False
    OAuthAuthentication             : False
    DefaultDomain                   :
    GzipLevel                       : Low
    WebSite                         : Default Web Site
    DisplayName                     : ecp
    Path                            : C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V15\FrontEnd\HttpProxy\ecp
    ExtendedProtectionTokenChecking : None
    ExtendedProtectionFlags         : {}
    ExtendedProtectionSPNList       : {}
    AdminDisplayVersion             : Version 15.0 (Build 847.32)
    ExternalAuthenticationMethods   : {Fba}
    AdminDisplayName                :
    ExchangeVersion                 : 0.10 (14.0.100.0)
All seems to be configured as you say.  I didn't change anything, but realized the ExternalURL was pointing to DOMAIN.com/ecp which had a DNS issue, where-as
www.DOMAIN.com and mail.DOMAIN.com were all working.  So,
www.DOMAIN.com/owa was working fine on everything (except the Outlook Apps on Windows PCs), but DOMAIN.com/owa was not.  Now that DOMAIN.com/owa is working correctly, it seems that Outlook Apps are working correctly
too.  I guess even though we are accessing everything via
www.DOMAIN.com or mail.DOMAIN.com, the Outlook/Exchange Apps are still accessing stuff via
http://DOMAIN.com instead (unless the client is using Mac OS X Safari).  That sounds like that should be a bug in the way the Outlook Apps are loaded, no?
