Disable attachment preview

I work in the graphic world and I receive lots of mails with heavy attachments. I would like to switch to Mail (from Entourage), but my problem is that Mail seems to display all attachments in the preview pane. Because of the size of the attachments, this slows me down and is of no use, since I have to edit them anyway in another program. How can I get rid of these attachment previews, while keeping the text preview (as Entourage allows)?

Cannot disable automatic attachment preview in Mavericks Mail?

Hello All,
I noticed after upgrading to Mavericks that Apple Mail started automatically previewing attachments again... I had disabled this in previous versions of OS X. I tried to disable this again in the terminal using:
defaults write com.apple.mail DisableInlineAttachmentViewing -bool yes
But after re-starting Mail, attachments are being automatically previewed again.
I consider this a security issue so I would like to disable automatic attachment previewing as soon as possible. Has anyone been able to do this with the Mail included with Mavericks yet?

Just a basic examplo: getting an email with an open image, that the 2 people around me can immediately see, can pose a serious security for anything I'm doing with my Mac!

That's a privacy problem, not a security problem.
If you are receiving images in emails that the others arround you are not qualified to see, your office setup is the security problem, not Mail.
Use a different email client that gives you the option. I have no idea what those are, though.

Is it possible to disable inline email attachment preview in Yosemite?

I was hoping that there would be an option/setting in Yosemite to disable inline email attachment previews in Mail to view an attachment as an icon. Attachment Tamer seems to be the only work-around, but it isn't available for Yosemite yet. Any suggestions?

Yes, I tried all of that. The best I could find is Mail > Edit > Attachments > and check "Always Insert Attachments at End of Message." Its better than nothing!

Disabling attachment downloads OR limiting email download size

I have set up many email accounts but I cannot disable downloads of attachment. It shoots up my phone bill as unwanted emails with attachments are also downloaded. Is there a way of disabling attachment downloading OR downloading ONLY HEADERS OR limiting the size of each email to be downloaded (like the option available in Windows mobile phones).

The only settings that I am aware of for the mail that would limit anything are the "load remote images" and the preview. You could use the preview to decide if you wanted to open a particular email, and there is a paperclip icon for emails that contain attachments. Wait to open them. Generally, they only download a portion of the email if it is a large one, but I don't know if this is a guarantee. If you are having issues with the amount of data you are using because of the restrictions of your account, you might want to set the email accounts to only check manually, so you can check them when you are in a wifi area, or turn off the accounts that are not really necessary.

Mostly this is a problem in PhotoshopOK, my Photoshop is still a Classic version. I was looking at one or two others, like GraphicConverter, but the only pref there seems to be to generate a Preview if one doesn't exist.

Unable to see markups in Outlook 2010 attachment preview

Hi,
I am unable to see markup tags which were done in Word 2010 in the Outlook 2010 attachment preview window. The word file normally gets marked up and sent as an attachment. Most of the time the attachment preview will highlight the markup over the words and
when the mouse is hovered over it will show the actual comment. For a couple of my users, this has stopped working.
When they double-click on the attachment they also cannot see the comments. However, if they save it to the local or network drive and then open the file all the markups will automatically appear.
As a test I asked them to send me the email which had this problem to see if this happens on my Outlook and I cannot see the markups either. So I guess something must have happened with the Word file?
Any ideas what this could be? The documents were originally composed in Word 2010 as far as I know. I have also created a test markup file and emailed this to myself and this shows the highlights fine.
I attach a picture of when its working well.
But with the documents that my users have this does not show.
Any suggestions really appreciated.

What if we copy all the content from the problematic Word document and paste it to a new blank document, save and attach it to an email, will you see the markup?

OWA Blank Attachment Preview with Office Web Apps Server

Environment: Exchange 2013 CU3 / Office Web Apps Server 2013
OS: Windows Server 2012 R2
After implementing Office Web Apps server per the Integration with Exchange 2013 instructions, attachment previews in OWA show up as blank windows. The pop up says Opening your mailbox, then goes blank. I have the WAC endpoint configured in Exchange,
I can access the discovery URL from the Exchange servers, and I am seeing event 142. Some forums say that these events should be in the CAS application logs. I am seeing mine in the Mailbox server app logs. Has anyone seen a similar issue.
I have also attempted to view the ULS logs on the Office Web Apps server, but I don't see anything that looks like a rendering request. But, I also don't know what that request would look like. The Exchange and Office Web Apps server are
in the same network with no firewall in between them The local firewalls have also been turned off, so any type of blockage should not be the issue.

I just updated to the lates version and now images show by default in your Twitter stream. Previously it was only a link which was much better.
I couldn’t find any setting option to disable the preview like you can in the Android App. Has anyone seen the option?

new to programmingI'd agree. If each course covers five days, this is probably geared towards experienced programmers who are already familiar with the concepts but in a different language. For example, a "senior" dot-NET programmer who got offered a job doing the same thing but in Java, would simply have to learn the new syntax and yes, he can do this in five days.
But if you're new to programming, it easily takes at least a full day just to learn how the collections package works (stacks, linked lists, hash tables, trees and so forth), but the nice thing is that once you understand what they do, you can create whichever package you need in whatever programming language you want - which is probably what they have in mind.
At a conventional university, the first course is easily a year's worth of material although it can be squeezed down to just one term if the instructor is really really good or the students have prior programming experience.
The second course is definitely an additional term on top of that. At my college, it takes about 33 weeks (1.5 American semesters) to cover the second course in any depth.

How to disable image previews

In the Windows client there is an option to disable image previews with
Tools -> Options -> IM settings -> Show advanced options. Uncheck the option: "Show images in conversations".
In the Mac client there is no such option. How to disable image previews in a Mac client?

Does GPU acceleration in Illustrator CC still work after disabling 'GPU Preview' and enabling 'CPU Preview' (on a workstation gpu)?

I'm using a workstation graphics card that allows for GPU acceleration in Illustrator CC.
Selecting 'GPU Preview' instead of 'CPU Preview' under the 'View' toolbar in Illustrator CC results in a more choppy experience.
Which leads me to wonder:
Does GPU acceleration in Illustrator CC still work after disabling 'GPU Preview' and enabling 'CPU Preview' (on a workstation gpu)?
Does GPU acceleration for my gpu actually improve the performance for my work?

If you disable the GPU acceleration in preferences then you'll be unable to enable GPU preview under the view menu. It will automatically go into CPU preview as the GPU is no longer enabled.
If you're experiencing choppy performance when you do have the GPU preview selected, something is amiss because any GPU that can support GPU acceleration should be able to do it without a performance hit.
What is the video card that's in the workstation?

Disabling live preview by the user

As live preview inside LR takes some time to reload everytime one of web engine feature is changed, is it possible to create an option in the Engine UI itself to enable or disable live preview?
If the user knows what feature he's changing and would prefer not to wait for live preview to reload, they can just disable this live preview feature themself.

Maybe add a conditional checkbox that removes the live_update.js section?

Disable iMessage Preview in Notification center not working

iPhone 5 Running iOS 7.1.1
Settings > Notification Center > Messages > Show Preview is disabled.
Preview is in fact disabled on the Lock Screen, and on Banners as iMessages are received.
However, the Preview still shows when viewing missed iMessages in the Notification Center. Can only assume this is a bug? Few others have experienced this. Anyone else got any ideas?

I have exactly the same problem, it is intermittent. My phone is an iphone 5 running iOS 7.1.1, definitely a bug. Apple need to fix this. Any ideas anyone?

Disable attachment in preview of UWL : possible ?

Hi,
Is it possible to make a configuration for the UWL that for the tasks (not for the notifications) in the "preview" the attachments are not available (not shown) In the preview the attachement refers to the R/3 application.
We prefer to keep the preview in the UWL but not to show the attachment in the preview section.

Disabling the attachment preview in Mail

I regularly email large attachments for graphic purposes -
(JPG, TIF, EPS, PDF, etc)
but I am frustrated with the long wait for attachments to preview.
I would rather it didn't preview at all as I know what is there.
Is there a way to change this?
